Project: Columbus Crossover 42

The Columbus Crossover 42 project comes from a design by Sergio Cutolo of the firm Hydro Tec for exterior and naval architecture, and interior by Francesco Guida.  The Crossover 42 stems from the need of housing large tenders on a rather compact forty meter super yacht, and at the same time endorsing the lifestyle that equates to a yacht on which to concentrate all the holiday activities. The 42 is the smallest model in the Columbus’s Crossover modern explorer work boat inspired super yacht series which features two other 51 and 57 meter projects. All guest suites and entertainment areas are located forward, leaving the aft section free for an up a tender up to eight meters in length and 2.5 tons in weight and other large water toys. When cleared and with bulwarks folded down, guests can hang out in the open-plan beach club with pool and unobstructed view, as an alternative to enjoying the sundeck and upper deck.  The Columbus Crossover 42 overs five guest cabins which includes a master stateroom on the forward part of the main deck, and four s suite on the lower deck.  Crew accommodation is for seven in four cabins located forward of the lower deck.  Powered by twin Cat engines with a full displacement hull the Crossover 42 reaches speeds up to fourteen knots, with a cruise of twelve, and long range capability up to four thousand nautical miles at ten knots.  The first Crossover 42 has started construction the past May 2022 in Savona and is set to launch in Spring 2024.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SD90

Launched in Summer to a design of Zuccon the Sanlorenzo SD90 is the new entry level of the Italian builders SD semi displacement traditional ship looking fiberglass super yacht range.  The SD90 is also the smallest Sanlorenzo SD ever made replacing the Francesco Paszkowski designed SD92 which debuted the range in 2007 and sold 24 units in a production lasting twelve years.  This new SD90 is not the replacement of the 92, that model was replaced by the slightly larger SD96 which debuted in 2020.  Similar in size there is certain distinct features between the two small Sanlorenzo SD divided by two meters in length.  For example the bigger SD96 is a semi wide body, this new SD90 is about twenty% wide body serving only the master cabin located on the forward part of the main deck, and with this being unnoticeable from the outside.  This is made thanks to the raised flush deck located forward, which apart giving a traditional twist is also a novelty for this type of super yacht.  The new SD90 seems also to be a four cabin layout only yacht with the plans available thus far, although I am sure if someone would ask nicely Sanlorenzo might find a way to make five, with four cabins in the lower deck version of the yacht, since the standard layout has three rather big suites in the lower deck.  The Sanlorenzo SD90 is powered by twin Man 800hp as standard with optional 1200hp engines available.  Sanlorenzo has up till today six SD90 in build.

Project: Arcadia A96

Presented during an online press conference, Arcadia has revealed project details for its upcoming A96 model, a triple deck super yacht currently under construction and set to launch in mid 2023.  Arcadia says the A96 design is a cross inspiration between its entry level Sherpa and A for super yacht series, although the first renderings do make it look a much polished offer, different to the other Arcadias both smaller and bigger.  The Sherpa A96 will sit in between the A85 first model of the brand launched in 2010 and delivered in fourteen units up till today, and the A105.  Having a distinctive look to other Arcadia yachts it seems Francesco Guida the designer of all previous Arcadias is not involved in the A96, with Igor Lobanov credited for the interior.  The top deck design is distinctive Arcadia design language though, while the lower deck is a more stream lined affair looking cleaner and similar to other offerings in this size, with a less Arcadia utilitarian look. The Arcadia A96 will offer guest accommodation for ten guests in five cabins including which is an owners stateroom on the forward part of the main deck.  Aft deck space while a bit less open to the other Arcadia's is still possibly the most spacious in the category, which can also be increased thanks to four flipping bulkheads, two aft, and two optional at midship which serve as balconies to the inner saloon.  The Arcadia A96 is to be powered by quadruple Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp engines with IPS pod propulsion which according to estimates will give a 24 knots top speed, a sixteen cruise giving a  600 nautical miles of range, and a long range of 2000 nautical miles possible at ten knots.  Arcadia means also clean energy, and the A96 is solar power enhanced and able to store 4.5kw of power and or eight to nine hours of silence without the need to use a generator for running onboard utilities.

New Model: Riva 130 Bellissima

The sea is now a more beautiful place, forty metres length overall more beautiful to be precise, after the launch of Riva 130 Bellissima hull number one in La Spezia for an American owner. In Riva’s 180th anniversary year, the legendary Italian name has launched its largest fiberglass build to date, and a new flagship for its flybridge range. With a planning hull and over forty metres in length overall and a magnificent fusion of fine design, naval engineering, expert craftsmanship and high technology. Riva 130 Bellissima is the first planning flybridge in the range to extend across three real decks, with a semi-wide-body design, while remaining under 300 GT. The brainchild of Mauro Micheli, founder with Sergio Beretta of Officina Italiana Design, the firm that has designed all Riva’s yachts since 1991, who  working in partnership with the Strategic Product Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. Carbon fibre, steel and glass are the distinctive features of the exterior styling. Riva 130 Bellissima is characterised by three simple lines along the silhouette: the windshield is made with spherical crystals and features the typical counter-curvature, while the hull window design is based on a black line that runs along the silvery side of the boat and rises towards the deck. Extensive glazed surfaces highlight the abundance of natural light that floods into the settings on the main and upper decks, offering magnificent panoramic views and gorgeously light-filled interiors. Aft, the all-glass fashion plates enhance the aerodynamics of the yacht and tell a story of appeal and elegance. The air intake grills and carbon fibre detailing are a reference to traditional car design, while the hard top brings dynamism and style with its sporty personality. 130 Bellissima exteriors introduce a new concept for the stern area, which is lower, open to the water, and divided into a large Beach Club and a generous cockpit: over sixty square metres of liveable space. The jet ski, tender and seabob are stored in the port hull side. In the bow, the owner is accommodated in a spacious area divided into a lounge, a large sun pad and other more intimate, private spaces. On the upper deck where the outdoor area in the stern is set up as a dining area seating ten, the side walkways create two closed, private balconies. Above this is the sundeck, an area where guests can be invited for cocktails in a relaxing atmosphere. Riva 130 Bellissima’s interiors feature a main saloon surrounded by glass and light, with an unimpeded 270-degree view and ceilings over two metres high: a one-of-a-kind space featuring an interplay between fine glass transparencies and polished rosewood. Clever use is made of the full beam, measuring almost eight metres. The cabin layout puts the master suite on the main deck and four cabins on the lower deck, separated by a large lobby and all with en-suite bathrooms. Riva 130 Bellissima is powered by twin MTU 2638ph engines, giving a top speed of 22 knots and a cruise twenty.  Currently Riva has seven more 130 Bellissima in build with order book going into 2026.

Project: Sunseeker Ocean 460

The Sunseeker Ocean 460 is a tri-deck yacht project with a round-bilge semi-displacement hull. Whilst part of the Ocean range of models, it is also a superyacht, the first Sunseeker to feature a vertical bow and with a beam of over nine meters she has 25% more interior volume than her sister ship the 131 Yacht, thus paving the way for a completely new design philosophy for the next generation of superyachts coming from Poole. Rather than using the boat’s length within its model name, the Ocean 460 references its gross tonnage figure, the measurement of a yachts interior volume. While this is a new naming convention for Sunseeker, it truly captures why this new model is so unique. It reminds the owner that they are gaining a significant increase in interior volume in a yacht measuring 42 metres, compared with a conventional yacht layout of a similar size. The Ocean 460 is available with MAN 2000hp engines providing a maximum speed of 21kts and a range of 3,200nm at a cruising speed of circa 12kts. Optional hybrid options will also be available offering a myriad of benefits from extending the range, a period of silent running or delivering the hotel load whilst at anchor. Sunseeker has designed the Ocean 460 with discerning clientele in mind, understanding that customers are spending more time on board, both underway and at anchor, with increased comfort and quality of life of supreme importance. The new Ocean 460 will benefit from reduced noise, more usable space and the very latest technologies. She also boasts some of Sunseeker’s most sophisticated interiors to date with numerous options for owners to fully customise their yacht. The interiors are a close collaboration between Design Unlimited and Sunseeker’s in-house interior design team and are understandably sumptuous. The first impression is one of light, space and detail paired with premium technology and an infinite choice of dĂ©cor and lighting to suit the mood, increased with subtle lighting integration. The styling is an evolution that is reassuringly Sunseeker, with the yacht exuding sophistication with decadent touches, seamless room transitions, and the very finest woods, leathers and fabrics to create a bespoke personality for each individual owner.

New Model: Posillipo Technema 90

During the Cannes 2022 boat show Rizzardi returned the Posillipo brand to the scene with the new second generation Technema 90 model.  Designed by Galeazzi the second generation Technema 90 is based on the previous 2009 launched first series hull sold in two units.  This new Technema 90 gets updates coming everywhere making and bridging difference ten years plus of yacht design have made.  The most noticeable differences are the windows, both in hull and topside, the radar arch hard-top which now is forward looking, revised stern layout, and the open bulwarks which give undisturbed views from inside the saloon area.  There is also substantial technical differences in the new Technema 90 hull, modified to be fitted with active stabilizers and designed to run economically and comfortably at slow cruise speeds. Its good to see Posillipo back as technically speaking this name founded in 1942 reached near Riva status, especially with the fiberglass build Martinica and Tobago models of the end seventies, and the Technema series which re-invented yacht design in the eighties.

Project: Wider Moonflower 72

Nauta Design and Wider are very pleased to announce the start of the construction of the Moonflower 72 project, an innovative superyacht equipped with latest generation of the Wider hybrid propulsion system, a trademark of the Italian yacht builder. In early 2021 Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design in Milan, and Marcello Maggi, who heads up W-Fin Sarl, the holding Company that owns 100% of Wider equity, met up and reciprocally updated their respective projects, constructions and outcoming plans for the future. Nauta was looking for a builder for a superyacht project in the 70 meter length range and attention turned to Wider as the proposed builder. The two veterans of the superyacht industry immediately saw eye to eye, and soon after the preliminary design package was shared with Wider. That led to an agreement between the client, Wider and Nauta which consisted in signing a Letter of Intent in early September 2021 and a contract in January 2022. The exterior styling reflects Nauta’s trademark preference for clean, uncluttered design without fussy or superfluous detailing. Visual lightness, seamless outdoor/indoor connections, predominantly horizontal lines and the extensive use of glass, highlight the balanced proportions, while the chamfered sheer line amidships adds a dynamic aspect to the displacement hull. An exterior highlight is ‘The Island’ feature patented by Nauta Design, an expandable aft deck/beach club with folding bulwark terraces that provides a single walkaround space allowing guests to move freely from one side of the yacht to the other, either from inside beach club or from the open aft deck. The Moonflower 72 will be equipped with the Wider hybrid propulsion system comprising two variable-speed generators of 1,860kW each and a sodium nickel battery bank of approximately 1MW. As usual for Wider, the use of the latest innovations and technologies to be in harmony with the sea and the environment played an important role in this project too. Considerable attention has been paid to the recovery of energy dispersed in the form of heat from the electrical propulsion system, as well as optimising the operation of the onboard amenities to increase efficiency and reduce consumption by using AI to automatically learn the habits of owner, guests and crew.

Projects: Sirena 35M, Sirena 42M, Sirena 50M

The Istanbul Turkey based shipyard Sirena has announced its aim to extend further and larger into super yachting going beyond its current 88 flagship, which has so far sold in ten units. As a natural progression from the shipyard’s existing four models which start at eighteen and currently go up to 26 meters, Sirena aims to go larger offering more comfort, top-quality amenities and next-level cruising performance, so here comes a new superyacht line which so far includes three models measuring; 35, 42 and 50 metres respectively.  Unlike the smaller Sirena build of fiberglass the new super yachts will be constructed in steel and aluminium at the shipyard’s Istanbul-based facility, with all three featuring eye-catching exteriors by Italian designer Luca Vallebona and naval architecture by Van Oossanen from the Netherlands, with the interior designs of each vessel fully customisable to meet the requirements and desires of each individual owner.  As a consistent feature throughout the new range, Sirena’s superyachts have been specifically designed to offer owners and guests voluminous areas of onboard space ideal for socialising. Amenities include fold-out wing decks, multi-level gathering spaces equipped with plunge pools and sun-pads, as well as deck areas which have been carefully laid out for safe and convenient access by both crew and guests. Another notable feature of all of the the three super yachts in the new Sirena line can be found in their prioritisation of the owner’s privacy and comfort, which clearly feeds into the innovative layout of the new superyachts. As a truly forward-thinking company, Sirena Yachts has once again shown itself to be tuned into the desires of the latest generation of superyacht owners through its new superyacht line, listening carefully to the desires of the market and responding in kind.

Project: Sunseeker Ocean 156

Following the success of the 90 Ocean, with sixteen units sold just one year after its presentation, Sunseeker presents the project for a smaller entry level 24 meter Ocean 156. Titled 156 as in volume gross tonnage this Ocean 24 meters project follows the philosophy of the 90 model offering a larger feeling of space than other super yachts of its size, and flexible to design options.  Sleeping eight or ten guests, the Ocean 156 offers three main deck layouts, and will feature a completely enclosed upper deck with single helm station up top. The upper deck is also asymmetric, full body to starboard and offers a Portuguese deck forward of the helm station, with this space offering a forward C-shaped dinette, but can be customized with sun pads and or spa tub options. The main deck saloon will have all around panoramic views owed to the full height and vertical glazing surrounding all the area, and can be customised in three different arrangements; aft galley, main deck master stateroom forward, and or mid galley.  Beside the standard aft patio door, the Ocean 156 will have port, starboard, and forward doors on the main deck.  On the lower deck, the full beam master aft features ample storage, a vanity desk and connecting en-suite with twin basins. In a standard configuration, the lower accommodation comprises of a forward VIP and two guest cabins with an optional sliding berth cabin accommodating additional guests in comfort. There is also option for crew accommodation forward of the engine room with appliance block and worktop space for self-sufficiency. The lower deck just as the upper deck features flush level floor between all cabins. The Sunseeker Ocean 156 is to be powered by Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod propulsion and is estimated to reach top speeds up to 23 knots.
