Project: Benetti Oasis 34m

Benetti present the project for a new Oasis 34m fibreglass superyacht.  A private oasis on the water, she brings together all the glamour of the Oasis Deck solution, designed to experience the outdoor space as never before, in a length of just 34 metres. With Oasis 34m, Benetti satisfies the desire for close contact with the water and a dynamic and informal lifestyle on board, enhanced by chic touches. The starting point for the design is the Oasis deck and its five signature features: two wings that open out on either side; an incorporated infinity pool with a glass side wall, surrounded by a sunbathing and lounging area; a 270-degree view aft, uninterrupted by railings and sofas; seamless interconnection with the interior space for a mix of sun and shade, ensuring the entire Main deck can be enjoyed at any time of day and, finally, a social design that frames the whole deck as one big oasis of glamour and social interaction. Like her big forty meter sister, the yacht’s exterior styling is the work of UK firm RWD and the interiors are by Bonetti and Kozerski, the New York based architects specialising in residential and hotel projects, chosen by the shipyard for their international and cosmopolitan approach to design that values the aesthetics of discrete luxury. The exterior design is defined by solutions as exclusive as they are distinctive: in addition to the Oasis deck, the yacht has an elegant vertical bow and a sleek outline that slopes gently down to the water, broken only by the wheelhouse with its vertical windscreen; the floor-to-ceiling windows form part of the overall design, alternating with the counter-curved hull features to create a harmonious whole. The grilles in the hull walls and the silver trim highlighting the design of the side windows are stylistic references to car design and give the yacht a very contemporary aesthetic with a hint of sportiness. With her formal elegance, Oasis 34m has the right proportions to balance the three decks, the large Sun Deck with hard top, and the multiple outdoor areas. Unobtrusive stairways provide access to all the decks, freeing up the stern terraces for unfettered visual contact with the water. The interiors connect seamlessly with the stern terraces: two curved sliding doors open out onto to the main deck living area and disappear out of view to create one big open space. The spacious full lounge living area is defined by sofas whose flowing contours give the décor a modern and informal personality, while the dining area is located in the sky lounge on the upper deck. The settings created by Bonetti Kozerski have a casual feel and are all permeated by the recurring leitmotif of spatial fluidity, which can be seen in the shape of the furniture and in detailing that features a circular design reminiscent of ocean waves. Two circular sofas echo the curved lines of the glazing and are an invitation to relax in the interior living area, while the forward wall of the salon is made up of a linear bookcase. A pleasing and apparent simplicity of style reigns throughout, conveyed by the use of only a few high-end materials and the choice of a colour palette limited to only a few shades. The narrow-plank teak on the exterior decks strikes up a conversation with the wood flooring on the main and upper decks, where a lighter shade is used to make the settings seem brighter. The furnishings and bulkheads are finished in pale oak to let the side windows and their unparalleled views of the sea play the starring role. The owner’s suite, with full-height windows in a pared down but sophisticated style, occupies the entire forward section of the main deck and can be fitted with a terrace that opens out on the starboard side. The bed seems to float in space, supported by the aft wall acting not only as a bed head but also as a partition delimiting the full-beam bathroom, which is entered via dressing areas on both sides. The sky lounge on the Upper Deck is home to the dining area. Served by a convenient pantry, it is linked by a dumb waiter to the galley on the main deck and opens out onto a stern terrace furnished with sofas and armchairs. Another outdoor dining area is located on the sundeck. The lower deck for guest accommodation has two VIP and two twin cabins. The service and crew areas are distributed for maximum functionality, with the galley and main pantry on the main deck and the captain’s cabin on the upper Deck. Three crew cabins and the crew mess are on the lower deck. The wheelhouse is a high-tech helm station with vertical floor-to-ceiling glazing ensuring maximum visibility. The modern design of the console facilitates instrumentation use by the captain and conveys the beauty of cruising to guests and crew. Like all Benetti yachts, the spaces can be configured according to the owner’s desires. Other layout options relocate the interior dining area onto the main deck, freeing up the sky lounge for use as a multifunctional space that becomes a cinema with TV screens and a gym with fitness equipment. In the bow, the sun pad conceals a compartment for a jet ski, while the garage for a  five metre tender is located in an unobtrusive position on the side of the boat, ensuring that the Oasis deck can be used without compromise.

Project: Galeon 800 Fly

Galeon present the project for a new 800 Fly flagship model, designed by Tony Castro, it will be the Polish builder second try of proposing a super yacht above 24 meters, following the 820 Skydeck project proposed in 2013 and as to what I know never launched.  Previous to this Galeon largest model was the 780 Crystal launched in 2011.  With the 800 Fly British designer Tony Castro combines a sporty silhouette and impressive performance and a sense of space and luxury, with a subtle design that is noticeable at first glance, expressed in soft lines and rounded structural elements. Moreover, advanced navigation electronics and the latest technologies used on this fourth generation yacht ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. Structure elements made of carbon fibre allowed to increase the surface of the upper deck, so it can offer a double helmsman’s position, fully equipped bar, a comfortable sunbathing area, four tables that can be adapted to the needs of guests, but also two separate, huge, semi-circular sofas between which is a jacuzzi. On the main deck the interiors bring to mind the best apartments, with a richly equipped galley in an island format. Further forward is a double helmsman’s station with an offset comfortable sofa with coffee table, and next to it is the dinette for eight persons. The living area offers, apart from elegant sofas that tempt you to spend a longer time comfortably on them, also unusually large windows, a pull-out TV, a modern bar and a separate day toilet. The stern lounging area will impress everyone, as it not only offers plenty of seating, but also plenty of headroom. The whole is complemented by tailor-made upholstery, a hand-laid teak deck, comfortable armchairs and a wooden table. To aft is a well sized hydraulic platform that can carry a ton of equipment. Lower deck offers four cabins all with en suite bathrooms. Each of the bathrooms has a separate dry zone, is richly decorated, has access to natural light and impresses with stainless steel refined by hand Galeon made details. Amidships is the master stateroom with a huge double bed located centrally and a walk-in wardrobe next to it. To bow will be the VIP suite with an impressive double bed, from which you do not need to move to admire the stars at night, thanks to the giant glazing overhead. Between the VIP and master cabin there are two guest cabins; each with two separate beds that can be combined into one. The crew will appreciate the comfortable cabin at the stern of the yacht, the entrance to which is discreetly hidden behind guest sofas. Inside there are two beds separated by a sliding door, a private bathroom, wardrobe, kitchenette and a comfortable sofa with a folding table.  The Galeon 800 Fly can be powered by twin Man or MTU engines from 1650hp up to 1920hp.

New Model: Sealine S430

It is very annoying from Sealine that in the website, a new model will still show renders of a boat, even if this has launched new over a year ago, and so to get a real feel of the new Sealine I had to go and look for photos from brokerage sites or copy paste from a video. Rant over, but this is really annoying and has been happening at Sealine for quite some time! The new Sealine S430, is the Sport version of the 430 platform also available in F for Flybridge or C for Coupe fully enclosed hardtop. The Sealine S430 offers the most exterior spaces and offers a large C-shaped dinette which splits to become two L-shaped lounge sofas. To the forward of the cockpit is a helm station to starboard, while to port is twin companion-way settee. Below the deck the Sealine S430 offers a two cabins layout sleeping five with an option to replace the third birth in the midships cabin to a second en-suite head serving the guest cabin. Another option is to have the forward double berth with a scissor movement which splits the berth to twins.

Project: Fairline Phantom 65

Fairline present the Phantom 65 project, a sport bridge yacht of nineteen meters in length based on the platform of the Targa 65 and Squadron 68 flagship models.  Most interesting is that this project returns the Phantom model series name, albeit in a different dress to what it was in the past. A brief history of the Phantom model series which first appeared in 1974 with the raised bridge 32, and then returning in 1990 with the 41 which at the time was the third largest model in the range, and then becoming from 1994 till 2009 the entry level flybridge motor cruiser range.  The Phantom was a successful range, going up in size to a 50 model produced from 2002 to 2009, with its prettiest being the 46 which sold around two hundred units in a production run which lasted eight years. In 2009 Fairline scraped the Phantom model name marking all new flybridge boats from there onward as Squadron, something which stays as at today. Enters the sport bridge type of Sport Yachts, and Fairline clean off the Phantom name for this 65, what will be its second largest model in the current line up.  The Fairline Phantom 65 will have a main deck layout with astern galley, while four lower deck layouts are available; with the standard being a three ensuited cabins plus a day head layout. Two other options differ on the three cabin layouts, both of which lose the fourth day head; one of which offers a larger VIP suite forward, and an other option offering an utility room. The last fourth option is for a four cabins layout. A single berth crew cabin is located aft to starboard.  The Fairline Phantom 65 will be standard powered by Cats 1150hp good for 31 knots top speed, and or optional 1622hp engines which makes top end go up to 35 knots.

Flybridge Cruiser Burns in Lavagna

A Ferretti flybridge cruiser of twelve meters in length went ablaze while in its mooring in Lavagna marina, to the South East of Genova in Italy at around 1430 hours of 22 January.  A fast call and immediate moving to the Ferretti cruiser from its berth to the under wing of the Eastern Lavagna marina break water caused no damage to any other boats.  With four fire fighting squads, including additional teams from nearby Chiavari and Santa Margherita saved the Ferretti cruiser from going total ablaze and becoming a total loss, with pump assistance saving it from sinking.  The cause of the fire is not reported.
This Ferretti is a 39 Altura as designed by Ferretti first generation designer Antocio Pusceddu and produced from 1989 till 1993 in 71 units.  Replacing the 40 Altura which launched in 1986, the Ferretti 39 Altura came on the hull lines of the 40 Roadster an innovative fully enclosed hard-top cruiser which launched a year before in 1988, and was replaced by the 120 Fly in 1993.
