Project: Tiara 50 Flybridge

The 50 Flybridge is Tiara's second new model for 2014, and as the lines suggest it is a model based on the 50 Coupe.  Going aboard the 50 Flybridge should be much of the same of the Coupe, which is not a bad thing, since the model from 2013 created quite a stir for its entertainment and accommodation areas in its launch. Its when you go up the port side stair case which takes you to the flybridge that things change and you have a second accommodating deck up top. The flybridge of the 50 offers a central settee with back and forward positions. Forward is a central helm with double settee, plus double companion seats on the sides.  A wet bar is located behind the double helm seat. The 50 Flybridge will be available as rendered above with radar arch and hard-top, or in a more classic near back in time sport-fish fully open configuration. Power will be twin Volvo 725hp engines with forward looking IPS pod drives.

Class One - Vee One - Italy Grand Prix Race Two

Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella produced a breath taking performance to take their first win together in C1 at the team’s home Grand Prix, with Aquasport’s Daniel Cramphorn and Nico Huybens producing a totally dominant performance to win in V1.
Lining up in first and second at the start, Victory and LFF10 delivered a sensational opening lap with Fendi and Carpitella stealing the advantage from the pole-sitters immediately and leading them to the first turn, then holding them off in a nail biting run to the start-finish line as the two closed on each other and just inches apart going into turn one of lap 2, LFF10 coming out in front.
From that point LFF10 were able to maintain the upper hand, the gap between them fluctuating as they took their long laps. LLF10 was eight seconds clear by lap 7 when the defending World Champions and race 1 winners suddenly slowed to a crawl, Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi limping round for two laps before retiring from the race with a broken drop box.
For the remaining seven laps Fendi and Carpitella were out on their own and after 25 races together delivered the victory they had been waiting for, taking the chequered flag to win by over 30 seconds. “It was an amazing race for us and we won it with a great start and to win at home is an incredible feeling. Today we showed that Fendi and Victory are at the same level,” said Luca Fendi. “We gave respect to them at the first turn and left them space. They came out on the inside with a bit more speed but we pulled it back and were side-by-side and Giovanni said to me, just go for the corner.”
With Victory side-lined the fight for second place was between Relekta-Zabo-Isiklar and Abu Dhabi who traded place behind the leaders. Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski passed Abu Dhabi on lap 3 and held them off until lap 7 when they conceded position, and after the next six laps and with a 20 second advantage it looked as though Gary Ballough and John Tomlinson were on course for a second podium, but on the final lap Abu Dhabi slowed after running out fuel, Relekta-Zabo-Isiklar gifted second place.
Third place went to Guido Cappellini and Mikhail Kitashev in New Star-Poliform, running in eighth for eight laps but taking advantage of the retirees ahead of them to take their third podium of the year, with outgoing European Champions Miles Jennings and Alfredo Amato finishing fourth.
After seeing victory slip from their grasp yesterday Aquasport’s Daniel Cramphorn and Nico Huybens made up for it today, going quickest in qualifying this morning and delivering an emphatic start-to-finish victory over Chaudron and Tommy One. “No gremlins for us today, it was a perfect race,” said driver Daniel Cramphorn. “When you get out front you can run the race you want, take the turns how you want. We had no traffic to worry about after our early battle with Chaudron, and the boat ran perfectly. This win is for Mike Fiore.”
Second place after yesterday’s retirement was enough for Aaron Chiantar and Dominique Martini to clinch the V1 European Championship, with another retiree from race 1 Tommy One rewarded after a late night working on the boat, Maurizio Schepici and Stefano Bonanno moving up from the back of the field to take third. “We didn’t have the best set-up today and Aquasport was very quick so we knew that we just had to get round in second to win the title which we are very happy with.” said Aaron Chiantar.
Karelpiu’s Antonio and Giuseppe Schiano, another team to work late into the night on repairs, held off a race long challenge from Bernico-New Star to take fourth, with Silverline, who had been running in third, finishing sixth after a spin out.

Project: ISA Yachts 44 Yara

In close cooperation with Omega Design and Van Oossanen Naval Architects ISA Yachts has developed a 44 meter all aluminium fast displacement yacht called the Yara, Brazilian word for water lady.  ISA came up for this new project with a few imporant notes; top speed of 24 knots possible up to 30 with optional engines, 3900 nautical miles range at 13 knots, and a Bahamas friendly less then seven feet draft. The 44 Yara will offer a unique layout with large outdoor entertainment on the main deck creating 50% more usable space than traditional layouts. Optimized for the modern yachting lifestyle. The 44 Yara will also feature a new patented fast displacement hull form combining the efficiency and comfort of a displacement yacht with the speed of a semi-displacement yacht. Based on the same engineering, there is also a 48 meter version under development. The accommodation plan is for four guests below; two VIP and two twins, and an owners stateroom on the main deck. the 44 Yara will also impress in its crew accommodation which will be MCA certified and among the biggest in its size.

Class One - Vee One - Italy Grand Prix Race One

Victory and Bernico-New Star took race 1 honours in a dramatic and incident-filled first race at the Grand Prix of Italy, which was stopped after a first corner spin-out by Tommy One after the start lap, forcing officials to bring out the red flag.
Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi were in control of the race, leading the C1 boats onto the second lap ahead of LFF10 and Team Abu Dhabi when the race was called to a halt.
Bernico-New Star, Chaudron and Aquasport were the first V1s to cross the start-finish line and were through turn one when Maurizio Schepici and Stefano Bonanno hooked and span out forcing Karelpiu’s Federico Montanari and Antonio Schiano to try to take evasive action but they were unable to avoid a coming together and damaging their drives, both boats unable to continue.
There was more drama before the restart with Championship leader’s Aaron Chiantar and Dominique Martini pulling off the course and limping back to the pits, a broken turbo charger belt ending their race, a broken propeller on lap 1 ending Germany’s Siegfried Greve and Udo Gross’ race.
From the restart pole-sitters Victory again resumed complete control and were never put under any pressure, moving 15 second clear of LFF10 by lap 5, going on to win comfortably by 27 seconds to seal an eighth European Championship for the Dubai based team. “It was comfortable for us from start to finish,” said Nadir Bin Hendi. “We didn’t need to push too much and made sure we took it easy to save the engines for tomorrow. There is more to come, whatever the conditions tomorrow.”
Local favourites Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella in LFF10 were able to fend off the threat from Team Abu Dhabi but maintained P2, apart for a brief spell when they and the front runners took their long laps conceding the place to teammates Miles Jennings and Alfredo Amato who went on to finish fifth, to grab their first podium of the year, but the race was far from easy for the all-Italian duo. “It was a nightmare race for me and Luca,” said Carpitella. “We had a big fuel leak from the start and the fumes inside the cockpit were unbelievable. My eyes were stinging, it was hard to see, breathe and at times keep conscious. Then we lost instruments, no trim indicators no RPM so we just focussed on getting to the finish line.”
Gary Ballough and John Tomlinson produced just the comeback result Team Abu Dhabi was hoping for producing an impressive performance to take third place, a third podium for Tomlinson with the team and a first on his C1 debut for Ballough. “We’re happy with that, glad we brought it home and in good shape,” said Tomlinson. “It was a good fair race with Fendi, they left us room when we needed it. Now we have to work on one or two things to pick up the pace for tomorrow.”
Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski were unable to repeat the podium success they saw in Ibiza, bringing Relekta-Zabo-Isiklar home in fourth, and there was disappointment for New Star-Poliform’s Guido Cappellini and Mikhail Kitashev, retiring immediately after the restart.
With the top three boats in V1 side-lined before the restart, the Championship race had been blown wide open and Bernico-New Star, Silverline and Aquasport capitalised on it and produced a brilliant race, the trio swapping places throughout.
Aquasport’s Daniel Cramphorn and Nico Huyben’s led from the restart but were overhauled by Nico Bertels and Frank Hemelaer in Bernico-New Star on lap 3 and a lap later by Silverline’s Ian Blacker and Drew Langdon.
The leaders then raced side-by side for the next two laps with Silverline piling on the pressure and passing the race leader on lap 5, but two laps later Bernico New-Star came again and made the decisive pass going on to take a brilliant win by 2.86 seconds to move to the top of the Championship standings. “We are back in the title race and after all the trouble we’ve had this is a great result and I have to thank all my team,” said a delighted Nico Bertels. “You know it’s races like this when a couple of teams really start to push each other that you get great racing and the feeling after is unbelievable.”
Despite missing out on the top step, Drew Langdon was more than happy to pick up a second podium in two races. “It was a great race but they got the last bite of the cherry,” he said. “They could out turn us and were awesome in the corners. We had a trouble free run and we know these guys, you can race close without any problems. We got them a few times, but not at the right time, but hats off to them.”
Third place for Aquasport was their best result this season and puts them back in the title race. “We still have some gremlins to iron out, but happy with the result but of course would have loved to have hung on to the lead,” said Daniel Cramphorn. “We had an engine that kept causing us issues so we now have to try to solve the problem, but we’re right back in the fight.”

New Model: Heesen 42m YN 17042

Heesen is proud to announce the launch of YN 17042, on Friday 29th August, at their facility in Oss. During a private ceremony the Owner christened his new vessel M/Y Alive.  Equipped with under water foil, technically called Hull Vane YN 17042 represents a dramatic advancement in performance. The sub-sea wing harnesses waves to produce power; this combined with the fast displacement hull and conventional diesel engines produce remarkable results. This has been proven during independent research conducted by Van Oossanen Naval Architects at two of the world’s most respected hydrodynamic laboratories: Wolfson Unit and Marin.  The new Heesen 42 meter is 35 per cent more efficient than any other yacht of her size and 35 per cent less power is needed to produce almost 16 knots top speed in flat sea conditions. In seas with up to two meter waves, rather than hindering her performance, the yacht’s Hull Vane technology converts the movement and generates 20 per cent more thrust and comfort is improved as the pitching is reduced by 40 per cent. Like an aircraft, as the yacht moves through water, the wing produces lift. This patented Hull Vane technology converts this movement into thrust. YN 17042 allows her Owner to prioritize economy and speed. With an exceptional range of 4.000 nautical miles, over 750 miles come free of charge thanks to her remarkably frugal fuel consumption that is 30 per cent less than on a conventional displacement yacht. The bold exterior lines of M/Y Alive have been created by Frank Laupman from Omega Architects, who is also responsible for her interior design. Laupman has created a new bow design that combines a lower hull profile, and matches sea keeping behavior with a relatively short overall length.  YN 17042 can accommodate up to twelve guests in the outdoor and indoor convivial areas. The 45 square metre open sun deck is perfect for relaxation throughout the day. The yacht boasts two large suites: the first traditionally located on the main deck forward, and the second one on the wheelhouse deck. The latter is a spectacular circular room with a centred king size bed, ensuite bathroom, dressing room and gymnasium. The central positioning of the bed allows stunning, uninterrupted views of the sea thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The 30 square metre aft terrace is equipped with a breakfast table and lounge seats, completing the functionality of the Owner’s deck.

Project: Azimut Atlantis 43

Its a new project from Atlantis, the new 43 which will replace the 44 in the entry more young brand of the Azimut-Benetti Group. Designed by the team of NeoDesign the Atlantis 43 strikes most of the competition for having one of the most functional cockpits in its size. Look at the L-shaped galley wet-bar and it is difficult to believe to be found on a sport cruiser measuring just thirteen meters. Extendable sun-pad aft, and a forward looking passenger seat to port side of the helm station which becomes a chaise lounge are also other interesting traits. Below the spaciousness continues and the 43 surprises for a spacious L-shape galley located to starboard of the entrance stairs. Two cabins are available for guests; owners room to fore and a twin / three berth guest room amidships. The midships cabin two single berths, can also become on the occasion a double berth. Engines will be twin Volvo 400hp with stern drive propulsion and an estimated top speed of 33 knots.

Class One - Vee One - Italy Grand Prix Preview

Victory and Chaudron top the standings in the UIM C1 and V1 World and European Championships and head-up a 13-strong line-up for the European title decider at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix in Terracina.
Following back-to-back wins at the Mediterranean GP in Ibiza in September Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir bin Hendi head into round 2 with a healthy 13 point margin over New Star-Poliform and Relekta-Zabo-Isiklar as they go in search of the team’s 100th chequered flag, with defending six time World Champion Al Zaffain closing in on eight time World Champion Steve Curtis’ long-standing record of 42 race wins.
Italy’s Guido Cappellini will be looking to build on a very encouraging double podium in New Star-Poliform at the season-opener alongside C1 rookie Mikhail Kitashev, the first Russian competitor in C1, and at least targeting a repeat of the team’s second place in race 2 in Terracina last year.
Zabo-Relekta-Isiklar’s Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski head there with a score to settle and looking to lay-to-rest the ghost that saw their maiden GP win literally evaporate when they ran out of fuel within sight of the chequered flag last year. In Ibiza, as is becoming increasingly typical of the Norwegian-Turkish outfits spirit, they overcame the odds that were stacking up against them after suffering two broken gearboxes, but after lengthy repairs they delivered two hard and well-earned podiums.
Italian outfit Fendi Racing will run a revised line-up in their number two boat with last year’s European Championship winning duo of Miles Jennings and Alfredo Amato teaming-up for the first time this season, Amato stepping in to replace Tarik Oktem.
But Jennings and Amato and the team will require a minor miracle if they are to retain the title it won in dramatic fashion last year with Jennings and Amato’s last lap win in race 2, the defending Champions heading into the weekend staring at a 31 point deficit, their teammates a further four points off the leader Victory, who look to be on course to lift an eighth European crown.
Giovanni Carpitella, Fendi Racing team principal and throttleman of LFF10 alongside owner-driver Luca Fendi, has confirmed that the gremlins that side-lined LFF8-Polimersan last time out have been resolved and that the team will arrive in Terracina from their base just a stones’ throw up the road at Nautica Badino well loaded with spare parts, aiming to avoid the issues that simmered between them and their supplier after breaking a gearbox in race 1 and sitting out race 2 in Ibiza.
Fendi and Carpitella proved in qualifying in Ibiza when they shared the quickest time with Victory that they have the pace and will be hoping for a trouble free run this weekend to challenge for the win.
After the unfortunate first corner crash in race 2 in Ibiza Team Abu Dhabi’s newest generation MTI is repaired and will be on the start line in Terracina but the question still to be answered and 100 percent confirmed, as speculation mounts that a driver change may be on the cards, is who will be in it, the likely candidates are American aces John Tomlinson and Gary Ballough.
In V1 the title race is a much tighter and intensely competitive affair with just five points separating the top three and looks to be a three-way dice between Chaudron, Karelpiu and Tommy One, all three outfits boasting World Championship pedigrees with the next four boats Aquasport, Bernico-New Star, Nassau and Silverline split by just two points.
The opening races of the season delivered some impressive performances with three different manufacturers Chaudron, Fountain and Metamarine locking out the top three slots and more of the same can be expected in Terracina.
But it is Malta’s triple World Champion Aaron Ciantar and French Champion Dominique Martini who hold a slender advantage and lead by two points after a third and a comprehensive start-to-finish unchallenged win last time out.
They can expect to be pressed by the consistent all-Italian Karelpiu who rotated crew in Ibiza with father and son duo of Antonio and Giuseppe Schiano and Federico Montanari lining up in Terracina on the back of two podium seconds.
Both Chaudron and Karelpiu know that they will more than likely have to fend off the mighty Tommy One, the powerhouse of the V1 class, sitting in third spot after Maurizio Schepici and Stefano Bonanno’s impressive win in race 1 in Ibiza.
If there is a challenge to come from the chasing group of four all will have to up the ante, but it may well be the all-British pairing of Ian Blacker and Drew Langdon who could get into the mix and the only other crew to make the podium in Ibiza, but they have a 20 point deficit to overturn.
The first opportunity for teams to get out on the circuit are two practice sessions on Friday, followed by qualifying and race 1 on Saturday with a second qualifying session and race 2 on Sunday.

Project: Kadey-Krogen 68 Expedition

In 1993 Kadey-Krogen introduced the revolutionary Whaleback 48 featuring a full-beam saloon and, topside, a large central pilothouse. To this day, the Whaleback enjoys a cult-like following for her voluminous interior accommodations and transoceanic capability. In 2007 Kadey-Krogen launched the 55 Expedition as the big sister to the Whaleback 48. Now Kadey-Krogen as part of its new drawing board going bigger plan is pleased to introduce to you the 68 Expedition, an explorer yacht that can readily be handled by two people and will be available in two lower deck layouts; mid-master or master forward arrangements either with three or four cabins.  But the choices of the 68 Expedition will not stop inside and also continue outside and in other areas. Three exterior profiles choices; standard as above, with flybridge, and flybridge plus extended upper deck. The 68 Expedition also features two pilothouse layout choices. As usual important numbers, 71 tons at medium load and eleven thousand liters of fuel show what the 68 Expedition is about, a full displacement long range explorer yacht.

Project: Sundeck 550

Sundeck is a new Italian boat builder with a solid base of experienced people from the nautical sector behind it. The company has recently presented three interesting projects; 550, 700, and 850 all of which are designed by Italian naval architect Maurizio Zuccheri. The 550 project has a familiar looks for those who navigate around Italian waters, as this model does resemble in many ways a previous Zuccheri project that of the 53 Maine by the today closed shipyard Estensi.  Choice will be an important element of the 550 with three options available for the main deck, to four options below. The different layouts are endless and Zuccheri did look for every possible alternative; from a four double guest cabin plan, to a three bedrooms plus office, or a two cabins with enclosed lower galley option. Same goes for the main deck with the option of an astern galley, or a twin saloon plus dining plan. Power will come from twin 450hp engines which should give max speeds of 24 knots, and a cruise from 12 to 20 knots. Range will be a max of one thousand nautical miles at the most efficicent cruise speeds and consumption of 2500 liters of fuel.

blogger - The Union

It was a rumor coming from Cannes and published on an Italian online web portal Themeditelegraph, but the news is that some of the big European builders are making a separate Union. The names mentioned in this new organization are Azimut-Benetti Group, Baglietto, Beneteau Group, and Sunseeker.
The creators of this new association seem to be the two Italian companies, who are trying to gather support. It would be interesting if the landscape of countries changes to that of a continent who defend there high interest of a more production orientated nautical industry. With national agencies such as BYA, or UCINA for example, British and Italian association respectively the interest of the small companies is always a concern.
Surely this Union if it happens can be extremely beneficial to the large companies who will be in it and gain leverage in the boat shows they attend and the attraction they bring.  But this will leave small and medium sized builders taking the hit, and leaving it with the national market and if that is in crisis, then it is hard times ahead.
At this stage caution is paramount, but it is interesting to see if this happens and who will be its members if it does. What will be the reaction of the national builders association of the various countries involved.

Ferretti Wins Most Innovative Award

Ferretti Yachts, the iconic brand of the Ferretti Group representing the excellence of Made in Italy boating industry, has been awarded with an important international prize, celebrating one of its most recent jewels. The flagship Ferretti Yachts 960 has been awarded as the “Most Innovative” yacht during the Gala organized on the occasion of the “World Yachts Trophies” Award, assigned by the French publisher Luxmedia Group at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2014. At the awarding ceremony, which took place on 13th September at the enchanting plage of the Intercontinental Carlton hotel in Cannes, the flagship Ferretti Yachts 960 has been awarded with the Innovation prize in the category including the best models presented in 2013 and 2014 between 80 and 120 feet. The panel decided to assign this important award to Ferretti Yachts 960 specifically for the introduction of the aft floodable garage, which allows launching the tender in an extremely easy and safe way. Thanks to this system, which does not require the use of a davit, allows the guests to enjoy wider spaces and makes the operations of the crew easier. This much-appreciated innovation has contributed to the positive sales trend of this model. 8 hulls have been sold in just one year, therefore leading the Group to install this solution on the latest models presented in Cannes. For example, on the brand new Ferretti Custom Line Navetta 28, further enriched by the Dual Mode Transom, the double movement door, which is an exclusive patent by Ferretti Group. The award obtained at the “World Yachts Trophies” by Ferretti Yachts 960 joins the Motor Boat Awards 2014 in the “Custom Yachts” category, the award received in January on the occasion of the London Boat Show. This success confirms the international appreciation for this yacht, resulting from the collaboration between Studio Zuccon International Project, AYT&D - Advanced Yacht Technology, the R&D department of the Group, and Centro Stile, which perfectly matches elegance, sportiness and remarkable performance with an innovative distribution of spaces and a cutting edge design.

Riva New Custom Steel Range is Born

“Building in fiberglass is undoubtedly easier than building in wood. Building well, though, is difficult.” Paraphrasing this statement made by Carlo Riva in the late 1960s by replacing the word fiberglass with the word steel would be enough to summarize the inextinguishable drive that has always pushed the iconic brand of worldwide yachting towards the future and innovation, heading for perfection. Because this is Riva's DNA: it was in the past as much as it is in the present. Today, the brand has chosen one of its most beloved locations, Montecarlo, and particularly the charming Aquarama Lounge, on the terrace of the Yacht Club de Monaco, to announce that it is ready to seduce the world once more, making its debut in a market segment to which its reputation has naturally led it and to which it has ideally always belonged. Riva is announcing the creation of its new full custom line in steel, which, starting off with a first 50-meter long project, followed by a second 68-meter yacht, will develop further over the next few years to include a range of crafts up to 100 meters in length. Between the 1960s and the 1970s, Eng. Carlo Riva, through his Yacht Division, had started to 'think big' - first by cooperating with Northern European shipyards and building the famous “Caravelle” and “Atlantic” M/Y series; then establishing a historic partnership with CRN, thanks to which six motor yachts exceeding 20 meters in length in the “Marco Polo” series and two 90-foot and 100-foot “Vespucci” crafts were built between1970 and 1978. Today, his project turns into reality. And the baton, in this relay, has ideally been taken by 'his' Riva company, now a member of the Ferretti Group.

Riviera Searching for Master Craftsmen

Viking On The Go

The Viking Yacht Company was abuzz this week as the annual Dealer Meeting coincided with the 50th Anniversary Gala at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Monday kicked off the busy week with a welcome dinner for Viking Yacht dealer principals hosted by Bill and Patrick Healey. Tuesday morning brought a packed house to the business portion of the meeting with Viking's dealer network absorbing a wealth of information and new technology during the session. When the group broke, they bee lined to the docks and jumped on the spectacular fleet of Vikings that was waiting to greet them. Gray skies and gusty winds couldn't hold back the dedicated dealer network as they climbed aboard the boats and spent the day on sporty seas off Atlantic City. Skies were questionable when guests moved in for the cocktail and yacht viewing party but when the first model cruised down the dock, the sun and smiles broke out. The yachts strutted down the runway and concluded with the eagerly awaited Viking flagship, the 92 Enclosed Bridge. Over 300 people attended the gala dinner and everyone reveled in the telling of Viking history through colorful tales of the early days which were interrupted only by roars of laughter. Rudy Dalinger, Production Engineer, was recognized as Viking's longest tenured employee, hitting the 50 year mark this past September 2nd. A celebratory cake was brought out and Viking founding fathers Bill and Bob Healey,Sr., surrounded by their families, sliced the dessert for their customers, boat builders and friends in attendance. The night ended on a high note with the Viking Yacht Company lighting up the Atlantic City skyline. t didn't end there! The week continued with a steady stream of customers and sales professionals touring the Viking manufacturing campus. The tour's highlight was a trip to the sleek yet luxurious 75 Motor Yacht floating at the docks. Atlantic City also stayed busy with over 60 Viking sea trials completed during the week.

Viking Gives Vote

Former chair of the Coast Guard Committee, Congressman Frank LoBiondo, visited the Viking Yacht Company this week. After touring the New Gretna facility and taking time to talk with Viking employees, Congressman LoBiondo spoke about his staff's efforts for the recreational fishing and boating industry. Representative LoBiondo is working to ensure that we have pragmatic reform of the Magnuson Stevens Act, our nation's primary fisheries law. He also has introduced legislation (HR4005) to support a continued exemption for recreational vessels on incidental discharge of water.

Viking Progress Report

The ongoing project to enclose and enjoin Viking's manufacturing building is continuing on schedule. Plenty of behind the scenes detail work is completed like the underground utilities installation. Siding, trim and gutters are in place and the windows will be next. With the cool weather just around the corner, the crew is preparing to pour the first layers of concrete.

Viking Another 50th Anniversary

The Viking Yacht Company has been in a festive mood this past year as we observe our 50th anniversary...but we aren't the only one that hit the golden milestone! This month Rudy Dalinger, Production Engineer, celebrated 50 years with the Viking Yacht Company proudly making him the longest tenured employee.

New Model: Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht

The new 6000 Sport Yacht from Riviera takes the mantle as the most European looking of all the models from the down under boat builder, making a huge statement on the type of clients it wants to attract.  Taking the flagship role and replacing the 5800 of the Sport Yacht range, the 6000 is a fully enclosed hard top express, which makes the main deck the living part of life on-board. Latest design trends and more abound on the 6000 Sport Yacht. For example its aft deck rewrites the plan in a very original layout, with two settees; an L-shape dinette to port and chaise lounge to starboard located in a mezzanine looking outwards style. Originally the stern bulk head is reserved as a spacious barbecue wet bar area.  Inside we have an astern galley, C-shape dinette to port with sofa opposite, and a helm-station to starboard. Below deck space abounds on the 6000 Sport Yacht and presents a three double cabins three shower heads standard plan, or a four double cabin three heads optional layout. The fourth double bunk cabin located to port side takes space from a C-shape settee as featured in the standard plan. Very interesting is also the working room located in between the midships full beam owners cabin, and the engine room of which it features direct access. The Rivera 6000 Sport Yacht is twin Volvo 725hp powered, with IPS pod propulsion. Max speeds are 31 knots, with a 28 cruise, this giving a range of 268 nautical miles.

Project: Storm S-65

Storm Yachts from the Netherlands continues to fill its line up with interesting distinctive models. The S-65 is the third in a line-up which starts and with the just launched X-53 and expands up to one hundred feet. The X-65 model which is currently in construction in Holland features a fast displacement hull and is to be available in two different versions; wheelhouse and fly-bridge option.  The flybridge version adds an extra open air lounge up top plus a second helm station. Interior wise the S-65 will have a three double cabins with one of the largest owners midships stateroom in this size. She will be built of aluminum and features the patented FDFH hull. Top speeds will be a max of 22 knots and standard engines are twin Cats 715hp engines with ZF pod drive propulsion.

New Model: Elan 30 Power

Following the style of its predecessors 35, 42 and 48, once again Tony Castro manage to design a hard top family sports cruiser of recognizable sports lines, the Elan 30 Power. With just under ten meters in length and a generous beam, Elan Power 30 offers a large cockpit with galley, equipped with a variety of options: gas or electric cooker, and or grill plus an eighty liters fridge. A comfortable settee of a modern design accommodates up to six adults. With a fold-able table and an extra cushion the settee is convertible into a huge sunbed. One of the most prominent features of the deck design is a navigatorium, positioned on the starboard side of the helmsman, offering abundant space for charts. The hull of the Elan Power 30 is balanced to provide both excellent seaworthiness and enough volume to host interior spaces. Among a variety of engine options, Volvo twin 220hp configuration tested on the prototype gave the max speed of 37 knots. Thanks to the technology of laminating joints, predominantly between elements positioned within the hull, as well as the joint of hull and deck, this boat is compact enough to endure extreme weather conditions. Below deck, Elan Power 30 features standing headroom throughout. Interior of Elan Power 30 is not only equipped with modern furniture finished in oak wood, but is also very practical. The galley is divided into two working surfaces. The effect of comfort and spaciousness is intensified by two saloon ceiling openings, allowing a lot of natural daylight to enter the saloon. Two very spacious cabins, both with double berths, can accommodate four persons. Wardrobes and hanging cabinets of the front cabin are suitable for storage of personal belongings. Another luxury feature is certainly the head approachable from both master cabin and the saloon.

Twin transom gates lead to the hydraulic bathing platform and stern garage which can accommodate a four meter tender. The flybridge on the 30M is one of its many standout features with a flexible, modular seating system set beneath a hardtop with integrated sunroof and serviced by a full wet-bar. To the aft of the flybridge a spa bath can be accommodated in addition to free standing deck furniture.  On the main deck, the saloon can be configured to suit a clients cruising style with various seating and dining options available as well the choice to incorporate wide sliding doors which open to a balcony on the starboard side. The Master Suite is located forward and is complimented with a choice of three or four beautifully appointed en suite guest cabins on the lower deck.  The 30M is designed to allow the crew to operate discretely, with independent access away from guest areas a design philosophy shared with both the 35M and tri-deck 40M.  As with all M Class vessels the interior finish is dictated by owner's specific tastes and requirements. The Princess Design Studio is responsible for all M Class interiors and offers a very personal level of service and attention, with a dedicated consultant working with each owner to realize their perfect yacht. Engineering levels are also of the highest standard, including two 40kw generators, a comprehensive control and monitoring system and a full hydraulic system to power thrusters, stabilisers and the 30M's twin anchor winches.  Currently under development at Princess' South Yard Superyacht facility in Devonport, Plymouth, this exciting addition will join the M Class range in 2015.
