Ten boaters were saved as a seventeen meter Sunseeker sport yacht struck rocks and partly sunk at Agioi Apostoloi, west of Chania, in Crete on the afternoon of Thursday 23 July. Hellenic Coast Guard responded to the accident by dispatching a patrol boat saving the boaters first, with eight guests transferred to Chania old harbour, while the captain and owner onboard the yacht stayed onboard to save for the recovery operation. Chania Port Authority is investigating the accident, with this coming in moderate Force four Beaufort North winds. No pollution is reported from the accident with the yacht towed to a boat yard later in the evening.
The yacht in this accident is a Sunseeker Predator 58 as designed by Don Shead and produced from 1996 to 1999. The Predator 58 was a replacement to the Camargue 55, and was replaced with the first generation Predator 60.
