During the just passed Miami Yacht show, Hatteras announced a new sportfish yacht project slated for debut this years fall. The 60GT project is the latest in fifty years convertible design and propulsion development from Hatters, combined with the use of technological advances in materials and methods utilized in fiberglass construction by this legendary Carolina builder. The Hatteras 60GT takes its exterior design cues from the current 60 Convertible, but a newly redesigned cockpit and a touch of panache give the new 60GT a unique style of her own. The interior accommodations found in the 60GT are not only more spacious to the current Convertible, but are designed with a level of sophistication not often found in a Sportfish Yacht. Sleeping accommodation is for three stateroom all with independent shower heads. Larger window framing is also found on the main deck in the saloon allowing for better views, and combine with wall coverings and exotic woods to create a more open layout while continuing to provide a warm and luxurious environment. The 60GT also get its numbers following and surpassing the current 60 Convertible optional “GT Tournament Edition” package. This GT upgrade included larger engines and additional weight savings which created a forty plus knots boat. With its lightweight build combined with an aggressively efficient propulsion design, the new 60GT is designed to perform at an elevated level, providing increased efficiency whether cruising or tournament fishing. Power to the 60GT will be by twin Cat engines from 1600 up to 1800hp with line shaft propulsion in semi tunnels. Perhaps the biggest surprise of it all here is the missing option with ZF Zeus pods having a 60 Convertible named QuadZeus been a prototype tester for this type of propulsion in the last months.
