New Launch: Feadship 83.50m Hull. 686

Feadship has launched the 83.50 meter hull. 686, titled m/y Savannah she is the first superyacht to feature an eco-friendly blend of single diesel engine, three generator sets, batteries, propeller, azimuth thruster and a streamlined hull shape. Offering fuel economies of thirty per cent, the pioneering electro-mechanical propulsion platform marries Feadship’s past experience and forward thinking approach within a pure custom creation. Further innovation comes in the form of a floating superstructure, an underwater lounge, the ‘open’ aft deck areas, and much more besides.  Inspired by the 2010 Feadship Future Concept Breathe, Savannah is a demonstration of the cost-effective and cleaner mode of propulsion that can be achieved within an entirely bespoke superyacht. Hull. 686 has a dynamic hull shape with a very fine entry, uses one efficient medium-speed Wärtsilä main engine instead of two higher-rev diesel motors, a single central propeller shaft installation on the centre-line and three generator sets. Redundancy is ensured by fitting a large counter-rotating and azimuth stern thruster just aft of the main propeller. The design of the aft ship allows for a propeller that is forty per cent larger than the norm. Combined with the power supplied by the thruster, the load on the propeller is only half that of a conventional twin screw yacht. This again results in a higher efficiency and fewer vibrations. In addition, the large stern-thruster also ensures excellent manoeuvrability in marinas. Taken as a whole, the package offers major benefits in terms of fuel saving and consists of five modes: manoeuvring, diesel-electrical, range, high speed and boost. This guarantees a high level of reliability and a better engine load than any other superyacht afloat today.

Project: Raffaelli 56 Maestrale

It is model name return; Maestrale is Italian translation to North-West a prevailing wind of the Mediterranean sea which Raffaelli give for the second time coming a tribute.  In 1994 Raffaelli presented a project for a 52 Maestrale, designed by growing in demand architects Nuvolari Lenard from Venice.  It was a historical success and the 52 Maestrale will stay in production for over a decade selling over one hundred units. Twenty years later to the launch of the 52, Raffaelli present another Maestrale with the project for this new 56. Designed by Classstudio of Antonello Lucio Pontevolpe, the architect behind recent successful Raffaelli models from the Shamal, Meltemi, to the Calima.  For the new 56 Maestrale, Pontevolpe went for a very low profile upper structure flybridge and a nice sportster type wrap around windscreen. If this rendering will be true to the original from the distance the 56 Maestrale may look as a sport yacht. Details are so far little for this new important project but on the paper side Raffaelli seems to be challenging the market for a full return as is the desire of owner Giampiero Raffaelli.

Project: Mulder 1700 Favorite

Mulder Shipyard signed the first order for a 1700 Favorite. Mulder has started with the naval architecture of the largest full aluminium Favorite and the hull construction began in mid-February. The seventeen meter long Mulder will have her berth in the Netherlands and is expected to be delivered in spring 2016. The 1700 Favorite model is in line with the popular 1500, where all the unique features of the line smaller models are merged and enhanced. The classically lined Favorite is developed in close cooperation with Guido de Groot Design and Vripack Naval Architects. The layout of the distinctive yacht with recognizable retro lines is fully optimized with three spacious cabins, two bathrooms and a kitchen with a breakfast corner. The Mulder 1700 Favorite has a beautiful twin-screw round-bilge hull and will reach a maximum speed of 22 knots. She serves as a perfect day-cruiser, but is also very suitable for longer voyages on inland-waters and open sea.

New Launch: Wim Van Der Valk 27.21m Hull no. WV0098

Wim van der Valk is a Dutch builder who in recent years has started to raise its stakes in the custom super yacht market, by presenting a line of important projects. The Continental III range is the most Mediterranean looking of the current offers from Wim Van der Valk and presents itself as a two deck plus raised pilot house pocket size super yacht designed by renowned Dutch architect Giudo de Groot.  The 26.00 is the first Continental III model to launch out of a line up which will feature six models which span from 25 up to 37 meters. Build of alloy and powered by triple Volvo with IPS pods the 26 meter Continental III surprises for some important details, and as being one of the smallest super yachts to feature a main deck owners stateroom.  Below will be four other guest cabins, all located in the central part of the hull. The forward part features two crew cabins, with a lobby featuring an L-shaped settee.

Project: Cruisers 59 Cantius

Its a great time for US builders, who finally in recent years seem to have find an alignment with European design.  Cruisers have been such a builder and the Cantius range has been the name it used to challenge Europe from the USA in Wisconsin. Designed by Patrizio Facheris for exterior and Luiz de Basto inside, the 59 is the fourth Cantius, and will be Cruisers new flagship and so far its largest build to date. As all the Cantius the 59 is an enclosed hard top sport cruisers with two exterior lounging entertainment areas; aft and fore-deck, living with astern galley layout, lounging saloon small galley below deck, and two large guest cabins. The sleeping accommodation plan offers what looks on plan as two super sized cabins for this size; midships for the owner, and forward VIP for guests. She is to be powered by Volvo 725hp units with IPS forward looking pod drives .

blogger - UCINA Again

It is sad to see the Italian association of boat builders at it again, with some important names leaving the union in what is told as a clash of the titans.  It is a pity that in this period of crisis the Italian national nautical industry main players continue to clash, where in these times it might be important doing the opposite, to form more group and make team work a high priority.

The new President of UCINA, Carla Demaria has a handful work in its hands. It's election was not praised by important names, these include Ferretti Group, Azimut-Benetti Group, Baia, and Gavio Holding; owners of Baglietto, Cerri, and currently in an acquisition promise on US Bertram.   

2014 showed a shy plus sign of 2014 of +1% in the national Italian market, after years of decline. The main critic against Demaria seem to be that she is still a representative of Beneteau Group the French gigantic boat builder owner of handful brands, this including the Montecarlo Yachts brand; presided by Demaria but operated, manufactures its yachts in Italy, and employing three hundred plus of personnel in the hangars in Monfalcone.   

It will be interesting what will be the next UCINA move. Can you do a boat show with such important names not being part of the package of Genoa. Most of the medium small sized builders today have other problems to think, that is to survive themselves, rather then helping UCINA out of its crisis. In reality they are right UCINA is there to help them, not to create another problem to the list.

Azimut Yachts Thailand Grand Opening

Double event for the opening of Azimut Yachts in Thailand: a gala for the opening of the luxurious Azimut Lounge on the coast of Pattaya with the participation of local authorities was followed by the official signing ceremony of the partnership agreement with MGC Marine at the presence of the Italian Ambassador. The agreement represents an important step, not only to strengthen the brand's presence in the area, but also to promote nautical tourism in the whole country. As part of the Azimut Yachts growing strategy, the Italian brand belonging to the Azimut|Benetti Group continues to expand its presence on foreign markets through a focused strategy of partnership with new dealers. MGC Marine has recently been appointed as the sole authorized importer and distributor of Azimut Yachts, valued at over a billion euro for Thailand, under the brand name Azimut Yachts Thailand. MGC Marine is part of the Master Group Corporation (Asia), major dealer in the automotive retail business, including luxury brands as Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin. Besides presenting the first three Azimut Yachts products, ranging from 50 to 85 feet, MGC Asia officially opened ‘Azimut Lounge’, the exclusive reception area for clients of Azimut Yachts in Thailand at Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya, an hour and a half drive from Bangkok. The Governor of Pattaya and local authorities, attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 25. The Azimut Lounge provides full service coverage for all yachting needs, while the company plans to open its second Azimut Lounge in Phuket within twelve months. To celebrate the signing of the partnership agreement with MGC Marine, the following day an official ceremony was then held in Bangkok at the presence of the Italian Ambassador and was attended by 150 local journalists and TV. Bavaria Racing Regatta

The Bavaria regatta scene is meeting in Croatia San Francisco for America´s professional sailors is like the coast of Croatia for the international regatta scene for sailors. All in all four big regatta Cups are challenged for in the Kornati in the upcoming season and the season ends with the 1000 mile race from Biograd to Lefkas and back. A field of more than 100 Bavaria yachts are not uncommon in these regattas. They sail at all regattas with one design classes such as the Cruiser 40 S, or with an open class with spinnaker such as the Cruiser 45 or 46. Sailors with high sporting ambitions enjoy tough competition for the prizes. Sailors who only enjoy sailing, but also like it to compete with each other, find the right competitor in the Cruiser 46 class. The 15th Kornati Cup anniversary kicks off the regatta season where a total of 100 yachts will start at this traditional regatta. The experienced tournament committee with the legendary race director Gert Schmidleitner limits the number of participants. The course of the Kornati Cup starts in Murter and the first stage progresses to the island Piskera in the national park of the Kornati. Situated at an extremely important marina there is only a maximum of 100 yacht moorings which is the reason for the limited amount of participants. Next to this medium distance race course from Murter to Piscera along the beautiful islands of the Kornati, there is another shorter course. Despite the legendary evening parties of the Kornati Cup, the sporty race is of primary importance at the racing cup. Another short course and the medium course are the second stages, before the race ends at Murtur again.

Bertram Aquired by Gavio Group

It has been finalized 31 March the contract for the acquisition by Gavio Group of the brand Bertram, historical yachting brand in the United States. The closing of the deal, realized through the subsidiary Bertam LCC, US company, follows the agreement signed last February 5, 2015 with Ferretti Group. With the closing of the deal, Gavio Group ranks at the top of the international yachting with a portfolio of high level brands such as Baglietto, Cerri Cantieri Navali and finally Bertram that represents an icon of the yachting in United States and in the world.

Ferretti Group, leader in the design, construction, sale and service of luxury motor yachts, with a unique portfolio of prestigious brands that rank among the most exclusive in the global yachting industry, inaugurated its new Milan HQ today, right in the heart of the city. During the press conference, Alberto Galassi, Chief Executive Officer of Ferretti Group, presented their strategies for growth and expansion over the next three years, hot on the heels of the increase in capital worth €80 million, fully subscribed and paid up by majority shareholder, Weichai Group, with the aim of consolidating and underpinning its net worth and supporting a relaunch that includes a series of targeted actions to implement new strategies and directions. The Group is focusing on the continued development of the core brands in its portfolio - particularly Riva, Ferretti Yachts, Pershing and Custom Line - involving investments in product development and research worth over €50 million over the three year period spanning 2015-2017, that will fund the launch of 27 new models. The new Riva Superyachtdivision is part of this new direction, endorsing the decision by the historic and iconic brand to enter the 50-metre-plus super yacht segment. Thanks to the efforts of the new management team, Ferretti Group saw its losses more than halved in 2014 compared to 2013 despite a particularly challenging market situation, resulting in a net loss of circa €40 million, with bank borrowing at an all-time low in the history of the Group, amounting to just €34 million at the end of 2014.  The launch of new models and the efforts to develop markets in the years to come, are signs of the Group’s hopes and intentions to reach break-even and achieve sales volume worth €542 million by the end of 2017, compared to estimated sales of €373 million by the end of 2015 and €392 million in 2016. The Group also expects to see steady growth in its margins over the next three years, and aims to achieve a positive EBITDA of €16 million in 2016, expanding to €44 million in 2017.

Horizon Honored With Taiwan Excellence Award

Competing against 1,144 products from 448 companies, the Horizon PC60 power catamaran was recently awarded the Taiwan Excellence Award and is now a contender for the highest honor of Taiwan Excellence, the Gold Award. Horizon won our first Taiwan Excellence award in 2010 with our solar-powered yacht the SC46, and the PC60 is the seventh Horizon yacht to receive the this highest honor for “Made in Taiwan” products – we hope the PC60 will sit alongside the EP148 expedition yacht, a winner last year, as recipients of the coveted Gold Award.

North-Line Open Yard

On Saturday the 25th of April North Line and Consonant Yachts of Harlingen, builders of the seaworthy North-Line grp and Kuster steel motor yachts, will open their doors. From 11:00 until 16.00 hours, everyone is welcome in Harlingen to become acquainted with the boatyard and its work. Visitors will be able to view six models in production and at various stages of completion, including the North-Line 42, North-Line 37, North-Line 800 and various stages of the new North-Line 50. Also the Kuster Club called KusterKring will visit the yard so more than 15 visiting Kuster Yachts can be viewed. Visitors will have the opportunity to see what is required to build seaworthy motor yachts in steel and GRP. Also on view will be the moulding of a grp hull, an engine installation and the fitting of carpet to an interior.

An extremely strong surge of registrations for the 2015 Riviera Festival of Boating – which this year includes 11 brand-new educational workshops – has prompted a timely reminder for people to book early to secure places for their preferred events. Storm welcomed many colleagues from the industry to it’s stand at Boot Düsseldorf, including yacht brokers and yard representatives. This is how Storm came in contact with the enthusiastic Jens Arne Dammyr, CEO of the Oslo-based Aker Yachts AS. Together with his brother Tore, he had been following the developments surrounding Storm Yachts for some time, and now sees good opportunities for our extensive product portfolio in the Nordic region. Aker Yachts AS introduced StormYachts in the Nordic region during the Oslo Boat Show (19 to 22 March). Meanwhile, the expansion of the StormYachts sales network in Europe will continue apace. Storm is always in discussions with several companies who wish to represent the company in their own region.

Viking Healey Foundation

We at the Viking Yacht Company are passionate about more than just boat building, we are also passionate about our charitable organizations. Presently, the Healey International Relief Foundation (HIRF) is involved in a major program in the war torn country of Sierra Leone, especially in the Ebola crisis, where we are on the ground providing food, supplies and vetting partnerships with several pharmacology companies for a solution to this life threatening infectious disease. Viking and SAMS

Established during the 1980s to advance and promote the importance of qualified and capable marine surveyors, the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) recently held their two-day Northeast Regional Meeting and Educational Seminar at the Viking Yacht Company. The event included seminars on testing equipment, ABYC standards, liability and vessel valuation issues, fire investigation processes, electrical systems and several other critical sessions pertaining to boat and marine safety. Nearly 60 SAMS personnel from Maine to Maryland attended the meeting, which included a tour of the Viking factory.

Hats off to Team Galati for their win at the Los Suenos Signature Triple Crown, Leg #2 amongst a field of 40 boats and 161 anglers. Team Galati, a Viking 66 captained by Tony Carrizosa started off strong and held onto the lead finishing in the top spot with 80 sailfish releases. Angler Carmine Galati claimed Third Place Angler with 25 releases. Captain Tony and Carmine were joined by anglers Bob Hixson, Pat Healey, Drew McDowell and Don Gemmel on Team Galati. Bob, Pat, Carmine, Drew and Don have been fishing Los Suenos billfish tournaments since their inception in 2004.

Project: Carver C43 Coupe

Carver present the project for a C43 Coupe which continues its revamp of the models from the US builder. The C series introduced a couple years ago with the 34, today represents all the Carver line up and the C43 is to be the new flagship. The C43 is a fully enclosed hard top sport cruiser, with a spacious aft deck, and a galley saloon up cabins below interior layout. Below deck is two cabins with a spacious owners room forward served by it's owner en-suite shower head, and a twin berth guest cabin to starboard.  Power is twin Cummins 480hp engines.

New Launch: Benetti 56 meter FB267

Italian classicism this is Benetti latest fully custom 56 metre super yacht which strikes immediately your attention thanks to its instantly striking profile. Project: Grand Banks 44 Eastbay SX

Grand Banks introduces the project for a new 44 Eastbay SX, a new entry level model for this Downeast inspired line, scheduled to debut the fall of 2015. New Model: Fairline 38 Targa Shadow-S

This Fairline new model the 38 Targa Shadow-S could have been part of the Improve-it section in PowerYacht since this model is in short words a 38 Targa Open with a dark grey color, orange cushions, and more high quality materials inside. But since Fairline labels the Shadow-S as a new model we follow this decision. A lot of critics where born from the Shadow-S on the British forums, since the expectations of a new model and direction by Fairline always arise big talk between fans and people interested in the brand. To be fair to Fairline we have seen other builders doing much or less the same, since is not the first time we see builders changing a model name for the addition of a larger bathing platform, or a window profile change.  As they say in marketing the important is the talk on a brand, and surely with the 38 Targa Shadow-S Fairline managed that. At this point it will be interesting to see if Fairline will decide to introduce more high profile Shadow-S models of the other bigger Targas.

Project: Cerri 100 Comfort

Cerri presents the project for a new semi-displacement super yacht the 100 Comfort. As the title says the 100 Comfort, will be a triple deck which raises the standard of on-board comfort for the owner and his guests. The 100 Comfort is designed by the Cerri design team and Matteo Del Sorbo who took care of naval engineering details. The 100 Comfort is a super yacht full of innovative features inside, as the large bat serving the aft deck, the motor cycle garage to port side, the beach opening to starboard with water-slide, and last but not least a huge tender garage with space for a rib up to six meters long. Accommodation wise the 100 Comfort will feature five double guest cabins with an owners main cabin on the main deck. Improve-it = Princess 43

Princess has recently started to offer a new important larger engine option package for its entry level 43 Flybridge model. Presented as a replacement to the decade long success of the 42 in 2013, the Princess 43 is a flybridge motor cruiser with a two cabins lower deck, and an overall length of 47 feet. Previous to this new Cummins 550hp option the 43 was only offered with twin Volvo 435hp engines. The new Cummins options will increase top speed up to 32 knots, and will give for sure a more comfortable cruse range in the 20 to 26 knots bracket.

Project: Sasga 34 Minorchino

Sasga presents an important new project for an entry level model, the 34 Minorchino. As the other boats in the line the new small Minorchino follows design stints of the classic Menorcan fishing boat transformed into a nice cruiser. As all Sasga models, modern details are featured in the 34 from an integrated bathing platform, larger port holes serving the cabins, and an extended hard top which covers the aft deck.  The 34 Minorchino will feature a layout with two double cabins below, with a living galley dinette and helm to starboard all located on the main deck. New Model: Numarine 70 Flybridge

Born as a project of a 68 Fly back in 2009, the Numarine 70 Flybridge took five years to become a reality and make its appearance on the market.  Currently its entry level model, the 70 Flybridge is a very important model for the Turkish builder who went in 2014 with an upgrade to its line, and a host of new projects presented. Project: Raffaelli 42 Typhoon Sportage

For this new project Raffaelli return to one of the names, Typhoon what was an important marker in its rich model history.  The 42 Typhoon Sportage is the next model to come from the South Adriatic Pesaro based boat builder and this is to be a three cabin motor cruiser with a hidden sport bridge on top, offering lounging and sunbathing accommodation. Interesting 42 Typhoon Sportage against Raffaelli models history will be a super structure heavy sport cruiser, reminiscent of builders ccoming from North America in the eighties and nineties.  The heavy super structure though does have its premium though and will offer a super spacious main split level main deck with a layout offering an astern galley, C-shape dinette, C-shape lounge, and a single seat helm-station to port side.  Power will be twin 350hp engines.

Project: Grand Banks 60

Lets start by saying that the rendering of this latest Grand Banks 60 project makes it looks different, thanks to a sporty design and a nimble feel. The length surely play a predominant feature in this but the long fore deck, and what seems a lower profile are also other important features which characterize this new Grand Banks, which so far is not assigned to any of the three Aleutian, East Bay, or Heritage lines. The Grand Banks 60 will have an interior layout with three guest cabins below, and an astern galley in a single level main deck. The owners room is located in a midships port side location with the bed looking at ship-side. An utility room which boast full beam space is also to be found at midships in between the cabin area to fore, and engine room aft. Power will come from twin Volvo 725hp engines with line shaft propulsion.

Waiting Expansion

In the British forums I visit, a story repeats itself every season or so about the future of one boat builder, Fairline.  One of the so called important three sisters of the British power boating family, Fairline has been an interesting expanding brand up until 2006, and among the most respected in the global yachting community for offering among a good quality based price ratio in the industry.

Fairline community discussions have been growing up in the last decade since the other two British builders; Princess and Sunseeker started building more eighty plus feet super yachts, while the size at Oundle stopped at 78 feet, with the 78 Squadron Custom model being an improvement of the 74, the flagship since 2003. Fairline has two problems for building bigger; the first is location as they are inland based, and the second is factory size.  Current factory size does allow to build up to 85 feet. This building larger has been reflected in stable or improving sales for the other two, while Fairline in the last years has been a slow decline.

But while building larger may be part of the solution to improve a balance sheet, an important offering in the important fifty to eighty feet sizes does help. One just need to check the offering of the other two; Princess and Sunseeker to see that in those sizes they do offer a lot of models, double to that of Fairline. The other two Brits both know that a high percentage of the client who goes bigger usually come from the fifty feet plus size. Another problem from Fairline is the offer of new models, with half of the new proposals in recent years being in reality an upgraded improved previous model.

Arcadia Expands in USA

Bavaria Takes More Awards

The sailing and motor yachts of Bavaria are still on track to win. In Warsaw, the Sport 360 won in the category motor yachts bigger nine meters the ‘Polish Boat of the Year’ award. In the category sailing yachts the Nautitech Open 40 took the award and won against other catamarans. In Croatia, the Cruiser 46 got the ‘Croatian Boat of the Year’ award her second award this year after winning the ‘European Boat of the Year’ award in January. The Sport 360 had already been awarded with the ‘Best of Boats’ award in Berlin before the turn of last year. 

Bavaria Strengthens Position in China

The German renowned boat builder Bavaria announces a major investment into the Chinese market effective to start in 2015. Bavaria is one of the major players on the boating market for sailing and power boats ranging from 30 to 56 feet and recently added a catamaran range following the purchase of the French Nautitech brand. Established in 1978 and delivering every year around 1200 boats to the market, Bavaria has successfully developed a strong dealership network in 52 countries. The Chinese market is certainly one of the most promising markets for the company which currently possesses a regional office in Shanghai, managed by the Asia-Pacific Sales Director, Mrs. Reanna Wang, and a strong dealership network within the country. With the currently presence in China, the company sees a need to further develop the market which represents a huge potential for this size range of boats and is also very catamaran-friendly. Having all three types of yachts it its portfolio, a strong German know how and engineering background, Bavaria is on the right path to enjoy its part of success in the Chinese market. Benetti Commercial Achievements 2015

Benetti, the world's top builder of over 24m yachts for 15 consecutive years, confirms their ongoing commercial success with sales of 9 super yachts from September 2014 until now, including a full-custom 65m, 7 Displacement Class and one Veloce 140' Fast Displacement Class, the latter confirming the strong appeal of this new line following its introduction in 2012. This commercial success follows the news – see previous Press Release issued during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2014 – regarding the sale of two over 100m mega-yachts. The Benetti production line is working at full speed on 19 yachts, all to be delivered in 2015, including seven Custom projects 50m and larger and twelve Class semi-custom units. With 45 yachts under construction in Livorno and Viareggio, and thanks to the constant attention paid towards clients and the yard's solid financial situation, Benetti is riding a wave of commercial success, confirming the market's interest for all the yard's models and new designs throughout the world. Encouraged by these positive results and previsions for the future, Benetti, with an eye towards satisfying the continuing requests for their yachts, has decided to begin production of a 63m on spec. Bertram Letter of Intent by Gavio Group

Argo Finanziaria, holding of the Gavio Group, announces it has undersigned a Letter of Intent with Ferretti SpA regarding the takeover of Bertram, one of the leading yachting brands in the United States and all over the world. The acquisition is expected to be finalised by 31 March 2015, following appropriate due diligence of Betram’s assets, the definition of the conditions, guarantees, and commitments required for this type of transactions, and after obtaining all the necessary authorisations pursuant to the applicable laws and regulations. Established by Richard Bertram in 1960, Bertram is a true icon of US yachting. It is the legendary brand of the famous Moppies, thousands of which were built between the 1960s and the 1990s. Bertram yachts have always been a synonym of performance, outstanding seaworthiness, reliability, excellence, and style. The acquisition of the Bertram brand follows the takeover by the Gavio Group of two other important yachting brands – Cantieri Cerri, in September 2011, and Baglietto, in February 2012. The latter is the symbol of international yachting and is currently the oldest Italian shipyard still in business. By including Bertram into its yachting brand portfolio, the Group will further extend the range of boats it produces. It will also create a prestigious ‘hub’ in the luxury yachts segment, capable of creating strong synergies by sharing resources, optimizing costs, integrating sales networks, and further promoting its chances to successfully operate on the fast-growing US market. 

Elandra Sales Success

Australian luxury motoryacht builder Elandra Yachts has achieved multiple sales of its Elandra 53 semi-custom sports yacht following its unveiling in September last year. The first two Elandra 53s were sold to New South Wales buyers. Elandra 53 No.2, with a gleaming gold hull colour, is in build at the company's yard in Queensland and is scheduled for completion in May. A white gelcoat-hulled Boat No.3. will be completed in August. Elandra Yachts has also announced the appointment of Chris Hills of Australian Boat Sales to represent the company in Sydney Harbour. The dealership has operated from offices on the Harbour for the past 11 years.

Filippetti Receives Two Successes

Two major awards arrived for Filippetti Navetta30 M/Y Gatsby by Boat International Media. M/Y Gatsby is one of the finalists in two of the most important and prestigious industry awards: the World Superyacht Awards and ShowBoats Design Awards. The impressive group of finalists includes the best super yachts built and delivered to the owner in the last twelve months. The World Superyacht Awards recognize, from more than 10 years, the best superyachts newly built, delivered to their owners during the last year. The jury, arranged by eighteen superyacht owners and two high-level professionals, has visited the boat during the Cannes Boat Show, where it was presented in a world premiere. The Filippetti Navetta 30 M/Y Gatsby was named as a finalist in the category "Displacement Motor Yachts of below 500GT - 30m to 42.99m." The awards ceremony will take place in Amsterdam in May. The Navetta 30 Gatsby has been nominated in the category "Environmental Protection Award". Princess Double Show Success

Princess Yachts has enjoyed a record start to their 50th anniversary year following a successful winter boat show season. Beginning at the CWM FX London Boat Show, Princess unveiled a new stand design and featured a stunning 10 yacht line-up. The Princess 68 made her show debut alongside the new Princess S72 which picked up a 2015 Motor Boat Award during the show. In addition the V48 Open, also on display, fought off tough competition to scoop another Motor Boat Award for the Sportscruiser over 45ft category. In the wake of London's success Princess also enjoyed a record show at boot Dusseldorf. The Princess 98 Motor Yacht was once again the largest yacht at the show and impressed visitors to the stand with her Art Deco inspired interior, Armani Casa fabrics and accessories including lamps by Porta Romana. The 98 was part of a seven yacht display which also included award-winning models such as the Princess 43 and the V39.

Sanlorenzo New Office in Arabian Gulf

Sanlorenzo is delighted to announce the further expansion of its brand representative network in the United Arab Emirates and Middle East, with the appointment of motor yacht specialists ACE Marine L.L.C., trading as Sanlorenzo Middle East. Sanlorenzo Middle East will operate from new offices in Dubai, serving the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. It is a sister company of Alkhalil Trading L.L.C., trading as Sanlorenzo Egypt, based at Abu Tig Marina in the resort of El Gouna, on the Red Sea coast. Both dealerships were established by Managing Director Tarek Khalil who, for the last 6 years, has been successfully representing and distributing luxury motor yachts in Egypt and Lebanon. Sanlorenzo Middle East has ambitious plans to grow awareness of the Sanlorenzo brand in the Arabian Gulf region, building on the success of the company in Egypt. Viking Miami Montage

Some 5,333 visitors came through Viking impressive 14 boat display at the 2015 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show last week. Activity was good with a pair of 62 Convertibles, a 55 Convertible and a 52 Convertible contracted during the five-day run and complemented eight other Vikings sold during the VIP Boat Show Preview at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach late last month.

The 19th Annual Viking VIP Boat Show Preview was a rousing success as more than 700 Viking family members gathered for our exclusive private showing of the 2015 Viking fleet from 42 to 92 feet complemented with a venerable vendor village of marine accessories, electronics, engines, fishing tackle, services and equipment at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach. Framed with blue skies, a fresh Florida breeze and superb ocean running conditions, the popular event this past Friday and Saturday provided our dealers and their clients with nearly a hundred sea trials displaying time after time why Viking leads the world today as the champion builder of luxurious sportfishing convertibles and elegant, leading edge motor yachts. In addition to our award winning fleet Viking also earned the accolades of the Parker Hannifin Corporation, which manufactures Racor Fuel/Water Separators and Sea Recovery water makers as company representatives Steven Theus, Raffaele Invrea and Greg Newman presented Patrick Healey, President and Bill Healey Co-founder of VIking with its prestigious OEM Manufacturer of the Year Award. Zeelander Appoints New President 

Zeelander Yachts B.V. announced today the appointment of Michele Allen to President of Zeelander USA, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day operations as well as executing key strategic growth initiatives. Ms. Allen brings 30 years of diversified experience providing strategic, tactical and financially responsible leadership. Allen has a long track record of building value and maximum revenue growth for both product and service organizations, most recently as General Manager of Bradford Marine Yacht Sales. Prior to that, she served in pivotal roles including Director of Product Development for QVC, Vice President of Operations for Teslar Watches, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hotels.com and Vice President of Marketing for Sky Limo Air Charter. Zeelander Yachts also announced today a company restructure which includes the addition of a yacht sales division in preparation for growth and new products. This new division led by Chris Holtzheuser as President, will provide an improved experience for those buying and selling their vessels. Former Zeelander USA President, John Slate, will move to the sales division to drive new business and ensure a successful launch.

New Launch: Feadship 46.40m Hull. 689

Feadship launched the 46.40-metre, hull number 689, titled M/Y Kiss on Saturday 14 February in a ceremony that made the most of the Valentine’s Day spirit. Having recently unveiled two of the largest superyachts in the global fleet, the 101.50-metre and 83.50-metre Savannah, this launch proves how Feadship can also embrace its roots size-wise within the highest standards of custom super-yacht building. Designed by Dubois, hull. 689 also showcases Feadship's ability to optimise the efficiency of the engineering processes involved in creating a bespoke superyacht. This latest Feadship is based on previous launch Como, with a more conservative twin 1800hp Cats engines giving a max speed  of 16 knots.  Interior design comes from Redman Whiteley Dixon who presented five guest cabins, plus an owners stateroom on the main deck,

Project: Queens Yachts 58 Hard Top

Queens Yachts presents the project for a new 58 Hard Top. It will be interesting to see if the 58 will be a replacement of the current 54 model or it will be an additional model in the Queens line up. Apart the renderings above no further details have been given so far for the 58, but the new project seems to continue the next step in Queens Yacht design philosophy as shown with the 50 model. Important note that the 50 model showed Queens change designer duties from Alessandro Ino, to the TDF Studio of Laverna and Vienna.  As shown in the rendering, the Queens 58 should be a line shaft propulsion yacht but the Italian builder did show that it always offers other options to its buyers.

New Model: Carver C37

Carver label its new C37 as the most spacious and comfortable eleven meters currently available on the market. As expected the Carver C37 follows the design which was introduced with C34 a couple years ago, and which since has had a huge impact on the famous North American marquee. The C37 as the smaller C34 is also an all season boat, featuring a fully enclosed hard top which makes rainy days a cozy experience inside. The C37 follows Carver latest ideas in making best use of length thanks to a very full bow, a long water-line, and a very wide beam for it size, usually found in boats more or less one meter longer. Inside the Carver offers a four plus two accommodation plan, with two cabins below deck, and an extra double berth coming from the convertible saloon on the main deck. A shower head is located in between the cabins, and the galley is on the main deck to starboard. Power choices are a standard Mercruiser 320hp petrol gas, and optional Volvo 300hp units. Propulsion is stern dive.

Project: Wider 125

Wider boss Tilli Antonelli, and renowned designer Fulvio de Simoni present the new 125 project a further evolution of the 122 offered more or less about a year ago. Innovation, and latest technology comes with all the Wider range and the 125 like its bigger 150 and 165 sisters will be a diesel electric powered yacht.  Accommodation will feature six guest cabins, with an interesting owner style apartment located forward of the main deck offering two rooms, a master stateroom and children's room.  Crew cabins will be seven; three of these located forward of the lower deck, and a captains room by the pilot house on the top deck.  With the crew quarters is also included a lobby with a C-shaped settee, and a large separate galley. Performance numbers are very interesting in the Wider 125 and will feature top speeds up to 14 knots, a cruise of 12, and an economic 10 knots which gives a range of 3600 nautical miles.
