Ferretti Super Yacht Aground in Long Island

A 29 meter Ferretti super yacht titled m/y In Too Deep ran aground on Bailie Beach, Mattituck in Long Island, New York on the morning of 26 June.  Three persons where onboard the super yacht on the time of the accident, with none of them being injured during the incident.  The super yacht was later assisted by two boats from Douglas Marine from 09:20 till about 14:00 hours when high tide arrived and the yacht was fully floated. The yacht had no apparent damage and was reported going at the Strong Marine dock in Mattituck for further check ups on own power.  During the accident the super yacht was reported as cruising just over six knots in clear weather conditions.

In Too Deep, is a Ferretti 960 from 2013 as designed by Zuccon and produced from 2013 till 2020 in twenty units.  Taking away the Ferretti Custom Line brand, the 960 was Ferretti largest build yacht till 2020, over took by the replacing 1000 which debuted in 2021.

Project: Amels 80 Limited Edition

Following the success of the 60 meter Limited Edition semi custom series, sold in five units and deliveries now going into 2025 for the next unit, Amels present the project for a new 80 Limited Edition. Designed like the 60 LE by Espen Oino, the 80-metre Limited Edition will be offered in a semi-custom platform. Baglietto has launched the first DOM 133, a semi-custom 41-metre aluminum super yacht designed by Stefano Vafiadis. The first Baglietto DOM 133 will be delivered to the Owner, later this summer. Since its very debut, the DOM line immediately met with roaring success: four more hulls are indeed currently under construction at the Carrara shipyard, with deliveries scheduled until 2024. Project: Galeon 440 Fly

Galeon present the project for a new 440 Fly, featuring a sleek exterior which marks another collaboration from the Polish boat builder with British designer Tony Castro Design, who sets out a recognizable line it following the trends set by the fourth generation Galeon yachts. A unique combination of a dynamic silhouette with sporty accents throughout is complimented by the large windows on both decks that liven up the interior. A clear focus was placed upon practicality and versatility and easy access of the exteriors, with the top deck featuring a helm station with a settee to port side for a companion, and the main rest area moved back. The L-shaped sofa wraps around the elongated table and will seat six in comfort, while a wet bar will hold refreshments and help to keep things tidy. The main deck holds two separate leisure areas with the bow easily accessible by the starboard sliding doors next to the helm. Guests can choose to prop-up the foldable bimini and front facing seat for extra protection from the elements. The cockpit allows for boarding from all sides thanks to the full-sized hydraulic stern platform and Beach Mode with semi-glazed panels. Drop down bulwarks to both sides extend the usable space during mooring, with the bathing platform functions as a lift for all your water toys and allows easy access to the stern-facing grill area. Inside, a classic layout can be found with the rest area moved back, divided from the cockpit only by the sliding glass doors. Galley and helm station are moved forward with two or three cabins located on the lower deck. The two cabin option will accommodate four guests in style, as both the mid-ship master and the forward VIP offer significant volume and storage space. For larger parties a choice between two different, three cabin layouts is available with bunk beds or twin cabin setups. Bavaria present the new SR36 a modern sport cruiser with an unusually large amount of space on the main deck, and a generous volume below deck. This is made possible by the dynamic hull with its striking lines and a length of over eleven meters. Project: Princess S72

Princess present the S72 project becoming the latest addition to the Plymouth boat builder renowned S Class sport bridge yachts family. Designed by the Princess Design Studio in collaboration with naval architects Olesinski and Italian design house Pininfarina for exterior styling, the S72's sweeping profile features sleek lines and beautiful full-length hull windows. Equipped with twin Man 1650 standard or optional 1800 horsepower the S72 is estimated to have speeds up to 36 knots with the optional engine configuration.  The S72 will have a main deck with astern galley, while the lower deck is a four double cabins layout featuring a separate entrance midships owners stateroom.  A crew cabin sleeping two persons is located aft to starboard.  The Princess Y72 seems also to up the options in the wood finishing choice to the customer, with four wood options; three types of oak and walnut being available.

New Model: Fabbrica Italiana Motorscafi 340 Regina

Two People Saved from Boat Fire in Portsmouth Harbor

Two people where rescued after an eleven meter traditional cruiser burst into flames near Portsmouth Harbor on 15:22 hours of Sunday nineteen June.  Gosport Lifeboat arrived six minutes later on the scene finding the two crew with life jacket's on, standing on the boats edge.  After rescuing the crew, the lifeboat towed the boat, with the duty fire tug SD Independent also arriving on the scene, with the boat sinking before arriving to its planned destination of shallow water.  Following the sinking a clean up to retrieve about 1800 liters of fuel and debris from the boat was started.

The boat in this fire is an Aquastar Oceanranger 38 Aft Cabin.  The Aquastar Oceanranger 38 Aft Cabin was introduced in 1984, following customers requests for more accommodation to the 38 Aft Cockpit which debuted in 1978, the model subsequently evolved into the Ocean Star 118 in 1995, with a soft super structure re-design.

Two Injured as Wellcraft Hits Tecumseh Breakwater

A ten meters Wellcraft sport cruiser with eight persons onboard ended colliding and aground on the Tecumseh break wall, 1400 Block, Riverside Drive, Ontario, Canada at about 23:45 of Saturday eighteen June.  Officers from  EMS and Tecumseh fire where dispatched to the scene as two people had minor injuries and had to be assisted and taken to a hospital.  The helmsman a 51 year man from Detroit, Michigan was taken into custody and charged with helming under the influence after being found with high alcohol count.  The helmsman was later released and scheduled to appear in a Windsor court at a later date, while the people on board the Wellcraft were then turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency.   According to the locals it was quite a feat for the sport cruiser to end so much inside the break wall as there is a few meters of shallow water to make before ending in this position.  The Wellcraft sport cruiser was removed and refloated on the night of Wednesday 22 June with an investigation on the case of this collision and grounding is ongoing.

The Wellcraft in this break wall collision is a 3200 St. Tropez model as produced from 1985 to 93 in 1700 units, making it the best selling sport cruiser ever of the 1955 founded company.  The 3200 St.Tropez was a replacement to the 3100 Express and was replaced by the 3200 Martinique.

Explorer Motor Yacht Burns Down in Maine

A 21 meter explorer yacht named m/y Elusive went on fire and eventually sank on 1600 hours of Saturday 18 June, near Kittery in Maine.  Elusive had three passengers and two dogs onboard, who as soon as they saw the fire jumped in the water for safety and where picked unharmed by nearby boats.  Meanwhile New Hampshire state police called the coast guard, four fire department, and Kittery's harbor master for assistance, to no success as the yacht burned to the waterline, and two hours later sank.  The three persons onboard lost all there belongings as Elusive was a live aboard yacht. 

M/y Elusive is a 2007 Marlow Explorer 70E as produced from 2002, part of the 65-70 series and different from the smaller 65 in the sloop stern.  The Marlow Explorer 70E evolved into the 70E Mk.II in 2018.

Project: Cantiere delle Marche Acciaio 130

With an order book entering into 2026, Cantiere delle Marche success does not want to stop with a new explorer super yacht an Acciaio 130 being sold. Acciaio 130 is the third unit and the largest of the Metal series, translation from Acciaio semi-custom series with the previous two being the 105 Gatto and 123 Astrum, and comes from a design and naval architecture by Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec. Cantiere delle Marche Acciaio 130 features an imposing and flared bow to intercept high seas with the sheer line that smoothly flows down creating a sophisticated yachting style. This flowing feature is replicated in the fashion plates that effortlessly glide to the main, upper and sun deck from above framing signature strip windows. The yacht will often sail at high latitudes for both exploration and fishing expeditions. To enjoy fully long and challenging fishing trips, the Owner asked to have the yacht designed with a fishing cockpit, a stern platform enclosed within high bulwark, and all fishing equipment will be stored in a large lazarette. The layout has been designed to meet the Owner way of living on board: there will be two Owner staterooms, one on the Main deck forward and a second full beam suite on the Lower deck amidships. Two guest cabins will be available on the Lower deck. Among the Acciaio 130’s layout peculiarities worth mentioning is a thirty square meters gym on the Upper deck and a sky-lounge on the Sun deck to enjoy the view while comfortable sitting inside. At just over 39 meters, with a beam of eight meters and a displacement of around 388 tons Acciaio 130 has an extremely efficient hull with bulbous bow to keep fuel consumption to the lowest levels while granting an extraordinary range. Two Caterpillar 715hp engine will give a top speed of thirteen knots, and a range at ten knots, of above 5000nm.

Classic Trojan Runs Aground in Hampton Bays

A nine meter flybridge cruiser with one person onboard ran aground to the West of Shinnecock inlet in Hampton Bays, on the morning of Saturday eighteen June.  The cruiser had a mechanical failure while on the route from Freeport to Hampton Bays, and while the captain was assessing the issue without dropping anchor the boat ended beached. The captain unharmed abandoned the boat when it beached, which later on that day was salvaged by a crew from Suffolk County Parks Department.  Southampton Town Bay Constables and New York State Department of Environmental Conversation found no sign of fuel spill.

The flybridge cruiser in this accident is a Trojan F32 Sedan, a successful top selling model from the US builder sold in over 2700 units from 1973 till 1992.  The Trojan F32 also featured an Express open deck version, which accounted for 20% of sales, and the different upper structure Sports Fisherman which sold in just three dozen units.

Riva Classic Burns in Bay of Palma

A Riva classic sport yacht of about fifteen meters in length, burned and sank on the afternoon of Saturday eighteen June in the Bay of Palma, off Portals to the South West of Mallorca.  The yacht had two persons onboard and eventually it sank.  The two persons onboard jumped off the yacht when the fire broke, and where reportedly saved by the Maritime Safety Agency.  Sinking in deep water the yacht is not a navigational hazard, while the cause of the fire are being investigated.

The Riva in this fire is a 50 Diable as designed by Giorgio Barilani and produced from 1983 to 1989 in 31 units.  The 50 Diable was Riva's entry into sporty yachts over fifteen meters and was replaced by the Turborosso 51.

Sunseeker Burns Down in Hope Town Harbour Abaco

A twenty meter Sunseeker flybridge yacht went ablaze while on anchor in the early afternoon of seventeen June in Hope Town harbor in Abaco.  Hope Town Volunteer and Fire rescue was on the scene to assist the yacht and its occupants and extinguish the flames.  No one was injured in the fire, but the twenty meter Sunseeker motor yacht was totalled and is now a wreck.

The Sunseeker yacht in this fire was a 2019 Manhattan 66 as produced from the fall of 2016 till 2019.  The Sunseeker Manhattan 66 was a replacement to the Manhattan 65, and was replaced by Manhattan 68.

Classic Unattended Sea Ray Sinks at Cobourg Marina Ontario

A classic nine meter Sea Ray flybridge cruiser partly sank while she was docked in Cobourg Marina, in Cobourg, province of Ontario, Canada on 06:45 morning time of Thursday sixteen June.  The unattended flybridge cruiser was immediately noted by the marina staff, as the boat started to go down and then listed to its starboard side, and partly sank.  Environmental Services and Coast Guard staff attended to the sinking, who freed the area from nearby boats, and surrounded it with pollution protection booms, as the boat was reported to have spilled some oil and fuel in its sinking.  Dundee Marina was working on righting and floating the classic Sea Ray.  The Ministry of Environment and Town Environmental Services where also on the spot assessing that the appropriate measures for absorbing the fuel and oil spill were being made.  The cause of the sinking is not reported.

The classic Sea Ray in this sinking is an SRV300 Sedan Bridge as produced 1977 to 1981.  The SRV300 Sedan Bridge was replaced by the SRV310 Vanguard Sportbridge. 

New Model: Steeler 61 S Electric Trawler

Steeler is proud to launch the 61 S Electric Trawler, a  fully electric and seaworthy explorer yacht, which also features the Dutch builder European Powerboat of the Year awarded Flat floor Panorama Concept, which makes it one of the most spacious explorer yachts in its size, thanks to the use of the single level living. The 61 S Electric Trawler also features solar panels for a permanent and natural energy supply.  Design wise the 61 S Electric Trawler triple deck makes it an impressive and unusual looker. Its silhouette is shaped by the bow and the streamlined length of the hull itself.  Add to that the coupé-style cabin tapering backwards, with the flying bridge towering on top. Project: Dominator 10.5m Midi-Ilumen

Dominator present the project for a 10.5 meter Midi-Ilumen sport cruiser. First announced as a Mini-Ilumen seven meter tender in 2020, the project has evolved apparently into the Midi-Ilumen, a 10.5 meter weekender sport cruiser featuring the design, safety and comfort of a much bigger size boat.  So far very little details are available for the Midi-Ilumen apart the fact that unlike the Mini version it has lower deck accommodation.  The rendering above shows a very innovative modern design.  The Mini-Ilumen was project to have top end speeds about forty knots, and an economic long range in around 25, with estimated range at this speed of an impressive 300 nautical miles.  If these numbers are followed in the Midi-Ilumen that pretty good for a sport cruiser of ten meters in length.  When announced in 2020 the idea of the Mini-Ilumen's was for this to be a range featuring three models from seven to thirteen meters in size.

Unlike the 52 the WallyPower 58 takes design cues from the larger Wally models of the past particularly the 118 model, see air intakes in the hull sides.  The main innovation in the WallyPower 58 is the clean hull sides, with everyone going with large hull windows, Wally decides to change course and keep the lines clean with no windows, fitting in the hull two 4k cameras which show the view outside to the guests on the two; port and starboard screens mounted inside.  Other features of the WallyPower 58 are the drop down side bulwarks which double the extended aft open deck space to 25 sqm aft.  Another innovative feature is the bimini on the aft sun-pad, which comes out from a structural bottom part of the structure to sun cover guests in comfort.  Inside the WallyPower 58 is available in three versions; Guest with two cabins two heads with small saloon, Crew offering one cabin and a crew cabin to port side, and Double Saloon with one cabin with a double and two opposite saloons.  In all versions there is no galley in the lower deck, with this located to port side of the main deck opposite the starboard located helm station.  The WallyPower 58 is powered with triple Volvo IPS pod propulsion set up with three by 550hp engines as standard, and 600hp available as optional.

Project: Italyure 45

Following the success of its first model the Allure 38 launched in 2021 and since then delivered in eight units, the Italian Naples boat builder follows it with a project for a bigger 45. With this new larger 45 project, designer and naval architect Maurizio Marzocca follows the family feeling and the principles of the smaller 38, for a sport cruiser center console in a larger formula which offers more spaces everywhere.  The Allure 45 project was presented at the Naples boat show in February as a scaled model, with the first profile project born as shaft propulsion.  Still expect the Allure 45 to be like the 38, available also in stern drives and outboards.  The first Allure 45 is in early stages of construction and is planned to launch in early 2023.

Classic Italian Motor Yacht Hits Mirabello Quay La Spezia

A 22 meter classic motor yacht crashed into the fuel quay of Mirabello marina, La Spezia at around 1830 hours of Sunday twelfth June.  The reports say that the accident was done on purpose by the captain to save the yacht from sinking as it was taking on water on its way to entering the Spezia harbour. Unconfirmed reports are saying the yacht was taking in water due to a broken seacock, while others are reporting it hit something on the way into the Spezia harbour.  Thanks to this risky manoeuvre from the captain and immediate May-Day call for assistance, and help from the Italian coast guard and fire fighting squads of La Spezia the yacht was reported as saved from sinking at about 2200 hours of the same day.  

The classic yacht in this accident is a 1980 Spertini Alalunga 22 as designed by Aldo Cichero and produced from 1975 till the end of the eighties.  The Alalunga 22 was build of wood and in most cases to order.

Two People Escape Boat Fire in Great Oak Landing, Chesapeake

Two persons managed to escape a boat fire on a twelve meter sport cruiser at Great Oak Landing marina, Chesapeake, for a fire which was reported at 02:02 time of Sunday twelve June.  The two occupants were awaken by the fire which they tried to turn off with no success, and then abandoned the boat as the blaze intensified.  Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company responded to the blaze with 35 fire fighters, and a fire engine truck.  Ultimately the sport cruiser was engulfed by the blaze and sank, and was then surrounded by a pollution protection boom.  The cause of the fire is not known, though an investigation will be made.

The sport cruiser in this fire is a Cruiser 4270 Express as produced from 1997 to 2003.  The 4270 Express was a replacement to the raised bridge 4285 Express, and was replaced by the Cruisers 440 Express.

Kadey-Krogen New Web Site

New Launch: Benetti 65m FB274

Benetti is proud to announce the launch of hull no FB274, titled M/Y “Zazou”, this a 65-meter full custom yacht with sleek and sinuous lines. The steel hull was painted at the request of the owner, a repeat Benetti customer, in an elegant carinthia blue color; and the superstructure is made with aluminum. The external lines are by Giorgio M. Cassetta and the interiors, as well as some of the external spaces, are by the Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design. The yacht, which accommodates 12 people in 6 double cabins, has one of the largest Sun Decks in its category with a gym, a 5-meter-long swimming pool and an outdoor cinema on top of another cinema area on the Main Deck. Two Caterpillar 2400hp engines allow the yacht to navigate autonomously for 5,000 miles at a cruising speed of twelve knots.

Sportfish Goes Ablaze at Pondickory Point Marina, Annopolis

A not attended eleven meter in length sportfish cruiser went ablaze in Podickory Point Yacht and Beach Club, Annapolis, Maryland on the evening of Thursday ninth June.  Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to the fire first, and was later assisted by Annapolis Fire Department, Naval Support Activity Annapolis Fire Department, Calvert County Volunteer Fire-Rescue, Baltimore City Fire Department, and Queen Anne's County Fire for fighting the blaze. The Anne Arundel County Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region, and Maryland Department of the Environment also attended the scene. The fire also damaged two other nearby boats, and pontoon piers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The sportfish cruiser in this fire is a Silverton 42 Convertible as produced from 2000 to 2012. The 42 Convertible was a replacement to the 41 Convertible, and was replaced by the Silverton 43 Convertible.

Project: Versilcraft 45 Sportadventure

Currently undergoing finishing touches in Italy is the Versilcraft 45 Sportadventure.  The largest yacht ever build by Versilcraft, 45 Sportadventure is a triple deck super yacht with a steel hull and aluminum super structure construction, and is designed by Italian Spezia based Optima of Antonio Luxardo, who presented her with very clean minimal exterior looks. Inside the 45 Superadventure will feature a five double cabins sleeping ten layout, with the yacht just fitting in volume of 499 GT.   Versilcraft 45 Sportadventure is to be powered by twin 1600hp Cat engines which give a top speed up to fifteen knots, a cruise of fourteen, and a long range of up to six thousand nautical miles at eleven knots.

New Model: Vanquish VQ40 Sports Line

Vanquish presents its VQ40 Sports Line its new chapter in composite boat building which is to be followed by a larger sixteen meter VQ55 currently under going finishing touches.  Designed by Guido de Groot the Vanquish VQ40 Sports Line is a center console sport cruiser, with a lower deck cabin offering a double U-shaped berth and a shower head.  The Vanquish VQ40 is powered by twin Volvo 440hp engines which give a 45 knots top speeds, and or outboards from triple 300hp up to 600hp engines these last giving a top speed over 65 knots.

Project: Rizzardi GR Sessantatre

Rizzardi returns back to its roots of open sport yachts with the GR Sessantatre project.  The GR acronym stands for Gianfranco Rizzardi, the founder of the shipyard who started his successful boat building experience with the CR40 Open in the eighties, a success which had an important upward trend with the Top Line series introduced with the 53 in 1992 and followed with the 50 in 2000 which becomes in the years Rizzardi best selling model with some seventy units sold.  This GR Sessantatre is the direct heir of the 2003 presented 63 Top Line, the above rendering above gives a huge nod to the successful nineteen meter model, but also full respect of the TL design language, from the flush deck to the large air intakes located on the sides of the super structure.  Another technical detail which was always part of the Top Line was the traditional direct line shaft propulsion, with all the Rizzardi's Top Line from the 50 to the 73 always being equipped with this traditional propulsion set up.  Just as is usual with the Rizzardi the GR Sessantatre will be a semi-custom build with the standard layout offering three double cabins three heads and one crew cabin.  Power options are for standard Man 1200hp for top speeds up to 37 knots, and 1300hp for an extra knot of top end.
