Web: Beneteau New Web Site

Beneteau headlining brand of Groupe Beneteau and one of the most popular production boat builders updates its global web showroom. Beneteau was founded 1884 in Vendee by fully qualified ship builder Benjamin Beneteau, who sets up a boat yard with the family name building trawlers for fisherman. 24 years pass and as any builder who beats the age of time Benjamin sets provocation in motion when in 1910 he builds the first engine boat called "Vainqueur des Jaloux", Conqueror of the Jealous in English which sets a lot of drama and also gets accused this is scaring the fish away. In 1928 Andre Beneteau son of Benjamin takes over yard management duties, and two years later he shows the way forward building "Le Jeannot" a faster design trawler which he christens Poursuivante, translated in English to Pursuer. It is 1945 the ending of World War II, which prompts Vendee and the fishing fleet of the area needing a total rebuild, and Andre pursues his creativity by presenting the first trawler boats with bridges. This is followed in 1955 with more tuna fisherman thinking creating the first live bait storage. In 1964 the third generation Beneteau boat builders Annette Beneteau Roux, brother Andre, and husband Louis-Claude Roux take the helm pursuing the road into recreational boats and the use of fiberglass as a building material. A year later passes and Beneteau exhibits for the first time at the Paris boat show presenting the Peches Promenade concept of fishing pleasure boats. 1967 Beneteau follows more its production instincts launching the Forban and Galion models which achieve great success and are followed by another break through of Baroudeur a pleasure cruiser with living aboard comfort. 1973 sees Andre Beneteau responsible for design present the 32 Evasion first two masted yacht from the brand, and two years later this is followed by what the critics call one of his best projects the Astroblade. Between this in 1974 Beneteau launches a still today model range, its first planning motor boat the Antares, and in 1976 the 30 First designed by Andre Mauric is presented. This also marking a line which is still as at today existent. 1981 sees designer German Frers present the 42 First, recognized at the time as one of the most stable sailboats. In 1982 Beneteau is recognized as the largest production boat builder of the time. A century has passed since its founding in 1984 and Beneteau goes public on the Paris stock exchange. This is followed by more production facilities two years later when Beneteau opens a new building plant in Marion, South Carolina USA. 1987 sees the launch of another line with the Oceanis designed by Philippe Briand, and another innovative 35.5 First with project by Philippe Starck and Jean Berret is launched. In 1992 Groupe Beneteau is founded today featuring ten boat building brands: Beneteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon, Prestige, CNB, Monte Carlo Yachts, and the 2014 acquired Four Winns, Glastron, Wellcraft, and Scarab brands. Beneteau current line up features a total eleven different ranges of sailing, motor cruisers, and motor yachts; which start with the Flyer 5.5 Sundeck and go up to the Oceanis Yacht 62. The motorboat lines are the following;  Flyer, Barracuda, Antares Outboard, Antares Inboard, Gran Turismo, Swift Trawler, and Monte Carlo. The smallest motor boat is the Flyer 5.5 Sundeck at 17 feet, with the largest is the Monte Carlo 6. Project: Cranchi T55

Cranchi presents the project for the T55, a new flagship model in its 2013 launched Trawler line which today features two models of 43 and 53 feet.  The Cranchi T55 is an evolution of the 2014 launched T53 with design improvements coming from Christian Grande.  The changes Grande introduces to the T55 are more in line with modern similar type Explorer Yachts as the Magellano from Azimut, or the Navetta by Absolute.  There is two very visible changes from the outside, the fully windowed main deck, and the new stylish T-top on the flybridge.  But the changes on the T55 do not stop outside, with the main deck being revised, and now featuring a central pilot station with a galley to port side replacing the astern galley layout of the T53.  The lower deck seems unchanged, with a three double cabins two head featuring a full beam midships cabin being unchanged.  A single crew cabin berth is located forward.  Cranchi is not informing any news about engines, which is to imagine will remain as on the T53 for twin Volvo 435hp with IPS pod drive propulsion.

blogger - The End of a Year

2018 has come and gone, what has been another good year for the nautical industry over all.  It is still not all roses and flowers with some parts of the sector doing great, others good, and a part just managing to keep going.
The winner in the last three to four years has been the 24 meter plus super yacht industry, the bigger the size and luxurious the more the demand and better the performance.  Another sector which has seen impressive growth is that for the big tender boats, day cruisers, and center console, with these last becoming the boat of the North American boater sub fifteen meter.  The North American continent has always been the most important pleasure boat market in the World.  A sector still in a bit of pieces is that of the cruiser boat from ten to twenty meters.  This sector is doing okay but still very far away from the numbers it had ten to fifteen years ago.  We might also be experiencing a change of demand, so it is possible that the flybridge motor cruiser or sport cruiser will never see the sales and grip it had on the nautical market, at least in the near future.  Sportfish boats are doing okay, this part of the market has been stable in the past five years, with the repeated formula dominated by a few brands, and a handful of custom builders building boats on demand.  This again a market reserved for the most part to the East Coast of the Central and North Americas.
The year 2019 starting today looks to be one difficult to predict.  There is clouds in the horizon, mostly in the old continent, with three major countries having a set of different circumstances, that will create uncertainties in the European Union and beyond.  Obviously the dominant one will be Brexit, which not only means a cloud on three British motor boat builders, but also to the big chunk that is made of United Kingdom boat owners buying European Union made boats or using them in the EU.
PowerYacht wishes to its ready all the best of the festivities and a happy 2019 year.
