One Man Rescued from Burning Boat in Elliot Bay Near Seattle

One man was rescued as a twelve meter explorer type cruiser went ablaze to the vicinity of Duwamish Head Light in Elliot Bay, West Seattle, Washington on 12:00 of Sunday ninth December.  The man was rescued by a nearby boat, as two US Coast Guards rescue crews came to the scene to fight the fire, and where followed by the Seattle Fire boat 3.   The fire was extinguished in about thirty minutes as ultimately the boat was wrecked with the blaze, with its remaining shell towed to Fourmile Rock.  Unfortunately though the boat sank before arriving in that desired spot and was surrounded by a protection boon, in order to avoid pollution from its one thousand litres of diesel fuel.  The man had no injuries and also refused a medical check up.  The cause of the fire is under investigation, with a plan to remove the diesel fuel and salvage the wreck being organized.
The explorer type cruiser in this fire looks to be a Marine Trader 40 Europa as produced from 1978 to 1986.

New Model: Princess S65

Princess has in Summer 2024 launched the new second generation S65, a replacement to the S66 on which is in reality a soft improvement.  The new S65 uses the same hull Princess introduced with the first S65 in 2015, and since then used on five different but similar models in nine years, including of which is the outgoing S66 and the upcoming fourth generation V65.  Interestingly while the new S65 features a smaller model designation it its in reality a bit longer to the outgoing S66. Outside the new S65 is recognizable thanks to the large hull glazing which spans nearly for all the hull length, but also the sport bridge is distinctively different with a lower profile radar arch. Inside the lower and main deck are near identical in layout to the outgoing S66, with some soft changes like the L-shaped dinette now curved and the entertainment unit which features a different shape.  For the exterior the differences come on the fore deck which now features two sun-pads with a central corridor forward of the C-shaped settee, and the flybridge which now has a bigger dinette located to starboard with a wet-bar located aft of the bridge.  The Princess S65 is powered by twin Man 1400hp for top speed up to 36 knots.

New Model: Baia Atlantica 84

Some names never die, and Baia is one of those that thanks to its unrivalled and substantive historic past of fast cruisers and yachts, which also happened to win important races with production models like the Venezia to Monte Carlo in 1990, and the Viareggio-Montecarlo-Viareggio twice in 2007 and 2008.  Baia returns with this 25 meter super sport yacht Atlantica 84, an evolution of the 78 Atlantica which debuted in 2003, on which its hull lines are based, but is that bit longer and wider for that extra space.  Designed by Carlo Galeazzi, Baia's designer from the nineties onwards and designer of the previous 78, the 84 Atlantica shows its origins looked from the stern, a bit less so in super structure and the fore deck, which is more space conscious and less sleek to its fore bearers, and features the today must have C-shaped lounge, with two side sun-pads on the fore-deck.  Yes sadly the Baia flush fore-deck is not here on the new bigger Atlantica!  Down below the Atlantica 84 offers a four cabins four head layout, with a double access galley located forward, with direct entry from the forward located two crew cabins, and or from the guests cabin area corridor.  The main deck is a full on lounging and chilling area connected with the aft deck via the patio door which disappears in the floor when fully open, and also features an eight persons central dinning area just located behind the three settee helm station further forward.  As exterior spaces go the Atlantica 84 will also offer a mini sport bridge up top with a J-shaped settee and a private sun-pad.  The Baia Atlantica 84 is powered by twin MTU 2638hp with Arneson surface drives for top speeds up to 52 knots and a cruise of 45.

Project: Scanner SuperOcean 50

Scanner present the project for the SuperOcean 50, a project as designed by company boss Montemitro.  The 50 follows the SuperOcean 58 which debuted in 2017, as a joint cooperation between the Italian yacht builder and a French yacht brokerage company.  Initially announced as the SuperOcean 48, the SuperOcean 50 will feature similar styling to the bigger sister with a more conservative straight shear line replacing the aggressive S-line used in the 58.  The SuperOcean 50 is more a boat with protective rubber padding, rather then a pure rib with big floating tubes.   Rendering on the Scanner web site show the SuperOcean 50 will feature an open cabin layout below deck, with a double berth forward, L-shaped dinette and galley to port side with opposite shower head, and twin berths at midships.  Outside the SuperOcean 50 presents fore to aft deck spaces in a layout which becomes a walk around deck from the T-Top cover console.  The Scanner SuperOcean 50 can be powered for engines up to 1600hp, with no details of set up and performances yet provided.
