Italian Neapolitan builder Gagliotta updates its World wide web showroom to a new design. Not very known outside the Italian peninsula, this builder has great respect mostly attributed to the racing success of founder Salvatore Gagliotta. Founded in 1952 in Naples, Mergellina, Gagliotta starts producing his first prototypes, which are small fast boats based on a Hunt hull design. Years pass and in the sixties Gagliotta moves from a hand building method to a semi production GRP construction way, and in the same time starts to compete in the Offshore competitions. In 1968 it also receives an honorable mention on the renowned Italian Nautica Magazine, where the Budda Blitz cruiser competing in a race keeps following the faster boats, with top US powerboat builder and racer Don Aronow complimenting this feat saying that the only one European hull is worth copying is that of the Naples built and designed Gagliotta. In the year 2000 the Naples builder introduces the 37 Gagliardo designed by Stefano Mango which is still in production as 37, changing with this model the philosophy concept of all the range evolving it from a fast sport boat type to a sportfish cruiser. Today four out of five models follows this design accept for the 2009 introduced Judel and Vroijlik 35 Lobster. The current Gagliotta range offers four models from 35 to 52 feet, and two ranges Fisherman three units and the entry model 35 Lobster.  In 2017 Gagliotta also announced two additional 48 and 42 Lobster projects but so far these have not materialized as at today.  The new Gagliotta web site is available English and Italian language takes you around with the following buttons; Home, The Shipyard, Fisherman, Lobster,  and Contacts.  Gagliotta is also on social media with side and bottom links taking you to its Facebook and Instagram pages.

Project: Gagliotta 42 Lobster

Having had a good success with the Gagliotta 35 Lobster, the Italian Neapolitan boat builder aims to expand its range of traditional Down East lobster boat inspired cruiser and after the 48 project follow this with that for a 42.  The Gagliotta 42 Lobster presents itself with a single level main deck living area offering a dinette and galley under the hard top, and relaxing seating further aft of the deck.  The lower area is fully reserved for night accommodation with two spacious cabins; an owners double forward and a twin berth cabin to port side, and two shower heads.  Engines are not yet announced but the design book of the Gagliotta 42 Lobster does show it to feature pod drives type propulsion.

Project: Gagliotta 48 Lobster

Gagliotta present the project for a 48 Lobster, a continuation of the Lobster 35, this series from the Italian Neapolitan builder is all about following tradition.  The exterior of the Lobster 48 is a traditional Down East boat inspired lines.  But tradition inspiration does not stop from the basic three double cabins layout; forward owners cabin and two double cabins at midships, and last to the always loved line shaft propulsion system. Apart the plans Gagliotta is pretty silent on details for the Lobster 48 as engine choices, and performance numbers.  The 35 was designed by the Germans Judel and Vrolijk famous for there Americas Cup success with Alinghi, but here we have no designer mentioned.  The Gagliotta 48 Lobster started production planning at the end of Winter 2017, and the Neapolitan builder is also preparing project plans for a Lobster 42 model.

New Model: Gagliotta 35 Lobster

Gagliotta the Naples builder presents the new 35 Lobster model, a departure from its current four model line of sport cruisers and yachts from 32 up to 52 feet. Many new Italian builders have jumped on traditional boat designs, so Gagliotta being an old name associated in fast type cruisers is interesting to see how it performs with this new medium sized 35 Lobster model. For the project the Italian Neapolitan builder entrusted none the less then top design team Rolf & Vrolijk winners of of the 31st and 32Nd edition of the Americas Cup with Swiss team Alinghi. The 35 Lobster spaces are all about tradition, and it offers an outside under the hard top galley, and interior accommodation with a settee, vee shaped berth to fore and separate shower head. Power is from twin Volvo 260hp, which give top speeds of 33 knots and cruising at 28 knots.
