New Model: Cabo 40 Hardtop Express

Preparing itself for the upcoming Miami boat show, Cabo has just a couple of weeks ago launched hull number one of the new 40 Hardtop Express.  This new Cabo shares hull with the famed 40 Flybridge, and follows design footsteps of the latest one year ago presented 44 Hardtop Express model, showing the same concept in a smaller size.  The 40 Hardtop Express will also in my opinion be a competitor to the bigger model, thanks to its versatility of two choices below; single cabin with saloon, or two cabins.  In both formats owners room remains to fore, with the twin bunk berths second cabin replacing the L-shaped settee to starboard.  Outside is all Cabo with a huge cockpit offering all what any fisherman wants, thanks to the wide beam.  But Cabo makes also comfort for guests a must, with a nice mezzanine on the aft deck, and L-shaped lounger behind the center console helm.  Power is from twin Cummins 600hp these with ZF Zeus pods, or 715hp Cummins or Cats with line shaft propulsion.  With the option of Cats and shafts the Cabo 40 Hardtop Express reached 36 knots in its first tests.

Project: Casa 38 HT

Starting up with a 54, and 46 feet models, Casa now looks to a smaller 38 model, and after presenting the Open version project now shows the 38 HT.  A model which represents more the philosophy of the central Italy, South of Rome located boat builder, who so far has always built hard top cruisers and yachts.  The 38 HT copies in all but the hard top the open version, with the well laid interior appearing again.  This making the best use of the spaces offered, presenting itself with two cabins, two shower heads, galley, and an L-shaped saloon.  The aft deck is all for the sun lovers, with sun pad to aft, and C-shaped settee in front, with the helm, and wet bar located opposite to starboard.  Casa seems also resolute on plans to show a well laid engine room with easy to reach secondary items.  Power is from twin Volvo 300hp with estimated speeds being a max of 38 knots.

Improve-it = Clipper 52 Cordova

Clipper has launched a pilothouse layout for its popular 52 Cordova Series II.  The pilothouse is a new option for the internal layout, offering the crew a dedicated navigation station forward, beside the helm. The navigation station includes a wide, upholstered bench seat, fold-up working table and space to spread paper charts. To accommodate the navigation station, the Clipper design team moved the galley aft, and redesigned the saloon to offer a U-shape lounge with a multi-purpose dinette table. The dinette table slides out for easier access and is mounted on a gas strut pedestal. The table can be lowered to create a coffee table effect or to operate as the base for a cushion that turns the lounge into a generous double bed. Of course, the Clipper 52 Cordova with the pilothouse option maintains all the classic Clipper features including the three double cabins, walk-around decks, side and aft boarding doors, stainless steel sliding aft saloon doors and air conditioning throughout.

Project: San Juan SJ 60

A project for San Juan, the SJ 60 which will represent the flagship of its eight model line up which starts at thirty feet.  As all San Juan the new 60 feet flagship will be a traditional down East lobster boat inspired yacht.  As the picture above shows this model will be a flybridge based.  Although I do imagine a hard top choice variant to follow this version in the future when this will be launched.  San Juan has in the past also shown design for a very similar to this 75 model, which was never launched.  We hope that the 60 brings better luck to this builder.  I once viewed an SJ 48 and the quality was very impressive, followed by a not easy on the pocket price tag.

Project: Fairline 80 Squadron Custom

It's been rumoured for a long time, since 2004 for sure, of Fairline going over the eighty feet barrier, and finally the British builder presents officially the rendering of an upcoming new 80 Squadron Custom, which will replace the current 78 born 74 flagship.  The 80 Squadron Custom looks distinctively Fairline outside following design patterns the yard has embraced since the late nineties.  A style which started from the medium sales lucky 52 and 62 Squadron series.  So far Fairline is showing great flexibility in this new flagship with a choice of four lower deck plans; offering from three suites, two four room choices, and one very hard to find in this size and more charter friendly five cabins plan.  One of the four cabins plan, also offers the distinct feature of having an owners room forward, this in this size being always located to midships. The main deck looks also innovative on plan with a standing high pilot house.  Two cabins, plus lobby for crew are located to aft.  So far no performance and engine numbers are given, but I do accept the usual Fairline around 30 knots performance.

New Model: Cranchi 30 Endurance

An important new Cranchi the 30 Endurance, which presents itself as the second small, following the 29 Zaffiro of an eighteen model range which goes up to 66 feet.  The 30 is the baby of the Endurance fleet by Cranchi, the other models being the 35 and long standing 41.  With the 30 Endurance, in house designer Aldo Cranchi, and the research studies developed this model to a semi walk around sport cruiser with huge spaces outside, and a center console set up.  This has paid up for Cranchi and the 30 Endurance which recently won European Powerboat of the Year 2012.   Inside the 30 Endurance offers overnight accommodation sleeping four in a convertible Vee shaped settee, and double berth to midships.  There is also a separate shower head, with a small galley located outside. The pocket cruiser capabilities are featured in the 30 Endurance, although the fuel capacity of only 320 liters does not help much to cover some extra miles. Five engine choices are offered petrol gas or diesel and start from a single 270hp up to two twin 225.  Speeds are 32 knots max, and 26 of cruise with a single 320hp petrol gas set up.

Project: Mulder 16.10 m Bellagio

Bellagio is a new sport yacht currently under construction with a length of 16 meter, designed by the famous Dutch naval architect Vripack and build at Mulder.  The yacht is standard equipped with three cabins; one big owners cabin, a comfortable double guest cabin and even a crew cabin. The owners cabin has an ensuite bathroom, complete with shower and toilet. In the wheelhouse the yacht has four pilot seats, upholstered with the finest leather. The side windows of the wheelhouse can be lowered for a more open feeling and the rooftop can be tilted a few inches to feel a natural breeze over the front windows. It will give you an extraordinary sailing experience. Bellagio is standard driven by 2 Volvo 435hp engines with IPS pod drives, resulting in a top speed of approximately 30 knots.  For the real speed freaks it is optional to add another Volvo 435hp engine in between. With this triple Volvo IPS pods installation, the 16.10 m Bellagio will reach top speeds of 40 knots.

Airon Marine presents its new 4500 T-Top, a new second in size model which sits in between the 2009 introduced 4800 and the successful 4300 T-Tops.  The 4500 T-Top is a new design from Airon offering new comforts, sharing but shorter in length with that of the 4800 model.  The Airon 4500 T-Top living is all concentrated on the main deck protected by the fully enclosed hard top, which when desired opens all from the patio door, sunroof, and side windows.  Down below the 4500 T-Top is offered in two options.  The first is a two cabins layout with full beam midships owners room, VIP suite to fore, and lower L-shaped relaxing settee.  The other choice is a more family orientated layout, offering three double cabins two heads, and an L-shaped galley to starboard.  The owners room in this case is moved to fore.  Power is from twin Volvo 400 or 435hp.  The lower power unit is offered only in stern drive with the second with Volvo's IPS forward looking dual propeller pods.

Project: Absolute 72 Fly

The Absolute wave never stops, and the Italian brand headed by Angelo Gobbi shows its next project, one of important relevance for a new flagship, the 72 Fly.  This model takes over the mantle as biggest Absolute from the 70 STY launched in 2008, going two feet larger, and expands the flybridge range as introduced in 2010, and today having four models from 40 to 53 feet.   As shown in smaller models, Absolute head of design Sergio Maggi also on the 72 Fly, concentrates on modern Italian looks using huge window surfaces to make the owner and guest having a touch feeling with the exterior environment.  Down below a four double cabins with three heads interior plan is offered.  Power will be from Volvo engines, with IPS pods propulsion, and I imagine here a twin IPS1200 with 900hp engines set up.  Absolute having among the best experience with the Volvo IPS pods being one of the first users, starting in 2006 and powering nearly all other models minus the entry level 40 SC.
