The MasterCraft 300 is unveiled today at the Miami International Boat Show, with a lot of buzzing going strong for this move from the renowned ski boat builder. Mastercraft is happily thrilled with the interest people are showing in what is calling the world's first twin-tip day yacht. Mastercraft has not passed much detailed information, but gave a clue for a 4 berth interior. Hull details show a vee shaped hull with a 2o degrees mid and 16 aft. Fuel capacity is a 757 litres fuel tank, that is a lot considering the 33 feet over all length of the new big Mastercraft 300. Engines have not been announced. Should be interesting to see how this compares with other builders especially American ones, and what new solutions have been used apart the squarish bow and radical exterior shape. May be someone have seen it today and can comment more about this.

New Model: Maritimo C55 Sports Cabriolet
Maritimo’s C55 Sports Cabriolet is the new addition to this Sport Yacht range introduced in 2008. As is now well known, Maritimo took a dramatic course change last year when it introduced the fabulous C60 Sports Cabriolet. Unveiled for the first time last May at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and again a star attraction at the Sydney International Boat Show a few weeks later, the C60 as it’s known, has received ‘rave reviews’ in Australian and international boating media. Now, as the company expands its range to meet market demands, the C55, an equally stylish craft that is simply a more compact example of the C60 is released. Despite being more than a metre shorter and two tonnes lighter, the C55 offers the same beam and accommodations and with fuel efficient Cummins QSM 11 diesels delivering 670hp each, will give the C60 a run for its money too. The C55 will cruise effortlessly along at a cruise speed of 25 knots and is capable of hitting close to 30 knots at wide open throttle. Her main saloon, obviously smaller than that of the C60, remains luxurious and efficiently planned, with a well equipped galley and easy access aft and to the accommodations forward. The master suite is again cantered amidships with a VIP cabin forward and supporting cabins port and starboard featuring bunk berths. It takes also a really keen eye to discern the difference between the C55 and C60, although buyers will notice the difference at the cash register.

New Model: Integrity 55 Flybridge
Dubai builder Integrity Yachts presents its 55 Flybridge launched in the fall of 2008. An interesting motor yacht which competes in a highly battled market segment size. The Integrity 55 Flybridge comes where luxury growth was at a massive rate in recent years, so seeing builders with a good product from the Middle East is just the result of an always increasing boating population. The Integrity 55 is a nice design offering the recent conventional layout for boats this size, that of a main deck reserved for the saloon, dining, galley and a lower deck for the accommodation. Lower deck surprises, offering in its 16 metre plus length a 3 double cabin 3 head layout, of which two en suites for the owner and VIP cabin, with the third being a mix between a day head and third cabin usage. Should be among the smaller yachts in this size to offer a three cabin and head layout, without loosing the much requested full beam owners cabin and the big view windows. Performance wise the 55 Flybridge has a top speed of 31 knots and a cruising of 28 knots with the big twin Volvo D12-800 option. None the less this an interesting offer from a Dubai builder, showing that they are not just letting the renowned brands take over there market, but already to compete on an international level with a high quality product.

New Model: Innovazioni Progetti 46 Alena
Italian builder Innovazioni Progetti present there new 46 Alena, replacement of the 44 and introduction model to the enclosed hard top Alena range. As followed since the introduction of the 56 Alena flagship, all the models from this new smaller 46 to its bigger sisters follow a distinct similar style in the exterior and interiors. The hard top coupe concept has been a successful virtue of the bigger Alena's, and this new 46 follows forth here too with easy patio doors closing the upper deck, but also the much appreciated galley up solution leaving the lower deck for accommodation purposes. Accommodation is for 2 spacious cabins both with en-suite head, and the owner cabin being a full beam mid-ship affair. Power and propulsion is Volvo twin IPS600 forward facing pod drives with twin 435hp each.

Engine: Yanmar 6CX530 530hp
The new six-cylinder 6CX530 is a further addition to Yanmar Marine’s range of electronic control diesel engines. At 837 kilograms dry weight it is the lightest in its power class, well over 200 kilos less than some comparable-size units. It is the only 7.4 litre diesel available for the pleasure boat market. The common rail injection system used has been designed specifically for the 6CX530 by Yanmar’s engineering team and the package is completed with a Yanmar-manufactured gearbox. Power output is 530hp (390kW) at 2,900rpm. The power-to-weight ratio is 0.63mhp per kilo. It has the same dimensions as its predecessor, with height of 933mm, length without gear 1,340mm and width 886mm. The latest EPA and RCD emissions regulations are met in full.
New Model: Marex 370 Aft Cabin Cruiser
Norwegian builder Marex presents a fabulous new boat with the 370 Aft Cabin Cruiser, filled with innovative unheard features that really set her apart in her size, and much deserved takes also the price of European Powerboat of the Year during its World debut in Dusseldorf show few weeks ago. The 370 Aft Cabin Cruiser is a boat which hits you with its beauty too! It is a Sport Cruiser that makes you feel on a bigger boat with solutions unseen in this size and not only: like the aft cabin layout, its hard top which is so well proportioned, and last the deep all round side decks. Yes you can start saying for 11 metres it has it all and much more. Accommodation layout works well too anywhere and anyplace. The forward lower deck is reserved for the master cabin with island double berth, and two separate rooms for the head and shower for maximum privacy and flexibility. On the other end you have the fabulous aft cabin offering a double and a single berth with a nice expandable table in between too. The aft cabin also overwhelms you with natural light thanks a moulded window up top. Main living of the boat takes center stage under the hardtop with a c-shaped settee dinette and galley opposite. C-shaped settee has also a transformable forward part which thanks to simple movement of the back rest becomes a nice view forward lounging seat in navigation. The area above the aft cabin which is part of the living has also a nice spacious sunbed. Power and propulsion is where Marex gambles the most taking the economical choice of a single engine installation, a Volvo Penta D6 of 370 or 435hp. While this may seem unusual for an 11 metre I remind that a double engine installation looses 30% of its power! Add that number in fuel consumption costs and double it for maintenance and this choice will seem an easy one too. For the propulsion Marex uses a traditional reliable straight shaft, but also here the Norwegian builder breaks the rules being the first European production builder to use the famed Seatorque shaft which give reduced noise, vibration and an 8% in performance efficiency versus a conventional system.

Project: Bertram 800
A new chapter in Bertram history, as this legendary US builder introduces the 800, soon to be new flagship of the fleet and its largest built to date. After years of advanced research and development, Bertram has decided to take luxury to the next level and build a sport fishing yacht of remarkable proportions, leading its range into the future of sport fishing. The 800 will deliver extreme power performance of a sport fishing vessel while exuding ultimate luxury, adhering to customer requests from all the world for various uses that are preferred in a broad range of countries across the globe. Bertram 800 will feature new technology, like advanced forward and hull window design that is constructed with multiple layers of tempered glass. The forward window design actually brightens the interior of the salon while the hull windows are reinforced directly into the fiberglass hull for optimal hull strength. This state of the art window technology was exclusively designed and tested by Advanced Yacht Technology to resist the roughest fishing conditions across the oceans. At high speeds, the rapid formation and collapse of vapor pockets from the water can cause cavitation, a common cause of structural damage to propellers for any boat manufacturer. AYT has successfully identified how to modify the struts in order to dissipate cavitation's, thereby minimizing maintenance issues, gaining better fuel economy and enhancing engine performance. The 800 will also feature the exclusive ARG Anti-rolling Gyro technology, suppressing rolling motion and reduces rolling angle by up to 50 percent, enabling guests to enjoy smoother and more pleasant rides. In order to maximize all space on board and create more comfortable living space in both the interior and exterior of the yacht, the 800 has been designed with a generous, extended cockpit that provides ample space for many activities or entertainment on board. The cockpit is configured for an L-shaped mezzanine lounge seating with a fixed cockpit table, becoming an essential entertainment and relaxation area. A supplementary day head will also be integrated into the main salon level for easier use from guests in the cockpit. This yacht will be endowed with beautiful white oak wood as a standard and optional exotic African mahogany for the interiors. The ultra luxurious full beam master will offer sweeping views with its large porthole windows, which surround the master suite. The 800 will feature a four cabin layout and will offer multiple optional plans for the master staterooms than can be customized upon request. Layouts offer multiple crew cabin quarters that can also be modified. The first, an aft crew cabin for two, can be accessed from the cockpit with additional entry to the engine room. Second optional crew cabin is located forward of the galley, which is perfect to accommodate a hostess, or personal chef. For those who would rather opt for extra storage space, this optional crew cabin can also be converted into a large walk-in pantry. This Super Sportfish vessel will be built for supreme sport fishing and Bertram is known to make fishing a comfortable experience, providing a fully equipped yacht for all needs. Longitudinal fish boxes will be placed next to the fighting chair to easily store any catch of the day and larger rod locker storage on the port side will be incorporated under the spiral staircase for access from the cockpit mezzanine area. Outer Reef launched the new 63 model in the fall of 2008, what is an interesting addition to this US builder feel big medium range explorer yachts line, presenting here a comfortable live aboard interior offering an upper deck of spacious proportions, and a lower accommodation area with 3 cabins and 2 heads. The inside of the 63 welcomes you in the lounging saloon with an l-shaped settee to port with opposite 2 movable chairs, up 2 steps you find a well sized open plan galley to port, and further to fore you come to the interior small ship like helm station with a central single seat with lounging 6 people l-shaped settee behind it for guest views during the navigation. In this fore part of the main deck you also have the two stairways for the cabins and the flybridge. Standard lower accommodation deck features a mid-ship full beam en-suite owners stateroom, a VIP cabin to fore, guest head and a third bunk cabin. Saying all this it is worth to note that all this is semi custom, so what you read above can all be changed really to suit your needs. An interesting feature of the 63 is also the low to the water fish fighting deck aft, surely more appreciated by US buyers then European ones, who like fishing normally as much as they love boating. Power for the 63, is by twin Caterpillar C9Acert 503hp, which give a 20 knots top speed and max all time cruising of 17 knots. While the Outer Reef 63 can be driven at lower economical displacements speeds, the above surely is not bad at all especially when your barometer starts heading down and you want to take your beloved ones in harbour. The 63 is Outer Reef current smaller model, but a 58 and 60 are in building schedule and if the feel big properties like wide side decks and comfortable aft and forward decks are your thing this builder surely deserves a top look.
