New Model: Overmarine Mangusta Oceano 39

The first unit of the entry level in the Mangusta Oceano displacement line, the 39 was launched on 31 May in the presence of her Owner, the Overmarine Mangusta team, and all the workers that contributed to her construction. Developed and engineered by the shipyard's Engineering Department together with designer Alberto Mancini and design firm Studio Verme for the engineering part, the Mangusta Oceano 39 is a three-decker which harmoniously combines design and technology, endowing her entire category with a very strong identity. The Mangusta Oceano 39 can be described as a modern villa on the sea, featuring amazingly wide glass surfaces and much larger volumes than those normally found in her class. The saloons on the main and upper decks have floor-to-ceiling windows that can be partly opened to blend indoor and outdoor areas and create an exquisite open plan living space. The aft area and the foldable terraces provide access to the beach house, becoming a natural extension by the sea where guests can enjoy total relaxation in the utmost privacy. The Oceano 39 features a classic Mangusta design feature with the infinity pool located forward on the upper deck with a partially glass bottom that lets natural light filter through into the master stateroom, creating mesmerising water reflections. The first unit layout includes four spacious guest cabins on the lower deck and a master suite on the main deck, fitted with a fully-automated balcony that can be easily operated by the Owner. The interiors, fully customisable as is always the case on Mangusta yachts, have been pencilled by Overmarine's technical department architects working in concert with the Owner, coordinated by Sales Manager Nicolò Strocco, who oversaw the sale. The Mangusta Oceano 39 is powered by twin MTU 1700hp engines that deliver a cruising speed of twelve knots, and a maximum speed of sixteen with a range of up to 2,600 nautical miles, always ensuring Mangusta's traditional noiselessness and, therefore, unmatched comfort.  Also available is a more powerful twin MTU 2600hp which allow the Mangusta Oceano 39 to reach a cruising speed of eighteen knots and a maximum twenty. Overmarine is already into three hulls of the Mangusta 39 Oceano, with the third hull build as speculation and available for a new owner and an expected delivery in around the end of 2024.

Unattended Flybridge Cruiser Sinks in Grado

An attended eleven meter flybridge cruiser partly sank in Grado, in the Northern part of the Adriatic sea on the morning of fifteen June.  The flybridge cruiser was reported to uncared and near abandoned status for some time, with marina users reporting the danger of a sinking to the management.  Grado is a sea-side town village located just in the middle between Venice and Trieste, and in the region of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia.  The sea-side town boasts four busy marinas because of the not far away distance from the Croatian and its hundred of islands coast.
The boat in this sinking looks to be a Dellapasqua Carnevali 11 from the seventies.  These boats where usually build with a fiberglass hull and wood super structure, and powered by Ford or GM diesel engines with line shaft propulsion.

Project: C-Tender 53

The Custom Yacht C-Tender 53 comes from a design of Valentino E. Gabriele and Francesco Rogantin, and is a walk around sport yacht of sixteen meters in length.  The C-Tender 53 will offer three lower deck interior choice layouts; three double cabins, two cabins plus crew with a three berths second guest cabin, and large open plan double at midships.  The C-Tender 53 is to be standard powered by Volvo 440hp, optional  600hp both these with IPS pod propulsion, and or triple Mercury 450hp outboards with gas petrol.

An eight meter Sea Ray sport cruiser with one person onboard crashed into the pier of Irondequoit Bay, New York on 22:20 hours of Friday thirtieth June.  Monroe County Sheriff Office, US Coast Guard, Sea Breeze ambulance, and New York State Police responded to the call about the collision, with the sole person onboard taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor facial injuries. After receiving treatment the person onboard the vessel was arrested and charged for operating the boat intoxicated and without a boaters safety certificate.  The boat was removed the following morning by TowBoatU.S.

Super Yacht Saves One Hundred Migrants

A 93 meter super yacht titled m/y Mayan Queen IV rescued over one hundred migrants some 47 nautical miles off the coast of Greece Pelopenese peninsula southern coast on the early hours of fourteen June.  According to conflicting reports three hundred up to 750 migrants may have drowned when an abandoned or stolen North African fishing trawler overturned and capsized.  Hellenic Coast Guard reported that they attempted to make contact several times with the trawler, with the migrants refusing both assistance and supplies and replying they want to go to Italy.
The migration crisis in the Central Mediterranean has been ongoing since 1999 reaching its highest number in 2016 and 2014 respectively.  The countries mostly involved in this crisis are Italy, followed by Greece and Malta.  In 2016 Italy alone recovered and saved the lives of nearly two hundred thousand migrants.
Mayan Queen IV the super yacht involved in this rescue is a 2008 Blohm and Voss 93.25 meter designed by Tim Heywood for exterior and Terrence Disdale for the interior, and called project Safari during construction phase.  This Blohm and Voss build precedes the Lurssen ownership era started in 2016 and includes other noteworthy super yachts as A, Lady Moura, and Savarona making this exclusive list.

New Model: Delta 48 Coupe

Swedish Delta Powerboats has been an interesting boat builder to watch, standing out from the crowd with a practical but yet innovative product offer.  Celebrating twenty years in business in 2023, Delta being founded in 2003, there is no better way to celebrate with a new model, and here comes this 48 Coupe.  This new 48 Coupe is probably the most complete of all the Delta's that came before her, not that they were missing something, but this one has something suiting more the masses in its appearance, interior layout, and fuel consumption.  The Delta 48 Coupe is a sport cruiser with a performance attitude and while her 42 knots top speed number is not super high with the standard twin 440hp Volvo diesel on stern drives, its stepped deep Vee hull with 22 degrees deadrise say another story, which also translates in efficiency and an impressive 500 nautical mile range. The surprises from the Delta 48 Coupe do not stop here, and once you are onboard it delivers again impressive creature comforts below, with a three double cabins layout, and a living dining galley area located on the main deck.

Project: Apreamare Gozzo 35 Cabin

Apreamare present the project for the Gozzo 35 Cabin.  Building on Cataldo Aprea’s insight, Marco Casali and Umberto Tagliavini have created a new version of the best selling Gozzo 35 for year-round navigation, featuring a newly designed deckhouse with an elegant contoured structure.  Designed for owners who want to be able to cruise all year round, in all weather conditions and for several days at a time when desired, as in northern Europe waters, the great lakes of North America and Turkey, the new Cabin version of the Gozzo 35 is the thinking of reaching out to new customer segments and markets.  All and this was the big challenge without betraying the winning spirit that animates Apreamare’s projects: seaworthiness, hull stability, comfort and beautiful lines inspired by the centuries-old tradition of Sorrento gozzo boats.  So, as needs and lifestyles change, the Sorrento boatyard’s answer is quick to arrive, with the help of Marco Casali and Umberto Tagliavini to create a boat that follows in the footsteps of her open sister, which they designed, but with solutions that revolutionise the concept. Elegant and impactful, the deckhouse bathes the entire cockpit in a profound sense of protection: the volume of the structure is made to look lighter by the extensive perimeter glazing, which floods the lounge with light and offers guests a spectacular 360-degree view of the horizon. The interiors and exteriors talk to each other in perfect harmony through a four-section plate glass door. Its functions are twofold: to create a single space connecting the indoor and outdoor settings or, when closed, to protect guests from excessive heat or bad weather. Here, in fact, as well as the helm station and a functional galley behind it with a sink and hob, there is also an L-shaped dinette to enjoy meals in company and in maximum comfort.  The iconic status of the Sorrento gozzo boat is highlighted on this new Cabin version not only by the intense sensation of living in close contact with the sea and nature, but also by the care lavished on onboard comfort: the as always very generous stern platform, an extensive sun pad forward with panoramic seating, the pull-out L-shaped table seating six in the cockpit and the wide side decks. The high bulwarks have also made it possible to raise the deck and therefore increase the volume of the interiors, without compromising the boat’s lines. As a result, the height of the gunwale is 20 cm lower and a rail has been added to maintain the boat’s lateral flow, but also and most importantly for reasons of safety, given this new model’s exceptional cruising capabilities. This design solution delivers truly outstanding volume for a boat classified as under ten metres. Design work also focused on the liveability of the spaces below deck, with the aim of creating a layout with two cabins and a bathroom. While the forward area remains basically the same, the new layout brings benefits for the bathroom and shower, which now offer more surface area. The guest cabin amidships also gains in terms of width, with room for a bed that is 140 cm wide at head level. In terms of propulsion, the boat offers the practicality and reliability of a traditional in-line shaft arrangement with two Volvo Penta 270hp engines, and or the same engines with stern drives.  The first Apreamare Gozzo 35 Cabin is scheduled to hit the water in the early months of 2024.

Classic Bertram Burns and Sinks in Liguria

A fourteen meter Bertram classic sportfish cruiser with five people onboard; four men and a woman went ablaze on 20:30 hours of Saturday ten June.  The Bertram was travelling from Lavagna in Eastern Liguria to Cala Medici yacht marina in Tuscany, when for an unknown reason ten nautical miles into its trip it went ablaze in front of Deiva Marina.  As soon as the boaters noticed the fire a MayDay was called, answered by the La Spezia coast guard operation, with the boaters first finding help from a passing by Rib, with the Sestri Levante coast guard later assisting in trying to stop the fire, and then taking the boaters to safety.  The five boaters where then later transported to Tigullio harbour where an ambulance was awaiting for a routine check to the five boaters, as they were unharmed with the exception for a shock. The classic Bertram was near to all engulfed by the fire, and then sank in the depths of the Ligurian sea.
The Bertram in this fire is a 46 Convertible also called the 46.6 because of the 46 feet six inches length, as designed by Dave Napier and produced from 1971 to 1987.  The Bertram 46 Convertible was replaced by the 50 Convertible with a second generation 46 coming in 1995.
