Posillipo New Web Site

Posillipo presents its new web site.  Posillipo was founded in 1942, although before these years it was called first Posillipo of Gallotti, of Marcello Pane, and then of Turrini, these names representing the names of the master builder who were managing the boat yard located near the caves of Posillipo to the West of Naples, where in reality boat repair and building have existed since decades if not centuries before.  In 1950 the shipyard of Posillipo was acquired by Doctor. Casa and Count Giovanni of Campello who will start serial model production in 1951, launching its first production model the Positano runabout speed boat in 1952.  In 1960 Posillipo will move to a larger dedicated production facility and boat yard in Sabaudia, in province of Latina, some seventy nautical miles from the place which gave the name and the brand, and what will be its home till 2012.  In 1969 Posillipo will launch the Aruba 25 model, its first fiberglass construction. Posillipo will make the seventies a mixed decade building both in wood and fiberglass, and moving slowly to full production in the new plastic material method by around 1979.  In 1972 following financial difficulties Posillipo is taken over by GEPI; Gestioni e Partecipazioni Industriali, a Public Finance founded by the Italian government that helps valid industries restructure. This restructuring is followed by the launch of the Costaguta designed Tobago 47 and Martinica 42 models in the fall of 1973, a high moment for Posillipo with the flagship of the time 47 Tobago model being its best selling to date fibreglass model.  Posillipo will hire Giovanni Zuccon in 1978, who will design the forward thinking Technema range onwards from 1978, starting with the futuristic 65 model which debuted in that year, and ending with the second generation 65 which launched in 2002. The Zuccon designed Technema line will launch some innovative models, but probably it's most important is the 52, which was a sixteen meter flybridge yacht destined to shape the future of things to come in motor yacht design.  In 1990 the USA Nouri Group, lead by Dennis Michael Nouri falls in love and buys Posillipo, only to re-enter financial difficulties towards the end of 1991 due to the luxury boat tax by both the Italian and USA governments, with Gianfranco Rizzardi taking over the brand in the start of 1993.  Posillipo will close in 2012, when the Inrizzardi Group enters financial difficulties, and reopens again in 2016.  Today Posillipo is offering two models; the 90 which was updated from the 2009 presented unit in 2022, and the upcoming 78.  Posillipo new website takes you around with the following buttons; Company Info, Privacy Policy, and Cookies Policy.

New Model: Posillipo Technema 90

During the Cannes 2022 boat show Rizzardi returned the Posillipo brand to the scene with the new second generation Technema 90 model.  Designed by Galeazzi the second generation Technema 90 is based on the previous 2009 launched first series hull sold in two units.  This new Technema 90 gets updates coming everywhere making and bridging difference ten years plus of yacht design have made.  The most noticeable differences are the windows, both in hull and topside, the radar arch hard-top which now is forward looking, revised stern layout, and the open bulwarks which give undisturbed views from inside the saloon area.  There is also substantial technical differences in the new Technema 90 hull, modified to be fitted with active stabilizers and designed to run economically and comfortably at slow cruise speeds. Its good to see Posillipo back as technically speaking this name founded in 1942 reached near Riva status, especially with the fiberglass build Martinica and Tobago models of the end seventies, and the Technema series which re-invented yacht design in the eighties.

Project: Posillipo Technema 90

Posillipo is back and present the project for a new Technema 90 model. This is an evolution of the Technema 90 released in 2009, designed by Carlo Galeazzi and reportedly sold in two units in 2009.  The new Technema 90 is added with a new integrated open hard-top over the flybridge, while the view windows in the saloon become larger.  Hull windows have also been added, replacing the traditional port holes of the previous model.  Details are not yet communicated for the accommodation layouts or performance, but the 2009 Technema 90 had an accommodation for eight guests in four cabins plus two crew cabins.

Classics - Posillipo Technema 52 (1986 - 1992)

It is always a challenge to make the Classic post!  Do you choose the top selling model, or the one which changed the industry and gave a new step to the name it represented.  For the Posillipo Technema 52 launched at Genoa boat show in 1986 it was both!
The 52 was one of Posillipo's most popular models, and twenty years over its stop in production it represented the Technema look of the future selling 27 units World wide, in a not so long at the time five year production run.  Interesting numbers when one notes that the Technema 52 was also one of the most expensive production fiberglass build flybridge motor yachts in its size, costing when launched in 1986 at 700.000 US$ ex factory.  To put this cost into perspective a whooping 20% more then a Riva 50 Super America HP.  Interestingly the Posillipo Technema 52 will sell more then its Riva competitor, reason being the much space it offered in all areas, three double cabins versus two, and its spacious unique at the time twin level saloon.  Fair play the Posillipo was also about a meter bigger, and featured bigger engines.
Posillipo and its then designer Zuccon created the new age with the Technema 52 a motor yacht which was already in the future in the mid eighties, and was inspirational to nowadays modern looks.  Giovanni Zuccon started his yacht designer career with Posillipo in 1978 with the Technema 65 (68) and ended his collaboration with the South Rome builder twenty one years later with a 65 Technema second series he designed in 1999, named as 63 in project stage and launched in 2003.
A decade later to its launch it could easily be said the Technema 52 reinvented yachting in 1986 with its outside profile different and very modern, looking from the future to everything else, yet elegant and sleek. Soft curves appeared on every corner and its split level main deck house while looking modern helped expand interior spaces without looking heavy on the length. The hull also brought a unique design with the wing chine giving a unique distinctive in the future powerful look.  It is no strange that Posillipo never stopped using the unique winged Technema hull from that day onward in the models which followed the 52.
Giovanni Zuccon was also thinking views from the inside to the outside in the Technema 52 and the profile windows serving the lower part of the saloon could offer that to guest just by sitting on the couch. The technical part also had a deeper study see large air intakes integrated in the main deck just before the window, which could not be seen unless you are looking at the Technema 52 from the front.
In the end the Technema 52 is as much about Posillipo as it is about the genius that Giovanni Zuccon was showing at the time and will show more of into the future. For example in that same year Posillipo also launched his designed Technema 83, which also featured a fore deck C-shape settee arrangement, with other designers and builders catching with this from 2002 onward.
Zuccon will eventually join Ferretti in 1990, which interesting to know offered the bigger competition to the Possillipo Technema 52 with it's then Ferretti 52 Altura S, selling in high fifty plus numbers at a same time and date production run, and a less expensive price tag.

New Model: Posillipo 90 Technema

Posillipo new 90 Technema, was presented at the recent Genoa show. This was the first double deck design from naval architect Carlo Galeazzi for the Posillipo range prior to the raised pilot house styled 95 Technema his first job for the renowned Italian builder, and the 120. This design has received so much positive feedback that it was immediately followed by the 75 Technema also launched this year. Posillipo and Inrizzardi challenge to Galeazzi was to create diverse volumes and define a new equilibrium of continuity in evolving the formal design language of earlier 95 and 120 Technema, but also to follow on the Zuccon 80, 70, 65 Technema's. Following these philosophies the 90 Technema has superstructure lines that are soft, taut and angular at the same time enhancing dynamism and the functionality of interior spaces, with large aft and forward windows expanding horizontally in opposite directions to overlap centrally. The standard interior layout is a classic four cabin plan with all rooms having a personal en-suite head. The 90 Technema has also a day head on the main deck just behind the pilot house. Crew quarters has two cabins located mid ship, with this area having direct access to the engine room. As has become a constant theme in new yachts over seventy feet the 90 Technema features a forward dinette on the fore deck. An other cool but unseen feature is the availability to offer two large C-shaped settees on the flybridge with one for dining and another for lounging. Hull number one of the 90 Technema had also some optional features like an up and down bathing platform aft, an integrated hard top, and a free area on the flybridge which is used to sit four free moving chaise loungers. Performance as all Posillipo Technema is always fast with MTU choices of 2000 or 2400hp giving top speeds of 31 and 33 knots respectively.

New Model: Posillipo 75 Technema

Posillipo continue to update and upgrade its Technema line of motor and super yachts which span from the smaller 65 and go the recently launched 120 flagship. The latest addition to this range is the new 75 Technema designed as the recent 95, and 120 by Architect Carlo Galeazzi. The 75 Technema, is the smallest and fourth model of the newer Galeazzi styled models. Posillipo owners Inrizzardi Group gave some important notes to the designer most importantly to create a family feeling with the status symbol brand, and secondly to create a motor yacht with spaces found on a larger vessel. Galeazzi surpassed the yard expectations creating a format with similar settings as found on a 90 foot boat, albeit a bit smaller. Below deck, is a standard four spacious cabins all equipped with private bathroom and shower layout. There is two crew cabins which feature a direct access to the food store, located on the main deck. The ample owner’s suite, located mid ship is characterized by a separate dressing area and by three ample sized vertical windows present on both sides. On the main deck, in addition to the large living room, connected to an eight person dining area, there is a comfortable day head placed behind the helm station to guarantee privacy. An unusual setting in this size and something normally found on a bigger boat. In the external styling of the superstructure, while maintaining the family feeling of the most recent Technema's, Galeazzi stressed a dynamic character while accentuating a wedge shape, with the twin lateral living room windows set apart, as opposed to the preceding models, where they were perfectly symmetrical and facing each other. This style effect gives a strong visual impact, with a perception of a more modern and aggressive design. The flybridge above offers a large C-shaped settee, the aft part is a free area set for the use of chaise lounges, while to fore in addition to the external helm station, there is a large sun lounging area protected. Powered by twin MTU 1635hp, the Posillipo 75 Technema has a respectable top speed of 33 knots, and an all time cruise of 29 knots which gives a range of 430 nautical miles.

Project: Posillipo 75 Technema

The 75 Technema is the new project for renowned motor yacht and super yacht builder Posillipo. Carlo Galeazzi continues his design duty for the Italian builder, with his touch creating fabulous models for Posillipo and at the same time continuing to amalgamate the family feeling of this prestigious brand as in the previous three launches he did which are the 95, 120 and 90. In this new project, the idea from the builder and designer was that to make the 75 Technema the most spacious yacht in its size category, with the usual performance of around 30 knots associated for the Posillipo brand. Outside Galeazzi follows the usual aggressive classic lines, this time more accentuated with the shape of the saloon windows, having an aggressive shape and profile. Inside the layout is a classic and spacious four guest cabins theme, with a very big full beam owners cabin with full view windows, offering also a full walk in wardrobe, changing room. The main deck is divided with the usual classic Italian layout, offering a c-shaped sofa upon entrance, dining table for 8, separate galley, l-shaped settee to fore, helm station to starboard and the much requested day head, this later not much found on yachts smaller then 25 metres in length. Sea kindliness and performance is always a Technema heritage, and the 75 will sure not disappoint on both, touching speeds of 33 knots and cruising at 29 knots with twin MAN 1635 hp each. A slightly slower option with twin 1550 hp will be also available. Range is 470 nautical miles, with 29 knots cruising and a full 7500 litres fuel tank.

New Model: Posillipo 120 Technema

New flagship of the legendary Posillipo shipyard is the much waited new 120 Technema. Presented as a project, in 2006, Architect Galeazzi was trusted to design the new flagship, following his work for the yard on the successful 95 Technema model, launched in 2004 and delivered in over 10 units. Galeazzi upon starting the project had only one recommendation from the shipyard, that to develop the Posillipo Technema style in perfect harmony, following the tradition and history of the brand. A style recognized from miles away since the yard was founded in 1942 and then increasing it's popularity thanks to innovations like the lateral hull wings and wrap around flybridge windscreen as seen on the legendary 52 Technema in 1985. The new Technema 120 is a planning super yacht of two and a half decks, with a forward full beam section, and forward walking deck next to the command deck, all characteristics that are usually found in bigger yachts. Standard accommodation plan is a five cabins layout with owners suite on the main deck, with an alternative version with a second lounging saloon, replacing owner stateroom on the main deck available. As is in all Posillipo Technema yachts, from the small 65 to this new flagship, the builder follows a highly custom and personal project putting owners wishes into reality. Powered by two MTU of 3650 horsepower each, new 120 Technema has estimated speeds of 29 knots, with cruising at 26 and a range of 900 nautical miles.

Boat Review: Posillipo 65 Technema

Presentation
The Posillipo 65 Technema is the smallest offer from this renowned builder and was presented during the 2002 Genova Boat Show. This model follows the family feeling for this historical Italian brand, with the inimitable Technema hull and it's particular wings and a conservative yet modern superstructure based on the lines of the 70 and 80 models, designed by renowned architect Giovanni Zuccon. It replaced previous 67 Technema in production from 1994 to 2000, which was the first new unit produced by Gianfranco Rizzardi after the take over of Posillipo in 1993.
Accommodation
The smallest of the Technema models has just one duty in it's mind, offering maximum space and comfort in a luxury appointed 3 cabins interior for the owner and his guests delivering the best in spacious environments and comfortable cabins. The interiors follow what is today a common layout with owners cabin located mid ship, VIP cabin forward and the third guest cabin with two single berths located to starboard in between. All cabins are equipped with there own en-suite heads, with particular spaciousness and superior size for the master and VIP cabin with both featuring a bidet but also a separate shower. A separate 2 berth crew cabin is located forward for maximum privacy for the guests and crew.
The living area of the 65 is also equipped of what is an area of high comfort in a classic two floor area. A big c-shaped saloon fully equipped for socializing and entertainment welcomes you to the inside of the motor yacht, while a second c-shaped settee located forward to starboard of the main deck is the dining area which is joined to port by the main interior helm station. The galley on the standard version is a separate offer as preferred by Southern European clients, but if preferred it can be ordered in an open layout.
The exterior spaces offer a spacious aft deck giving the feeling of a much bigger boat, as do the deep all around side decks. The flybridge area has a spacious c-shaped dining area for Al-fresco dining while a 2 person medium sized sunbed is located forward of the settee to port. While the showed plans offer the standard layout, Posillipo offers a high range of customization and can be ordered to request unlike most of the competition in this size range.
Performance
The Technema hull is renowned for superior sea keeping standards over other deep vee shapes, and is a status symbol of Italian design being introduced by Posillipo in the early eighties with aggressive profiles accentuated by the stylish wings which give a particular dry ride without the need of a high ride. The 65 Technema hull shape is a deep vee, with a 13 degrees aft dead rise offering distinctive performance with top speeds of 33 knots and a continuous cruising of 28 knots, giving a range of 330 nautical miles with the bigger engines option.

Competition
High competition in this size range, showing just how much demand has been growing. If one had to look back ten, fifteen years you would have had a smaller and different builders list with only Italians and USA builders. One thing striking tough is how much the Italian influence shows up in this size, not only as the main brands for this type of yachts but also the design influence they have had over the years. It is really clear to passionate people who have a certain experience to them, just how much the Italian design shows up, with the little exclusion being for the Hatteras 64.
Aicon 64 Flybridge - the Sicilian attack, close call to perfection, 4 cabins option
Astondoa A 66 GLX - Spanish build, Italian design, spacious saloon
Azimut 62 Evolution - low profile sport flybridge, open plan saloon
Carnevali 65 - all around curved looks, plenty of different layouts options
Dominator 68 - modern design with classic conception, plenty layouts to choose
Horizon 64 Elegance - semi planning hull, tender garage
Fairline 68 Squadron - latest comer from UK, big flybridge and master cabin with office
Ferretti 630 - classic modern, galley area aft of the saloon makes it a winner
Hatteras 64 Motor Yacht - USA med touch, feels big, 4 cabin option
Fipa Maiora 20 - classic, similar concept with Posillipo but higher customization
Princess 67 - another British contender with great clean looks
Sunseeker 60 Manhattan - 64 ft overall, main saloon all for entertainment
Uniesse 65 MY - 2007 model saloon with 3 areas, 4 cabin is standard
VZ 64 - replaced classic VZ18 in 2006, space is luxurious and welcoming
WILD CARD: Mochi 64 Dolphin Flybridge - lobster flybridge, spacious aft cockpit space
Conclusion
The Posillipo 65 Technema really ticks the boxes where it matters most, with generous performance and a bigger boat feel which is for sure one of it's higher selling criteria. Surely it is not the most innovative motor yacht in the twenty metre range, but Posillipo yacht buyers are usually the type of experienced yachtsman who have seen it all and done most, and are more looking for a timeless classic conservative design that is out of the actual fashion schemes and does not feel dated after the next fashion trend.

Project: Posillipo 90 Technema

The legendary Posillipo which is among the most respected and historical Italian yacht building companies, continues to upgrade it's range with the introduction of the new 90 Technema model. Standing between the latest introduced 85 and 95 Technema models, the design for the new 90 follows the family feeling shown for the Posillipo flybridge yachts, developing the distinctive Technema winged hull and joining it to a very aggressive but classic contemporary super structure. The interior layout is available with an eight or ten berths option. Crew accommodation is a three cabin arrangement with 2 heads. Power for this model is provided by the latest MTU engines at 2000hp in standard form, with a faster 2400hp option available for the owners seeking more speed. The new 90 Technema is build under pleasure yacht Class rules with the restrictive Cross of Malta construction standard and as all Posillipo models the interior is custom build to order as owner desires.
