Project: Ferretti 690

Ferretti Yachts presents the project of the 690, a replacement model of the 660 set to launch by the middle of 2012.  As in the latest models launched by Ferretti the 690 project sees again designer Zuccon and the Ferretti AYT take an aggressive sports line for a flybridge motor yacht, with unusual window patterns, and a  innovative radar satellite placement area.  This last makes maximum use of all the flybridge for entertainment purposes. The 690 will follow the Ferretti 620 in the stern design too, which is clean and left uncluttered thanks to a hidden crane davit, and an invisible passarelle strictly used for passengers.  Down below is a choice for two layouts with three or four double cabins.  All interior finishing is in grey oak.  The main deck saloon is a single level area with the astern galley, C-shaped sofa, and dining area, and helm to port side.  The astern galley which was presented on the 630 is now here being used in its maximum size.  In the three cabin area  there is a change in the stairs which lead from the main deck, and the space is won over by a lobby, and a separate shower room for the VIP suite.  Power is from twin MAN 1000 or optional 1200hp with top speeds being of 31 knots with the large engine option.

Project: Overmarine Mangusta 130

Overmarine Group presents the project for a soon to launch new Mangusta 130 that, in this case, will replace the previous model. As the smaller and bigger sisters the new Mangusta 130 is designed by Stefano Righini.  Long time collaborator of this famous Italian status symbol big open super sport yacht builder founded in 1985.  The new Mangusta 130 main difference to the previous model is the adding of a sports flybridge that will offer an additional social area without influencing the aggressive exterior lines that characterize this model.  This change also presents a difference to the super structure and the radar arch.  Additional changes are also coming from the view windows with the new model having four extra vertical port holes on each side. In the past Overmarine build a Mangusta 130 S, launched in only one unit which featured a large spacious flybridge but did not look as sleek as the standard model.  This new second in size large Mangusta basically joins the concepts of both the 130's without loosing the sleek sports profile of the lines.

Project: Airon Marine 4500 T-Top

Airon Marine from Lake Come in Italy, presents the project of the new 4500 T-Top, what I imagine to be a replacement model of the successful 4300 T-Top, first of the hard top series from the North Italian builder.  So far Airon has provided this exterior rendering which features a very family feeling to the other bigger or smaller boats of the Lake Como builder, with a lot of similarities to the latest launch, the 4800 T-Top flagship.  A standard internal plan of three cabins, which sleeps six below is being offered.  But an option of two large cabins sleeping four is also available.  Various different plans are also available to what concerns the main deck as is in the end the tradition from Airon Marine, who have a very custom approach in this size, but also in its builds above the 345.  Power choice available is from twin Volvo 400 or 435hp in IPS pods or stern drive choice.  But even here I will imagine more engine options and shafts to be available.

New Model: MJM 29z Downeast

MJM presents its latest new model for the coming year with the 29z Downeast.  This latest MJM uses the same hull as the Express, Outboard versions of the same model with very sleek classic looks.  A very light and strong high technology construction, and a well studied hull contribute to top of the class fuel efficiency in this style and type of Traditional Cruiser boat.  Accommodation is a well thought out layout with the 29z Downeast sleeping two in the fore cabin, which also boasts two meters of head room.  This also features a separate shower head, and a galley.  Outside in the cockpit two forward seats for the helm and co-pilot are joined by a C-shaped settee which can seat up to ten persons.  Power is from four Volvo diesel choices, from a standard 220hp, to an economic optional 170 or faster and bigger 300hp choice.  With this last choice top speed is 40 knots with an economic cruise of 25 giving 3nm for 3.7 liters of fuel.

Project: Fleming 58

Fleming Yachts is pleased to announce the addition of a 58 project, to its line of 55, 65 and 78 foot models. Construction will begin this fall with the first boat scheduled  to complete in late 2012. Ordered with a number of interior arrangements including one with a full beam midships owner’s stateroom, the Fleming 58 provides an ideal intermediate size between the existing 55 and 65.  So far Fleming shows two interior plans for the 58 both of which three cabins, and two shower heads but option B features a more spacious full beam owners stateroom, with a beauty desk, and relaxing sofa. Compared to her smaller sister the 58 features increased headroom in the engine room, an extended waterline length and a more spacious interior due to her increased beam. The pilothouse has room for twin Stidd helm chairs. The cockpit is capacious, and the expanded flybridge will accept a larger tender, BBQ, and additional fridge/freezer space.  The 58 employs much of the same technology used in the Fleming 65 including the Boning ship monitoring system with two 15” color touchscreens, Hypro fly-by-wire precision power steering, and Sea Torque’s enclosed shaft system.  Power to her tank tested semi displacement hull will be from standard Cummins 500hp or optional MAN 800hp.

Powerboat OGP - 2011 Championship Cancelled

Event organiser of the Ocean Grand Prix series International Sea Racing Limited, has announced that the remaining rounds of the 2011 UIM Ocean Grand Prix Powerboat World Endurance Championship will be cancelled.  Joseph Azzopardi, Event Director, Ocean Grand Prix explained that this was a very hard decision to take. He said that the key issues where venues who did not meet the obligations in terms of permissions and in some cases finances.  Another issue which in PowerYachts opinion was also very much present is also the lack of competitors with seven boats taking part in both the classes; three in the production Supersport, and four in the Evolution.  PowerYachtBlog sincerely hopes for better luck to the highly potential Powerboat Endurance Championship in 2012, who ever is the organizer.
