New Launch: Van Der Valk 35.31m Hull no. WV0146

It is sometimes said that everything has a rhythm, and so it seemed at the end of May, just as the Mediterranean yachting season unofficially kicked off with the Cannes film festival and the Monaco Grand Prix, one of Van der Valk’s latest custom yachts hull number WV0146 was successfully launched in the Netherlands as she entered her final stages of construction before delivery. Built as Project Samba, the 35-metre all-aluminium tri-deck superyacht features exterior and interior design by Guido de Groot, with naval architecture by Diana.  Titled m/y Lalabe, this fully custom Van der Valk shares hull design and naval architecture with three other Van der Valk's, a platform which debuted with the pluri-prized hull number WV127 titled as m/y Lady Lene.  The similarities between the four custom triple deck super yachts stops there; even though three of the four are designed by Guido de Groot for the exterior.  This WV0146 is also the largest of the quadrumvirate, being also a meter longer to its three other sisters.

Classic Style Yacht Ends Aground Near Delaware Bay

A seventeen meter classic style yacht ended aground near the Elbow of Cross Ledge abandoned light house in the Delaware Bay, on the evening of Tuesday 26 August.  The yacht was reported to be in a delivery trip when its captain is reported to have lost attention and collided into shallow waters.  The yacht was assisted by Sea Tow Cape May, who started to work in removing it from the reef.  This operation was started the following day by emptying the 1700 litres of diesel fuel, and then by removing the yacht on Thursday, with this being done with help from Northstar Marine, who brought a barge with a 275 ton crane, and lifted the yacht from its precarious position.
The yacht in this grounding is a first version Vicem 58 Classic Flybridge as produced from 2010 to 2017.  The Vicem 58 Classic Flybridge was a replacement to the 55 Classic Flybridge, with the model evolving into a second version in 2018.

New Model: Rio Parana 40

Rio present the new Parana 40, an evolution and replacement to the Parana 38 which arrived in 2016. It is an evolution not only in length but also in details, larger hull windows but also a rub rail connected the hull and super structure which stops at half ship, making the lower and top deck look as one whole peace.  Measuring thirteen meters overall, the Parana 40 is the evolution of the Italian sport cruiser, which strikes the balance between internal and external spaces, leaving no detail overlooked. In the single level cockpit, you’ll find a teak table that, thanks to an electric control to lower or raise, offers two distinct scenarios depending on the occasion: a convivial moment seated around the table or a spacious sunbed for total relaxation.  Completing the cockpit is a generous chaise longue to port side and an outdoor Lshaped galley behind the helm station opposite.  The soft top allows for easy management of light and summer heat, combining the comfort of the sliding roof with the possibility of an almost complete opened cockpit. Below deck, the ParanĂ¡ 40 reveals spaces tailored for a discerning owner: two full-beam cabins, two bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen with a convertible dinette, and large windows that flood every corner with natural light.  The Rio Parana 40 is powered by twin Yanmar 370hp with stern drive dual propeller propulsion.

Project: Galeon 430 Explorer

Galeon presents the project for the 430 Explorer, an explorer cruiser which presents a new range and sets an un-edited course for the Polish motor cruiser and yacht builder.  Galeon is being secretive on this new course, and no designer is mentioned, with this 430 Exp set to be unveiled at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival in a couple of weeks. What is known is that the Galeon 430 Explorer will feature tug boat looks with a stand out feature being is that it is an asymmetric design; full body to port side and side deck to starboard. The lower cabin helm station is located further forward to the length, while the stern also features an open layout which expands size with the drop down bulk-head to balcony at starboard, showing that sunny climate boaters are the main target for the 430 Explorer.  The Galeon 430 Explorer will offer a two cabins lower deck, with a single head, and an utility room.  Power will come from twin 480hp.

Project: Sanlorenzo SL110 Asymmetric

Sanlorenzo presents the SL110 Asymmetric, the latest evolution of the shipyard's famous asymmetrical motor yacht line. The SL110A introduces a new architectural vision to the world of yachting, combining structural elegance and innovation combined with spacious interiors, flooded with natural light that blend seamlessly with the exteriors, offering a unique sailing experience that establishes an even deeper connection with the sea. The result of a collaboration between Sanlorenzo, Zuccon International Project for the exterior design, and Piero Lissoni with Lissoni and Partners for the interiors, the SL110A is the perfect synthesis of authentic design, functionality, comfort, and performance, with a speed of up to 27 knots from the large of two MTU engine choices.  As the latest evolution of the brand’s acclaimed asymmetrical line, it reimagines what a 33-metre super yacht can be, offering expanded light-filled interiors, seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and a deeper connection to the sea. Debuting at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival the coming September, the SL110A is a super yacht for owners who demand beauty without compromise, and versatility with vision. SL110A marks the culmination of a design journey that began with the SL102A in 2018 and evolved through the SL106A which this model replaces. Its elegant, timeless lines and carefully reduced stylistic elements create a refined profile that transcends trends. Subtle asymmetry enhances visual harmony while also unlocking more liveable interior volume. A technical innovation staggered gangways on the starboard and port sides allows the gangway area to be absorbed into the interior layout, further increasing spaciousness and comfort. The reimagined bow, developed with Lissoni and Partners, eliminates the typical aerodynamic “bonnet” in favour of a true sea-facing terrace, complete with integrated sofas and a swimming pool. The result is a minimalist yet elegant retreat, optimised for liveability and connection with the water.  A hidden hatch cleverly conceals the mooring area, ensuring cleaner lines and improved usability. The stern continues the design narrative, with references to the SL86A as launched in 2024. A transparent gunwale creates a seamless connection between cockpit and sea, while the pivoting beach platform reveals a garage for both tender and jet ski. Retractable stairs and gangways preserve the yacht’s clean silhouette. The versatile outdoor lounge on the main deck can shift from sunbathing to dining without fixed configurations, underscoring the yacht’s flexibility. The interior architecture of the SL110A is conceived as a continuation of the exterior experience. Large windows, retractable bulwarks, and sliding gunwales allow light and air to pour in, dissolving boundaries and enhancing the sensation of space. Guests can enjoy a lounge that opens onto the sea via a drop-down terrace, creating an expansive, immersive environment. It is this fusion with the exterior environment that enhances the experience of the owner and his guests, allowing ample breathing space in an interplay between the interior and the sea. To make this feature explicit there is a solution designed when the boat is at anchor: on the starboard side it is in fact possible to pull down the bulwark and thus open up a terrace overlooking the sea. The same effect is recreated by the gunwale that slides downwards, widening the window below to allow guests to fully enjoy the outside environment, being closer to the sea. At the heart of the SL110A lies the wide-body, full-beam owner’s suite conceived as a true sanctuary. It provides panoramic sea views, total privacy, and direct access to the foredeck pool. A private entry connects the master cabin with the bow and upper decks, allowing the owner to enjoy separation while staying connected with every corner of the yacht. This intelligent use of space elevates comfort and intimacy at sea. Below deck are four guest cabins; two VIP, two convertible twin/double and generous crew quarters with three cabins, six berths, and a separate mess to ensure operational privacy. The mezzanine housing the wheelhouse provides direct access to a flybridge offering the flexibility to create a sunbathing lounge, al fresco dining area, or private retreat with direct access to the pool. Dark wood panelling, coffered ceilings with resin finishes, herringbone patterns, and stone-effect materials define the yacht’s refined interior atmosphere. The owner’s bathroom is finished in luxurious Calacatta marble. The SL110A is more than a yacht it is a design statement, from the sculpted asymmetry that expands space and light, to the seamless interplay between interior and exterior, it redefines the relationship between form and function.

New Model: Ferretti 800

The first unit of the brand new Ferretti Yachts 800 was launched last July 18 at the Cattolica shipyard. The second generation Ferretti 800 completes the range renewal process begun in 2018 with the 670 as Filippo Salvetti now signs all the models of the range. The 800 also replaces the 780, the last of the seventeen years Zuccon design Ferretti yacht.  With an overall length of over 24 meters, with a version featuring a short swim platform available to comply with the 24-metre limit established by French law, the Ferretti 800 is the result of the Filippo Salvetti stylistic evolution for the exteriors and the Ideaeitalia team for the interiors, Ferretti Yachts 800 is designed to offer the owner peerless comfort and a superior on-board lifestyle, thanks to optimised spaces and meticulous layout planning. The most innovative features include large windows for uninterrupted views of the surroundings from the interiors, perfectly separated spaces to ensure total privacy, and optimisation of the exterior surfaces. Starting on the main deck, the seven-square-metre beach area is aft, with a cockpit featuring a spectacular glass parapet designed to extend the view outside and towards the beach club. The crew area, with three separate cabins is accessed from the port side walkway. Continuing through the interiors, the salon is bathed in light thanks to extensive glazing which offers uninterrupted views of the surroundings. The interior dĂ©cor of the unit launched is in the Classic mood, which taps into warm, earthy elements with a layout featuring a corner sofa facing a storage unit and slide-out TV. The generous interiors are enhanced by the two-metre-high ceilings. Moving past the living space, the dining area contains an elegant table and the fully appointed and separate galley is directly connected to it through a sliding section of the bulkhead. Separate walkways allow the crew to enter the galley from the outdoor area and then access the wheelhouse without interfering with guest flows. The helm station can also be accessed from the hallway. The exterior living area forward features a sunbed and a forward-facing C-shaped sofa designed for comfort. On the lower deck, the sleeping area consists of a master suite, a VIP cabin forward and two guest cabins, providing a total of eight berths. All four cabins have private en suite bathrooms. The flybridge also stands out for its above average surface area of 40 m2. The al fresco dining area on the starboard side features a table and a fibreglass sofa with a large storage compartment incorporated underneath it. A bar unit on the port side can be paired with optional stools. A spacious area aft is furnished with freestanding elements including poufs and sofas. The helm station at the bow is fitted with ergonomic seats and offers excellent visibility.
