New Launch: F&S 54 Hull 15

F&S from Delaware presents this new 54 feet Hull number 15. Designed by Applied Concepts this cold molded custom built Sportfish Yacht is for a repeated customer who with this launch is now on his third F&S following 62 Hull 8 from 2006, and the 2007 built 45 Hull 10. Applied Concepts and Jim Flloyd's F&S presented a Sportfish Yacht which certainly is coming from the future with innovative super structures being testimony to the revolution this 54 feet classic Carolina lined hull wants to show. F&S hull number fifteen breaks the mold indeed with its all-weather bridge and unique composite tower. The main deck area is also a living closed-open cross over, having comforts associated with a flybridge but being a light filled area. The revolutionary tower built of composite sits on the hard top which covers the main deck, and indeed it does offer the comfort of a flybridge, although space is limited to two persons. The main deck welcomes you on its two step raised area with the mezzanine and full entertainment relax zone under the hard top which has an L-shaped settee, a central pompano style helm station with bolster style seat, and two co-pilot seats. Down below the interior has been made simple with a spacious C-shaped sofa, two open bunk berths, galley, shower head, and an owners stateroom to fore. Power to this 54 Hull 15 is for not so big twin Cats 1015hp.

Project: Pershing 58

After no new models launched in 2009, Pershing wants to make the 2010 year one full of them, presenting three novelties in this years fall, and after taking the 50.1 in Cannes, at Genoa it presented the 58. As it is easy to see with this rendering this new 58 comes from the updating of the successful 56 model launched in 2005. With the Pershing 58 Fulvio De Simoni updates the super structure, and adds the hull with six large view windows, three per side situated in all of the three large cabins below. As those who follow Pershing can see the hard top now takes the New Idea looks as presented with the 72 in 2007, and there after followed by all new models launched since then. In particular De Simoni 58 new hard top lines take a lot of inspiration from the 72, 64, 80, and the new 92.

New Model: Atlantis 44

Atlantis presents the page two of its new direction with second 44 model debuting at Genoa. Important to note that both the new Atlantis models represented a full novelty and where not just a make up change to an old design. The 44 replaces two units from Altantis who both sold quite well, the 42 which was the first badged Atlantis, and the top selling Gobbi designed 425 SC. Young designers Neo Design who take over from Righini as expected bring a family feeling to the details shown on the 48 presented just about a month ago in Cannes. You have the open feeling with a hard top which is light on features, and the cockpit although smaller features a similar layout to the bigger sister with a sun pad aft, C-shaped dinette, galley opposite, and lounger under the windscreen. The interior has also a similar layout to the 48, with a full beam owners room, VIP suite to fore, galley, and a C-shaped saloon. Basically if you compare it to the 48 you miss a high low bathing platform, a smaller aft deck, and stern drive propulsion instead of line shafts. Stern drives do consume less to shaft or pods, although higher maintenance costs are to be had. Power for the Atlantis 44 comes from Cummins 350hp with an unusual for a European builder for having a Bravo Three dual propeller propulsion set up. So far there seems to be no Volvo option, we will see if this will change.
Technical Data:
LOA - 13.43 m (44ft)

Project: Codecasa 50 Serie Vintage

Codecasa the Italian super yacht builder presents this new interesting 50 meters project which also launches the new Vintage series line. Codecasa has so far in its history always produced sport yachts with planning hull and a complete alloy build, or the three decks moving palaces who in most cases have a steel hull, aluminium super structure and semi displacement underwater shapes. This new 50 Vintage will have a construction as the standard three decks Codecasa super yachts, that is of steel hull and alloy super structure. Its design focus is on having traditional looks like an axe bow coming from the early twentieth century ships, straight lines, and a stern which although sloop also represents the past. Accommodation will be for five double guest cabins of which three being VIP, and an owners apartment. Crew accommodation is for eight members in four cabins, plus a chief engineer and captains cabin. Power is from twin 2448hp Cat engines which will give a 17 knots top speed at light load, and a 12 knots cruise which gives a 6000 nautical miles range till you need to refuel one hundred thousand litres of diesel.

New Model: Mondomarine 40 Meters Semidisplacement

A success on the market for its super yachts induced Mondomarine to launch the 40 Metres Semidispacement. Unlike recent Mondomarine which are built of alloy or steel this 40 meter named Villa Reis was built in fiberglass composite material. This new model is based on an in house project by Mondomarine design team, with an interior by architect Luca Dini. The external lines of this 40 Metres Semidispalcement which is the the fifty fourth yacht boasting the logo by the Shipyard of Savona related to Mondo Group of Gallo D’Alba, are characterized, by the wheelhouse, perfectly circular and with a semi circle view. A difference is the positioning of the sun-deck area, provided with a Jacuzzi, in the outside bow area of the upper deck, instead to the usual stern cockpit or on the sun-deck. The interior layout, rather traditional in the layout and with a neo-classical touch, includes the owner’s suite complete with a study in the wide body area of the main deck, a large salon with dining room and the galley on the same deck. Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck while the upper deck includes a living room, a gym full of light, the Captain’s cabin and the wheelhouse. The interiors with their sober and elegant lines, the meticulous care for stylistic details, the use of light wood for the floors of salon and lounge and of Italian Walnut wood and Radica of Madrona for the furniture, the marbles of great value and the ceilings in light Alcantara make the rooms warm and comfortable and emphasize their classic and elegant character. Power is from twin MTU 1500hp which give a 17 knots top speed, a 15 knots cruise, and an economic 11 knots which gives 2600 nautical miles.

Project: Horizon 80 AquaCat

Taiwan boat builder Horizon continues to present new range and style of boats which go out of the usual thinking like that of its successful Mediterranean looking Elegance series. This time is turn for a Power Catamaran with the 80 AquaCat which knocks a mini Super Yacht size, thanks to its overall length of eighty one feet. As expected the 80 AquaCat benefits of the usual catamaran advantages of better stability, and less water resistance especially at medium speeds. This last equals to better fuel economy. Horizon also says minimum draft but there data state 1.50 metres which seems a standard and similar to a planning mono hull of this size. Accommodation for this two deck and a half will be for three guest cabins with owners stateroom on the main deck, and two identical VIP suites on the lower deck. Two other twin bunk cabins what look to be for the crew or kids on plan are located to fore peak of the hulls. The two deck and a half 80 AquaCat was designed by Australian architect Mark Ellis who has quite a resume of power catamarans to his name and here presents a twin bulbous hull shape.

Engine: Volvo Penta D13-800MC 800hp

Volvo Penta is introducing the D13, a new inboard marine diesel for marine commercial applications. The D13 in 800hp versions delivers impressive performance with low fuel consumption and minimal exhaust emissions. It is suitable for fast patrol boats in high speed operations as well as for performance work boats requiring low life-cycle costs. Massive low-end torque is also the feature of Volvo Penta’s inboard diesels from low rpm, a prerequisite for rapid and safe acceleration. The new D13 is equipped with Volvo Penta’s highly efficient twin-entry turbo with pulse charging, the power in each exhaust pulse provides the pulse pressure. The D13-800 features dual-stage turbo technology which helps produce a torque of over 2900 Nm even at 800 rpm. This gives superb acceleration with virtually no sign of smoke. Another important feature is that the D13 retains a very high torque throughout its speed range. This makes it possible to maintain good operating speed even with a heavily loaded boat or in rough seas. EMS 2, the engine control system developed by Volvo, regulates fuel injection and monitors engine conditions. The system controls the unit injectors, one per cylinder, which operate at a pressure of as much as 2000 bar and atomize the fuel for optimum combustion. The result of this efficient combustion is lower fuel consumption for the D13 than the previous model, at the same power output. The D13 is also very low on noxious emissions and particulates. All versions are certified to the IMO NOx Tier 2, EU IWW, and US EPA Tier 2 requirements. They also meet the upcoming US EPA Tier 3 emission regulations the world’s most stringent. The D13 is available with quick-shift reverse gear that provides very fast but soft shifting with a minimum delay. The reverse gear also comes with a low speed function as standard, which means that the speed when idling drops by 50%. Low-speed mode is available as an option for all reverse gears. The D13-800 have the same robust basic architecture as the Volvo D9, D11, and D16 inline-6 diesel engine platform. The platform features a robust block design, wet liners, rear-end transmission, ladder frame and a single cylinder head with overhead camshaft operating 4 valves per cylinder and the injectors. This contributes to smooth running, high reliability and long-term durability.

New Model: Astondoa 50 Fly

Astondoa launches its new 50 Fly model, a flybridge motor yacht of just fifteen metres which features incredible spaces for its size. May be the only sin for the Christian Gatto designed 50 Fly just as the smaller 44 sister is just for copying too much the triangle bow of a certain Italian builder, but for the rest the 50 Fly breaks new ground in this size for its space which is over whelming. The 50 Fly has also to be appreciated because it does this without looking too heavy on the lines. The most important area of the 50 Fly is its lower deck, this place having three double cabins, and two heads. Nothing new here, sure but the owners stateroom is full beam, and the third cabin is no bunk. So that is also an improvement on the Astondoa 55. You can also get an extra crew cabin which stands behind the master room as optional. The main deck is the other thing to like, and versus recent designs goes a bit backwards having a split level saloon with dining and helm in the raised part, and saloon with C-shaped sofa and entertainment desk on the lower welcome area. Power is from standard twin Cummins 600hp in a shaft propulsion configuration, although to get these spaces I am sure the ZF Integral vee drive units are used. None the less nothing wrong here, but according to some dealers web site an IPS option just as the smaller 44 should be available here with IPS800 choice.

Project: SACS 13 Strider

SACS present the 13 Strider project, which will be the third version of this hull first presented last year in limited edition Lancia di Lancia, and then followed by the recently launched Coupe model. The 13 Strider continues the Christian Grande collaboration who presents a rib cruiser with a lot of open spaces outside, but also offering a comfortable cabin for a couple below. Cockpit, sun pad and aft platform of the 13 Strider have unparalleled dimensions for the sizes offered here. An other interesting design element for the 13 Strider is the centre console with a sporty aggressive look. Outside is also space for a small galley in the cockpit, with a retractable bimini protecting this living area and aft sun pad from the sun. The interior design shows the high class of the rib with exotic wood, elegant furniture and trendy accessories. Four choices of power systems are available from two diesel; Cummins 350hp or FPT 480hp with surface drives, and petrol gasoline; twin Mercruiser 320hp or 425hp with stern drive.
