Baia New Web Site

Baia presents it's new website.  Founded in March 1961 at first named as Cantieri Mericraft in Naples, building wooden day speed boats.  In 1968 Mericraft will move in a shed at the sea-town village of Baia, to the West of Naples.  In 1971 the Capasso family, brings a wooden 27 meter sail yacht to refit at Mericraft in Baia, but after one year the works are not progressing as the boating sector is in big crises and the Mericraft workers go on work strike.  At the end of 1972 the Capasso family takes over the shipyard, renaming it to Cantieri di Baia - Mericraft.  The first model to come from the new ownership is the Kabul 9.90 meter flybridge cruiser, this is soon followed by the first of the legendary models which made the Baia story, the Pascia gozzo.  The seven meter Pascia is also the first fiberglass build from Baia and also featured an innovative hydraulic cockpit table which transformed the settee into a sun-pad.  The Pascia is followed by other iconic models, from the Jeroboam it's first sport cruiser, which brings the premises of the B81, which will be renamed as B40 and is Baia best selling boat to date, produced in 106 units in an eleven year production run.  In 1980 Baia also debuts the B33 the first production boat to use the surface drives propulsion system by Arneson.  In 1983 Baia launched another iconic classic, the B50 with hull shape designed by legendary boat builder and racer Don Aronow, with its under water shape very much dedicated to surface drives propulsion. Three years pass and the B60 one of the Worlds largest open sport yachts of the time is also launched.  A pursuit in larger size will take six years to come as in 1992 Baia goes above 24 meters and launches the B80, this is followed in the same year by the one off 105 flybridge super yacht for US client Ivana Trump, which is still as at today the Naples yard largest build.  In the end nineties Baia continues to show is innovative spiritt as it presents it's removable hard top system debuting in 1998 with the 48 Flash.  The removable hard-top system is followed on the larger models up the 73 Magnifica.  In 2003 Baia debuts its folding upwards disappearing patio door on the 78 Atlantica, this used on larger and smaller models.  In 2008 Baia produced the largest glassed hard-top in the yachting industry as it debut its new One Hundred flagship.  Baia has also always given great emphasis to competitions winning the following; 1990 Venezia - Monte Carlo with the B50, Viareggio-Monte Carlo-Viareggio 2007 with the 63 Azzurra, Viareggio-Monte Carlo-Viareggio 2008 with the 54 Aqua, and Powerboat Endurance Super Sport Class World title in 2010 with a sponsored Donzi Z-38. In Spring 2016 following the great recession Baia closes its doors, and after some years of speculation relaunches in 2024 Baia but moving its production to Pisa and debuting with the new Atlantica 84 model, and the project for an up coming Magnifica 112.  The current Baia range offers two models; the Atlantica 84 and the Magnifica 112.  Baia new web site is takes you around with the following buttons; Yachts, History, News and Events, and Contacts.  Baia is also is on social media with bottom page buttons taking you to its Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin pages.

Project: Dalla Pieta DP86 HT

Dalla Pieta present the project for a new DP86 HT.  Based on the DP80 which was produced from 2004 to 2008 in four units, the DP86 HT features differences in the fore deck, and aft deck layouts.  The DP86 HT will feature a four double cabins lower deck with crew accommodation for three.  The living is located on the main deck, while the galley located to port side, is to be found in a mid level layout accessible from the stair case which takes guests to the lower deck.  The Dalla Pieta DP86HT is to be powered by twin Cat 2200hp engines with line shaft propulsion for top speeds up to 35 knots.

New Model: Viking 64 SC

Viking launches the first 64 SC Sport Coupe, the latest evolution and largest build to date of the Sport Series line-up, and largest ever express build from the New Jersey Viking. Inspired by a passionate Viking owner and more than two decades of Sport Coupe innovation, the 64 SC is built on the proven 64 Convertible hull of which over forty have been delivered to date. This exciting addition is also available with a custom Palm Beach Towers tuna tower, giving owners two distinct profiles on the same high-performance platform, with the first unit ordered with a clean set up. From the helm's commanding sightlines to the SC’s aggressive, streamlined profile, every design element was driven by visibility and balance. The first hull is a galley-down three cabin configuration with cross-over forward stateroom that transforms the command deck into a spacious salon-style living area, with a galley-up version with four staterooms and three heads also being available. Galeon Yachts has released details of its latest 700 Sky featuring a brand new interior concept from Hong Kong’s InSitu Design and the Galeon Interior Design Team. Tactile marbles, textile panelling and warm woods have all been masterfully combined to elevate this successful model to the status of a mini superyacht. It marks the next step of Galeon’s journey with InSitu, which is actively working on a number of new models. This is the ninth hull of the successful Galeon 700 Sky to be built, but the first to feature the new interior design. Project: YOT 53 Inboard

YOT present the project for a new 53 Inboard model. The YOT 53 Inboard is the new flagship of the Catana power catamaran brand which debuted in 2023 with the 36 model, this followed by the 41 in 2025. Like all other smaller YOT models the 53 is designed by JNJ and is to be built do CE A category standards. The YOT 53 Inboard is available with three or four cabins lower deck layouts, with a crew captains cabin located forward. The living is all on the main deck with a central position galley located to port side. A massive flybridge covered by hard-top; offering large dinette, galley, and spacious sunbathing spacious forms part of a three exterior zone; the other two being the aft deck, and the foredeck lounge settee. The YOT 53 Inboard is to be powered by twin Yanmar 440hp as standard, and or optional 550hp.

New Model: Caribbean 40F Flybridge

Purchased by Maritimo in Summer 2025, Caribbean shows its new direction by debuting its first new model, the 40F Flybridge.  The 40F is a replacement to the Caribbean 40 Mk.II, a totally revised and enhanced flybridge cruiser developed as a crossover platform equally capable of extended coastal cruising, offshore game fishing, as well as leisurely family boating.  The 40F draws heavily on the qualities that defined earlier Caribbean flybridge cruisers, namely strong seakeeping, dependable handling, deep-V offshore performance, and practical layouts, whilst introducing a more refined and contemporary interpretation of the Australian offshore cruiser.  Its exterior styling features sharper flybridge lines, cleaner and larger glazing areas, a modern hardtop profile, and a more sophisticated overall presentation, without sacrificing the purposeful functionality for which Caribbean became known.  The flybridge access has also been thoughtfully designed. Instead of compromising valuable cockpit space, the ladder is neatly positioned within the awning envelope on the starboard side, leading through a dedicated hatch to preserve a clean, practical layout. Balancing this arrangement, the port side incorporates the fridge/freezer, and functional amenities such as a sink and barbecue are situated on the right-hand side under the ladder, creating a package that is equally capable as a serious offshore performer and an exceptional entertainer.  Designed for serious time on the water, the Caribbean 40F delivers expansive spaces due to a total rethink of the deck and cabin design, including the removal of the side elements of the forward-facing glass to allow for increased fridge and pantry space. The result now has more integrated solutions built in with wide and practical side decks, a large contemporary saloon arrangement, updated onboard systems, and a flybridge helm configuration engineered for offshore visibility and usability.  The Caribbean 40F comes with multiple configurations, allowing owners to tailor the vessel toward dedicated fishing applications or family cruising requirements.  Performance and offshore capability remained central throughout development, with the 40F engineered around efficient shaft-drive diesel propulsion with an emphasis on reliability, predictable handling, offshore range and comfortable cruising efficiency.  The Caribbean 40F is standard fitted with Volvo 440hp, with the first hull fitted with the larger option of twin 670 horsepower.

Sport Yacht Wrecked by Fire in Marina Botafoc, Ibiza

A 23 meter sport yacht named Lefty went ablaze in Marina Botafoc, on the island of Ibiza at around 17:00 of Monday thirteen July.  Ibiza fire fighters responded to the blaze, as nearby yachts were swiftly moved to avoid further damage.  The yacht was ultimately towed away from the berth, and ended part sank, and surrounded by oil protective booms.  The cause of the blaze is not reported, as the ownership has now been instructed to remove the yacht.

The yacht in this blaze is a 2001 FP Yachts Jaguar 24 Sport as designed by Paolo Caliari and produced from 2001 to 2007.  FP Yachts of Filippo Picchiotti was founded in 2001 and following financial difficulties and new share holding entry changed in 2005 will change its name to Italian Yachts and then close its doors in 2013.

Lefty became a famous yacht in Summer 2025 as it was chartered by famous Barcelona and Spanish national team footballer Lamine Yamal vacation in Ibiza.

Project: Saver 35 GT

Saver present the 35 GT project.  The 35 GT is Saver's largest model to date, and also debuts the new GT line for the Sicily made cruisers which are very popular in Southern Europe also for the very competitive quality/price offer.  The Saver 35 GT is a cross-over walk around sport cruiser type, offering a full beam cockpit with a forward raised deck for better accommodation in the lower deck.  The lower deck cabin offers a four berths accommodation plan with a double berth forward and twin berths at midships, galley to ports and shower/head opposite to starboard.  The Saver 35 GT can be powered by twin engines up to twin 600hp.

Two Saved as Princess Yacht Part Sinks in Ajaccio, Corsica

A seventeen meter Princess Yacht with two persons onboard partly sank near Sanguinaires, Ajaccio to the West of Ajaccio in Corsica on 14:30 of Sunday twelfth July.  SNSM station of Ajaccio who reported the accident on its Facebook page, after saving the two boaters started an operation to save the yacht with three pumps, with this resulting not successful, as the yacht was then towed and grounded at La Parata, before initiating a second towing to the shipyard to Charles Ornano, where it was lifted and salvaged.  The yacht part sank as it struck a fishing net, which pulled out its shaft and opened a water entry.

The yacht in this accident is a Princess 57 as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2003 to 2006.  The 57 was a replacement to the 56 and was replaced by the second generation Princess 58.
