Project: Zurn 60 Powercat

Zurn Yacht Design has again teamed up with New England Boatworks to announce plans to build the Zurn 60 Powercat. This three-stateroom, five-head cruising yacht shows careful consideration for the comfort and privacy of passengers and crew with a truly revolutionary powercat layout. The concept from Doug Zurn, worked with a prospective owner with open-ocean cruising experience. New England Boatworks, located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is a leader in building power and sail yachts using advanced methods and materials. The New England Boatworks 60 Powercat is a groundbreaking design that showcases the out-of-the-box thinking that has long made Zurn Yacht Design a leader in the yachting world. The radical configuration starts with the main deck, where a master stateroom forward uses the full width of the deckhouse for a 270-degree field of view through expansive picture windows, as well as four large forward windows overlooking the fore-deck. The master is entered from a door on the starboard side deck and features a king-size berth on center-line, as well as a settee and a wide desk along the aft bulkhead, a suitable work-space for running the ship, or monitoring business interests from anywhere. Stairways to either side lead to his-and-hers head compartments located on the lower deck to port and starboard. A curving staircase at the entrance leads to the skylounge. The master stateroom has his-and-her heads, divided and situated on the lower deck in each hull, down a staircase on either side of the stateroom. Each of the heads has a dressing area with lockers, a sink with mirror, a private head compartment and separate shower with bench. A pair of mirrored guest staterooms are abaft the master, also on the main deck. Because these aft staterooms are on the main deck, guests are greeted by enormous windows looking out over the sea. Each guest stateroom is a paragon of privacy, with insulated bulkheads attenuating sounds from other guests. Each stateroom has twin berths, but doubles can be fitted. Plenty of stowage is concealed in finely finished joinery, ready to welcome guests for extending cruising. The guest staterooms each have their own head positioned directly beneath on the lower deck. The guest heads are equipped with a private toilet compartment and separate shower. Each guest head is insulated from the respective master head forward in each hull by a mechanical space where onboard equipment is housed, including water heaters, a water-maker, and more. While a main-deck master on a 60-foot cruising yacht may be pioneering, it’s the focus on cruising that makes the Zurn 60 Powercat revolutionary. The position of staterooms and heads is more than just convenience and spectacular views, it’s a design feature that allows the yacht to have the narrow hulls to create cruising efficiency and performance, as well as a draft of less than four feet. Powered with a pair of 435hp Volvo engines with IPS pod drives, the Zurn 60 Powercat is expected to cruise at 18 knots and top out at 23 knots, with a range of 500 nautical miles at 18 knots.

An optional crew cabin with single berth is lcoated aft . Project: WallyAce 500

Announced as the WallyAce D-47 during the Monaco yacht show 2018 this new project of the 500 continues to push the boundaries of yachting design.  Nothing new from Wally many will say.  The WallyAce 500 project is a three deck super yacht which puts a new meaning to open spaces, and glazed surfaces.  The way the exterior areas and the glassed surfaces are used being more akin to a modern villa then a super yacht. Technical wise little is known of this project but expect similar performances to the WallyAce 26 which featured a full displacement hull with cruising speeds of nine knots.

Project: Rosetti 52m Supply Vessel Yacht

The will to combine the functionality typical of a Supply Vessel with the design features and quality finish of a superyacht is the underlying foundation of the concept behind this 52-meter Supply Vessel, developed by Rosetti Superyachts with the Italian designer Giovanni Griggio, of Phi Design Lab. After the first announcement last year during the Monaco Yacht Show 2018, several inquiries were put forward and now the shipyard, which is specialized in the production of steel and aluminium yachts in the 35-140 meter range, has decided to reveal more details about this specific yacht. The shipyard was determined to offer owners a number of options, with a particularly flexible layout that allows to modify the configuration. A perfect example is the aft tender garage, which can be easily transformed into an eighty squared meter beach club. Opening the lounging decks on the topside creates a deep contact with the surrounding environment. Forward of this area are the gym and a spa, which include a sauna and Turkish bath, with natural light filtering through the transparent bottom of the swimming pool on the upper deck. The interaction between interiors and exteriors is evident on the main deck. The enormous 142 square meters aft deck, typical of a supply vessel and can be fitted with a helipad or a swimming pool, with a solarium and a living area. In this case the helipad also provides privacy, because it is raised compared to the rest of the deck, ensuring the owners and guests are out of sight when the yacht is moored in a marina. The deck and the main salon are developed on the same level and the possibility of opening the sliding doors completely allows to obtain a single, open space. The 52-metre Supply Vessel has a central living area and an asymmetrical layout on the two sides, with a full-width chaise longue on the left and two small armchairs on the starboard side.  The natural light, which valorises this setting free from the excessive partitioning typical of yachts of this size, is guaranteed by the large, full-height windows on the hull.  Forward of this deck, the owner has a dedicated area that includes a full-beam suite, walk-in wardrobe, private study, bathroom with double access and private hammam. Some details add a precious touch to the furniture, such as the stone-covered bed-head that contains a diffused lighting system.  The lower deck has double en-suite cabins for the guests, with double bed or twin singles. The forward section of this deck contains the crew’s quarters, which are connected to the galley on the main deck by dedicated aisles. The crew can access the guests’ cabins through a service door in the laundry area, so they do not need to walk through the common areas.  Lastly, on the sun deck, there is plenty of room to fit the dining area, which is connected to the galley through a food lift. An open-air cinema, with a folding screen, can be created in the forward section.

New Model: Numarine 78 HTS

The new Numarine 78HTS finally made its official world debut at the 2019 Palm Beach boat show.  This is the sport bridge version of the popular Numarine 78 HT, which was presented as a project some years ago.  The Numarine 78 HTS welcomes guests inside into its vast saloon filled with natural light thanks to over-sized glazing above and laterally. Contemporary furniture creates the ultimate entertainment space. Socializing is at the heart of the design. Inside there are a bar, large C-shaped sofa and dining area, while another lounge with a bar and over-sized transformable sun pads are located aft. The galley is moved below decks, and this decision allowed freeing even more space on the main deck.  All four cabins are on the lower deck. The full beam owner's cabin amidships features a unique design and encompasses plentiful wardrobe space, an open plan bathroom, walk-in shower, separate head and twin basins. Guest accommodation comprises of three very generously appointed ensuite cabins, each outfitted with the finest fixtures and amenities. Crew cabin is placed aft, next to the galley and also features a small dinette.  Numarine 78HTS is probably the quietest series-built yacht in her class today with a noise level of just 66dB in the lower deck area at cruise speed.  Outside, emphasis has been given to relaxation space with an ingenious sun-pad configuration at the bow that provides a place in the sun for any number of guests. A forward facing ultra-wide lounge seat offers the best view aboard when cruising at speed in absolute comfort and safety.  Of course, the important addition is the sport-fly, which allows guests to enjoy four large sunbeds and provides a fully equipped helm station in a privileged central position under the sun. To ensure full comfort for guests, the yacht is also fitted with a teak laid hydraulic bathing platform.  The new Numarine 78HTS is usually fitted with standard twin Man 1200hp, but hull one featured the optional more powerful twin Man 1550hp that allow up to 37 knots max speed and 27 knots cruise. The range is up to 400 nautical miles at best fast cruise.

blogger - Big a Tender

In recent years forty foot tenders for super yacht are starting to be considered the norm, now we have arrived to a size that some of these tender are actually also above eighty feet in size.  Sounding ridiculous to a certain extent.
Can a 24 meter plus or more super sport yacht be considered a tender?  May be we should ask Perini Navi that question as they did recently launch a 25 meter Eco Tender super sport yacht for a client who have one of its big super sailing yachts.
This big tender has created a new market in itself in the last four to five years, and some unusual builders even those that do not usually cater for this market are starting to dedicate themselves for it.  An unusual motor boat build is the recently launched Claasen 23 meter Chase boat
Coming from a couple decades back when eighty feet or more used to be considered very big, and now we have actually builders building chase boats or tenders to order it does sound a bit all strange.  Nonetheless this still another interesting part of the market if you really want to call them tenders.  Here we don't.

Azimut Wins Hat-Trick in Asia Boating Awards 2019

More than just an award, it is now a validation: for the third year in a row, the Italian shipyard has been recognized by the jury of the Asia Boating Awards as the Company that has worked hardest to grow and expand its brand in the region.  As every year, the gala ceremony coincided with the opening of the Singapore Yacht Show; the Azimut Yachts Asia team went on stage to receive the "Best Brand Presence in Asia" award, in recognition of the efforts made to further increase the brand awareness in the region through the organisation of events, innovative marketing activities and a carefully planned and widespread presence, thanks to the network of local service centres and dealers. Promoted by two of the most prestigious Asian magazines, "Asia-Pacific Boating" and "China Boating", the Asia Boating Awards, this year at their 15th edition, are now among the most renowned awards in the world, since, every year, they are able to select the best players in the yachting industry, including shipyards, marinas and yacht clubs, companies in this sector and private individuals.  Marco Valle, Azimut Yachts’ managing director, commented on the news as follows: "The recognition as the best brand in Asia, which comes just a few months after the 'Best Motor Yacht in Asia' award given to our Grande 25 Metri, can only make us even more proud of all the work done in this region, which clearly recognises both the characteristics of Italian design and the cutting-edge technology intrinsic to our models. For years our team has been active in the area, supported by a very good network of local dealers, to increase the strength of the Azimut brand and, above all, to make sure that each customer feels valued and well looked after. Feadship Inspires With Rebuild of 1954 Super Yacht

Feadship has embarked on a major rebuild of the 1954 motoryacht Istros, giving this 42-metre superyacht an all-new aluminium superstructure while retaining her elegant original hull. The result will be a virtually brand-new Feadship, built to the highest standards of Feadship quality and featuring the latest equipment.  Istros was originally built by Amsterdam Shipyard Ltd. G. de Vries Lentsch Jr. in 1954 and was one of the largest motor yachts built to date in the Netherlands at that time. Contemporary newspaper articles were most impressed with the luxurious outcome of a two-and-a-half-year project on behalf of the Greek shipping family Pappadakis. One journalist was awestruck by the violet-blue bathrooms, the advanced radar system and, most of all, by a white telephone which could be used to “call people anywhere in the word from wherever in the world the yacht may be.”

It is increasingly clear that "winning easy" is just a slogan and that to stay at the top and grow steadily as Ferretti Group has been doing for some years, it is necessary to move fast and remain responsive in a market that is constantly changing. Our shareholders, who in the 2015-2018 four-year period invested 154 million in Research and Development and reinvested in the company all profits earned are, fortunately, the first and most certain ones about the need to never stop. 'Never change a winning team’ but, if a champion arrives let’s make an exception. This is possible thanks to a 2018 that consolidated the Group's position from a complete financial relaunch point of view and certified its indisputable commercial capacity. In the navigation world, in exhibitions, in marinas, according to the sector professionals and to the nautical enthusiasts, Made in Italy and Made by Ferretti Group are the most important things, thanks to a record of style and inspiration that has brought us to where we are today and will lead us to even greater goals in the near future."  Furthermore, thanks to the 64 million euro invested in industrial capacity from 2015 to 2018, expansion and renovation works were carried out by the Group's shipyards. In particular, the Super Yacht Yard in Ancona was the focus of an ambitious renovation project aimed at creating an industrial hub at the highest level of innovation, technology and excellence that extended the area to over 80,000 square meters and that by 2020 will provide the plant with 10 construction sheds, a 670-ton travel lift and a private marina with 14 berths available.

Riva Thrills Public with the Master Bridge Tribute

A legendary and moving story told in true Riva style, with passion and originality. “The Master Bridge (La Plancia)”, screened in its premiere during the fourteenth edition of Cortinametraggio, is a tribute by Ferretti Group to the genius of Carlo Riva, two years after his death.  In 15 intense minutes, the film celebrates the historic headquarters in Sarnico. The star of the film, in fact, is the Plancia, Carlo Riva’s famous futuristic office that overlooks Lake Iseo.  Extending out over the lake like a majestic yacht, the office was designed by Riva himself along with architect Giorgio Barilani, and is considered an authentic architectural masterpiece. Carlo Riva was so fond of the Plancia that after he sold the shipyard, he rented it and continued to use it as his office for almost ten years.  The short film highlights the wonders of this magical space and the legendary history of the entire shipyard. The film treatment and direction are by Leopoldo Caggiano, who has already won awards at Cortinametraggio. The film tells the story of the journey of a young filmmaker, played by actor Gabriele Stella, in search of the secret and the essence of the Riva myth. Following an enlightening tour among the yachts under construction and an interview inside the Plancia with an enigmatic Giorgio Marchesi, who plays the shipyard manager, the young filmmaker grasps the enchanting power of the most famous speedboats in the world. The finale, evocative and surprising, is a touch of class that makes the heart race and evokes the poignant strength of the Riva myth.  Intense and measured performances were given by all the actors: along with Giorgio Marchesi and Gabriele Stella, also Elettra Mallaby and Claudia Gambino. “The Master Bridge (La Plancia)” was produced by Maddalena Mayneri’s Reef Comunicazione.  Two years after the death of Carlo Riva, the greatest creator of yachts of the modern era, to whose memory the film is dedicated, The Master Bridge celebrates the essence of Made in Italy craftsmanship, excellence and attention to detail.  Entrepreneurship, master craftsmanship, cutting-edge technologies and innovative design are in fact still the distinguishing features of the brand, enhanced by Ferretti Group and masterfully described in the film.  These are the same distinctive elements that over the years have strengthened the bond between Riva and the world of cinema, winning over international actors like Anita Ekberg, who owned a Tritone, or Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who used a Junior as the tender of their yacht. As well as Brigitte Bardot, photographed beautiful, wild, and free on the French Riviera on her Florida, or Sean Connery, who owned the historic Rudy model, and on to Sofia Loren and George Clooney. These and many other stars have chosen models from the Riva fleet, the symbol of essential elegance and icon of timeless style.

Forty Vikings from 42 to 82 feet and a record 475 participants descended upon the southernmost city in the United States last week for the 6th Annual Viking Key West Challenge. Ben Sharpe was the winning captain for the fourth time, leading the Viking 56 Gypsea to victory.  "The Key West Challenge has been a success every year, but this time around the energy level, excitement and fishing was at an all-time high," said Viking President and CEO Pat Healey.  After a captain's meeting at Dante's Tiki Bar that featured delicious food, fun prizes and lots of camaraderie, the teams headed off the following morning for a glorious day on the water. A total of 45 sailfish were released and one swordfish was caught on day one. Gypsea topped the Day One leaderboard with five sails released followed by the Viking 82 Mr. Grinch with four sails. The Viking 62 Tami Ann also released four sails and took third on time. The teams steamed back to the scales at Conch Harbor Marina to weigh their catches and pose for pictures. The Viking 44 Miss Peggy Sue II and captain/owner David Heeter stole the show with a 108-pound swordfish, which was donated for lunch the next day!  A pool party and lunch, a kids dock tournament and a poker run highlighted a relaxed but festive lay day. In the kids tournament, which was sponsored by The Billfish Foundation, Colin Dicembrino took first place, with sisters Ella and Mia Wilson placing second and third, respectively. "This is what it's all about - passing on the passion for fishing to the next generation," TBF President Ellen Peel said.  The fishing turned white hot on the final day, with 87 sails released. Last year's champ, the Viking 55 Ragin Cajun, was right on their heels with seven sails and a 21.4-pound tuna.  Gypsea had a solid day two as well, with five sails. But it was their dolphin that turned out to be the difference-maker. Project: Cantiere Delle Marche Deep Blue 43

Cantiere delle Marche is delighted to announce the sale of Deep Blue 43 a new, fully custom 43-meter explorer yacht designed by Horacio Bozzo Design.  Deep Blue 43 is the latest addition to the yard’s significantly active order book. The contract has been signed last December and the latest project details have been defined in these last few weeks. The yacht is already under constructionist with delivery due in 2021.  A full custom build, Deep Blue 43 will take full advantage of Cantiere delle Marche’s experiences and its approach to yacht building that has proven being extremely successful and rewarding for all parts involved. Deep Blue 43 has been commissioned by an experienced Owner who, in the past years, owned yachts built by shipyards such as Feadship, Lürssen, Blohm and Voss. He is a repeat client for CdM, a yard which gained his full confidence having enjoyed the feel of comfort and safety of his Darwin 102 cruising in the Med but also sailing the expanses of the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic and reaching the wild beauty of remote destinations and the best diving spots in the world.  The mutual trust established between this client and Cantiere delle Marche team is of extreme importance to the good result of the whole process that will lead to the completion of a complex project such as Deep Blue 43.  Deep Blue 43 inaugurates a new collaboration with a world-renowned yacht designer: her exterior lines have been designed by Horacio Bozzo Design who is based in Viareggio Italy.  Her clean, vaguely severe profile with a raked bow and compact superstructure captures the very soul of an explorer vessel combining it with the elegance of a luxury yacht that will stand the test of time. All shapes, volumes and lines compose a harmonious geometry while her roomy body encompasses luxury social areas and very large and comfortable crew quarters, as requested by the Owner whose plans include long term cruising to reach the farthest corners of the world.  Guest areas are spread over three decks plus a Sun Deck. Deep Blue 43 features a nicely organized interior layout with twelve guests accommodated in six suites, four on the Main Deck and two on the Lower Deck. A cozy saloon on the Main Deck and a large panoramic sky lounge on the Upper Deck are at guests disposal to relax in comfortable and bright environments. A huge cockpit features all amenities including a large swimming pool and lots of space to relax. Deep Blue 43 interior designer is still to be disclosed.  Deep Blue 43 has a full displacement naval architecture by Sergio Cutolo Hydro Tec office, offering large volume 440 Gross Tons and the smoothest of travel even in rough seas ensuring excellent comfort and total safety. Engineering has been developed by the yard technical department in collaboration with Hydro Tec.  With a total length of 42.9 metres, a beam of 8.60m, thanks to hull geometry, large fuel tanks, and extremely frugal consumption, Deep Blue 43 will have an extraordinary range.
