New Model: Salpa 35 Avantgarde

Back in 2010 Salpa was among the first European Italian boat builders to get into the centre console sport cruiser revolution, entered with the 30 GT model which is still in production today.  Twelve years later Salpa is back again with a new centre console sport cruiser, a different model to the GT series also offered in a 40 model with this new Avantgarde 35.  Forward thinking as its name suggests the new Salpa 35 Avantgarde is a walk around centre console sport cruiser with modern looking lines and the reverse shear bow which steals the attention outside.  Considering its exterior spaces and its size the Avantgarde 35 is also spacious below decks offering accommodation for four, in a forward double berth and twin berths at midships, with shower head and mini galley in between the sleeping areas.  But the forward thinking of the Salpa 35 Avantgarde continues in the power and propulsion options for the standard twin Yamaha or Mercury outboards from 250 up to 350hp engines to the single FNM 350hp diesel with line shaft with innovative option for a hybrid with 33hp electric motor set up.

Project: Salpa Laver 52X

Salpa presents the project for a new Laver 52X flagship set to replace the 50.5 launched in 2008.  The project of the Laver 52X is very much based on the 50.5 with similar interior layout and exterior lines.  The most visible change so far in the project rendering is the addition of new large view windows serving the cabins below deck.  Living will be all on the main deck and below deck is reserved for accommodation. The Laver 52X offers a three double cabins two heads layout with a forward owners room to fore, and larger guest VIP cabin to port side.  Power for the sixteen tons displacing Salpa Laver 52X come from twin Volvo 435hp with IPS pod propulsion, which if the numbers of the 50.5 model where correct should give max speed in the mid thirty knots.

New Model: Salpa 38x Laver

Salpa went to the 2015 Cannes boat show with an important new surprise model, that of the new 38x Laver.  Returning from the past is the famous Laver signature, famous for the 30 model from the early eighties designed by Italian deep-Vee hull legends and gurus Sonny Levi and Franco Harrauer. It will be interesting how much of that design is actually going into the 38x hull, but the bow as the picture above is all classic Laver style.  I am sure more interesting for many will be the deep Vee underwater shape, which Salpa although not making use of the designers themselves has always made good use of. The 38x is also in its size a big challenge to the competition, with a couple important features being not only interesting for a sport cruiser of eleven meters, but also rare to find as the flat floor on the main deck, and a second head serving the guest cabin at midships. The Laver 38x is powered by twin Volvo 300hp with stern drives.

New Model: Salpa 30.5 GT

Salpa headed to this years fall Genoa boat show with an important novelty that of the 30.5 GT. The latest Salpa gets a lot of interest first for its today hard to find legendary Renato Sonny Levi hull shape, and second for being another sport cruiser which offers a good mix of a day and cabin boat. Interesting is that many of the Sport Cruiser who are going for this new trend are from Naples, or have the design team which comes from the area. What strikes in the 30.5 GT is the nice glassed hard top which covers the double seat helm station. Outside of the 30.5 Gran Turismo is in fact a full day boat which makes use of all the length with a centre console served by a wet bar behind, a sun pad to fore reached from both sides with a walk around style staircase, and two L-shaped dinettes aft. An extended aft bathing platform reached with a central passageway from the cockpit competes the exterior fit out. Inside is a well laid space which considering the outside is quite spacious offering four berths, an L-shaped galley, and a separate shower head. The sleeping area is in fact a convertible V-shaped dinette to fore, and double berth located to mid ship. Power is for twin 300hp petrol gas engines, or 220hp diesel both with stern drives propulsion.
Technical Data:
LOA - 9.90 m (32.4ft)

Project: Salpa 30.5 Gran Turismo

Salpa presents the project of the 30.5 Gran Turismo which continues the trend of hybrid concepts coming from Italy like the Altantis Verve to the new Mano Gran Sport models. That is joining a walk around functionality with that of a cabin boat. The Salpa 30.5 Gran Turismo exterior will use all its deck to offer an aft with two L-shaped settees, central console helm with glassed hard top, fully equipped galley, and a sun lounger on the fore peak. Down below the 30.5 Gran Turismo can sleep four persons in two beds one coming from converting the U-shaped settee to fore, and double coming from mid ship. The head room surprises for space and a separate shower stall. Hull is to a design of legendary Renato Sonny Levi, although I do not know if this comes from the old 30 Laver or is a complete new concept. Whatever the case the roots of this legendary designer are there so if Salpa did good work in its research and design departments the 30.5 Gran Turismo should be one of the best riding boats in this size. Power is a standard of twin stern drives Volvo 200hp diesels.

Projects: Salpa 43.5, Salpa 39.5

Sapla presents two new projects which will fill the bigger sizes gap left empty with the introduction of the 50.5 flagship in the fall of 2008. The new projects both of Sport Cruiser style as all of the Naples builder models, are the 43.5 which is rather similar to the flagship, and the 39.5 which is a further evolution of the 38.5. The 43.5 pictured above will be the second in size Salpa, and apart looking similar to the 50.5 by the looks of its super structure and its integrated hardtop, gets close to its bigger sister also into its practical solutions. For example the 43.5 will offer a fully enclosed hard top thanks to patio doors, and just as the flagship is powered by Volvo forward looking IPS pods. Below the 43.5 will offer a three double cabins, six berth layout, with two heads. Here is also the galley, and a C-shaped saloon which can convert to an additional double berth, making the total beds for eight persons. Thanks to the sliding door and bulkheads, it is also possible to unite the owners suite and the main living below into an open plan layout. This system also seen on the Salpa 38.5 in 2002 and is rather unusual for a European boat, and apart increasing the real space, gives also better air circulation to the lower deck. The 43.5 again as the 50.5 will also have an additional but smaller galley on the main deck, and a second dinette under the hard top. Salpa is also promising similar fittings to what was seen on the appreciated 50.5 with hard and veneer woods, matched to chromed furnishing in its interior. As those familiar with the Salpa range notice the project of the 39.5 is a reworking of the 38.5, adding seventeen centimetres to the overall length aft in the bathing platform, and an open style hard top. For the rest the 39.5 keeps the much appreciated and difficult to find for a twelve metre sport cruiser three double cabins six berth interior accommodation layout. The 39.5 can be powered by various engine options but rather interesting is the 34 knots maximum, 27 knots cruise with twin Volvo 260hp. Rather optimistic this top speed I might add, but these figures come from the very similar 38.5, although I do think they represent a rather empty boat. The new 39.5 as all Salpa models from the 32.5 upwards will be certified to CE category A certification.

New Model: Salpa 50.5

The much waited new flagship of the Salpa range has been presented during the Cannes show last September. A much expected model from Salpa at over 50 feet, the 50.5 makes the Naples builder break into the yacht category, but also enters into the modern design philosophy thanks to a fully enclosed hard top with patio door, the use of Volvo IPS propulsion and also modern infusion building technology for the hull and GRP parts accept for the hardtop, which is hand laminated in Kevlar for minimum weight. Inside the Salpa 50.5 also features what has been the design revolution of modern opens, offering a lower deck dedicated all for the three double cabins and two very spacious heads, and a living upper deck saloon with galley opposite. The aft deck features a c-shaped settee which becomes a sun lounger by lowering the table. Salpa 50.5 beats also most of the competition for a double personal water craft stowage, offering a garage and a bathing platform with up and low movement.

Project: Salpa 50.5

The Salpa 50.5 project, is the new flagship for this Italian builder following the success the 38.5 Laver received since its presentation in 2003 and aiming to keep clients in the brand. The Neapolitan company renowned for building smaller sized boats and entry level sport cruiser with a good sea keeping quality thanks to hull design by Sony Levi, will aim with this new model to keep customers in the Salpa family. The new Salpa 50.5 will follow current trends in this size range, with Volvo IPS propulsion and a hardtop covered cockpit area which can be fully closed thanks to the patio door. The layout for the new flagship is a separated 2 level area with the upper deck for entertainment use and the lower deck reserved for the 3 cabins with spacious 2 heads, both featuring a separated shower area and a bidet.
