A seven meter Bayliner sportfish cruiser with two persons onboard went ablaze about one nautical offshore to Sanlorenzo near Marzamemi, to the East of Sicily just after 12:30 of Saturday 25 April. Seeing the fire the two persons onboard jumped in the water and were saved by a Beach-man who came to the rescue with a paddle boat as he saw the blaze from the beach. The Guardia di Finanza and Guardia Costiera followed to the assistance later with the V854 and CP 763 boats respectively. Ultimately the boat was wrecked from the blaze and sunk. The two persons were assisted by the 118 emergency crew who were taken to the Di Maria hospital of Avola for a check. The cause of the fire is not reported.
The boat in this fire is a first generation Bayliner Trophy 2352 Walkaround as produced from 1991 to 1995. The Trophy 2352 was replaced by the Bayliner 2509 Trophy Walkaround. Bayliner Trophy line debuted in 1983 with the 2160 Trophy Cuddy, with the line stopped in 2010, and then returned in 2020 with the T20CC.
