Botnia Targa New Web Site

Botnia Targa from Finland presents its new World wide web showroom.  Botnia Targa was founded 1976 by Johan and Britt-Marie Carpelan with boat production starting in 1977 with an employment of ten persons, and the Malax production site in South Vasa.  Production site will expand twice over the years with Botnia purchasing the Sunwind 4000 sqm yard in Nykarleby in 1997 and a facility expansion happening again in 2006.  Botnia employments have also risen over time reaching the one hundred mark in 2000, and two hundred plus in 2007. The first boat models that Botnia builds are an H-series sail boat and the 23 launch type, both stating production in 1977.  The 23 will eventually sell 650 units in a fourteen years production run lasting till 1991, this beaten by the H-boat in 2003 when it builds the 1000 hull, and stopping at number 1005 of the same year. In 1984 Botnia does a big break through for its future when buying production rights of the Targa series and 25 model.  The second Targa model will come five years later with the 29  presented in 1989.  The Botnia Targa will continue to expand ever since with new models launching each other year and producing the 1000 Targa model in 2003.  During the nineties period Botnia Targa also wins important contracts over Europe and beyond; 1996 it supplies Police boats to both Norway and Finnish authorities, 1997 the London Metropolitan police and taxi sight seeing boats in Greenland.  Botnia Targa has also won numerous prices over the years; 1999 Targa 30 model wins Motorboat of the Show at the Helsinki boat show, 2003 Targa 27.1 wins Motorboat of the Show at the Stockholm Scandinavian boat show, 2005 Targa 42 Motorboat of the Show, 2007 Targa 31 Motorboat of the Year by Motorboat and Yachting and Motorboat Monthly in the Wheelhouse and Walkaround class, with the Targa 44 and Targa 32 again winning the same award in 2009 and 2012 respectively.  Today Botnia Targa offers a range of eight models which start with the 23.1 and go up to the 44 flagship model.  Botnia newest model is the 30.1 launched in the second half of 2016.  Botnia Targa new website takes you around with the following buttons; Boats, The Pioneer, Boatshows, News, Store, and Contact.

Project: Sirena 85

Sirena present the project for an 85 model, what is an anticipated and future flagship of the new Turkish boat builder range which has in its first year already launched the 56 and 64 models.  The Sirena 85 project connects a family feeling with the smaller 56 and 64 models being designed for the exterior by German Frers.  While for the interior design duties have changed to dutch architect Cor D.Rover, taking over from Spadolini who designed the 56 and 64 layouts.  For the exterior German Frers went for a streamlined two and half deck raised pilot house modern design, with a semi wide body fore-ship.  In the interior Cor D.Rover offers two different layouts with five or four cabins and both having the owner stateroom forward of the main deck.  Worth a note here is the connection the owners cabin will have to the upper part of fore deck and a private access to the Jacuzzi located in this area.  The Sirena 85 has a projected top speed of 26 knots, and at a cruising speed of ten knots should cover an estimated range of two thousand nautical miles.

Propulsion: Volvo IPS30

Volvo Penta has augmented its Inboard Performance System IPS pod design, to match the class-leading performance of its latest and most powerful diesel engine the new D13-1000.  The remodeled IPS pod drive by Volvo Penta named IPS30 sees new and upgraded features to complement the company’s latest 13-liter 1000hp engine, to provide world-class performance. The redesigned pod is part of the company’s exciting breakthrough into a higher power category for its marine leisure segment, enabling yachts of up to 120ft to benefit from its excellent capabilities. The IPS30 pod has been updated to ensure it is a perfect match for the new design of the D13 engine. Overall, these enhancements make the pod cleaner, tougher, able to handle a wide speed range, while retaining the compact dimensions of existing IPS drives.  The IPS30 pod and its co-ordination with the 13-liter engine sees the production of the D13-IPS1350 integrated package; the 1350 refers to the equivalent amount of horsepower produced from the unit, when compared to a traditional inboard shaft engine installation. The package is a complete system from helm to prop, with a technologically advanced design that has twin counter-rotating forward-facing propellers that sit below the hull for enhanced grip. The unique design, with individually steerable pods that are linked to the on-board Joystick Docking function, creates precision maneuverability.  The IPS package provides up to 30 per cent lower fuel consumption compared to inboard shaft installations up to 15 per cent faster acceleration and 20 per cent higher top speed; noise and vibration levels are reduced by up to 50 per cent. An IPS package can be installed in twin, triple or quadruple configuration, and of the latter, the power produced is equivalent to 5400hp.
