Project: Palm Beach PB85

Representing nearly three decades of innovative Palm Beach Motor Yachts design and construction, the PB85 is set to become the new flagship of the renowned global yacht brand.  Entering the Superyacht realm is a natural progression for Palm Beach Motor Yachts, the acclaimed builder established by ocean-racing champion and performance yacht builder, Mark Richards.  Since its founding in 1995, Palm Beach Motor Yachts has garnered international recognition and a devoted following among enthusiasts of technologically advanced, meticulously designed and built, high-performance motor yachts. They are becoming increasingly known for their impressive fuel efficiency and range, consuming less fuel than other yachts in their class.  The Palm Beach PB85 is designed to be available in three exterior versions; Sedan, Extended Flybridge as pictured above, and Skylounge choices.  The interior of the PB85 will offer an upper galley layout, with this getting more space in the Skylounge option as this version does not feature a main deck helm station.  Lower deck accommodation is for three double cabins forward, with two cabins for crew located at midships located in between the engine room and fuel tanks.  The Palm Beach PB85 is to be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives and or twin Man 1300hp on line shafts with top speeds up to 26 and 27 knots respectively.  As is usual for Palm Beach the PB85 is whisker light weighing at just 43 tons unloaded, and thanks to this able to give an impressive 700 nautical mile range at 21 knots with the Volvo set up.  Give or take this would be about 8% more with the shafts set up, which is still an impressive number.

New Model: Holterman X-78 Fly

Holterman has launched the second hull of its X-78 model, with this new unit being the Fly for flybridge version and set to go in the Mediterranean sea.  The first Holterman X-78 Fly was finalized ahead of delivery to a highly experienced owner, and is another addition to the groundbreaking Xtreme series line-up from Dutch shipyard Holterman. Drawing on the technical and construction prowess of Holterman, the X-78 Fly is designed by Bernd Weel, and features interiors by Kitty van der Kamp, and naval architecture by Sea Level and Diana. The owner was also integral part of the design and build with him input coming at every before and during construction stage.  With X-78 Fly, Holterman Xtreme series which launched to universal acclaim with the award-winning X-105 in 2022 is here to stay bringing ever a growing stable of thoroughbred luxury yachts and super yachts. Holterman’s philosophy in developing the X-78 Fly was simple but multi-faceted, take the X-78 Sport, a non-flybridge variant that was built for and delivered to an owner who wanted the best yacht he could get for cruising the confines of the Dutch canals, and elevate it literally to the next level with the addition of the perfect flybridge. The genius lay in the development of the X-78 Sport specifically to include a future Fly variant, using the same aluminum hull and superstructure, advanced engineering platform and lower and main deck layouts for efficiency but adding the Fly to create the ultimate boat for the Med and beyond.

New Model: Azimut Seadeck 6

When Azimut enters a genre or invents a new one it is always revolutionary!  So when the Seadeck line of eco-friendly and eco-conscious yachts was announced in early 2023 it looked from the beginning that the yachting sector was up for an innovative shake-down experience.  The Seadeck line is Azimut's most eco-friendly series to date which promises a 40% reduction of emissions in a year of usage, a huge result considering that the Italian yacht builder has been going eco-conscious since 2012 and the debut of its 55S model.  The 6 as all following Seadeck's are a mild or optional full hybrid planning sport yacht, which takes eco-friendly yachting into its next step in a long journey ahead.  But as usual for Azimut the criteria has to meet the purpose so designer Alberto Mancini was instructed to bring a new style yacht giving with a mix of exploration and sporty details which give best of use, while a new hull shape by NAMES which features a sharp entry promises reduced consumption at all speeds, and re-thinking of the construction and finishing materials used.  That is why the Azimut Seadeck 6 uses cork as replacement to teak for its deck, and carpets are made of re-purposed raw materials, with the same thing being done to 30% of the yachts skeleton. The Azimut Seadeck 6 debuted in mid-April first during the Milano Design Week 2024, with its official showing coming in end May at the always growing Venice boat show.  The first Seadeck 6 is fitted with the mild-hybrid zero emissions hotel mode, a 42 kwh lithium battery pack which will give up to eight hours of silent generator-free boating, with a full hybrid system of which the yacht is ready to embrace coming before the end of the year.  The Azimut Seadeck 6 is not yachting re-invented, more repurposed to be one of the most environmental clean and innovative yachts in the market today, which will entice buyers mostly with its expandable outdoor areas, like its drop down bulk heads which extend exterior spaces in a different way to yachts of similar size.  Look at it and then you see that it is actually a beach club from a forty meter super yacht, but fitted to a seventeen meters.

Pershing Yacht Ends Beached in S'Espalmador

A seventeen meter Pershing sport yacht titled m/y Sophia 1 with two persons onboard ended beached in Pas de Trucadors on the islet of S'Espalmador to the North of Formentera, before 22:30 hours of Saturday 22 June.  Salvament Maritim received a call from third parties that a yacht had ended aground and sent a vessel plus a research helicopter and a notice to other boaters for search.  Ultimately the vessel Zinit finds the yacht and reports its position and that two persons are onboard and not injured.  Following this Salvament Maritim m/v Acrux comes to the scene and offers to take the boaters to Ibiza, which they refuse and say that they are waiting for a private company to come and tow the yacht to a boat yard for inspection and eventual repairs.  Speculation is suggesting that the Pershing yacht had to be traveling at a speed of 35 knots to end in this way on the sand dunes.  The damage is not reported but since the Pershing yacht is on surface drives it will be less to a shafts or pod driven yacht.
The Pershing in this beaching is the 54 model, as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 1995 to 2003 in over fifty units.  Today considered a classic the 54 is one of Pershing's most important models and was it's best seller up until 2007.   The 54 was available with both shafts and surface drives in its first four years production to then only be available with the later.  The Pershing 54 came out as a replacement to the first generation 52 and was replaced by the 56.
