Projects: Sunseeker 80 Yacht, Sunseeker 88 Yacht

As advised in the preview of the two new Sunseeker Predators, the British builder will present two new models in its Yacht range too, one which is totally new and the other a further development of the 86. With this Sunseeker makes it a total of five new models at Southampton, a record new boat showing for a single boat show. The Sunseeker 80 Yacht project will enjoy the same attention and scope for personalisation currently experienced on all the models in this range. This new model will be the latest model to join the Yacht line, and will also be Sunseeker answer to owners wanting a Super Yacht status boat of just eighty feet which is possible to operate by owner with minimum crew. Below deck arrangements are for two layouts, offering three full beam double suites, or a two double guest cabins and two twin guest cabins arrangement. Crew accommodation is situated aft. Speed for the 80 Yacht are of an estimated 25 knots cruise which give a range of around 350 nautical miles, and a wide open throttle speed of 30 knots. The lower interior wheelhouse located on the main deck provides large yacht facilities including a fully integrated monitoring system. The 80 Yacht will also catch attention for its large flybridge providing separate helm position, ample seating sunbathing space, and is available with an optional hardtop featuring the opening sunroof. At the stern, a large up and low bathing platform provides space to carry a tender or jet ski. The Sunseeker 88 Yacht, is not a completely new model being a further development to the highly successful 86 Yacht offering enlarged crew quarters aft, and an alternative guest cabin layout. The new 88 Yacht will have a 23 knots cruising speed, which give a range of 350 nautical miles, and a top speed of 30 knots.

Powerboat P1 - Sicily GP Power Pole Furnibo & Iko Casa Fastest

The Powerboat P1 world title contenders did little to ease tension ahead of tomorrow’s Sprint Race as Seagull Chaudron and Baia Attolini were pipped to the post in the SuperSport Class PowerPole by the ladies from Ikocasa.
In waves estimated to be in excess of six feet, Scandinavian Grand Prix of the Sea Endurance Race winners, Furnibo, topped the bill in the Evolution Class qualifier as World Championship hopeful’s SNAV OSG suffered a cracked hull in practice. Current championship leaders Silverline lost power on their final practice lap and as a result neither team was able take to the waters for the critical qualifying session.
All-female outfit Ikocasa put the recent disappointments in Italy and Sweden behind them to claim top spot, coming home by over five seconds ahead of fellow Chaudron manufactured Seagull Boat. The Ukrainian Spirit recorded a time 10 seconds ahead of all-Italian rivals, Baia Attolini, in the Donzi Marine hull.
In the Evolution Class only the returning Metamarine Pignolo and Furnibo recorded qualifying times. Elsewhere Cranefields Wine managed to fire their engines but their miserable sequence of bad luck continued as they suffered another technical fault and had to return to the pits.

New Model: Portofino 11 Coupe

After presenting the Portofino 11 Fly in the fall of 2008, the Ligurian boat builder gets things more exciting by presenting the new Coupe version. A more aggressive looker and single lower helm version of the 11 Fly. Portofino is not new to this solutions having offered in the past various top side configurations to the smaller 750, 10, and 37 models. Designer Zagano for the new 11 Coupe launched for the first time this Spring offers an all year usable Sport Cruiser with a panoramic glass hard top, together with a patio door solution. For the rest this boat is the same as the 11 Fly, with the lower deck offering two cabins. Owners cabin to fore, double bunk guest cabin to starboard, and shower head to port. A further double berth can be obtained by converting the c-shaped saloon settee to starboard on the main deck. The galley is also on the main deck to port, this solution offering a better convivial area along with more comfort for the fortunate chef. Power is twin Volvo IPS350 260hp each, or IPS400 300hp with this later option achieving a top speed of 34 knots. Portofino also thought to use a registry length of under ten metres in this case of 9.48 metres, which makes the 11 in both its versions in no need of a maritime registration in Italy.

Projects: Fairline 44 Targa Open, Fairline 41 Squadron

Fairline is presenting two important models set to bring a great success to the brand. The first of these pictured above in the released plans is the launch of a new version for the 44 Targa now called Open, which will sit alongside the latest presented hard-top Gran Turismo launched in 2007. The new Targa 44 Open will be also very competitively priced, offering a higher incentive to the Fairline brand followers to upgrade from a previous smaller model. The latest 44 Targa Open will also offer an even larger cockpit seating area than previously seen on the Gran Turismo version to allow even more sociable entertaining and reflects Fairline's trend towards large, open cockpits. The aft settee is also cleverly designed too easily convert to a sunbed for owners and guests to relax. Volvo stern drive engines power the new version and an optional Sterndrive Joystick system will be available for similar IPS manoeuvring functionality. When powered with twin Volvo D4-300 stern drive engines, the anticipated top speed of the 44 Targa Open is 32 knots. Many of the changes which came with this new open version will be coming also with hard top 44 Targa Gran Turismo version which PowerYachtBlog will present in a later stage.

The second of Fairline new boats are the plans for the much-anticipated 41 Squadron. A flybridge motor cruiser which will replace the 40 Phantom after seven years of production offering luxury, spaciousness and performance, within a remarkable compact length. Available from summer 2010, this new two cabin, en-suite boat is set to make serious waves in the 40-50 foot market and the British builder has reported strong forward orders with all of 2010 production retail sold. The smallest ever built Squadron, the new 41 is still every inch a Squaddie and carries many of the design and technology advances pioneered in the larger models to offer a practical, user-friendly flybridge motor yacht for owners to relax and entertain guests. Featuring innovative accommodation throughout, the 41 Squadron includes a light, airy saloon with full length windows and sumptuous furnishings, which leads to the large, light-filled galley. The expansive use of glazing throughout includes feature skylights in the forward full beam master cabin to flood light and give a spacious, airy feeling. The starboard guest cabin almost doubles in usable size when its double doors to en-suite are open. 'Floating' furniture as seen on the latest 55 increases the appearance of floor size throughout the cabins. The same sense of space and big boat luxury is further enhanced by the extra large flybridge and the openness of the cockpit. The team, led by Design Director, Adam Greenwood, has worked hard to create a flybridge motor cruiser that offers some of the largest accommodation areas on a boat of this size with every available space utilised and maximised to create the most voluminous 40 foot Fairline yet. Key features to be unveiled on this exciting new boat will be incorporated into all future Squadrons and are a larger flybridge than previously seen on boats of this size, cockpit space with twin transom gates for easy access on either side of the aft seating, concealed tender launch option for Williams 285 Jet RIB to provide a clean open transom, recognition of the needs of on-board entertaining with the galley equipped with two fridges being one of the largest on a Squadron as it utilises space under the saloon floor, master cabin with feature skylights, the introduction of a unique open plan guest cabin with unique en-suite arrangement to create the most spacious accommodation, and both en-suites heads offering full stand-up showers.

Powerboat P1 - Sicily, Syracuse Preview

The Powerboat P1 2009 Season comes to its final round on the island of Sicily in Syracuse. This year has been characterized by a superb level of competition in both the classes. Another unusual surprise for P1 was the calm waters racing helped also by closed seaway venues as Turkey and Sweden, but also classic rough sea rounds like Malta offered relatively flat conditions. Syracuse and its South Ionian sea are normally associated with very unstable weather patterns, so now its up to see how these turnout.

Evolution Class will be about the hunt for the championship win by second and third standers, 88 SNAV OSG and 10 Cigarette Smash Poker. With 88 SNAV OSG showing good pace in this second part of the season winning three races out of four in the last two venues. Can they reach the reliable but slow 47 Silverline and win the 2009 title? Fourth standers 77 Lucas Oil who after the spin and sinking of the fourty three feet Outerlimits boat in the second race in Sweden, will be using the old 2008 Skater boat. The team did try hard to work it out with the Outerlimits SV40 used for the 2007 season which they did not manage to set up. 33 Furnibo will be looking to repeat there first win of the season in Sweden second race, but surely the Fountain Mercury package is a top runner, and only the missing race in Malta forbid the Belgian team from challenging a title win. 66 Cranefields will be looking to stabilize there package and see where they can improve for the coming year. 53 Metamarine Pignolo after missing in Sweden confirmed they will run in Syracuse. Supersport Class follows the script of the bigger Evolution, but in a tighter package and less points distance between the first and second place. Twenty eight points separate class leaders 43 Seagull Chaudron and second stander 38 Baia Attolini. Will they be enough to give Tedeschi and a 41 feet Chaudron hull there third title? I am sure 38 Baia Attolini after a very convincing and reliable chasing season have other plans. Third placed 17 Spirit of Belgium who made a season of reliability stand in third place, will want to repeat the good pace shown in Sweden and will make all there best to defend the Bronze honour. 26 Team SW1 stand at fourth, although if it was not for reliability and bad luck, the British boat could have easily challenged for the championship of what so far appeared to be the fastest Supersport boat. Female driven 44 Iko Casa will be looking to climb up the charts on the 2007 and 2008 title winning Chaudron hull. At the end of the table stand the double team entry of 28 Big Sergio and 22 Blue Shaft, of what was so far has been a very disappointing season from the Naples based outfit. New Model: Jeanneau 10 Leader

After delivering over five hundred 34 Prestige in its standard open and Sport Top versions in a span of over six years, French builder Jeanneau presents its replacement and what also means the presentation and extension of the Leader line. With the 10 Leader, Jeanneau is launching its new Sport Cruiser range and applying its concept of contemporary and innovative design, quality performance, comfort on board and lightness. The integrated sport top design provides the 10 Leader with two configurations of a soft or hard opening. Garroni really presented a nice looking hard top boat following his long lasting collaboration with the French builder, but also adding to it a very functional cockpit, and bathing platform. Down below the accommodation is for two separate cabins featuring an owner room to fore, and guest cabin mid ship. There is also a further two double berths in the convertible saloon. Power is from standard twin Volvo 5.7GI 280hp gas power, or optional D4 260hp engines.

New Model: Maritimo 73 Cruising Motoryacht

Maritimo 73 Cruising Motoryacht is the Aussie builder new flagship, extending the length at over 13 feet to the previous larger model. Weighing at 52 tonnes, the new large Maritimo stretches out to more than 24 metres. The Maritimo 73 Cruising Motoryacht is the largest vessel ever built by the company and was unveiled to the world at the 2009 Sydney International Boat Show. Everything about the new large Maritimo, is big from the spaces on board to its equipments and systems. Standard power is a pair of Caterpillar C32 1550 hp. Further optional engines are smaller C18 Caterpillar offering a more economic to run 1000hp each. The huge C32 Caterpillar engines gives the 73 Cruising Motoryacht a top speed of 36 knots and an all time cruise of 30 knots. Smaller Cats C18 1000hp engines option will top 28 knots. Caring for the engines will be no problem, with the 73 Cruising Motoryacht having a meticulous engine room offering full height headroom and ample space for routine maintenance procedures. Accommodation all on the lower deck is a four double cabin with three heads. The owners master suite located mid ship features his and hers en-suites heads. Dining table, saloon and large galley are all on the main deck. New Model: Galeon 700 Raptor

Another exclusive PowerYachtBlog preview thanks to our friends at Galeon, who finally launch there new much waited flagship 700 Raptor, pictured above in its first sea trials. The 700 Raptor continues the collaboration of Polish largest leisure boat builder, with renowned designer Tony Castro. The hull below water line shape is a further extension of the 640 Fly model. The 700 Raptor follows ultra modern Sport Yacht concepts of offering, a fully enclosed or open main deck at the touch of a button due to fully automatic opening patio doors, hard top and windows. Below deck is fully reserved for the accommodation offering four double cabins with three shower heads. The master cabin located mid ships is extremely spacious with a king size double berth looking to the length of the boat, and a break fast table settee for two with relaxing chaise lounge. During sea trials hull number one performed extremely well, achieving a 34 knots top speed with crew and full fuel load with the standard twin 1224hp MAN engines. A further more powerful engine option of twin 1550hp engines is available. The optional engine choice should achieve wide open throttle speeds close to 40 knots.

Projects: Alcyon 52 Fly, Alcyon 50 Open

Alcyon Yachts is a new French company who presents two Power Catamarans projects both of important sizes and concept, the first pictured above is the 52 Fly. The design of Alcyon here concepts a 52 feet catamaran finding a balance between curves and tighter lines. The hull is studied for a speed of 45 knots with very good stability. The interior of the 52 Fly is planned with a two or three cabins layout. As expected from a catamaran the main deck is very large. Power for the 52 Fly will be from twin Cats C9 Acert 575hp each, which will give an estimated top speed of 45 knots and cruising of 35 knots. Range is 500 nautical miles. Construction is also of the best materials with the use of Carbon and Kevlar.The second project of Alcyon is the 50 Open. This is a more aggressive or as the builders say offering an offshore and fighter looking design. The interior of the 50 Open has three cabins, owners cabin to fore, a double guest cabin to starboard, and a single which can be used for a crew to port. The central cockpit and its glazed roof which is treated for anti ultraviolet rays offer a panoramic vision. The lounge on the deck has generous and welcoming settees. To make the fitting of this 50 Open complete, a large sunpad lies aft on the wide quarter deck and two others to fore. Power is same as the bigger 52 Fly entrusted to twin Cats C9 575hp each, which propelled with SDS3 Surface drives will give a top speed of 48 knots and a cruising of 35 knots. Range is 550 nautical miles, and construction is the same advanced ultra light and strong Kevlar, carbon material as the bigger sister.

New Model: Astondoa 150 Steel

The Astonoda 150 Steel, is the Spanish builder biggest build to date. A three decker super yacht, the 150 Steel takes a lot of forms and shapes from the smaller Astondoa models, creating a nice family feeling and recognition to the brand. Sure using designer Christian Gatto, who did the latest releases from the biggest Spanish builders did help, but none the less this was a wise choice which gives a nice identity to the product. The 150 Steel was previously born as the A138GLX, before being extended and included in the new Astondoa Mega Yacht range. The 150 Steel is the first to be launched in this new range from Astondoa which will follow up with a smaller 120 Steel and a bigger 183 Steel. Accommodation of the first 150 Steel, has four guest cabins in the lower deck, with the owners stateroom on the main floor. Crew berths are four or six in the lower deck, with a further double cabin for the captain on the upper deck by the pilot house. Power is from twin MTU of 2010hp each, which give a max speed of 16 knots and a cruise of 12 knots at 70% power.
