Two Man Saved as Sportfish Yacht Sinks Off Virginia Beach

Two boaters were rescued as a seventeen meter sportfish yacht titled m/y Turn Me Loose sank 34 nautical miles off the coast of Virginia Beach at 9:07 morning time of Thursday twelve June. The two boaters, a sixty year old father and thirty year old son launched a distress call advising the sportfish yacht was sinking and its position, after which they abandoned ship and jumped into the life raft.  US Coast Guard Sector Virginia received the call, for which they dispatched a 45 foot response craft, a patrol craft, and a Jayhawk helicopter, who were later assisted by Virginia Beach Fire Boat 12.   After being indicated the exact position of the life raft the Calhoun patrol craft crew saved the boaters.  The boaters were not injured with the cause of the sinking not reported.  An advise to mariners was sent to pay attention for a semi submerged wreck circling the area thirty nautical miles off Virginia Beach.
M/y Turn Me Loose is a 1988 Buddy Davis 61 Convertible as produced from 1987 up to 1992 in 35 units.  The 61 Convertible was Buddy Davis second production model following the 47, and was replaced by the 58 Convertible.
