Four Winns presents the V305 project what is a sport cruiser model scheduled to debut in the end of October at the Fort Lauderdale show. The V305 adds another luxury craft to the full line of thirty to 47 feet sport cruiser. This new Four Winns follows family inspired features coming from the the V435 model, with an open cockpit streamlined design, low to the water swim platform, and a newly designed hard top with extended support arms that frame the customized coverage system. Here one simply adds or removes the fitted canvas extension, with a choice of full protection from the elements or an open-aired cockpit atmosphere. The black-framed integrated windshield includes a usual from a US builder walk-through access to the forward deck. This exterior design is the beginning of a visual consistency that will be integrated throughout the Four Winns lineup in future models. Moving through the interior of the new V305, many trademark features to future Four Winns sport cruisers are integrated throughout to assure comfort. The interior layout offers functional use of space; having forward a semi-fixed Vee berth design which by lowering the fold-out backrest enables surface length up to six feet, while to mid ship is a queen size mattress cabin, complete breakfast galley fitted with microwave, sink and refrigerator, and a separate shower head. Entering the outside cockpit is also a first in this size of a full galley relocated from the cabin to the aft cockpit area and features an optional grill as well as an electric cooking surface, refrigerator and sink. A new cockpit table design turns into a full sun lounge by simply lowering the table pedestal and with a simple flip of the seats, the cockpit now becomes a full sun lounge. The helm station is functional and stylish with double bench seating and an easy-to-read dash layout. Power options for the V305 range from twin 220hp up to 270hp petrol Volvo or Mercruiser. For the long navigators and European market Four Winns also offers a twin 220hp Volvo Diesel choice.

New Model: Princess 32M

Princess continues to expand its position in the Super Yacht sector, and after launching the 25 Metre in 2003, and 95 Motor Yacht in 2007, now it presents a new flagship with the launch of the 32M, first of the M class range of vessels. Unveiled at the London Show the past week the 32M is also the largest overall vessel to have been showcased inside London’s Excel exhibition halls. At 32 metres in length and over thirteen metres in height at her highest point, she only narrowly fits through the enormous South Hall doors at the exhibition centre posing a challenging logistical feat. The new 32M is a planning hull shape two deck and half super yacht, engineered to high seagoing standards. Her huge saloon features vast windows to each side and sliding doors leading out to a drop-down balcony to starboard will give the entire main deck the benefit of a spectacular open vista. Offered with four or five guest cabins her owner’s suite is located on the main deck benefiting from large windows providing excellent views on two sides and an equally impressive bathroom forward with spacious shower and separate whirlpool bath. Down below, a full-beam VIP suite is also truly imposing and there is an additional double guest cabin on the port side, with a roomy twin to starboard, reached via an impressive central lobby. Owners who enjoy cruising with larger groups, or those with an eye on the charter market, can opt for the five cabin layout, with two double guest suites in place of the palatial midships VIP, as is the arrangement on hull number one. The 32M heralds the dawn of a new era for Princess Yachts, who continues its pursuit of larger sizes. Arno Leopard New Web Site

Arno Leopard updates its website to a new platform. Arno Leopard starts in 1973 but the story starts in 1907 when Giuseppe Picchiotti and Sons is founded on the limits of the Arno River.  Picchiotti is according to historical data a family which is part of Italy and Tuscany's naval history since the sixteenth century when Grand Duke Cosimo I dei Medici develops the Navicelli canals in order to make transport of goods to Pisa and Livorno easier and faster, with a 1575 document showing Picchiotti as a shipwright on the Arno river.  Apart Arno Leopard, Picchiotti is an important name in the Italian yachting scene after World War Two, from the actual Picchiotti of Viareggio, to 1972 founded Tecnomarine of Filippo, and the eighties Bluemarine from Paolo.  In 1935 Raffaello, Alessandro, Lorenzo and Nello, the sons of Giuseppe Picchiotti rename the yard to Cantieri Navali Arno.  Up till the sixties Cantieri Navali Arno will help and be part of the Picchiotti family boat building linage helping out in the various internal and international governments commissioned builds. During World War Two Cantieri Arno suffers the total destruction of the yard, burned down to the ground by the German army.  Following the war and with help from the US Government Cantieri Navali Arno is rebuild.  In the sixties Cantieri Arno is part of the Picchiotti from Viareggio, helping in the building of some of the successful semi-production wood cruisers and yachts models which debuts in 1955 with the Versilia and will end twelve models later and the 68 in 1975.  Arno will become a separate entity from Picchiotti in 1973 when it presents its first Leopard 15mt model as designed by Paolo Caliari, which coincides with the shipyard signing an exclusive sales agreement with Gerard Rodriguez.  Paolo Caliari will go to design all the Leopard models till his retirement; totalling elven models and finishing with the 26 MY model which launched in 2000.  In 1984 Arno Leopard launches its first fiberglass yacht, the Sport 19, with the prototype of this model build in aluminium.  The Leopard Sport 19 along with it's evolutions the Sport 20 and Sport 21.50, will prove very important for Arno, also because when launched the 20 was the largest sport yacht ever produced. The new millennium sees the production yard move to a bigger nine covered sheds establishment, with easier sea connection for the bigger yachts, and Andrea Bacigalupo a Caliari pupil taking the task of continuing the family feeling in the Leopard designs from 2004. In 2008 after 28 years of cooperation, Arno cancels the exclusive sales agreement with South of France based Rodriguez Group.  Arno Leopard current range features two lines Composite and Steel, and starts from the 32 M up to the still in project 56 M. Its latest model is the 2010 launched 43 M. New Model: Tiara 4500 Sovran

With the genesis of the Sovran series starting over twelve plus years ago, Tiara Yachts set out to redefine a model by presenting the new 4500 Sovran, a model based on the previous 4300 with some important modification being done top sides and on the accommodation front. Market changing features such as integrated windshields, new hardtop style, improved seating maximizing visibility, has helped to do just that, with key areas for this new project born from customer input. This resulted is numerous changes including an advance in windshield and hardtop design to eliminate the center window and improve visibility of the previous model. You will also find focus on the transom including a longer swim platform for a wider variety of dinghy stowage, a large trunk with more storage and a comfortable lounge seat, and a grill. The cabin below features new whisper wall headliner, large skylights for additional natural light, and more abundant storage via beautiful new cabinetry. A new sunroof, utilizing technology currently available on the 5800 Sovran, is standard on this boat. The interior of the 4500 Sovran features a two cabin plan, galley, two en-suite heads, and a convertible saloon which transforms to a double berth sleeping two extra guests if needed. Power is from twin Volvo 435hp engines with IPS forward looking pod drives.

Improve-it = Queens Yachts 72

Queens Yachts presented an unedited version of its current largest build 72 model with a unique black hull color. This improved 72 also featured modifications to the windows; in the owner mid ship located stateroom, and to the lower ones of the coach roof now being of a more clean profile. For the rest the Queens 72 designed by architect Alessandro Inno from Ino Group featured the same four cabin layout, and elegant clean lines. The lower deck plan of the Queens 72 is pretty alternative for a 21 meter sport yacht offering four cabins with one of the guest rooms located aft, and having among the most spacious owners stateroom in this size. A two crew cabin with L-shaped bunks is also located aft to starboard. Power is from twin MTU 1200hp with standard line shaft propulsion.

New Model: Tryvia 1300 GT Hardtop

In the recent years we have seen many builders from the large corporations to the small family owned companies trying to re-invent the wheel of a motor boat. That means presenting a new hull design which offers a hybrid way, joining displacement and planning characteristics of going onto the water. Tryvia with the new 1300 GT Hardtop present the first planning steel build motor boat. A Dutch family owned company, Tryvia builds about five boats per year, and the new 1300 GT Hardtop patented Speed Technology hull, is the result of four years of testing using two prototype models to produce the first planning steel built motor boat. Basically the 1300 GT Hardtop while not being a speed demon is able to cruise faster then other steel build similar cruisers and yachts, and can go even upstream in greater safety against a river tide. Inside the 1300 GT Hardtop will have an owners room to fore peak, and a convertible saloon in the living main deck. Power is a single economic to run and service Steyr 280hp engine.

Carson Buddy Davis Jnr 1949 - 2011

Carson R. "Buddy" Davis Jr., who designed and built Carolina-style sportfishing boats from 28 to 78 feet, died Monday at his home on Monday January 17 in Marathon, Fla., after a lengthy illness, at age 62. A native of Manteo, N.C., Davis was the son of Carson Ralph Davis and "Nonnie" Etheridge Davis, and the sister of Anne Davis Creef. Davis' boats were designed and built mainly under two companies: Davis Boat Works, which he founded in 1973, and Davis Yachts, which he formed in the mid 1980s. During his 45 year boating career, Davis built some 400 yachts. Master at capturing the Carolina look, Davis designed and built boats togather with Donald Blount that were known for their sharp entries and dramatic bow flare. His hull designs were all about function, but Davis also brought a level of luxury to the sportfishing boat that had not been seen before. Davis leaves his hife Barbara; daughter the Hon. Amber Davis, his son Carson Wade Davis who works at Spencer Yachts; his former wife, Elaina Davis; and two stepsons, Tres Midgett, and Matthew Midgett.

New Model: Kadey-Krogen 48 AE

Kadey-Krogen presents the new 48 AE to its fleet of full displacement trawler style explorer yachts, set to launch in the coming Trawler Fest in Fort Lauderdale and the Miami show. In deciding what to name the successor to the venerable 48 North Sea should be, Kadey-Krogen chose the AE designation as an abbreviation for Advanced Ergonomics, the underlying theme in this new offering. Like every Kadey-Krogen yacht for the past 20 years, the 48 AE is being built at Asia Harbor Yacht Builders in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Hull number 48050 will be the first in the AE series. Like all Kadey-Krogens, the 48 AE features a fully covered aft deck multi-purpose space. Moving forward through the welded aluminum weather tight doors, one immediately begins to notice the Advanced Ergonomic nature of the design. To starboard there is either an L or U-shaped settee along with a table that both expands, raises and lowers so it can perform the dual functions of coffee table or a dining table for eight. To port there is room for two full-sized chairs as well as a clear pathway to the galley and beyond. Forward and to starboard the large 48 AE galley features a four burner range, household size refrigerator/freezer, convection microwave and room for both a trash compactor and dishwasher. In addition to the abundance of storage in the galley, there is a nearly floor-to-ceiling pantry opposite on the port side. Moving up to the pilothouse, the Advanced Ergonomics concept really begins to take hold; here owners will find steps. Real, wide and deep steps like in a house with a rock solid banister for safety. The pilothouse on the 48 AE has been completely redesigned to accommodate side-by-side helm chairs as well as a larger electronics console. The ergonomic theme continues through the pilothouse portside welded aluminum weather tight door to the boat deck and flybridge via molded steps, again with a handrail for safety. The boat deck is large enough to accommodate both a thirteen foot tender as well as a summer kitchen. On the flybridge, the helm with enough room for two helm chairs is off to starboard with an L-shaped settee to port that extends the entertainment space of the boat and makes cruising on the flybridge more comfortable for guests. Owners will have a choice of two or three cabin arrangements with the master being forward to maximize natural light and ventilation. The starboard cabin on both arrangements has a dedicated desk allowing this cabin to double as an office. Two heads are standard, each with a separate stall shower. While the advanced ergonomics are the cornerstone of the 48 AE, they are certainly not the only highlight. There will be bright but efficient LED lighting both inside, outside, and the running lights. The temperature in the engine room, machinery space is also to be controlled by two axial fans with moisture eliminators which will provide an abundant supply of dehumidified air to the single 201hp John Deere engine. Range is over 3,000 miles at an economic 7 knots.

New Model: Filippetti 26 Navetta

Filippetti has launched the first model of the new Navetta green series line the 26 Navetta in an event held in Rimini on December 2010. This yacht is designed by Pietro Mingarelli in an ecological and Eco-sustainable manner, complying with rigorous principles of environmental, safety and quality regulations, without ever losing sight of the tastes of the owner. The 26 Navetta has therefore been certified with Rina Green Star Yacht certificate a noble accreditation that guarantees environmental protection and energy savings. The 26 Navetta will have two large spaces available. The first is the imposing owner's cabin on the forward deck, which occupies close to half of the total volume of the yacht and is further divided into two areas. From the cabin, by way of a descending internal ladder, a second large space is accessed, which includes a bath with shower or jacuzzi tub and sauna, locker and a further bay. The other large space is found in the stern, on the upper deck. Usually destined for storage of the tender, on the 26 Navetta this has become a large solarium dedicated to the relaxation of the owner and guests. Hull Number nine of the 35 metre 115 model, flagship of Pershing a brand of the Ferretti Group which is among the main international producers of high performance open motor yachts of 15 to 35 metres, launched on the 12th January at Marina dei Cesari in Fano. The official launching ceremony of Pershing 115 was carried out in the presence of the company management, the ship owner’s representative, and the main local authorities. Pershing 115 is a super sport yacht representing an authentic stylistic evolution, characterized by tortuous but decisive external lines with extraordinary performance. Realized through the collaboration of the staff of Pershing, architect Fulvio De Simoni, Advanced Yacht Technology, and Centro Stile of the Ferretti Group team of architects and designers. Since launched in 2004 Pershing 115 has won good acknowledgments as it best embodied the style of the brand in terms of the richness of detail, the use of valuable materials and innovation in the external shape which creates new spaces below deck. The flagship of the Pershing fleet boasts of four cabins; owner suite and three guest suites, which can sleep a total of nine people, and three crew rooms with five beds. A distinctive feature of every Pershing 115 is the personalisation that contributes in making the flagship of the fleet a unique product, varying from one model to another and which can be customized according to the owner’s needs. Particularly, the latest hull nine model distinguishes itself for its shiny white pearl coloured hull, a distinctive feature of the new Pershing models, donating luminosity and Energy to the vessel profile. Inside, the main hall has been renovated up to the finest details but its characteristic layout with a banded coal French window at the stern, which separates the cockpit from the main hall, has been kept. The large cockpit itself, which is about 24 metres squared, is even more spacious and enjoyable, both during the day and in the evening, with its vast covered area made unique by its lateral carbon fittings and seating, a teak table for 10 people, a bar, a large solarium and, for the first time, a 32” in-built TV placed on the ceiling on the left. Among these structural innovations, which required the specific support of the Pershing technical staff, it is worth mentioning the highly innovative entertainment and domotic system, which once again highlights the constant commitment of the brand to offer forefront products. In fact, this vessel is equipped with a centralized audio and visual system that can be managed by a “touch panel” with AMX technology and it can be integrated with the installation of a “Kaleidoscape” system which archives music and dvds like in a library. Moreover, the system actively controls, through the same touch panel, the Lutron light system, electrical curtains, air conditioning and a closed-circuit video camera system, which makes it possible to watch the onboard nautical maps and the bridge radar routes on the dash board. Finally, on this vessel there is an onboard monitoring system for parameters such as the closure of the porthole and the external doors, the tension level of the batteries and the smoke detector. Pershing 115 hull number nine is powered by two MTUs which total 7400hp with the applied thrust of the two Kamewa Rolls Royce water-jet propellers with a maximum velocity of about 38 knots. A unique characteristic of this mega yacht is the presence of a Vericor TF50 gas turbine, typically used in the aeronautical sector, capable of developing a power of over 5100 hp, with a central water-jet propeller propulsion. Its use requires specific accessories and mechanical parts and technologies that are integrated within the system which includes, for example, the titanium drain, the axis and the reducer.
