Hunt Yachts New Web Site

Hunt Yachts presents its new web site.  Hunt Yachts was founded in 1998, as the boat building subsidiary of C. Raymond Hunt Associates which started in 1966, following the exploits of its founder Ray Hunt who invented the deep-V hull in 1957 with the launch of his designed 23-foot launch as build by Bill Dyer in Rhode Island.  This hull shape then evolved into Richard Bertram's 30 Moppie which convincingly won the 1960 Miami-Nassau race, and changed and entered motor boating into its modern today era.  Prior to his motor boating exploit Ray Hunt had already made a name for himself in sail yacht design debuting with the Concordia 25 and 40 yawls in 1938, the International 110 in 1939, and then by designing the Americas Cup 12 meter Easterner US-18 in 1958, which was beaten to defend the cup by Columbia as designed by Olin Stephens.  Ray Hunt sail boat and yacht design will continue till 1996, a portfolio which includes; Concordia, International, O'Day, Paceship, Ranger, Tanzer, Cal, and Nautor Swan, and is joined by designing motor boats for Bertram, Boston Whaler, Burger, Camper and Nicholsons, Cruisers, Chris-Craft, Emocean, Four Winns, Grand Banks, Grady White, Grand Banks, Hinckley, Lyman-Morse, Palmer Johnson, Regal, Robalo, Royal Huisman, Sea Ark, Southport, Wellcraft, and probably some more.  The deep-V and Bertram, of which he was designer from before the companies debut in 1960 up to 1970, played an important role in the success Ray Hunt will have in motor boating design.  Hunt Yachts first model was a 33 foot single engine motor boat, the 33 Express which debuted in 1999 and was followed by the Surfhunter variant a year later.  In 2013 Hunt Yachts was acquired by the Hinckley Group.  Today Hunt Yachts offers four models of traditional down-East inspired looking yachts which start from 56 and go up to the 76, while its largest build to date was the Hunt 80 as produced in two units in 2015 and 19.  Hunt Yachts new website takes you around with the following buttons; Yachts, Experience, Yachtcare, and Contact, while bottom page buttons take you to the; FaceBook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin social media pages.

Project: Hunt 68 Express Flybridge

Hunt presents the 68 Express Flybridge project. With this new option for the 68, the Hunt designers take the looks of the 68 to new places, and make it stand away from the down East lobster boat features of the Sedan version, making the Express Flybridge feel more like a classic motor yacht from the eighties.  The design of the 68 Express Flybridge also features different windows in the pilot house, to enhance its status as a different boat. The flybridge will have two access staircases; one from the aft deck, and another inside to starboard conveniantly located behind the helm. On standard plan the flybridge will feature a central helm station with pilot and passenger seats, L-shaped dinette, and a free aft deck. For the remaining part the Hunt 68 Express Flybridge copies the interior layout of the Sedan with three double cabins below, aft crew cabin, office space, and a split level saloon with dinette and galley on main deck. Performance numbers are a top speed of 28 knots with twin Cats 1150hp.

Project: Hunt 80 Sport Motoryacht

Hunt is proud to announce it is building its largest model yet: the 80 Sport Motoryacht. An experienced yachtsman who also owns a 25 Harrier 25 has commissioned this new Hunt 80 flagship. Like the rest of the Hunt range of traditionally styled, elegant, functional and performance-oriented vessels, the 80 Sport Motoryacht features a hull and superstructure designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, whose founder, Ray Hunt, invented the deep-V hull. Powered by twin 1600hp diesels mated to Hamilton water-jet drives, the new 80 is projected to have a top speed of 31 knots, this combined with a draft of just 4 feet. It is due to launch in the summer of 2015. The new Hunt 80' is based on a hull design that C. Raymond Hunt Associates conceived as a platform for a variety of yachts in the 63 to 82 feet size range. Its deep-V configuration and moderate beam enable it to slip easily through the water, enhancing the vessel’s speed and sea-kindliness in rough offshore conditions. This platform made its debut with the Hunt 68 Motoryacht, an offshore cruiser with attractive lines and outstanding performance. In the 80 Sport Motoryacht, the design firm has maintained those attributes while greatly expanding the living and entertaining spaces and adding a fully enclosed raised command flybridge. The owner worked intensively with the Hunt design team over a six-month period on the design of his highly customized new project. What started out as a 75 motoryacht quickly morphed into an 80-footer due to the owner’s desire for more open-air space on the flybridge and main decks. The tender was moved down to the extended swim platform in order to keep the aft portion of the flybridge clear for use as a sundeck. He also specified that the vessel’s draft be 4 feet so he could use it in the shallow waters of Florida and the Bahamas. The Hunt 80 Sport Motoryacht series features a three-stateroom layout with a full-beam master suite amidships, plus a fourth, “bonus” bunkroom that can accommodate a child, a nanny or another member of the owner’s staff. The lower deck layout also includes a separate crew quarters aft with a double stateroom for the captain and a bunk for another crew member. The main deck encompasses a large galley, dining area, and main saloon opening onto a large open-air aft deck sheltered by the flybridge overhang. The semi-custom Hunt 80 and 68 Motoryachts are only the first two examples of the wide range of yachts based on this successful hull platform that are available from the partnership of C. Raymond Hunt Design and Hunt Yachts, LLC, the builder.

Project: Hunt 25 Harrier Sport

Hunt Yachts is proud to announce the project of the 25 Harrier Sport. Sharing the same hull and solid engineering as the highly regarded Harrier series, the new 25 Sport is pure, unadulterated, Hunt.  Designed for maximum enjoyment and entertaining on the water and minimum maintenance, the Hunt 25 Sport is engineered to be both easy to own and put away at the end of the day, and as always with Hunt, great to run and ride offshore. Its rough water bred hull promises to deliver boaters excellent sea keeping.  Its cuddy cabin includes a berth and a head for the over nighter on the go. As practical as it is sporty and elegant, the 25 Sport takes on any assignment. It’s the perfect tender, sportfishing, chase, ski and wake-boarding boat, day cruiser, and dive support platform.  It features a three by seven feet sunpad aft to relax on. The 25 Sport is designed to look futuristic yet retro-classic. Comfortable contoured wraparound cockpit seating blends stylishly with a sixties Porsche inspired windshield and upholstered dash where a stereo and Garmin chart plotter are standard. A cockpit entertainment system includes an entertainment console with sink, refrigerator/freezer and trash can.  Built to last with modest care, the Hunt 25 Sport will also run just as well a generation from now as it does today. All-composite construction and intelligent engineering create a high-integrity hull and deck structure of great strength at moderate weight. Volvo sterndrive power from 320 to 430 horsepower is available.

Improve-it = Hunt 44 Express Sedan

Hunt yachts has recently delivered hull number two of its 44 Express Sedan, and in its second built the US builder already shows its flexibility to customise its models to clients demands. While both of the first Hunt 44 Express Sedan's where powered with Volvo 435hp engines and IPS 600 pods drives, there was some important differences in the second launch.  The owner of hull two for example opted for more modern raked express side windows, instead of the standard port holed on the bridge deck and used the space opposite the galley for a convertible settee; with a clever sliding bulkhead that mates with a hinged door allowing this space to be closed off when guests are aboard overnight and this is transformed to a double berth.  Another difference was the open space aft of the engines which is in standard form is a tender garage, and allows for a small extra cabin to be located beneath the bridge. In hull one this space is an utility room with wine cellar, trash compactor and storage lockers; in number two here was the location for a single berth sleeping cabin.  Hull three of the Hunt 44 Express Sedan is currently in completion phase to be finished in August of which will be the boat show model to be shown for the fall of this year.

Project: Hunt 68 Express Cruiser

Hunt yachts presents the project and initial rendering designs for a new flagship which will increase its size offer by sixteen feet, the 68 Express Cruiser.  As all other Hunt, the 68 Express Cruiser will inspire itself to a modern down East lobster boat design, with a fully enclosed main deck which opens up thanks to sunroof, electric windows, and patio doors.  Her interior will be a three double cabins plan, with an office, full beam owners stateroom, and an aft located crew cabin for one person.  The main deck is a smart single level arrangement and will feature an open galley plan, joining with the saloon, and helm station to starboard.  The Hunt 68 Express Cruiser will also offer two engine choices from twin Cat 1150hp, to optional 1900.  Propulsion will also be a diverse choice from standard shafts, to optional IPS, and jet drives.

Improve-it = Hunt 52 Express

Hunt 52 Express Cruiser hull number 6, arrived to be the first IPS propulsion with Joystick Control. Not only does her performance exceed all expectation in ride, speed and fuel efficiency, but the layout is just perfect for those families who frequently cruise as two persons, yet occasionally might need to accommodate more couples or children and friends.  That is because the Hunt 52 Express with Volvo forward looking dual propellers pods drives can easily be designed with a three staterooms layout. The spacious salon can be arranged as a living room suite with two barrel chairs, settee and convertible dinette table.  The performance numbers are impressive and the IPS version also features smaller fuel capacity of 2270 liters, that is 290 liters less to the standard Cats 710hp shaft engined model, and 570 liters minus of the Cats 1001hp choice.  Yet with this less capacity it still delivers a range of 300 nautical miles at cruise speed.  Same as the Cats 710hp yet with less fuel. Top speed with the 690hp IPS900 is a 30 knots max, and a 25 of cruise.

Project: Hunt 44

Following the introduction of the 52 flagship in early 2009, Hunt Yachts follows it with a similar slightly smaller 44 project also aimed at filling the void left between the old large 36 Harrier model. If it ain't broken don't fix it or so they say, and the 44 follows similar exterior line looks, wanting to capture Hunt owners and fans who taught the 52 was too big to own and handle. The 44 has a plan of a two cabin, two head lower deck. To note here is the very spacious owners en-suite head, with separate shower stall. The guest cabin is a two berths in a bunk cabin configuration. The main deck will be fully dedicated to relaxing and entertaining of the guests and owners, and will be of the patio door easy to close type. Here is a longitudinal saloon, with two moving sofas, which if desired can be moved to the outside deck. A galley is located below. Tender stowage also follows the 52 style with a garage able to handle a well sized private water craft. Power starts from the smaller optional Volvo 435hp IPS propulsion unit, to the standard twin Cats 455hp on shaft drives. Other optional units are Cats 567hp, to the most powerful 593hp Cummins. This last should give 30 knots top speed as does the smaller engine but more efficient Volvo IPS optional.

Improve-it = Hunt 52

Hunt Yachts is adding a new flybridge option to its 2009 introduced 52 flagship model. This option for the 52 will add a second helm station up top, and another entertainment alfresco deck. Access to the fly deck will be from a stair case located on the aft cockpit. For the rest this new option builds on the standard versatile 52 designed by the deep Vee inventor heritage firm C. Raymond Hunt Associates. The 52 offers a varied lower deck plan too which can change and offer a full beam owners cabin with the Volvo IPS900 option. Various power options from twin Cats 705hp up to 1001hp engines are available, this last delivering top speeds of 35 knots.

Projects: Hunt 29 Surfhunter Coupe, Hunt 33 Surfhunter Coupe, Hunt 36 Harrier Coupe

In a market where boat builders have scaled back on new model introductions, Hunt Yachts greets 2010 with three new hardtop coupes, each built on an acclaimed and proven deep-V hull designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates. This Coupe series is initially being introduced for three designated models: 29 Surfhunter, 33 Surfhunter, and the 36 Harrier. Adding the Coupe line at Hunt Yachts is a response to owners and admirers of the original, award-winning express line of Surfhunters and Harriers, requesting more all weather climate cruisers. The hardtop and side windows allow those at the helm and in the settee area to be more cosseted in air-conditioned or heated comfort, extending not only the Coupe’s cruising capability but also adding days to the boating season. The Coupe’s hardtops with twin open hatches as standard which can be changed to the optional sliding sunroof, provide complete weather protection, increase the privacy of the bridge deck areas, allow overhead interior lighting and provide rooftop stowage for water toys. In addition to the overhead openings, the side windows slide open too for natural ventilation. Handrails along the hardtop make passage on the side deck safe and secure. The interior of the Coupe’s enclosed bridge deck is richly and warmly finished in wood, with large tempered glass windshields bringing clean visibility for captain and passengers whether underway or in-port. The interior layout varies by model size with 29 Surfhunter Coupe above offering a vee shaped saloon which converts to a double berth, galley and a separate shower head. The cockpit keeps the concept as the open with an aft bench seat, and an L-shaped to port this in this case of the Coupe can become a second dinette covered by the hard top. Speeds is a 37 knots with the standard single 370hp petrol gas Volvo engine. Diesel options starting from a smaller 315hp Yamnar to 435hp Volvo are available. Hunt also offers a selection of propulsion choice for the 29 Surfhunter Coupe of three options: stern drive, shaft or jet. The 33 Surfhunter is the second in size Hunt to be offered in the new Coupe hardtop all weather version. The concept here is similar to the 29, with the 33 Surfhunter Coupe offering also a similar exterior, and interior plan but with the advantage of having extra dimensions in length and in beam. This extra length gives also some bonuses below offering a dining double bench seat to port, which adds with the vee berth, the galley and separate shower head. Power is from a standard single 380hp Yanmar which delivers 31 knots of top speed. Other engine choices are Volvo and Cummins from 370 up to 480hp, always propelled with a direct shaft line. According to Hunt Yachts the 33 Surfhunter Coupe should also be the last model to be put in the water of the three hard top projects. The 36 Harrier Coupe is the largest of the three new projects, but second of them to go in production just behind the 29 Surfunter Coupe. Being larger in size and also offering an outside second cockpit galley arrangement the all weather hardtop Coupe does also make a lot of sense to this all weather offering with the usage of a thirty six feet Traditional Cruiser full year round. The layout of the 36 Harrier is similar to the 33 Surfhunter, but in bigger dimensions and offering a bonus of a second galley or wet bar in the cockpit to starboard, behind the helm station. Engines are also the other difference to the smaller Hunt Yachts here with the 36 Harrier Coupe offered with twins and a standard 380hp Yanmars which give 36 knots in top speeds. Other choices are Volvo 300hp up to 435hp, with propulsion options being traditional in line shaft standard, and jet or Volvo IPS pods as optional.
