Boat Wrecked by Fire at Chattanooga Yacht Club, Tennessee

A not attended twelve meter flybridge cruiser ended fire wrecked as it was houseboat docked at Chattanooga Yacht Club in Chickamauga Lake, Hamilton County, Tennessee before 14:30 of Tuesday 24 August.  Hamilton County's Office of Emergency Management tended first to the blaze and were then assisted by Sale Creek VFD and Hamilton County Marine Rescue with a fire boat and Chattanooga Fire Department, who controlled the fire, and managed to stop it from spreading to other sheds and nearby boats.  No injuries were reported, with the cause of the blaze being under investigation.

Project: Astondoa AS5

New Model: Sacs Rebel 55

In Summer 2021 Sacs launched its new Rebel 55, a seventeen meter rib yacht designed by Christian Grande.  Flagship of the three model Rebel range, and second in size to the Strider 19, the Sacs Rebel 55 presents itself as a centre console rib with interesting exterior and interior comforts.  As many large rib yacht over fifteen meters in size, the Rebel 55 has a lot of design and technical content, starting from the D-shape foam filled tubes, to its particular safe walkaround design.  The accommodation of the Rebel 55 will offer an interior with two large cabins; owners room at midship, guest forward, and an L-shape dinette.  Exterior spaces are seventeen meters from bow to aft, offering a central dinette. aft and fore sun-pads, and a galley behind the central console at midship.  The Sacs Rebel 55 is powered by twin Volvo 725hp with IPS pod drives, and reaches speeds up to 37 knots.  A high performance outboard version with quadruple Mercury 600hp is the other engine option, this reaching speeds up to 47 knots.

Project: Rio 46 Daytona

In the year of its sixtieth anniversary, Rio presents a new sport cruiser synonymous with freedom and luxury: Daytona 46.  The Daytona range, which started in September 2020 with the 34 model, a huge success from the start which just after a few months from presentation at the Genoa Boat Show sold the entire 2021 year production.  Now meeting the demand for practical and sporty open cruisers, suitable first for short-distance cruising, with preference for space above rather than below deck, with dynamic and fun performances, Rio present the project of the Daytona 46.  Designed by Marino Alfani, the Daytona 46 will offer a two double cabin interior with a saloon, and a spacious bathroom to starboard.  Living on this new generation centre console is located on the main deck, with three seater helm station under the central T-top, galley and dinette behind it, and an aft and fore deck sundeck.  Just as happens with the latest centre console the Rio Daytona 46 also offers opening side bulwarks which increase the space of the aft part of the main deck.  The Rio Daytona 46 is powered by twin Yanmar 370hp with stern drive propulsion, giving a max speed of 35 knots.  An outboard option with twin Mercury 450hp is also available, this giving a top speed up to forty knots.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SL96 Asymmetric

After launching its first Asymmetric SL102 model, Sanlorenzo continue to update its traditional SL line into the concept of asymmetry where a side of the yacht is different to the other.  In the case of the new SL96 Asymmetric, the port side is a wide body for the interior space, offering about an extra ten square meters of interior space.  Designed by Bernardo Zuccon with the asymmetry concept from Chris Bangle the SL96 Asymmetric offers a standard interior layout of four double cabins, with an owners stateroom on the main deck.  The SL96 Asymmetric is standard powered by twin Man 2000hp or optional MTU 2218hp with line shaft propulsion. The SL96 Asymmetric which was presented in the 2020 Dusseldorf boat show is proving very popular, with already twelve hulls delivered of the model.  The SL96 Asymmetric is based on the hull of the 2011 launched SL94 which became the SL96 in 2014, and now sees again this next transformation.

Sport Cruiser Explodes Goes Ablaze at Island Boatyard, New York

An eight meter sport cruiser with three persons onboard exploded first and then went ablaze at Island Boatyard in Shelter Island, to the East of Long Island, New York on the afternoon of Friday twenty August.  Shelter Island Fire Department responded to the blaze first, and were later assisted by Police Department marine unit, Suffolk County Sherriff’s marine unit, and a Sea Tow vessel.  The three boaters get off safely from the boat, which then drifted very close into nearby West Nock Harbor, and then getting wrecked and partly sunk.  The boat was reported to have just refuelled and exploded on ignition.  The three boaters suffered no injuries with one fire fighter threated for smoke inhalation on the spot.

The boat in this fire is a 2002 Cobalt 263.  The 263 was produced from 2001 to 2007 and was a replacement to the 253, with the model not replaced as Cobalt focused its energies on bow riders rather then cuddy cruisers in this size. 

Project: Tankoa T45 Sportiva

Tankoa T45 Sportiva is a 45 metres super sport yacht.  The aft of T45 Sportiva is all about the relationship with water, the joy of interaction with the sea, the wonder of the open horizon. The bow lounge is embedded in the deck, beneath the eyeline of the wheelhouse. The external line is clean and sinuous. Sleek lines are emphasised all the more on the T45 yacht’s two-deck alternative. The completely open beach platform is the primary connection with the environment. Here, slipping into the sea is effortless. Or the infinity pool is a beautiful place to soak and enjoy spectacular, unforgettable views. When the extendable sides of the beach club fold open, the yacht boasts 100 sq m of open beach club.  On the hybrid-propulsion version, guest rooms connect directly to the spa, which connects directly to the beach terrace.  On the main deck, the dining area, a circular space at the centre of the yacht, can be an interior space or open air. In fact, half the entire deck can be opened to the external environment. T45 Sportiva will weight about 250 tons, and no power or speed choices have been announced.

One Person Injured as Sport Cruiser Burns in Policastro

An eight meter Rio sport cruiser went on fire while berthed in a Marina in Policastro on the late morning of  twentieth August.  The cause of the accident are unknown but one of the Marina guys who got hold of the sport cruiser and took it off harbour to avoid further damage to other nearby boats was seriously injured with 30% of burns to his body.  Policastro located in the South of Italy, further South of Salerno, features some nice cruising areas.  

The sport cruiser in this fire accident is a Rio 850 Cruiser as produced from 1996 till 2000.  The Rio 850 Cruiser replaced the 900 Cabin and was replaced by the 950 Cruiser.

Improve-It = Sunseeker 76 Yacht

New for 2021 Sunseeker present a galley aft layout on the 76 Yacht model. Project: Holterman X-treme 54

Holterman Shipyard in the Netherlands had unveiled the newest design of the X-treme 54. A smaller sibling of the X-treme 105, the 54 is also to be the entry level of this new modern looking explorer and super yacht range from Holterman designed by Dutch Bernd Weel.  After the big success from the X-treme 105 with unit one sold and currently under construction and nearly completed, Holterman pump up the X-treme range of models with an X-54 under construction.  The X-treme 54 is a smaller sibling of the 105, as is evident from the similar modern interior and sturdy exterior looks.  The X-treme yachts are defined by  their extreme capabilities, with the 54 being a result of craftsmanship, quality and exclusivity, making for a special explorer yacht. The X-treme 54 is to be equipped with two Volvo 175hp with estimated top speeds of ten knots, and a cruise of eight, this last delivering a range up to 2400 nautical miles.  The first X-treme 54 is on schedule to be delivered in the coming fall of 2021.
