Aquila Power Cat Burns Down at Longboat Marina Florida

An unattended 21 meter Aquila power catamaran titled m/y Steady AF went ablaze while berthed at Longboat Key Club, Florida at 20:30 hours of Monday fifth August.  The owner who was in Canada at the time of the fire, called Longboat Key Fire Rescue Department as he received an alert from the yachts feed system showing smoke.  The fire rescue department replied to the call, with the US Coast Guard also coming later to control the fire.  The boat burned through the night, with the fire officials determining that Lithium powered batteries where involved in the fire, although in later statements they did not confirm this was the cause of the blaze.  Ultimately Steady AF partly sank and was boon protected by the coast guard for any pollution that might come out. 
M/y Steady AF is an Aquila 70 Luxury, the power catamaran boat and yacht builder current flagship which debuted in 2021.  Aquila was a brand created in 2013 by MarineMax with Chinese company Sino Eagle Group which builds the power catamarans in Hangzhou City, China.

Classic Motor Yacht Burns and Sinks Offshore to Punta Licosa

A 21 meter classic motor yacht registered under Italian flag and with two persons onboard developed a fire first and then sank later five nautical miles offshore to Punta Licosa, offshore of Agropoli at about 13:00 hours of Monday fifth August.  Guardia Costiera Agropoli section intervened in the accident, saving the two crew from the burning yacht. The classic motor yacht ultimately was wrecked by the fire first and sank in a depth of one hundred meters into the Tyrrhenian sea.
The yacht in this sinking is a Cantieri Navali di Livorno Drake m 22 as designed by Aldo Cichero.  Debuting in 1974 the Livorno Drake is known by classic Italian yacht connoisseurs for managing to offer a raised pilot house in just 22 meters of length.

Five Persons Saved From Boat Fire in Campos Mallorca

Five persons were rescued from a cuddy sport cruiser fire of seven meters in length at Ses Covetes, Campos, to the South of Mallorca at about 12:00 hours of Monday fifth August.  The boaters jumped into the water after a may-day call as other nearby boaters assisted them.  Salvamento Maritimo intervened to the fire with the m/v Salvamar Mimosa which departed from Portocolom to the East of Mallorca.  After checking that no injuries were sustained by the boaters the Salvamento Maritimo crew tended to extinguishing the fire.  The boat was filmed and reported on anchor when it went ablaze with the cause of the fire not being reported.

One Young Boy Injured in Lake Texoma Classic Cruiser Explosion

A classic sport cruiser of eight meters in length with three adults and a young five year old boy went ablaze near the fuel dock of Bridgeview Marina in Lake Texoma, Madill, Oklahoma around 14:45 of Sunday fourth August.  The classic cruiser was reported to have just refuelled when on igniting the engine it exploded, and then went ablaze.  With the explosion the young boy suffered burns to arms, face, and legs and was helicopter air-lifted to Parkland Burn Center in Dallas. The three other adults; a 52 year old man, and two women of 51 and 25 years old were uninjured from the explosion.  Madill Fire Department and Tri-City Fire Department responded to the fire, as Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and  Oklahoma Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the blaze.
The classic boat in this explosion is a Chris Craft Catalina 28 Express as produced in the mid eighties.  The Catalina 28 Express came as a replacement to the Catalina 281, and was one of the last raised cabin house cruisers from Chris Craft.

One Man Injured as Boat Explodes Near Lampedusa

A sport cruiser of about ten meters in length with two persons onboard went on fire first and then exploded at Cala Uccello, on the Pelagie Island of Lampedusa on an accident which happened on the late afternoon of fourth August.  When the two persons saw the fire they jumped in the water, who were then collected by a young man which was nearby with his rib, transporting the two boaters to Cala Pisana.  One of the two boaters, a 49 year old man from Lampedusa was taken to a polyclinic in Lampedusa for suffering from various fire burns, and was then later helicopter transported to an intensive therapy unit in Palermo.  The Port Captaincy of Lampedusa has opened an investigation on the incident.
The ten meter sport cruiser is a Gari 37 Shaitang as produced from the nineties and to the early noughties.  The Gari 37 Shaitang was an evolution of the 35 Shaitang which was released in the eighties.

Ferretti Yacht Saved from Sinking Near Punta Ala

 
A 23 meter Ferretti motor yacht with five persons onboard was saved from sinking or doing further damage, as it ended on top a reef in Punta Hidalgo, to the East of Punta Ala, Province of Grossetto, Tuscany on the afternoon of Sunday fourth August.  The Ferretti yacht ended atop a soft reef and was assisted by the marine section of the Guardia di Finanza with the vessel V.839, who with gentle care towed the yacht to safety without doing further damage.  The yacht was later assisted and returned to Punta Ala Marina for an inspection of the possible damage from the collision.
The Ferretti yacht in this reef collision is a 750, as designed by Zuccon and produced from 2014 to 2017.  The Ferretti 750 came out as a replacement to the first generation 720, of which she was an evolution, and was replaced by the 780.

Two Yachts Destroyed by Fire in Turtle Point Marina Alabama

Two motor yachts of about nineteen meters in length were destroyed by fire at Turtle Point Marina, Killen, Alabama on Sunday fourth August.  Fire fighters where alerted of a yacht fire at 07:00 morning time, involving one yacht.  As Killen Fire and Rescue arrived in the scene, they found two burning yachts moving to other yachts, with the first action being to remove the main yacht on fire to prevent other boats from being exposed to the flames. Several people on nearby vessels were safely evacuated by first responders.  Officials said the secondary yacht on fire was controlled quickly, while the primary yacht was placed on a secondary pier, with floating booms around it to contain hazardous runoff.  Killen Fire and Rescue was helped by eleven other fire fighting agencies.  An investigation on the cause of the fire is under investigation.
One of the yachts in this fire is a Hampton Yachts 650 as designed by Howard Apollonio and debuting in 2016 and still in production today.

Two Super Yachts Destroyed by Fire at Zea Marina Near Athens

A fire which originated first on a tourist vessel burned down and wrecked two super yachts in a blaze which developed in Zea Marina, Piraeus, to the South West of Athens at about 23:00 time of Thursday first August. The flames are reported to have started on the tourist vessel which was berthed in between the two burned super yachts, with the classic 42 meter Libra Y to its port side, and the 32 meter O'rianna to its starboard. Reports also indicate explosions occurred during the blaze with emergency response coming in with 26 firefighters, ten fire engines, three coastguard boats, and a fire brigade vessel. One firefighter was hospitalized due to breathing issues, and the coastguard evacuated ten persons from the pier.  Following the control of the fire a floating barrier was deployed to manage potential sea pollution with authorities investigating the cause of the fire.
M/y Libra Y the yacht burned down in this blaze is a classic one off Picchiotti build in 1977, to a design of Jon Banenberg with naval architecture by Don Shead.  Offering accommodation for ten guests Libra Y was available for charter in the Eastern Mediterranean with prices starting at 79,000 EUROS per week.
M/y O'Rianna the other super yacht destroyed by the fire is a just completed Golden Yachts 32m from 2024, with its first owner reported to take delivery of the vessel this Spring.  The Golden Yachts 32m was originally an uncompleted fourth hull of the Cantieri di Pisa Akhir 108 as designed by Carlo Galeazzi, which debuted in 2008 and was delivered in three units.  This is the second uncompleted Cantieri di Pisa finished by Golden Yachts, with the Greek yacht builder also completing an Akhir 118 hull.
