Sudden Storm Beaches a Dozen Yachts in Komiza, Island of Vis, Croatia

Over a dozen yachts were in difficulty and some ended beached as a sudden storm which peaked fifty knots of wind and dropped air temperature from thirty to 21 degrees, hit the Komiza bay, to the West of the Dalmatian Island of Vis, Split, Croatia on Sunday third August at around 19:00 hours.  All the yachts grounded seemed to be sail yachts and catamarans from ten to fifteen meters, with the exception of the above Aquila sixteen meter power catamaran which seemed to have ended in a difficult situation, as two sail yachts ended on his bow.  Two videos on social media, one from a super yacht anchored outside the bay on what looked a safer spot, and the other from the Aquila power catamaran showed the dramatical situation as it unfolded.  One sailing yacht was reported sank from the storm, but no reports of grievous injuries were reported.
The Aquila in this situation is a 54 model as designed by the Jacep and Jernei Jakopin brothers and produced since 2021.  The 54 has been a huge success for Aquila, with one hundred units being build thus far.
