Fairline Yacht Sinks at Cesme in Izmir, Turkey

A seventeen meter Fairline yacht sank at Ali Bostan in Cesme, Izmir locality on the Aegean sea of Turkey on nine May 2026.  Cesmecevirmerada broke the story on it's Instagram page as the yacht lay partly sank close to the beach.  It is reported that the yacht sank after it struck reefs close to the shore, with the reason for this not being known.  A salvage operation was immediately started on the day of the accident.  The people onboard if any at the time of the accident are not reported.
The yacht in this accident is a Fairline Squadron 59 Mk.II as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 1997 to 1998.  The Squadron 59 Mk.II was a replacement to the Squadron 59 mk.I and was replaced by the Fairline Squadron 62.
