Classic Bertram Burns and Sinks in Liguria

A fourteen meter Bertram classic sportfish cruiser with five people onboard; four men and a woman went ablaze on 20:30 hours of Saturday ten June.  The Bertram was travelling from Lavagna in Eastern Liguria to Cala Medici yacht marina in Tuscany, when for an unknown reason ten nautical miles into its trip it went ablaze in front of Deiva Marina.  As soon as the boaters noticed the fire a MayDay was called, answered by the La Spezia coast guard operation, with the boaters first finding help from a passing by Rib, with the Sestri Levante coast guard later assisting in trying to stop the fire, and then taking the boaters to safety.  The five boaters where then later transported to Tigullio harbour where an ambulance was awaiting for a routine check to the five boaters, as they were unharmed with the exception for a shock. The classic Bertram was near to all engulfed by the fire, and then sank in the depths of the Ligurian sea.
The Bertram in this fire is a 46 Convertible also called the 46.6 because of the 46 feet six inches length, as designed by Dave Napier and produced from 1971 to 1987.  The Bertram 46 Convertible was replaced by the 50 Convertible with a second generation 46 coming in 1995.

Project: Benetti B.Now 72M

Benetti announces the sale of the the first B.Now 72m, which is to be build with Oasis Deck stern layout. The new super yacht confirms the close collaboration between Benetti and British design studio RWD, which has designed a super yacht with generous spaces reserved for the owner’s exclusive use. With a length of 72 metres and a beam of over twelve metres, the new yacht is now the flagship of the B.Now series of four models from fifty to 72 meters all designed in partnership with RWD to offer owners a modern lifestyle experience with spacious interior and exterior settings characterised by their multi-functionality.  These are the features that convinced the owner to choose his super yacht, which embodies all Benetti's expertise and technical know-how. Tommy One Damages Propeller in Record Breaking Run

 

Renowned powerboat Tommy One and offshore racer Maurizio Schepici sustained damage to one of its propellers by hitting some sort of debris, while trying to make a new record for the Messina-Vulcano-Messina 65 nautical miles run, departing on 1700 hours of Friday ninth June.  The propeller damage was sustained just before the Vulcano island turn, with Tommy One slowing down in around twenty minutes into its run, which indicated that the previous 52 minutes record could have been reduced by about ten minutes.  The day after Tommy One was fitted with a new pair of propellers, albeit with a bit shorter pitch and made a new record to the Messina-Vulcano-Messina route at 45 minutes, a reduction of seven minutes to the previous time.
Tommy One is a Metamarine TNT 46 Corsa one of the most successful offshore powerboat machines, World Endurance champion in the no limit Evolution class in 2010, and 2004 in the speed limited SuperSport class. Based around a Fabio Buzzi hull and SeaTek diesel power, she has ever since evolved and modified and ultimately in 2011 was launched as a Metamarine TNT 48 Replica pleasure production version, and a limited 85 knots top speed.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SD118

Sanlorenzo SD118 model comes as a replacement to the SD112, after six years in production and nineteen units delivered.  The new SD118 was presented as a project in the fall of 2020, with the first unit launching in 2021, and comes from a design of Bernardo Zuccon, who debuted a more vertical clean profile to the previous Francesco Paszkowski design of the previous one meter smaller model.  The Sanlorenzo SD118 offers an interior with five double guest cabins, including of which is a forward main deck full beam owners stateroom, which will include a private lounge, and a walk-in wardrobe nearly big as one of the four VIP staterooms below.  Crew accommodation is in three cabins for five or six, at the forward part of the lower deck, with this area including a lobby and galley upon arrival.  The Sanlorenzo SD118 is powered by twin Man 1400hp or Cat 1622hp engines.  Sanlorenzo has far sold twelve units of the second in size SD model with deliveries now entering 2026.

Project: Garlington 80 Flybridge

Founded in 1980 Garlington has in little time, gained a reputation of building among the most high-technological, light and fast sportfish yachts in the market.  Now the forty year plus custom sportfish builder takes the next step in size by presenting the project for a new 80 Flybridge flagship.  While Garlington did have an 80 in the first decade of the noughties, delivered in three units between 2000 and 2005, two of which in enclosed bridge these were actually build by McMullen and Wing in New Zealand due to space constraints.  This new Garlington 80 Flybridge will share similar proportions to the 61 and recently launched 71, and like its smaller siblings is to be build in Stuart, Florida.  Garlington is far not very specific on the model, accept that preparation to start construction are complete, with a four or five double cabins layout, and as usual from the Stuart custom sportfish builder top speeds over forty knots.

New Model: Maritimo S75 Sedan Motor Yacht

Australian luxury yacht manufacturer Maritimo, announces the arrival of the awaited S75 Sedan Motor Yacht. The S75 is the embodiment of everything that is Maritimo, in a form that balances authority and grace in every way and angle, from the confident and deliberate lines, further accentuated by the extended hardtop that delivers significant coverage and protection from the elements, and its definitively commanding presence. Along with the sleek hips that frame a delicate reverse sheer, the overall aesthetic somewhat belies the S75’s overall and very distinct proportions. It is for example big enough to play basketball while at anchor!. Sitting just above the waterline, this adventure deck creates a visual and functional connectivity with the ocean, where all adventures await, and upon return provides a welcoming space for lounging, barbecuing, and relaxation. Stepping up to the grand upper-cockpit deck space and alfresco lounging area, these superbly appointed and exceptionally functional connected spaces offer abundant opportunities for entertaining and dining, or full weather protection should the need arise. Project: Cranchi Sessantadue

Cranchi is working on the Sessantadue project a new flybridge motor yacht with an overall length of just over twenty metres. This new model will enhance the line-up of Cranchi Yachts’ Flagship Collection and make it even more complete, joining the 23 meters Settantotto flagship and 2022 launched Sessantasette. For this new project, the art direction will once again be handled by Christian Grande, guaranteeing family feeling with the company's two widely appreciated larger motor yachts. With a similar profile to the other two larger Cranchi's, these initial renderings are showing the Sessantadue with a vertical bow profile. According to Cranchi the Sessantadue will give up nothing in terms of having distinctive and peculiar characteristics both in its exterior lines and the choice of interior décor. The Sessantadue will also feature extraordinary technology and design solutions to guarantee the very highest levels of liveability, comfort and safety. The details of the Sessantadue will be unveiled one piece at a time on Cranchi's web page and social media profiles, leading brand fans on a voyage of discovery for this upcoming new model.

Viking Hits Townsend Inlet and Sinks

A sixteen meter Viking sportfish yacht with seven people onboard struck the Townsends Inlet Bridge, and later partially sank on its starboard side at the Avalon Yacht club, in New Jersey USA.  The collision with the Townsends Inlet Bridge happened on 23:00 hours of Monday fifth June, and some fifteen minutes later the Viking yacht partially sank.  The causes of the collision are not reported, with the seven people saved from the yacht by the area Coast Guard, and Sea Tow and Northstar Marine assisting keeping the vessel afloat and then on recovering it, which they completed on Wednesday seventh June.  Due to the collision the bridge waterway was temporary closed on Tuesday morning with commercial divers and engineers inspecting and repairing the damage sustained by the impact.  
This is the second time the bridge was struck by boat traffic in less to a year, with another collision occurring in July 2022, when a steel built motor vessel under charter with 22 passengers collided with the 1939 made Townsends Inlet.  The Townsends Inlet Bridge is located in New Jersey on the Atlantic ocean, linking Sea Isle City with Avalon Bay.
The Viking in this bridge collision is a first generation 52 Convertible as produced from 2002 to 2008.  The Viking 52 Convertible was a replacement to the first generation 50 Convertible and was replaced by the second generation 54C.

New Model: Van Den Hoven Voyager 50 Coupe

In early December 2022 Van Den Hoven delivered the first Voyager 50 Coupé to her delighted owners. This new smallest model in the Voyager series comes from a design by René van der Velden, with the sport yacht performing superbly in combination with elegance, space and comfort. The Voyager 50 Coupe has a sporty look that appeals to a younger crowd, along with a stylish and modern feel, and can also cruise into many European rivers and waters with lower bridges thanks to its lower profile. A single-level layout and low step make for easy accessibility, further enhanced by the aft deck, saloon, galley and steering position all being located on the same deck. The Voyager 50 Coupe is also a highly manoeuvrable yacht that is simple to sail, and operate with a high attention to detail thanks to a finishing of the highest level. The Voyager 50 Coupe is also equipped with fixed fin stabilisers that keep roll to an absolute minimum.  Van den Hoven Voyager 50 Coupe welcomes guests into the aft deck with a dinette offering the perfect sport for lounging or dining for up to six people which converts into a large sunbed for two. The stern features a large storage space with an electrically operated hatch to store bicycles and the like. The up and down hydraulic swimming platform can accommodate a tender of up to 3.85 metres. Wide and safe passage-ways lead to the foredeck where there is a sunbed and a forward looking seating area.  The Voyager 50 has an interior and can accommodates six persons in three cabins, all located on the lower deck with the master room located forward.  The Van den Hoven Voyager 50 Coupe is powered by twin Volvo 480hp with line shaft propulsion which give a top speed up to 22 knots,  As all Van Den Hoven Voyagers the 50 Coupe is built in aluminium, and for this can easy be customized to clients requests.

Beneteau Trawler Aground in Lynnhaven Inlet

A twelve meter Beneteau explorer cruiser titled m/y JiMaria with USA registry ended aground while entering Lynnhaven Inlet, Virginia Beach on the early evening of the fourth June. The Beneteau Swift Trawler was out of the standard channel route and entered an unmarked difficult to navigate area.  The Beneteau Swift Trawler was removed from the grounding area and taken for repairs on the ninth June.
M/y JuMaria is a 2011 Beneteau 44 Swift Trawler as designed by Joubert and Nouvelt for exterior and interiors by Frutschi and produced from 2011 up to 2019 in about five hundred units.  The Beneteau 44 Swift Trawler was a replacement to the 42 ST and was replaced by the 41 Swift Trawler.
