New Model: Windy SR40

Windy present the new SR40 as designed by Espen Oino for exterior and Design Unlimited for interior.  The all new SR40 will be the third model in Windy's SR Sports Boat Line and represents the sixth novelty introduced in the past three years by the famous Norwegian boat builder.  The SR40 is a center console walk-around, but thanks to the enclosed or transform open of the central lounging area, offers a rare to find all weather protection and usage in the genre which is hard to find.  I can only think of the slightly bigger Bluegame BG42 with inboard engines and a similar enclosed protected central helm dinette area outside, and if you go outboards you can also add the Axopar, XO and similar boats.  The Windy SR40 thought has a feature which the competition does not have, and that is disappearing sliding doors, which open and change it an enclosed to a more open area.  The Windy SR40 can also be specified with drop down bulk-heads which extend the area around the sun-pad and bathing platform, doubling the beach club area.  The interior of the SR40 is that of a weekender and features a V-shaped lounge which can transform to a double, and a shower head to starboard.  The outboard version also features a never seen cool option were by the aft sun-pad lifts up and offers a second double berth protected with Eisen glass canopies, in what would be the engine room of the inboard version.  The Windy SR40 is powered by twin Volvo 440hp with stern drive propulsion for top speeds up to 42 knots, with the outboard version offered with twin Mercury 600hp or triple 400hp for speeds up to fifty and 52 knots respectively.

Dalla Pieta New Web Site

Dalla Pieta from Venice, Italy presents its new World wide web showroom.  Dalla Pieta was started in 1949 when Bepi Dalla Pieta builds his first boat, but it will be ten years later to this when the first establishment is opened on the Giudecca island in Venice.  The first builds of Bepi Dalla Pieta are outboard sport boats from four to seven meters named; Rio, Laguna, and Ionio and these are soon followed by other inboard models; Adriatico, Tirreno, and Pacifico.  Thanks to its Hunt inspired deep Vee hulls various Dalla Pieta models have success in many competitions and soon the name is associated with good sea keeping, so the company launches the revolutionary Manta a boat fully dedicated to racing.  In the seventies Dalla Pieta due to more clients demand moves its premises to Marghera where it can build larger craft up to fourteen meters.  In the eighties comes the transfer of ownership to the sons of Bepi; Gianni and Giorgio who expand to a new production facility in Fusina-Malcontenta in 1987, switching all production to fiberglass, following the debut of the DP6 in 1986, which is followed with the the 28 and 37 Altair sport cruisers.  This is followed by the 43, the 52 Asterion flybridge motor yacht, and the very revolutionary for the early nineties 43 and 55 Al Na'Ir fully enclosed hard top models.  Both the Al Na'Ir featured a patio door and an opening canopy capsule style hard top which was ahead of its time.  In 2000 Andrea Mevorach buys Dalla Pieta, and brings important organizational changes with Michele Cazzanti head of the company sided along Giorgio, and engineer Fausto Colombi coming from Riva and Sarnico yards taking responsibility of building. This new energy gives huge growth to Dalla Pieta in the period 2002 to 2007, stopped only as the 2008 Big Recession hits the World and the yachting sector at the fall of that year.  In 2010 following a period under administration Dalla Pieta is purchased by Jian Yong Zhu and Millennium Marine company who gives the helm to Franco Nocera and Giovan Battista Penzo, both part of the Venice brand recent history, with this experience lasting about five years, as the Chinese ownership seems confused.  In 2022 Giorgio Dalla Pieta along with other investors from the Veneto region buys back the Dalla Pieta name in 2022.  Today Dalla Pieta offers three sport yacht models, all in project stages from fifteen to 26 meters; and start with the DP 50 HT Re-Evoluzione and go to the DP 86 HT Re-Evoluzione.  Dalla Pieta new web site is available in Italian and English language and takes you around with the following buttons; Home, Mission, Yachts, Refitting, and About.

Project: Sanlorenzo SX120

Sanlorenzo presents the SX120 project, the largest-ever yacht in the Italian SX crossover range, as designed by Zuccon with interiors by Piero Lissoni.  Sanlorenzo's SX crossover explorer line has been a huge success for the World famous Italian brand, a range which debuted with the SX88 as designed by Mauro Micheli in 2017, with this followed by the smaller SX76 and to date has sold in over 160 hulls for four different models from 23 to 33 meters.  This new big SX120 is to be a replacement of the SX112 which in a five years production has sold in sixteen hulls, and is to add some unedited features which appear for the first time in the range.  The big news is that it will use the new Volvo professional set up, of two engines per pod drive, by what is understood is that she is the first yacht to be commercialized with this propulsion which was announced by the Swedish engine maker at the Dusseldorf boat show of 2024.  The real unique traits of the SX120 though and helped by its 35 meters of length, will be a master stateroom on the forward deck, and a top fourth deck with free moving furniture, what Sanlorenzo calls the Sun Deck.  For the rest the SX120 builds on the features of the previous smaller SX's, from drop down bulk-heads which extend the size of the largest aft deck probably in the category with Sanlorenzo debuting these in 2023 with the SX100, to the lounge which serves the aft cockpit this presented on the SX112 and was then followed again on the SX100.  The first SX120 is I believe nearly completed with the first unit set to debut at the Cannes yachting festival.

Sea Ray Cruiser Ends Aground in Livingston Channel, Michigan

A Sea Ray sport cruiser of ten meters in length ended beached near Grosse Ile, Michigan on the Livingston Channel on the evening of Thursday 24 July.  A navigational error caused the incident for a story shared by Instagram user Havensgeoff and then re-shared by the TheQualifiedCaptain.  The amount of people on the Sea Ray cruiser and who assisted in the aftermath is not reported.  The Sea Ray cruiser had its name covered, with the damage looking to be not so big, also because the Sea Ray beached itself of what looks to be soft ground.
The Sea Ray in this beaching is a second generation 330 Sundancer as produced from 1995 to 1999.  The 330 Sundancer was a replacement to the first generation 330 Sundancer, and was replaced by the second generation Sea Ray 340 Sundancer.
