Out-News = Filipetti Motor Yachts Burns Down in Gulf of Corinth

A 23 meter Filipetti motor yacht titled Just Mine with Jersey flag burned down in flames in the Gulf of Corinth, one nautical mile away from Bouka, Aigio in the morning of Friday November 13.  The Filipetti  motor yacht was in route to her home berth in Italy,  in return from a refit job in Turkey.  The two crew on board Just Mine where rescued and evacuated.  The motor yacht eventually sank and is a total loss.
Just Mine is a Filipetti Flybridge 76 model from 2013.  She is possibly the first of the Flybridge 76 series which was an evolution of the Evo 23 model build in between 2006 up to 2009 and became popular for its clean sleek design but also for being the first motor yacht in this size to have a fore deck dinette. Both the Evo 23 and Flybridge 76 come from a design of Fulvio de Simoni, who present her with a four double cabins interior, and was powered by twin 1500-1650hp engines reaching top speeds up to 30 knots and a cruise of around 25 with the largest engine option.

Its huge aft cockpit can be fitted accordingly to the owner’s wishes, either to convivially seat plenty of guests or equipped for the more avid sport fishermen. The 430 S, benefits from the Trawler family feeling, offering you an all-weather and all purpose Express Sports cruiser which features extra accommodation cruising comfort, thanks to the two lower deck cabins and two bathrooms. Web: Itama New Web Site

Itama from Italy presents its new World wide web showroom. Itama was founded in 1969 by Mario Amati, with the name of the brand coming from the surname of the founder as reflected in the sea, in opposite reading. Itama first location was in Lungotevere Dante, changed in 1977 to a new bigger location on the left side of the Tiber river. This will be the Itama home for over two decades before the change of ownership to Ferretti Group at the end of 2004. Currently Itama are being build in two of the Ferretti Group factories in Forli and Mondolfo. Itama model history is also curious, at first the company started up by building custom wooden flybridge motor cruisers and yachts; the 145, 160, and 180 models, but it will be the year 1979 which brings the big change. Inspired by a famous US sport cruiser, Mario Amati decides to compete and creates one of the gems of Italian motor boating history, the Itama 38 an offshore style sport cruiser with a deep 22 degrees Vee shape hull. Its a turn around for Itama, which in this period makes also the total move to fiberglass production, and also for innovating. Sold in over 168 units in a production run lasting over 22 years the Itama 38 was also the first inboard powered motor boat to feature an underwater exhaust system, presented in 1980. Other Itama models with the same style will follow after this in the eighties from the 52 in 1983 then renamed and updated as 54 in 85, and the 45 launched in 1985. Mario Amati will sell most of his shares of Itama in 2001, with the company being controlled for the majority stake by Bulgari with this selling to Ferretti Group at the end of 2004.  The Ferretti Group era starts a new generation of models designed by Marco Casali and an internalization of the brand; Forty in 2004 and Fifty Five in 2005, are the first new models and are followed by the Seventy Five, Fifty and Sixty.  The most successful of the Ferretti Group era models has been the Forty which will sell in over 110 units in a production run lasting only six years, making it also the second most sold Itama of all time.  Currently Itama builds three models; 45S, 62S, and 75. Itama new web-site takes you around with the following buttons; Home, About Itama, Yachts Collection, Itama Open News, and Contacts. Itama new web site also features links to the Ferretti Group Social media pages; Youtube, and Instagram located at the bottom of the entrance page.

New Model: Invictus TT460

The Invictus TT460 was one of the most awaited novelties for the fall 2020, designed by Christian Grande the new flagship of the Italian builder did not defy expectations and by the end of Genoa boat show 2020 the company had already sold six units, with two already launched.  A walk around centre console full of unique characteristics the TT460 philosophy revolves around a cutting edge modern design.  So much all this is true that the model has already won its first prize for Design Innovation Award 2020.  Like any walk around sport cruiser the Invictus TT460 revolves around its outside area, with a central three seat centre console taking centre stage. Behind the helm one finds a galley, which is followed by a dinette with opposite seats and a central aft sun pad.  To both sides we have opening bulk heads which open to increase space and also offer two outlets to the water.  Inside the TT460 offers accommodation for four in an island double master bed forward, and twin berths at midships.  To starboard we have the shower head.  An alternative layout exists where instead of a double berth forward one trades this for a lounge area with sofa and entertainment area opposite.  The Invictus TT460 is powered by twin Volvo 480hp with IPS pod drives, giving estimated top speeds up to 38 knots.

Project: Alva Eco Cruise 50

Alva Yachts, the German shipyard of electrical floating solutions, takes another step forward and launches its first monohulled electric yacht, named Eco Cruise 50, a fifteen meter motor explorer yacht, specifically designed for electric propulsion, with a peculiar layout made to maximize space, and customized solutions with plenty of possibilities for the interiors. Alva Eco Cruise 50 has been designed by Henndesign to perfectly suit customers who like to cruise and explore while yachting. At 50 feet, it will be the smallest model in the Alva Yachts range, meant to reach new markets and especially a wider range of boaters.   The first key point of Eco Cruise 50 is of course the electric propulsion. Alva Yachts has already developed electric catamarans; Ocean Eco 60 and 90 are in construction, an electric-assisted sailing vessel Ocean Sail 82, and floating villas. The Eco Cruise 50 is a step further, as the electric powertrain is now taken onto a mono-hull yacht.  Once again and as for the other projects, Eco Cruise 50 is shaped around a solar and electric approach towards yachting: different to other yachts the technology is not an add-on but a central design feature. The most obvious characteristic that underlines this fact is the impressive roof line that creates a larger roof surface for solar panels. More solar panels are also housed in the overhang of the upper deck.  Eco Cruise 50f+ features 2 electric motors delivering 100 kw each, for a total output of 272hp. The power to supply the engines comes from a 50 kw generator and from solar glass tiles on the roof, and it is stored into a 140 or 240 kWh battery pack. The cleanest solution replaces the generator with a hydrogen fuel cell, and the normal fuel tank with hydrogen storage tanks. In this case the Eco Cruise 50 is 100% clean, as it can cruise without releasing any polluting emission and in total silence.  Alva Yachts has also considered seafarers who want more performance even from an electric yacht, and offers a Power Version of the Eco Cruise 50, named 50 HP, with two 230kW electric motors for a total of 625hp. In this case the maximum speed can reach 20 knots.  Alva Yachts and Henndesign have also given the Eco Cruise 50 a peculiar layout, made to maximize space and comfort.  A large beach club area, much more than a swim platform measuring 22 sqm, houses a sun pad but also holds the yacht's tender and a jet ski. From here, four steps down lead to the lower deck, while a starboard staircase take to the upper one.  The outside areas do not end in the ample beach club but continue upstairs with a raised and protected cockpit featuring a couch and two tables, and with two wide passageways that lead to the foredeck large sun pad.  The inner layout of Eco Cruise 50f+ can be chosen between different versions, with three or four cabins, for private use or for charter.  One solution features a wide and cozy galley, with dining table for 6 to 8 guests, on the lower deck. An aisle takes to the night accommodation, with two cabins and two bathrooms, while the bow houses the crew cabin with two bunks and a head. The crew quarters are accessible via a separate staircase from the helm station on the upper bridge; the helm station also has two side doors on the lateral decks. A fourth, large cabin is located on the upper deck just behind the pilothouse, and features a double bed, a large bathroom, and an office table / vanity corner. The raised position and the glazing on three sides offer a beautiful view on the horizon.  Another layout consists of just three cabins, all located on the lower deck, with three bathrooms, one is a day toilet as well. The master cabin is amidships, to port, and sports a bathroom with separate shower and WC, while the beautiful countertop with two sinks is in an open corner behind the bed, faced by a large closet and a sofa. Outside, to starboard, the large passageway hosts the main galley and a round table. In this case, the closed upper deck is a single, airy space: a lounge with wet bar, sofas and coffee table, and the helm station to fore with doors on the side passageways. Two staircases give access to the lower deck, one from the helm station and one from the beach area.  In any case, the interiors have been developed following a minimalist design and focusing on natural materials and lighting.

New Model: Viking 54 Convertible

Following Viking's mantra to build a better boat every day, the New Jersey company has consistently brought exciting yachts for 56 years, with multiple generations in various size ranges, and level of expertise shine through with every new model. That proficiency is particularly strong in the 50-to-60-foot sportfish boat genre, where Viking has introduced 10 models in the past two decades. This legacy fleet consists of more than 600 Vikings and includes ground-breaking models such as the 60 and 55, two renditions of the 52 Convertible and the first-generation 54. Now, the New Jersey boatbuilder reaffirms its domination of the mid-size convertible with the new Viking 54. The three-stateroom, two-head open bridge yacht pushes the owner/operator convertible to the highest levels of engineering, performance, accommodations and sportfishing capabilities. The 54 presents an eye-pleasing profile that’s unmistakably Viking, with signature design traits such as a gently sloping unbroken S-shaped sheer, aggressively raked stem, double chines, hull-side vents and deftly placed exterior feature lines. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics software, the Viking Design and Engineering Department has optimized the 54’s running surface for maximum performance. The hull is built with an engineered composite of fiberglass fabrics and coring that’s vacuum-infused with vinylester resin.  The 54’s business end offers more space than any other boat in its class. The unobstructed cockpit comes to the fishing wars with the ammunition to put you in the winner’s circle, starting with moulded non-skid on the cockpit sole for grippy footing and large scuppers to drain water quickly.  A walk-through transom door with a lift gate takes the work out of boating a trophy catch, and when you’re release-fishing, a three-foot reach to the waterline means you can quickly turn a billfish loose. Anglers will appreciate Viking’s signature rounded cockpit coamings and toe-kick for those lengthy stand-up battles. Flush rod holders, recessed stainless-steel hawse pipes and cleats keep the cockpit clear. Multiple insulated fish-boxes of various capacities increase flexibility. The raised transom box can be used as a live well, fish-box or general storage. A full-length in-deck fishbox spans the starboard side, while the port side holds two storage compartments with the forward serving as an optional live well. A mounting plate laminated into the sole will anchor the mightiest of fighting chairs, and you can also opt for a rocket launcher or table. A single centerline lazarette hatch opens nearly 90 degrees for full viewability and access to the available Seakeeper as well as the steering, trim tabs and drain pumps.  Guests will be enamored with the raised observation mezzanine as pioneered by Viking, as they watch the action in comfort, shaded by the flybridge overhang. Smart storage solutions abound, with freezer and cooler space under the mezzanine for baits and drinks and a tackle cabinet on the starboard side. The inboard portion of the mezzanine provides access to the engine-room. An anodized aluminium ladder with nonslip treads and a handrail at the top provides secure egress to the flybridge.  A streamlined walk-around center console provides 360-degree sightlines. Touchscreen electronics displays and a row of Bocatech switches with power status LED rings are flush mounted in the helm dash. Their installation and positioning heighten viewability and ease of access. A stainless steel steering wheel and single-lever electronic controls are mounted on a raised teak helm pod. Optimus Electronic Power Steering delivers precise manoeuvrability and finger-tip control. The console itself is designed with toe-kick all around for better balance and increased walking area. The helm and companion chair supply ample comfort for those long rides to the canyons, and guests can take it easy in the port or starboard lounges or forward console seat.  The 54 can be outfitted with a custom designed and fabricated Palm Beach Towers tuna tower and equipped with navigation, communication and entertainment systems from Atlantic Marine Electronics. These two Viking subsidiaries play critical roles in making Viking yachts turnkey ready. Making full use of the five meter plus beam, the 54’s layout accentuates the impressive size of her interior. The key to the configuration is the uninterrupted companionway that stretches from the starboard-side salon door all the way to the forepeak. The lounge area and galley are to port, while the dinette is to starboard. High-gloss teak or walnut is offered for the 54’s interior, and a satin finish is optional. Premium wall-to-wall carpeting and furnishings can be found throughout the climate-controlled living area. Air conditioning flows quietly from valances for comfortable cooling and thorough distribution. A hi-lo mappa burl cocktail table joins the L-shaped lounge with storage below. A TV is nested on the forward starboard bulkhead above the dinette, which is appointed with a high-gloss mappa burl table and wraparound seating for four. The galley’s peninsula countertop features engineered stone with an overhang and two convenient bar stools. The galley is feature-packed with a pair of under-counter Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer units and storage under the peninsula counter. The opposite counter is home to a stainless steel sink with garbage disposal and an electric cooktop. The three-stateroom two-head layout includes a master suite to port with a walk-around queen berth sided by night stands and a credenza to port. There’s a large maple-lined storage area beneath the mattress, accessed via a gas piston-assisted lift-up top, and two drawers are integrated into the foot of the bed. A TV is mounted above a second credenza. A generously proportioned maple-lined hanging locker accommodates a sizeable wardrobe.  The forward stateroom comes standard with a queen berth, but also is available with a crossover berth arrangement. The starboard stateroom has upper and lower berths along with a hanging locker and storage under the lower berth. Each stateroom is fully carpeted, with dedicated temperature and stereo controls, speakers and overhead LED lighting.  The heads feature custom Amtico flooring, a lower vanity, a medicine cabinet with mirrored doors, exhaust fans, air conditioning and electric heads with holding tank and overboard discharge capabilities. Both also boast very large walk-in one-piece fiberglass showers with an expansive glass enclosure and door. Below the detachable shower head, you’ll find a convenient storage cabinet as well as an integrated fiberglass seat. The optional Man 1550hp  power hull No. 1. With this propulsion package, the Viking 54 Convertible will have an estimated cruise speed in the mid-30-knot range with a top end of 40-plus knots depending upon load, sea state and boat condition. A pair of Man 1400hp diesels are standard. All mechanicals and equipment are installed with great attention to detail in an immaculate engine-room painted with Snow White Awlgrip for visibility and ease of maintenance.

Project: Bluegame BG72

Bluegame present the project for a new BG72 flagship.  Designed by Giovanni Zuccon, Luca Santella, and naval architecture by Lou Codega, Bluegame declares the BG72 as the first open sport yacht in the market that rivals flybridge yachts, having interior areas equally comfortable.  Possibly this declaration is true but at 22 meters in length most flybridge motor yacht do offer a four cabins four head layouts, which the BG72 does have not.  Saying all this the Bluegame BG72 offers incredible outside space, thanks to its fore to aft walkaround deck and a unique mix of protected exterior open areas.  Zuccon and Santella for the BG72 have been also clever to bring the design influence of the aft deck with connected saloon on the lower deck of the BGX series, presented in 2019 with the 70 and repeated in the 2020 60 model novelty.  The Bluegame BG72 is standard powered by Volvo 900hp and or optional 1000hp engines with IPS pod drives.  Top speeds are estimated at thirty knots max.

Web: Italcraft New Web Site

Italcraft from Italy presents its new World wide web showroom.  Founded in 1955 by brothers Sergio and Mario Sonnino Sorisio, in a shed just at the outskirts of Rome, Italcraft will become over the years one of the most innovative boat builders featuring some World first to what regards hull design, propulsion, and materials used for the construction of boats.  In 1958 Italcraft moves production on Lake Bracciano and in 1961 the company opens a showroom in the capital city.  Italcraft will need more space again and in 1969 moves south to the Italian capital city, in Gaeta province of Latina, a place Italcraft as at today still calls home. Innovation has always been key to Italcraft since its inception with a lot of World first being key to its startling success, starting from the end fifties with the wood build Sea Skiff model featuring the first round bilge planning hull. In the seventies Italcraft presents the Renato Sonny Levi designed Drago, the first boat designed with a variable Vee shaped hull, equipped with surface drives and at the time also the fastest diesel boat in production.   The Drago also represented a World first in building materials being constructed with Kevlar 49 and Carbon fibre.  The Aermar 36 model continues the thirst of innovation also featuring a World first being the first boat equipped with propeller tunnels.  In the eighties Italcraft builds Seppietta a Military Patrol cruiser capable of carrying ten people which is unsinkable, self righting, and defined all weather, and in 1985 also launches the M-78 which was at the time the fastest and largest yacht of its size reaching max speeds up to 56 knots.  In the mid nineties Italcraft closes its doors only to be purchased in 1996 by the neighbouring Cantieri Navali dell Golfo. Immediately the production of F38, C45, and C58 is resumed with the new 38 Sarima launching in 1998.  A model which is at today still in production. In 2006 Italcraft is taken over by the Inrizzardi Group, which bring a new development spell in craft over seventy feet with the introduction of the 105 and 90 feet models. The recession of 2008 makes Italcraft close its doors in 2013 only for the company to open again with the new management in 2015.  Italcraft top selling model has been the 1965 launched 25 feet Sarima sold in seven hundred units built of wood and featuring a deep Vee hull with a twenty degrees deadrise aft and two spray rails, followed by the 16 meter Blue Marlin sold in 105 units. Currently Italcraft is producing three models; 38 Sarima, 54 Ipanema, and 105 Maxi Drago which is at today still its largest ever build and so far delivered in five units.  Italcraft new website is currently available only in Italian language and takes you around with the following buttons; Home, Azienda (Company), Yachts, Refitting, and Contatti (Contacts).

blogger - Phase Two Winners and Losers

Covid-19 Phase Two is literally going out of hand, and we had quite a few boats shows getting cancelled last minute. The most important of these cancellations was the Cannes Festival, followed by the Southampton boat show.
The Cannes boat show was annoying to the exhibitors as it was officially cancelled about one week before its opening, and Southampton got cancelled a couple days before.  The exhibitors had already everything ready to get going and considering that business was not that bad since reopening in late Spring and Summer everyone was excited going forward.
Definitely this was a big lose for the exhibitors who pump money in the show not only for the stands but also for the booked space which for what I was told will not get refunded.
The Winners in all this was surely the Genoa boat show which took place in early October for six days, and was considered a successful exhibition.  The Genoa boat show managed to do the maximum attendants allowed due to Covid-19 restrictions, a number just less to eighty thousand, and apart all this reported sales contract signed during the show was the best of the last ten years.  I think the Genoa boat show had also a record of exhibitors in the last five years, and for the first time since quite a few years some boat builders which attending via the area dealer attendant officially.
Just started and ending 1 November we also have the Fort Lauderdale boat show going on as planned.  It will be interesting to see how this will pan out, even though rumours are that the show will have some important exhibitors missing.
