Ferretti Super Yacht Destroyed by Fire in Makarska Croatia

A 34 meter Ferretti Custom Line super yacht titled m/y Acceptus with Malta flag was destroyed by a fire in Makarska, Croatia on the night between Friday 28 and Saturday 29 June.  The fire started at 23:10 hours with the yacht having at the time three crew members onboard.  The fire was reported as starting from the stern with the Public Fire Brigade Makarska and police officers, who secured the land access to the fire site, and a maritime firefighting unit of the Public Fire Brigade JVP Kaštela fighting the fire for four hours with fifteen units.  When the fire was extinguished the yacht partly sank and listed to its starboard side.
Acceptus is reported to be owned by Croatian entrepreneur Mišel Čolak and used to charter at 90,000 euros a week, and the morning before the incident had six guests depart.  The yacht was also refitted in 2023.
Acceptus is a Ferretti Custom Line 112 Next from 2011 to a design of Giovanni Zuccon.  The Custom Line 112 Next came out as an evolution of the standard 112 which debuted in 2001, and was produced from 2008 till 2013 in twelve units.

New Model: Columbus Atlantique 43m

Columbus are delighted to announce that, following its official delivery of Atlantique 43 M/Y Night Fury II has set sail. The first of three constructions belonging to the Atlantique line due for delivery this summer, steel and aluminium M/Y Night Fury II will be exhibited at the next Monaco Yacht Show 2024. With a volume of 462 GT, exterior and interior design are courtesy of Hot Lab studio and they depict the “Architecture for Voyagers” fundamentals: a balanced combination of stylistic, design and functional elements devoted to the full enjoyment of every single moment spent out at sea. The naval engineering was devised by Palumbo Superyachts in collaboration with the Hydro Tec studio. The sailing-yacht style stern of Atlantique 43m is perhaps its most distinctive feature. This area features a central swimming pool surrounded by a C-shape seat facing astern. The transom is very low on the water; with the choice for the aft section to lower to just 50cm above sea level, which combined with the addition of two lateral folding side wings enhances the feeling of direct contact with the sea. The lower deck is endowed with four double cabins; two VIP with private bathroom along the sides and two twins. The forward area of the lower deck is dedicated to the crew and it houses four double cabins, all with bathroom, the crew mess and the laundry. The captain cabin is next to the wheelhouse. The 5.5m tender is at the stern with a garage on the starboard side. The main deck forward has been arranged so as to house both the second tender (rescue boat) and two jet skis. Exumas Night Storm Beaches an Azimut and Sea Ray Yacht

A night storm with wind speeds over forty knots which struck the Exumas, the Bahamas just after 23:30 hours of Thursday 27 June, beached a 25 meter Azimut super yacht, an eighteen meter Sea Ray yacht, a rib, and a couple of jet skis.  Video footage from the helm of a Lazzara super yacht shared on social media by its captain Pascal Gademer shows as two Sea Ray sport yachts pass forward, drifting and dragging anchor as the sudden announced storm creates mayhem in this partly protected bay at Staniel Cay.  Pascal's super yacht actually avoids these drifting yachts with engines and thrusters, as they pass very close by.  The Sea Ray sport yacht is reported to have sheared one of its pod drives and probably has some hull damage to account for.  The Azimut super yacht grounded in Little Farmers Bay further South.  No injuries to persons are being reported.
The Sea Ray yacht in the grounding is an L590 as produced from 2015 to 19.  Sea Ray introduced its L yacht series in 2014 with the L650 Fly, a Euro looking line up of yachts to compete with European exports but with US amenities.  Ultimately the L series offered five models from 55 to 65 foot with Sea Ray stopping the production in 2019.
While the grounded pictured Azimut is a Magellano 25 Metri, a model which debuted in 2020 to a design of Ken Freivokh, with naval architecture by Pierluigi Ausonio, and has so far been delivered in twenty units.

Project: Palm Beach PB85

Representing nearly three decades of innovative Palm Beach Motor Yachts design and construction, the PB85 is set to become the new flagship of the renowned global yacht brand.  Entering the Superyacht realm is a natural progression for Palm Beach Motor Yachts, the acclaimed builder established by ocean-racing champion and performance yacht builder, Mark Richards.  Since its founding in 1995, Palm Beach Motor Yachts has garnered international recognition and a devoted following among enthusiasts of technologically advanced, meticulously designed and built, high-performance motor yachts. They are becoming increasingly known for their impressive fuel efficiency and range, consuming less fuel than other yachts in their class.  The Palm Beach PB85 is designed to be available in three exterior versions; Sedan, Extended Flybridge as pictured above, and Skylounge choices.  The interior of the PB85 will offer an upper galley layout, with this getting more space in the Skylounge option as this version does not feature a main deck helm station.  Lower deck accommodation is for three double cabins forward, with two cabins for crew located at midships located in between the engine room and fuel tanks.  The Palm Beach PB85 is to be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives and or twin Man 1300hp on line shafts with top speeds up to 26 and 27 knots respectively.  As is usual for Palm Beach the PB85 is whisker light weighing at just 43 tons unloaded, and thanks to this able to give an impressive 700 nautical mile range at 21 knots with the Volvo set up.  Give or take this would be about 8% more with the shafts set up, which is still an impressive number.

New Model: Holterman X-78 Fly

Holterman has launched the second hull of its X-78 model, with this new unit being the Fly for flybridge version and set to go in the Mediterranean sea.  The first Holterman X-78 Fly was finalized ahead of delivery to a highly experienced owner, and is another addition to the groundbreaking Xtreme series line-up from Dutch shipyard Holterman. Drawing on the technical and construction prowess of Holterman, the X-78 Fly is designed by Bernd Weel, and features interiors by Kitty van der Kamp, and naval architecture by Sea Level and Diana. The owner was also integral part of the design and build with him input coming at every before and during construction stage.  With X-78 Fly, Holterman Xtreme series which launched to universal acclaim with the award-winning X-105 in 2022 is here to stay bringing ever a growing stable of thoroughbred luxury yachts and super yachts. Holterman’s philosophy in developing the X-78 Fly was simple but multi-faceted, take the X-78 Sport, a non-flybridge variant that was built for and delivered to an owner who wanted the best yacht he could get for cruising the confines of the Dutch canals, and elevate it literally to the next level with the addition of the perfect flybridge. The genius lay in the development of the X-78 Sport specifically to include a future Fly variant, using the same aluminum hull and superstructure, advanced engineering platform and lower and main deck layouts for efficiency but adding the Fly to create the ultimate boat for the Med and beyond.

New Model: Azimut Seadeck 6

When Azimut enters a genre or invents a new one it is always revolutionary!  So when the Seadeck line of eco-friendly and eco-conscious yachts was announced in early 2023 it looked from the beginning that the yachting sector was up for an innovative shake-down experience.  The Seadeck line is Azimut's most eco-friendly series to date which promises a 40% reduction of emissions in a year of usage, a huge result considering that the Italian yacht builder has been going eco-conscious since 2012 and the debut of its 55S model.  The 6 as all following Seadeck's are a mild or optional full hybrid planning sport yacht, which takes eco-friendly yachting into its next step in a long journey ahead.  But as usual for Azimut the criteria has to meet the purpose so designer Alberto Mancini was instructed to bring a new style yacht giving with a mix of exploration and sporty details which give best of use, while a new hull shape by NAMES which features a sharp entry promises reduced consumption at all speeds, and re-thinking of the construction and finishing materials used.  That is why the Azimut Seadeck 6 uses cork as replacement to teak for its deck, and carpets are made of re-purposed raw materials, with the same thing being done to 30% of the yachts skeleton. The Azimut Seadeck 6 debuted in mid-April first during the Milano Design Week 2024, with its official showing coming in end May at the always growing Venice boat show.  The first Seadeck 6 is fitted with the mild-hybrid zero emissions hotel mode, a 42 kwh lithium battery pack which will give up to eight hours of silent generator-free boating, with a full hybrid system of which the yacht is ready to embrace coming before the end of the year.  The Azimut Seadeck 6 is not yachting re-invented, more repurposed to be one of the most environmental clean and innovative yachts in the market today, which will entice buyers mostly with its expandable outdoor areas, like its drop down bulk heads which extend exterior spaces in a different way to yachts of similar size.  Look at it and then you see that it is actually a beach club from a forty meter super yacht, but fitted to a seventeen meters.
