New Model: Bruno Abbate Primatist B62 Aerotop Pininfarina

It's been a much long wait for the new second in size model of the Bruno Abbate Primatist family, the B62 Aerotop Pininfarina.  Finally launched the B62 completes the today all in the water five model Pininfarina designed family which starts with the recently launched B41, and goes up to the G70 the start up for the collaboration with the known design firm and the Italian Como boat builder in 2005.  As all the Aerotop Pininfarina I think the B62 brings a breath of fresh air in design terms to the industry versus the competition, from the look of the super structure to some unedited layouts which we have seen in other models of the range as the Special Edition option of the open aft deck shown for the first time on a custom orange colored G46, and since then also developed for another G53, and now shown on hull one of this latest Primatist. Inside the Bruno Abbate Primatist B62 is offered in a standard three cabins versions all with personal shower head; full beam owners stateroom, VIP suite to forward, and double guest cabin to starboard.  Below is also a separate galley located to port side, although in four cabins version I imagine this to be replaced by same and kitchen moved on the main deck.  Relaxing lounge is on the main deck a large L-shaped settee behind the very nice two seat helm, and entertainment area opposite. A crew cabin for one person is located to midships between the owners and engine room.  Power for hull one is from twin Volvo 900hp with IPS1200 pods which should give top speeds in the region of 35 knots.

Engine: MAN D2868 LE421 600hp

In the D2868, MAN is offering the first eight-cylinder engine with common-rail technology for medium and heavy-duty operation. Thanks to the use of the latest common-rail technology, with its own internal measures the high-speed engine complies with the most important exhaust-gas standards worldwide. Moreover, this efficient diesel engine from MAN offers further improved fuel consumption with even lower noise emissions. Its full classification by the major societies expands the range of operating options that ship owners and captains have. The first product variant, the D2868 LE423 for light-duty operation, has already established itself on the market.  In heavy-duty operation, the efficient MAN D2868 LE421 marine diesel engine for applications requiring up to 100 percent full load over unlimited periods of time outputs 600hp at 1800 rpm. With the D2868 LE421, MAN has expanded its range of new-generation high-speed diesel engines towards the lower end of the power output spectrum and is thus able to offer attractive solutions particularly for applications in this part of the range. Designed primarily for installation in tugs, push boats and heavy working vessels, this efficient eight-cylinder engine ensures reliable operation with minimal service costs and low fuel consumption The MAN D2868 LE421 600hp is available for delivery from the first quarter of 2013.

Project: Princess V48

Quick as thunder comes Princess response to the other British builder new fourteen meter offering, and this is the project for a 2013 scheduled V48.  Considering again how much the V42 Mk.3 and V45 are targeting the same customer I actually think that Princess are quite late here, and it is obvious that this model has been in development in Plymouth for quite some time.  The Princess V48 sees the World renowned British builder first use of the 2005 presented Volvo IPS pods.  Conservative looks and new technology usage some might say.  Unlike the other new offer from the competition the Princess V48 will features a more all year round use enclosed main deck thanks to a three part patio door. As is custom this can open all enclose the central part of the main deck, which with the hard top open can make the V48 become very open.  Down below the V48 offers two cabins, with full beam owners room, and L-shaped galley  saloon settee opposite in between.  Think Princess will loose some customers if three cabins are not offered, although I think they did this on purpose as this model will then offer competition to the current V52. We will see if this will be offered at a later stage. Power is Volvo 435hp IPS pods combination with high positive estimates of a 34 knots max speeds

New Model: Sunreef 60 Power

The Sunreef 60 Power was made in response to the growing demand for compact yet highly impressive powerboats. This yacht has all the features of the popular 70 Power, except its eight meters and half beam makes it more convenient for crowded marinas, especially in the Mediterranean. The first unit of the Sunreef 60 Power has been commissioned by a European owner, in July 2012. This is laid out in a semi-owner version with two double cabins in the forward section, two double cabins in the starboard hull, and one double, one bunk-bed cabin in the port hull. All cabins have private bathrooms and abundant storage. The interior of the main deck features the galley and a dining area, while a mezzanine floor located in the midships features the internal helm station and lounge, providing access to the forward guest cabins. The spacious sun deck, Sunreef’s speciality and trademark, comprises the external helm station, wet bar, dining area and a huge sun pad, ideal for outdoor lounging in the sun. There is also an option to include a Jacuzzi on the flybridge. The interior design of hull one is modern and minimalist, based on wenge and oak contrast, finished with cream and white upholstery and brushed stainless steel details. Interior is fully custom in finishing and and Sunreef offers two flybridge, six main deck, and six lower cabin area choices which can accommodate three of four guest rooms, one or two crew cabins, and galley up or down.  Power for hull one featured largest twin MAN 800hp choice which gives 25 knots max, and 20 cruise speeds.

LOA - 18.29 m (60ft)

Project: Fairline 48 Targa Open

Fairline return to the drawing board and present the 48 Targa Open, which is a further development and three feet extension of the 45 project presented earlier on this year.  This new 48 Targa Open fits more the bill of the current range sitting nicely between the 44 and 50, and sees also the return of a full beam midships located owners cabin.  Latest Fairline models as the Targa 58 and 50 all went for a different to the competition forward owners cabin.  Two choices for the lower deck will be available a standard two cabins, settee, and galley, or a third cabin with bunk berths replacing the medium sized L-shaped sofa. The 48 Targa Open sees also increase in windows and the side look of the upper structure has been updated with a more sports design again versus the project of the 45. The aft deck seems to offer a lot of space not only in the big sun pad, and C-shaped settee but a lot of moving room.  Something which I particularly like.  The 48 will also offer a high low bathing platform which with the garage accommodating up to a small Williams jet rib can actually carry two tenders. A Gran Turismo version with full Hard Top should also be offered, although the Open pictured above offers a similar concept with a removable soft top.  Engine will be a Volvo 435hp with IPS 600 pod choice only.  The 48 Targa Open looks a pretty have it all sport cruiser in my books though it is  a pity they did not offer ZF pods with some bigger horses for this model.

Nord West New Web Site

Nord West from Sweden presents its new World wide web virtual showroom.  The current Nord West story starts in 1985 when Benny Martinsson sets his own shop after coming from a previous ten years carrier, working with other boat builders. After doing a lot of sub contracting work in 1989 Benny Martinsson decides its time to start building his own boats and he buys the Nord West brand from Norway including two models, a 900 and 1100.  These models will be improved by Benny himself and will later be joined by two other models; the 1000 and 380 Trawler.  In 1996 a huge set back occurs to Nord West when the factory in Orust burns to the ground.  Contrary to normality this set back also creates expansion for Benny Martinsson and Nord West as he buys the Vindo shipyard, and sets up a project to improve and expand the range.   The Vindo shipyard in Orust is today regarded among the most advanced in Sweden.  In 2000 Nord West launches the innovative 390 who in its premiere launch in Stockholm won Boat of the Show.  This model will be the inspiration for the future of Nord West who does it again in 2007, launching its most successful 420 Flybridge which since then has sold to over one hundred units in its first three years of production, and received the title of Motor Boat of the Year twice, in 2007 and 2008.  A year later to the 420 presentation Nord West launches the 370, first in the Coupe and Flybridge variants, and in 2008 as Sport and Sportstop models.  The Nord West 370 will win a list of awards; Scandinavian Boat Innovation Award in Stockholm, Boat of the Year in England, European Powerboat of the Year and Motorboat of the Fair in Finland.  In August 2009 Nord West opened its brand new showroom in Orust, a live set up where new and refurbished used boats are sold all year round.  Nord West latest model has been the new 430 Sport and Sportstop presented in 2011 and sold in over thirty units.  In that same year Nord West has also acquired sailing boat builder Najad founded in the late sixties by Berndt and since then building over two thousand boats.  Nord West current range features eight models from the 370 Sport to the 560 Flybridge.  Nord West new web site is available in English, Swedish, Italian, and Chinese language and takes you around with the following buttons; Motorboats, Sailing Yachts Najad, Company, For Sale, Enjoy Boating, and Webshop.  The new Nord West site also features direct link to the company official social networks hubs; Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

Project: Jeanneau NC 14

There is no two without a three or so says an Italian proverb, which Jeanneau follow to the letter with this new NC 14 project.  Following by two years and a half the launch of the NC 11 the first of the range, which was followed by the smaller 9 model, this new Jeanneau will be the largest of this line designed by Garroni for all year round boating.   Jeanneau has so far not passed much details, apart from the fact that we already know, that practical transforming features will be found even more in this new flagship model of the NC range.  Power for the NC 14 which is something we know will come from twin Volvo 300hp diesel engines, with IPS400 pod drives.

New Model: Sacs 15 Strider

Sacs presents the new 15 Strider, evolution of a series that includes seven models from 8 to 15 meters, which have the same design, but different length and roominess. This new model is a gain a project of designer and long time Sacs collaborator Christian Grande and sits at the top of the range or Rib Cruisers and Yachts. Despite the walk around deck, the 15 Strider features a nice cabin with maximum height reaching two meters in the galley and in the shower head. At the stern, an electric system allows preparing the parasol without any effort, while at the bow, the bimini can be mounted using lightweight carbon supports to slip into their seats. The aft sun pad and the bathing platform are enormous and their sizes define the daily vocation of the 15 Strider. Project: Azimut 43 Magellano HT

It is a growing trend to offer versions of the same model, which cater for different owners uses and  tastes.  Azimut always in high alert to client trends does actually this with the project of the 43 Magellano HT for Hard Top, to be presented a month later to the full flybridge version at the Genoa boat show.  This new 43 Magellano follows all the style of the flybridge sister designed by Cor D. Rover and having Bill Dixon much celebrated semi displacement dual mode hull.  A three cabins lower deck with owners cabin to fore, and a living on the main deck with astern galley are the characteristics of this entry level of the Magellano range.  Power is from twin Cummins 305 or 355hp which should give a max speed of 22 knots.
