A classic fifteen meter Baia yacht with one person aboard went ablaze offshore to Les Salins beach, in St. Tropez to the South of France at around 11:00 morning time of Friday July 24. Fire fighters and the local coast guard tended to the accident, rescuing the sole boater onboard, and ten extinguishing the blaze. The one person onboard is reported to have suffered mild smoke inhalation. The classic yacht was ultimately wrecked in the fire.
The yacht in this accident is a Baia B50 as designed by Don Aronow and produced from 1983 to 1990 in around fifty units. The B50 was a replacement to the Data 80 15.10 meters, and was replaced by the Baia B49.
