Fifty Meter Super Yacht Ends Aground at Bonifacio, Corsica

The fifty meter super yacht Beatrix ended aground at the Port of Bonifacio on the late morning of Saturday 27 June.  The yacht was assisted by the berth assistance of Bonifacio and was eventually put back in deep water.  Theyachtman06 reported the accident from his Instagram page with the cause of the grounding reported to be an error during manoeuvring operation.  No injuries are reported from the accident, with the damage if any to the yacht not being advised.

The yacht in this accident is a custom 2015 build Cantieri Navali di Termoli 50 meters as designed by Tommaso Spadolini for exterior and interiors by Salvagni. 

Explorer Yacht Ends Aground in Barnegat Inlet, New Jersey

A seventeen meter explorer yacht ended aground near Barnegat Light in Barnegat Inlet, New Jersey on the afternoon of Friday 26 June.  TowBoatUS Barnegat Light and Beach Haven who shared the story on its Facebook page assisted the yacht, by removing it from the grounding, and then towing it into deep water.  The yacht was then reported to have proceeded with its own power, which means it sustained little damage.  According to other boaters in the post the area is not well marked and goes from depths of eight meters to those of less to a meters in nothing.

The yacht in this accident is a DeFever 55 Offshore Custom Cruiser as designed by Arthur DeFever and produced in the early noughties.  The 55 Offshore Custom Cruiser was replaced by the DeFever 56 Pilothouse.

Project: ISA Yachts Blade 70-metre

ISA Yachts presents Blade 70 metres, a new project marking the start of a strategic collaboration with Lobanov Design, the studio led by Igor Lobanov, renowned for its sculptural and highly distinctive approach to contemporary yacht design.  ISA Blade 70-metre has been conceived with the ambition of creating the most elegant and stylistically recognisable yacht in the grand sport segment, a category defined by fast, sporty yachts featuring vertical or near-vertical bows. The Blade project stands out for its deep exploration of personality and formal identity, drawing inspiration from the elegant ships designed between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  The bow, slightly reversed and concave in profile, becomes one of the defining elements of this superyacht. It is enriched with decorative stainless-steel details, while the anchor niche is fully integrated and concealed, and the fairleads are custom-designed, all contributing to a clean, refined and highly sophisticated aesthetic. The entire yacht is conceived as a continuous sculpture, with fluid, uninterrupted lines flowing seamlessly from bow to stern. Hull graphics are intentionally hidden and integrated into the volume, while the glazing features glass panels with dotted films and an unexpected black insert positioned forward, close to the waterline, creating a strong and distinctive graphic accent. The superstructure is composed entirely of glass panels and black-painted surfaces, topped by a subtle dynamic curve that evokes speed and motion.  The exterior design is further enhanced by unique elements such as recessed teak inserts, custom fender details and a transforming aft garage / beach club door which, when closed, becomes a wooden bench overlooking the sea, expanding the yacht’s outdoor living experience.  The interior layout reflects an evolved owner’s vision: the master suite is located aft on the upper deck, offering a private terrace and the opportunity to wake up to open sea views in complete privacy.  The ISA Blade 70 metres has a gross tonnage of 1,300 GT, a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. She is powered by two MTU delivering 2374hp, achieving a maximum speed of seventeen knots and a cruising speed of fourteen knots. At cruising speed, the yacht offers a range of approximately five thousand nautical miles.  With ISA Blade 70 metres, Palumbo Superyachts strengthens its position in the large sport superyacht segment and reaffirms its commitment to developing iconic projects.

Four Boaters Saved as Classic Boat Sinks Near Naples, Italy

Four boaters were saved as a nine meter classic cabin cruiser started to take on water offshore to Torre del Greco, to the South of Naples, Italy in the early morning hours of Thursday 25 June.  The boaters were assisted by the Reparto Operativo Aeronavale of Naples, who saved the boaters first, and then were followed by the Guardia Costiera coast guard who tried to float back the boat without success.  No injuries were reported with the cause of the sinking reported to be structural wood planking failure.

Project: Windy SR77

Capsized Sportfish Cruiser Recovered in Florida

An eight meter in size sportfish cruiser with twin outboard motors was recovered as it capsized offshore to Miami, with the story shared on Tuesday 23 June on the Fast Response Marine Towing and Salvage Facebook page.  Fast Response salvaged the boat, by flipping it, and then towing to a boat ramp for recovery.  During the lift out the boat had one motor down, and the other up.  No further news, how the accident happened and and if anyone was injured seem to be available about this.

The boat in this accident is a Fountain 29 Sportfish Cruiser as produced from 1995 to 2005.  The 29 Sportfish Cruiser was a replacement to the 27 Sportfish Cruiser and replaced by the Fountain 33 Sportfish Cruiser.

New Model: Viking 50 Billfish

The Viking 50 Billfish carries forward a series designed for fishing and built with Viking semi-custom quality. From the 37 and 38 to the 46 and now the 50, the Billfish line has kept its identity: a classic dayboat profile with an inset bridge, clean lines and serious cockpit space. Hull No. 1 is now in Hawaii, where she will be used to target world-record blue marlin. At fifteen square meters, the cockpit keeps the focus on fishing, with a teak sole and covering boards, mezzanine seating, fighting chair, rod holders and ample dry and refrigerated storage. The flybridge and center console helm are arranged for long days offshore. Twin displays are flush-mounted and easy to see and access, with instruments and controls inside dual radio boxes siding the teak helm pod; there’s more electronics in the hardtop’s recessed area. The captain has a clear sightline aft to the cockpit. The Viking 50 Billfish offers a cabin layout with two or three cabins version, with an option to have a three berth forward cabin replacing the central double queen berth. Projects: Domina Yachts 50R, Domina Yachts 65R

Having attracted attention and interest with the 42 WA and 44R models, Domina Yachts expands and presents the projects for two larger; 50R and 65R models. Both designed as the other smaller Domina Yachts by Marco Seri, the 50R is an outboard powered sport yacht, able to reach speeds above fifty knots.  Pictured above the 50R will offer a classic aft sun-pad layout cockpit deck, with a lower deck offering accommodation for four with two heads, and a crew cabin forward.  The 50R is the most performance orientated Domina yet and will feature a twin stepped hull and with the standard quadruple Mercury outboard 425hp set up should reach speeds up to sixty knots.  

The 65R is to be a new flagship for Domina Yachts, and is to feature a Mediterrean style cockpit deck with central sun-pad, dinette, L-shaped summer galley to port side, and twin seat helm station to starboard.  The lower deck will offer a three double cabins layout; master cabin forward, two cabins with twin berths at midships, with saloon and galley in between the cabins.  A single berth crew cabin is located forward.  The Domina 65R is to be powered by quintuple Mercury 600hp outboards for speeds up to 57 knots.
