Tiara Boat Hits Underwater Reef in Bosa Sardinia

An eleven meter Tiara express sportfish cruiser hit an underwater reef of the Bosa seawall, to the West of Sardinia before 18:00 hours of Sunday fifteen June.  The boaters were assisted by a rib, as they dropped the tender down.  The exact reason why the Tiara cruiser ended aground, are not reported, although it looks to be an error of navigation, as it hit the underwater reef close to the break water marker, and also tried to pass from the North part of the sea wall.  A plan to float the Tiara cruiser and take it to a yard for repairs was being organized on that same evening.
The Tiara in this grounding is a 3800 Open as produced from 2001 to 2008.  The 3800 Open was a replacement to the Tiara 3700 Open, and was replaced by the 3900 Open.

Project: Cantieri di Pisa Custom 40

Cantieri di Pisa’s Custom Division celebrated the start of construction work on a 40-metre full custom yacht at its shipyard with the coin ceremony, a fascinating ritual with deep roots in maritime tradition. Called as the Cantieri di Pisa Custom 40, this made to order super yacht was sold by the shipyard a few months ago, extends across four decks and has a steel hull with an aluminium and composite superstructure. In an unusual feature for a 40-metre boat, this yacht has six cabins for guests and four for the crew on the Lower Deck, plus the captain’s cabin and the first officer’s quarters on the Bridge Deck. Antonio Luxardo’s design projects a highly original style that’s perfectly aligned with the brand identity and the owner’s wishes. This majestic yacht created by the Custom Division features sleek exterior lines that immediately bring to mind the classic style features of the shipyard’s most iconic models, such as the black and white air intake grilles, the black band running the length of the hull and the handrails transformed into design features. The custom yacht will have a gross tonnage under 500 GT and a length of 40 metres, providing the right space and comfort for a unique new layout on a boat this size, starting with the six cabins for guests; a refined owner’s stateroom with a private terrace forward on the Main Deck, plus four guest cabins and a VIP cabin on the Lower Deck. Then there are the six crew cabins, including the captain’s cabin next to the wheelhouse and the first officer’s quarters on the Bridge Deck. Two generous salons are located on the Main and Bridge Decks. The relaxation areas on all four decks are designed with loose furniture, sun loungers, sofas and sunbeds, while the aft cockpit is home to a large Jacuzzi. Also suitable for charter, the yacht is ideal for cruising anywhere in the world and features state-of-the-art entertainment systems. The Cantiere di Pisa Custom 40 engineering was developed by Studio Sa.Ma.Re Design by Francesco Samarelli with support from Antonio Luxardo, chief designer at Cantieri di Pisa, and Optima Design, the firm he founded in La Spezia. Built to Bureau Veritas class from steel and the superstructure from aluminium and advanced composite materials using vacuum technology, a distinguishing feature of Cantieri di Pisa’s product line that results in lighter weight and a lower centre of gravity, and therefore better propulsion efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. The large garage in the midship section of the yacht has a lateral launching system for a tender up to 6.6 metres in length, plus various water toys and a jet ski. There’s also a fully fitted galley, various pantries on all four decks, fridge and freezer areas and a high-capacity laundry, which taken together with the generous storage spaces on every deck, make this 40-metre yacht ideal for long stays on board in total comfort. The propulsion will be provided by two Man 1550hp engines, giving the Custom 40 an estimated top speed of fifteen knots and a range of 2,000 nautical miles at cruising speed.

Examples are the pleated leather produced exclusively for this super yacht and the colours chosen for the fabrics, inspired by the four seasons. The ceilings clad in a new generation leather, tanned using natural materials, and the marble-effect ceramic slabs reveal an environmentally conscious selection of materials. The choice of wood also involved careful consideration of environmental certifications issued by the most authoritative international bodies, including the FSC Forest Stewardship Council and the PEFC Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, ensuring responsibly managed forests with a focus on biodiversity and the wellbeing of local communities. This first Benetti B.Now 67M layout also differs from the original design, particularly in terms of the numerous wellness areas, including a sauna in the beach club and a gym on the main deck, as requested by the owner. The exterior styling by RWD, the UK firm with which Benetti has worked successfully on the entire B.Now line. The Benetti B.Now 67M has six decks, from the top Observation Deck down to the Under Lower Deck, this super yacht is extremely spacious both outdoors, with around 500 square metres of usable space, and indoors, with a 65-square-metre Main Salon and a full-beam owner’s suite on the Upper Deck, made possible by moving the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin up to the next deck. With two VIP cabins on the Main Deck and four cabins on the Lower Deck, it can accommodate up to 15 guests. The design accessories on board this first B.Now 67M are by Visionnaire, a brand favoured by the owner for its excellent craftsmanship and the quality of the materials, both perfectly in tune with Benetti’s mission to offer a unique aesthetic and sensory experience.

Princess Yacht Collides Into Pier in Rhodes, Greece

A 25 meter Princess motor yacht collided into the berthing pier of Mandraki Harbour, to the North East of the island of Rhodes on the morning of Friday sixth June.  The story was shared on the Boating in Greece Facebook group page, as a short reel of 45 seconds films the Princess yachts striking the jetty and what looked like its slow speed of about eight knots.  With the impact the yacht is seen taking its bow for about three meters of length out of the water and on top of the jetty, before going back fully in the water with the impact. The cause of the collision was not reported though a speculation in the comments was that it was a throttle malfunction.
The Princess yacht in this collision is a Princess 85 MY as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2008 to 2012 in nineteen units.  The 85 MY was a replacement to the 25M and was replaced by the Princess 88 MY.

Three Yachts Destroyed two boats damaged by Fire in Sunny Isles, Florida

A fourteen meter flybridge cruiser and two yachts of 21 and 26 meters in size were fire wreck, with two other boats of fifteen and eleven meters also sustaining damage at Sunny Isles Beach Marina, Florida, for a blaze which started just after 05:00 morning time of Friday sixth June.  The fire reportedly started on the fourteen meter flybridge cruiser, and then jumped to a seventy foot Azimut, and another yacht of 26 meters in size.  Miami Dade Fire Rescue and US Coast Guard responded to the fire from both land and water, as they also towed one of the yachts away, the first which seems to went ablaze and broke its mooring, this was made in order to reduce damage to nearby boats and property as this boat was drifting ablaze near the marina.  Fast Response Marine Towing and Salvage also helped in the operation, as he towed away and saved an eleven meter Beneteau sport cruiser which was next in the fire line and the wind going right to left in the picture.  No injuries are reported from the fire, with boats and yachts being unattended, as the cause of the blaze is being investigated, with the flybridge cruiser and the two yachts becoming a total wreck, and a flybridge yacht of fifteen meters and a sport cruiser of eleven meter also sustaining damages.  A couple of jet-skis and a rib also burned in the fire.
The boat which seems to have started this fire is a Sessa F48, this then jumped right to left in the picture above to an Azimut 70, and then to a 2003 Falcon 86 titled m/y U.A.I.  A Galeon 500 Fly which was to port side of the Sessa also sustained damage, while the Fast Response saved sport cruiser which also had smoke damage on its stern is a Beneteau Gran Turismo 40.

Two Boats Wrecked by Fire in Key West Florida

Two boats of thirteen meters in length went ablaze at Stock Island Yacht Club marina, at 6000 Peninsular Ave, Key West, Florida on the late afternoon of Thursday fifth June.  The cause of the fire is not reported with the boat to the left of the screen titled m/y Emily Anne going ablaze first, and then its fire going to the boat on its port side titled m/y Spirit.  Monroe County Sheriff Office and US Coast Guard sector Key West responded to the blaze, as both boats eventually got wrecked.  No one was injured as both boats had no persons onboard as they went ablaze, although the boat to the right of the picture was a liveaboard home of a father and a daughter.
The boat which started the fire M/y Emily Anne is a 1989 Hatteras 45 Convertible Series II as designed by Jack Hargrave and produced from 1984 to 1992. The other boat which went ablaze is a 1988 Marine Trader Tradewinds 43, a model produced from 1987 to 1991.
The liveaboard aft cabin boat is owned by Trawler Tom - Sea Diesel who back in twelve April of this year did go all out of his way to help a grounded liveaboard boat in KeyWest. A GoFundMe donation has been open for Tom and his daughter to raise money and buy a new liveaboard boat.  Link to to the GoFundMe in the comments section below.

Pilot Boat Collides Into Super Yacht in Venice

A pilot boat collided into a super yacht of about fifty meters of length which was moored in-front of the Basilica La Salute, in the Giudecca channel, Venice, just before mid-day of Wednesday June four.  No one was injured in the collision with the pilot boat actually reported to be taking the pilot for the super yacht, so it navigates out of the Venice channel and into open sea.  The yacht was seen leaving following the accident, and the damage if any was not reported.  Looks like the pilot boat had its throttle stuck forward, just enough to have momentum and collide into the yacht stern and finish partly for a few seconds atop its bathing platform, before it went astern and fully back in the water.
The super yacht of about fifty meters in length of this collision was not reported and is not identified.

Twelve Persons Saved as Sport Cruiser Goes Ablaze Near Procida

Twelve persons were saved as a twelve meter sport cruiser went ablaze near Marina Grande, to the North of the Phlegraean Island of Procida on the afternoon of Monday second June.  The twelve persons were first assisted by nearby boaters, with the Port Captaincy of Ischia boat CP 807 coordinated by the Maritime Directorate of Naples following.  A Vigili dell Fuoco fire fighting boat also came to extinguish the blaze.  Ultimately the boat was wrecked by the fire, and barely floating.  Following the fire one boater was kept under observation, as the other eleven persons were uninjured and taken on land by the Samaritan boaters which helped out and the CP boat.  The cause of the fire is said but not confirmed to have started from a mechanical failure.
The sport cruiser in this fire is a 2024 build Nerea NY40 as designed by IdeaeItalia and produced from 2022.  Nerea was founded in 2018 by Sicilian from Trapani native Dario Messina, with the company debuting with the NY24 in 2019, this followed by the NY40 its second model, three years later.

Project: Marex 390

Marex present the project for an upcoming 390 model as designed by VOM Creations and Alpha Engineering. The Marex is designed as an addition to the 330 and 440 Scandinavian range, offering a perfect balance of open and enclosed spaces. To ensure Marex 390 meets the real needs of boaters, all feedback from the previous Marex owners was collected, and thoughtful details were incorporated. The Marex team worked closely with VOM Creations and Alpha Engineering, taking care to create a more open and comfortable space, in the 390 which will feature a warped variable V-shaped hull, and an innovative structure that ensures superior stability, efficiency, and performance on the water.  Long, sleek windows run along the hull, giving the profile a fresh and elegant look.  Marex has always prioritised functional design, and this is seen on the 390 in the details like the swim platform benches that serve a dual purpose: from seats next to the water to expansive stowage for fenders, lines, and toys. The new cockpit transparent door lets in more light and makes docking in harbours easier, while also keeping a connection to the sea.  The foredeck’s hatch has a hidden bow sprit to be easily flipped out, making access to land from the bow easy. The sun-pad also serves as a floating toy, a feature that is very popular among families. The adjustable backrest of the mattress allows it to be used as a chaise lounge.  The Marex signature enclosure, the Smart Canopy System, remains a highlight repeated in th390.  The side curtains can be deployed in seconds, and together with two sliding roofs, the boat can be adapted to various weather conditions.  The Marex 390 offers two generous dining areas; one in the open cockpit and another in the enclosed salon. In the cockpit, a U-shaped sofa extends to accommodate an additional starboard-side seat, comfortably seating up to eight guests around the table.  Inside, the salon features a more spacious layout, resulting in a more open and social atmosphere. A reversible backrest transforms the seating into a U-shaped dining area around the table. When the backrest is positioned at the rear, it creates a co-pilot seat. A foldable office table completes the setup, offering a practical workspace.  A large sliding door combined with a retractable window allows the salon and cockpit to open up into one continuous space, perfect for socialising with family and friends.  The galley is compact but cleverly designed. It includes an induction Miele hob (with generator installed) or a gas hob, a sink with a cover, a double fridge and freezer, an optional oven, and plenty of storage, including new upper cabinets on both sides of the salon. The solar panel system, installed on the roof, provides constant power for the fridge and lights, allowing for boating away from shore power.  The accommodation on the Marex 390 is designed to deliver true home comfort on the water. Both the forward and midship cabins feature enlarged double beds with premium mattresses that improve sleeping quality. Spacious wardrobes and generous standing height add to the overall sense of comfort. In the midship cabin, a sofa serves as a cosy seating area or an additional sleeping space for children. A separate shower contributes to the home-like atmosphere, while large windows on the lower deck fill the space with natural light, creating a bright and airy ambiance.  The Marex 390 is to be powered by twin Volvo 320hp or 380hp with sterndrive propulsion, or a single 480hp on V-drive line shaft.
