Web: Moonen New Web Site

Moonen Yachts from the Netherlands presents its new virtual World wide web showroom. Moonen was founded in 1963 at the Dutch town of Den Bosch first under the name of De Ruiter shipyard. In 1981 following new ownership entrance by Alhena, it is renamed to Moonen. In 1985 Moonen builds is first super yacht above 24 meters with the launch of 26 meter Cassiopeia S, and in 1992 the company follows more into this by launching a semi-custom design platform of 24 meter in size. The steel and aluminium semi-custom line is a success for Moonen, creating over the years quite a few recognizable designs in the 24 to 30 meter size. Still the semi-custom platform does not stop Moonen from building fully custom larger boats and the launch of 37m White Heaven III in 1998 is a testament to this what will be its larger super yacht for quite some time, superseded by the 38 meter Snowhite in 2009, and then by 41 meters Sofia in 2014 its largest build to date. Moonen has also in 2009 opened its second facility in Groot-Ammers some fifty kilometres away from the original home factory. The new facility has increased Moonen building size capability up to 50 meters from 35, thanks to a new larger hall. Moonen currently offers two lines; Semi-Custom, and Full-Custom. The Semi-Custom range offers six models and starts with the 30M Matica, and expands up to the 50M Monito. Currently Moonen has two super yachts in nearly completed state; a 36m Martinque and the new 110. Moonen new website takes you around with the following buttons; Available Yachts, Portfolio, Fleet, Pre-Owned, About, Media, Contact, and Careers. Moonen is also present in social media with bottom buttons taking you to its; Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter pages.

Project: Moonen 110

The latest design from Dutch superyacht builder Moonen Yachts has been revealed. Having carefully listened to the market, coupled with the trends and desires of both current and prospective owners, Moonen have developed and designed the 110 in collaboration with exterior designer RenĂ© van der Velden, and naval architects Diana Yacht Design. Moonen 110 takes into consideration the success of the 84 and 97 builds, both of which continued to be sold successfully between 2000 and 2011. At the time of initial development, the design of these classic superyachts was spot on and to this day continues to be admired and loved by many. With successful incorporation of exceptional performance at sea, comfort, style and the appeal of a true superyacht, Moonen 84 and 97 proved themselves to be the perfect starting point for the creation of the superyacht builder’s newest endeavour. Moonen have set out to build on this success by delivering a yacht that meets the needs and requirements of those who both love and enjoy the superyacht lifestyle, whilst maintaining the style and quality of yacht that the Moonen Yachts brand has become well known for. A Gentleman’s Yacht, Moonen 110 will be unrivalled in performance and comfort. Spread over three decks; lower deck, main deck and a combined bridge and sun deck, she has a contemporary design whilst reflecting the elegant and timeless lines of her predecessors. Notable features will include; a full beam master stateroom, floor to ceiling windows in the dining area, ample outdoor living, and an optional jacuzzi. Next to the luxurious master stateroom and two twin guest cabins, a spacious VIP stateroom has been designed to pamper your guests. All staterooms and cabins feature en-suite bathrooms. As demand calls for superyachts of a certain size, Moonen 110 will measure approximately 33 metres and will have a shallow draft, making her ideal for destinations including the Bahamas, Caribbean and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The Moonen 110 is to be powered by twin Cat 1000hp which will give a top speed of thirteen knots and a cruise of 10.

New Model: Moonen 36m Martinque

Dutch yard Moonen launches the second model of the Caribbean series line with the 36-metre Martinque titled M/Y Brigadoon.   Moonen 36m Martinque follows the first Caribbean model the 29m Matica launched in 2016 and heralds an exciting new course as it takes a fresh approach to the signature Dutch builder aesthetic while leveraging on the yard’s history in terms of comfort and performance. Martinque was designed by RenĂ© van der Velden for the exterior, with interior by Italian firm Nauta and naval architecture by Dutch Diana. As is the custom at Moonen, the owners have made her very much their own as they get ready to explore the world on a super yacht that can go anywhere thanks to its sophisticated and well-developed hull design.  Powered by twin Cats 1925hp Moonen 36m Martinique has a top speed of sixteen knots, she reached an extra knot to this in her first sea trials and at ten knots delivers a long range of 3900 nautical miles. Moonen 36m Martinique also features a remarkable amount of luxury space for her length thanks to a wide-body superstructure with the same beam as the hull. A good example of the benefits this offers is found in the large owners’ suite where having the windows directly on the outer range of the boat looking forward provides superb panoramic views.

New Model: Moonen 29.90 meter Caribbean Matica

The Moonen 29.90 meter Caribbean Matica is a raised pilot house twin-screw, two-and-a-half deck displacement super yacht. The owners stateroom is situated at main deck, together with the saloon, dining, bar, and galley. Three spacious guest cabins and the crew area for five crew in three cabins are situated at lower deck. To aft is a tender bay with a launching sledge. The round bilge of this fast displacement hull makes the 29.90 meter Caribbean Matica seaworthy and gives her a very economical fuel consumption and long range at lower speeds. Together with the low noise and vibration levels this well-equipped yacht gives great comfort and luxury. Moonen will build and fit out the yacht in accordance with their usual high quality standards and deliver it to the principal, after extensive sea trials, in a ready-to-operate condition. Matica is named after an island in the Caribbean, reflecting the fact that this beautiful yacht is likely to spend much of her time in warm and exotic climates. At just below the 200 Gross Tonnage mark with the maximum volume possible, Matica offers you a wide range of benefits.  Her hull is based on the well-proven Moonen 97 design, ensuring very comfortable sea-keeping behavior and low fuel consumption. Her steeper bow gives a narrower waterline entrance and a longer waterline, further increasing comfort at sea and fuel economy. The limited draft and well protected propellers make Matica ideal for shallow waters.

New Model: Moonen 42M

Moonen has launched the 42 metre custom motoryacht named Sofia for a repeat client. As well as being the largest superyacht launched to date by the Moonen yard, Sofia will also make waves with her unique three-seater submarine. After sea trials and final delivery in November, the displacement yacht will head across the Atlantic for an extended cruise in the Caribbean. The owner of this brand-new Moonen travelled to the yard in person for the launch and expressed his delight at how the specific requirements for this fully custom motoryacht had been brought to fruition. This is the third major motoryacht that he has built at Moonen and during a short acceptance speech the owner confessed he was already considering possibly ordering an even larger project sometime in the future. With plans afoot to increase the building capacity at Moonen, Sofia may not hold the size record for very long.  Any leading shipyard that offers owners a genuinely tailor-made superyacht must always be open to new ideas, and Sofia serves as a testimony to the flexibility available at Moonen. Not long after construction began the owner decided to extend the yacht by a further four feet in order that she could carry a submarine capable of seating three passengers instead of the originally specified two. This involved the creation of a unique launching system which, like the rest of the superyacht, has fully met all the requirements for Lloyd's and MCA classification. No other luxury motoryacht in this size range has a submarine that can take three people to depths of one hundred metres.  Another key aspect of a high-end project such as Sofia is the way in which the yard cooperates with the other leading players involved in the superyacht build. Stolk Marimecs was responsible for the naval architecture of an elegant design by Rene van der Velden and the Moonen design team which synthesises rugged adventurous looks with modern superyacht style elements. The interior has an exceptionally bright and open feeling, with large windows bathing the living spaces with light. Art-Line Interiors has created a very special overall style featuring oak wood, Zabrano and Concetto marble. Sofia's atrium, executed with a custom piece of Concetto art made and supplied by Ceaser Stone in Israel, is truly spectacular. There are many high-tech highlights on this sophisticated motoryacht including an integrated foil bridge, a full Kaleidoscope video server with multi-room control via i-Pad, a galley equipped with professional stainless steel equipment, a thermal camera in the top mast, and an MOB system with personal tracking.

Projects: Moonen 24 metres Nick Mezas Design, Moonen 100 RPH

Moonen has released details of two new designs created for owners looking for a contemporary approach within the template of this Dutch builder. Rene van der Velden has drawn the modern lines of the 100 RPH, while Nick Mezas is responsible for a new fast displacement concept that is being offered in three lengths between 18 and 24 metres, so far shown in only in the larger size version. The 24 metres Nick Mezas Design above sees Moonen looking at smaller dimensions, and also sporting a more modern new generation trendy look outside.  The boats will also feature important differences even in the larger 24 metres model of this line of having only one anchor, to be built to CE regulation instead of class rules, and for being propelled with IPS pod drives.  Moonen does not give much details on this very interesting 24 meters Nick Mezas, but other important news are a round bilged hulls and 22 knots max which marks them in the fast displacement line from this builder.
The Moonen 100 RPH is designed by Rene van der Velden who presented modern lines with an owners stateroom on the main deck which features extra space in the beam thanks to the narrow walkways forward. These walkaways are intended for use by crew members only. Elsewhere the yacht has the most economic layout possible for a boat of the size. Moonen and architect der Velden have placed great emphasis in giving max space to the flybridge and to do this they have allowed for tenders placed in a garage located to aft.

Project: Moonen 100 Explorer

Moonen presents the project for the 100 Explorer.  This new super yacht is designed by Vripack who presents a two decks with looks reminiscent of a trawler explorer, but without forgetting a sleek profile.  Construction will be for a steel hull in grade A, and an aluminium super structure, finished off with an AWL Grip exterior paint.  The general arrangement of the 100 Explorer will present three double guest cabins, with a full beam owners stateroom located to midships.  Crew accommodation will be located to fore offering a lobby with an L-shaped settee, along with two guest cabin one double for the captain, and a singles for two other persons.  The crew area also features direct access to the pilot station. The main deck level is split in two areas, the lower entry area offering relaxing and dining, and the raised part having galley, and the interior helm station.  The flying bridge is also a split level area offering a forward part dedicated for a relaxing area during navigation and features a sun pad along the helm station, while to aft is the tender stowage, a central jacuzzi pool, and a free area with wet bar.  Power for the Moonen 100 Explorer will be from twin Cats 609hp engines which give a top speed of 13 knots, 12 of cruise, and 10 of economic which gives a 5000 nautical miles range before needing to refuel over 30000 liters of fuel.

Project: Moonen 42m

Moonen has announced that its largest project to date, which was originally slated to be 133 feet in length, has been extended by a further four feet. The fully customised 42 metre Moonen will now carry a submarine that is capable of seating three passengers instead of the originally specified two.  With its increased length, this custom-built Moonen will make history by being the first luxury motor yacht in this size range to carry a fully fledged submarine for three people. With the option to reach a depth of 100 metres, the submarine will be secured on the swim platform and will be launched and recovered by an integrated crane, which also serves as a docking bay for the tenders. Once the vessel is in the water the enormous platform opens up to offer a world of water sports entertainment.  Construction on both the hull and the superstructure is proceeding apace, with a launch date slated for the autumn of 2012. The owner has chosen for an entertainment lighting system as part of a luxury home automation set-up. Moonen is also currently investigating various integrated solutions for climate control, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration installations.  The owner has also requested that the yacht be fitted exclusively with LED lights as part of a bright and open interior. Designed by Art-Line Interiors, the overall interior style will feature oak wood and Zabrano. Combining rugged adventurous looks with modern super yacht style and classic elements, the Moonen 42m is an elegant explorer with a low profile, sea worthy hull and a long range capability.

Project: Moonen 82 Alu

Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands announce the order for a new 25 metre fast hull, aluminium built super yacht, the 82 Alu. This new Moonen will be capable of reaching 25 knots and have an exceptional range for a fast yacht, being able to cruise much further than vessels of an equivalent size and speed. The fleet of high speed Moonen's has been growing in recent years, with several custom built all aluminium yachts. It was the vision of Moonen to create an aluminium range of yachts called the Alu-series which started with the 94 Alu. As any new Moonen the 82 Alu follows interest and order from a customer. The Moonen 82 Alu will combine a high degree of displacement comfort with an option to go at 25 knots. As the owners are also looking for low fuel consumption, the hull needs to be very efficient at low speeds. The design for the hull is the subject of extensive research work, including line models. A stringent testing programme is also underway as the yard gears up to start building this exciting new project. Launching is scheduled for 2012.

Project: Moonen 133

The Dutch Moonen Shipyards has recently signed the contract for its largest super yacht to date, the 133. Engineering has already started on this impressive order by a repeat client who has already owned a Moonen 84 and a 97. When launched in 2012 this will be the smallest luxury yacht ever to carry a submarine for two persons and one hundred metres depth capability. The Moonen 133 can be described as a cross-over, blending rugged adventurous looks with modern super yacht stylishness and classic elements. This elegant explorer Super Yacht has a low profile, excellent sea handling performance and a very long range. The Moonen design team was responsible for the overall design concept, with René van der Velden adding his delicate touch to the styling. The owner has also combined his wish for a larger yacht with a desire to stay within a length that allows access to small places. In doing so, the Moonen 133 remains a family boat that does not need an excessive number of crew, normal number of six, with the option for an one extra member. Thanks to the surprising amount of volume for a forty metre super yacht, there is room for six spacious guest cabins. The Moonen 133 has a high bow and full-beam master suite forward. A large area is set aside on the wheelhouse deck to stow a giant tender, launched by a powerful centre line crane that will allow the crew to deploy the boat over either side. There will also be a submarine stored on deck, which will be launched by a hydraulic ramp. Once the submarine is in the water an immense swim platform opens up to offer maximum water sports entertainment. This concept is supported by the large lazarette, which is ideal for carrying fishing, diving gear and motorbikes. The interior will have an open feeling, with large windows bathing the living spaces with lots of light. Artline will provide the interior styling, the third time this leading Dutch studio has worked with the owner. The Moonen 133 is planned to make its public debut at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show.

Improve-it = Moonen 97

Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands has launched the third yacht in its impressive line of thirty metre steel hulled displacement cruisers. Named Livia, this new Moonen 97 is distinguished by a truly original New England American Beach House interior from Art-Line. Livia was styled by René van der Velden, who has created a sleek low-profile exterior with an elegant flared bow, a sloping stern with twin stairways, a graceful sheer line and bold fashion plates. The round bilged hull from the boards of Diana Yacht Design ensures exceptional comfort at sea, while the economical shaping combines tanks for some 28,000 litres of fuel to give Livia an impressive transatlantic range. Owners and guests enjoy the most peaceful of cruises thanks to a comprehensive sound and vibration attenuation programme. In addition to deploying the finest noise absorbing insulation, Moonen has eliminated vibration at source by giving the yacht's highly skewed propeller fifty percent more clearance between the blade tip and hull surface. Livia is also exceptionally comfortable at anchor thanks to the installation of advanced Naiad zero-speed stabilizers. Moonen is known for its impeccable engineering and construction, and this Lloyd's Registered and MCA approved yacht once again proves why. One of the highlights of Livia's aluminium superstructure is the efficient flying bridge, part of a clear policy to maximize the pleasures of Al fresco living on board this yacht. The interior offers spacious accommodations for the owners and six guests. The master stateroom boasts a walk-in closet of unusually generous proportions. There is also a delightful VIP stateroom plus two guest suites, all with their own bathrooms. The Moonen 97 is an evolutionary design based on two prior Moonen yachts: The semi-series 84 and the custom-built 96 Clementine. The first two Moonen 97s were Darsea and Sofia II, while a fourth model is set for delivery beginning 2011.

New Model: Moonen 99 Alu

The new Moonen 99 Alu is a further development of the first Fast Yacht Series, from the four cabin 94 Alu. Two yachts Nilo and Infinity, both launched in 2007 introduced the Moonen 94 Alu. Like all Alu yachts, the 99 is built of Sealium, a lightweight, strong, highly corrosion resistant aluminium alloy. She has a tank-tested hull and is driven by Servogear Controllable Pitch Propellers set in high efficiency tunnels. Powered by twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels, she has a composite built antenna mast and bimini top, to save weight aloft and assure her top speed of 26 knots. Named Phoebe hull number one of the new 99 Alu is classed by Bureau Veritas and has MCA certification. The 99 Alu as other recent Moonen models, was styled by René van der Velden Yacht Design over a hullform of Stolk Marimecs naval architecture. Rhoades Young, in cooperation with Moonen, suggested a variation of the interior layout and created dedicated styling for the client. The 99 Alu has the same superstructure footprint as the 94 with essentially the same accommodations and engine room areas. The added length was applied to enlarging crew quarters and lengthening the main after deck and flying bridge. On the main deck, the saloon is typical of many Moonen yachts, but has a larger adjoining enclosed galley with its own door to the side deck. The wheelhouse centres on a console with engine controls; a plush settee is set aft for guest observation. Stairs lead to the flying bridge and sundeck. Below, the full beam master suite has an open plan. Forward, the watertight bulkhead has been moved slightly aft to enlarge the VIP suite. The joinery design by Rhoades Young makes use of a rich walnut with contrasting white painted surfaces and fabric panel insets.

New Model: Moonen 124

Moonen launched the longest, highest-displacement yacht it ever built, with the new 38 metre 124. Bringing it out of her construction hall and launched into the Lek River, the 124 had been under construction in Moonen’s Groot-Ammers hall since May 2008, when her steel hull and aluminium superstructure were delivered by barge, then welded together. The move of this flagship build by the dutch builder which displaced about 275 metric tons in light-ship condition, was accomplished by a highly efficient Saan transporter with more than 150 independently controlled wheels. The transporter slowly positioned her at the river’s edge where two high-capacity GPS floating cranes lifted her from the construction cradle and launched her. The Moonen 124 was shaped by RenĂ© van der Velden Yacht Design over a hullform by Stolk Marimecs naval architects. She is the first Moonen yacht with a four-deck central atrium and spiral staircase. Her layout features a main-deck master suite forward with veranda. Below, two double and two twin guest staterooms centre on the stairs, with crew quarters forward. The Moonen 124 has an innovative interior by Art-Line featuring "fusion" styling of western cherry joinery "spiced" by Oriental details. The wheelhouse is a fine example of ergonomic planning.

New Model: Moonen 97

Moonen Shipyards a leading builder of pocket-size superyachts up to 124 feet, has launched the first in its new 97 series, the latest of the shipyard’s acclaimed Displacement models. RenĂ© van der Velden Yacht Design sculpted the Moonen 97 with a close family resemblance to the popular 84, with a harmonious profile, nicely flared bow, sloped stern with twin stairways, graceful sheer, and bold fashion plates. She is set over a seakindly round-bilge hull by Diana Yacht Design and has an inventive contemporary styling by Art-Line Interiors. The first yacht, Darsea, has already made her maiden passage to the Mediterranean; the second is set for launch later on; the third is in building process. The Moonen 97 is a prime example of how this dutch builder teams up with the initial client to produce a model with unique features that are universal enough to attract future clients. Combining and rearranging the outstanding features of the previous designs, Moonen created the 97 for a growing number of clients seeking a medium-size, long-range cruiser midway between the 72 and the 124, flagship of the range. The Moonen 97 with steel hull and aluminium superstructure, is an extended version of the custom build 96 Clementine, with the raised pilothouse replaced by a long flying bridge and sundeck with whirlpool bath. This results in a somewhat lower profile in keeping with the "typical Moonen" look of the Displacement Series. Below, the greater volume enabled Moonen to augment the four-cabin layout by enlarging owner and guest suites, expanding crew quarters, increasing stowage, and fitting in fuel tankage for about 28,000 litres providing transatlantic range. During sea trial, hull number one easily met her 13 knot design speed. At the "economy"cruising speed of nine knots, her fuel consumption was as expected at 55 litres per hour. In her maneuvering test she executed a 74-meter-diameter turning circle, and in sound measurements with both engines and genset running, she met or was better than predicted levels: no guest cabin exceeded 50 dB(A) at cruising speed and 54 dB(A) at maximum speed. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the Moonen 97 is equipped by twin Caterpillar engines, Naiad zero-speed stabilizers, Cramm bow thruster, and is built to Lloyd’s Register Class and MCA Certification.
