Nordic Tugs New Web Site

Nordic Tugs presents its new website. Nordic Tugs was founded by Jerry Husted in 1979, during the midst of the oil crises, debuting with the 26 model as designed by Lynn Senour with early twenty century tug boat looks and a semi displacement hull balancing speeds and fuel consumption. Presented at the Seattle boat show in 1980, the Nordic Tugs 26 sold thirty seven units in its first appearance, and a further seventeen for that whole month. After this success Nordic Tugs went on to expand the line with a 32 launched in 1985, the 37 in the mid nineties, 42 late nineties, and the 52 in 2002. The classic 26 was stopped in production in 1997, but Nordic Tugs returned it in production in 2009. Due to expansion Nordic Tugs also changed its establishment three times in its history but was always located in the home that is the Washington area, starting at Woodinville, moving in 1990 to Burlington, and in 1998 again in Burlington down the street from its previous facility. Nordic Tugs expanded the current facility in 2007, today having an area of 40,000 squared meters where it builds it current line offering six Explorer Cruiser and Yacht type models starting from the 26, up to the 54, with a new 50 model in project stages. Project: Sanlorenzo SD132

Sanlorenzo present the project for a new SD132, as designed by Zuccon and set to launch in 2026.  The Sanlorenzo SD132 is the largest ever SD range model, the semi-displacement hull shape and traditional ship looking series which debuted in 2007 with the SD92, and signaled a new era for the famous Italian semi-custom super yacht specialist.  The SD132 comes as a replacement to the SD126 after an eight year production run and about twenty hulls delivered.  The SD132 also completes the circle of the SD line with all the models now designed by Zuccon, and the second of the series after the SD118 to offer a beach club with flip-over bulk-heads which doubles in size when at anchor.  For this reason the tender garage is to be located on the port side, with a ship-side entrance.  Interior accommodation is for five guest suites, including of which is a large owners stateroom at the forward part of the main deck, while crew accommodation is for eight located on the forward part of the lower deck, this area also including a lobby with galley and dinette.  The Sanlorenzo SD132 is to be powered by twin Man 1400hp or Cats 1622hp engines for top speeds up to seventeen knots.

New Launch: Feadship 102.6m Hull.1011

Feadship has recently launched Hull.1011 from its facility in Makkum, with the 103 meter super yacht continuing fitting out and sea trials in the North Sea prior to delivery later on this year. Designed inside and out by Sinot with naval architecture by Azure, the clean-cut exterior lines and vertical bow lend Feadship fourth largest build to date a distinctive profile and purposeful personality. This Feadship super yacht will feature 1,100 square meters of exterior glass that includes twenty exterior sliding doors and twelve glass windbreaks. There are four outdoor hot tubs, a swimming pool covering the full height of the main deck and accessed from the pool deck; a helicopter hangar under the forward helipad and no fewer than eight hull doors, one of which is the largest tender garage door ever installed on a Feadship. Hull.1011 has been built for a highly experienced owner who was closely involved in every detail of the 103-metre project from the start. Project 1011 began with a challenging brief, with the owner stipulating similar amenities and living space as his previous yacht of 6,000GT but in a design of half the volume for easier access to anchorages and harbors. The result is a masterclass in space planning and rule exploration. On this size of yacht a two-tier engine room is virtually obligatory, but a key part of the design of hull 1011 is a single deck engine room in order to devote more interior volume to guest use. This idea seems to have caught up now with another project under construction in Makkum using the same solution.  Feadship Hull.1011 is to be titled m/y Ulysses, and is reportedly owned by a New Zealander.

Marina Fire at Pra, Genoa Burns Nine Boats

A fire in Pra, to the West side of Genoa, Italy just after 03:00 hours on the morning of Tuesday nineteen March burned and destroyed nine boats and damaged a further four of seven to eleven meters in size.  Guardia Costiera and Vigili del Fuoco responded to the fire with one person also being assisted by the 118 emergency medical team, being stuck on one of the boats in the raging fire, and reported as escaping with minor injuries.  Nine boats sank in this fire, while a remaining four are still floating, with the marina pontoon also receiving damage.  The Genoa Port Master advised the boat owners and marina owner to recover the boats and salvage the area, with a pollution boon being placed and cleaning operations starting on the early hours of the morning.  At this stage it is not understood how and where the fire started.
