Project: Beneteau Grand Trawler 63

Beneteau present the project for the Grand Trawler 63.  The Grand Trawler 63 is very much based on the 2022 to 2024 produced Grand Trawler 62 as designed by Massimo Gino from Nauta and naval architecture by Angelo Micado of Micad and produced in 27 units.  The noticeable difference of the Swift Trawler range flagship are the new larger hull glazing serving the cabins on the lower deck. But other comfort and technical updates have been made for this new Grand Trawler; from a redesigned helm station, improved sound proofing in the crew cabin, and a transition from hydraulic to the Xenta electronic system.  For the remaining the Grand Trawler 63 keeps the 62 features from a choice of three or four double cabins, and a full displacement hull which has a range up to 900 nautical miles at nine knots.

Sunseeker Yacht Collides Into Sail Yacht in Villefranche

A 22 meter Sunseeker sport yacht under British flag has collided into the twenty meter sailing yacht Nababbo in the bay of Villefranche sur Mer, at about 21:45 hours of Tuesday fifth August.  This news is reported on the social media Facebook and Instagram pages of Nabbabbo Yacht Charter, by Giulia the hostess and chef of the charter operation, which operates seven yachts from nine to 28 meters.  Giulia says that the Sunseeker yacht entered the five knots speed limited bay of Villefranche at planning speeds, without navigation lights and then collided into the port side of Nababbo, piercing its upper part of the hull but also hitting and damaging its mast, as the above picture shows.  According to Giulia it is a miracle that no one got hurt, as the Sunseeker yacht also had people on the foredeck.  The Sunseeker yacht sustained to what looks mostly cosmetic damage, and departed Villefranche later on Thursday seventh.
The Sunseeker yacht in this collision is a Predator 74 as produced from 2018 to 2022.  The Predator 74 was a replacement to the Predator 80, with the model replaced by the soft evolving Predator 75.

Mazu Yachts Founder Lost Following Collision Near Marmara Island

Post to be updated if news about the searches for Halit Yukay arrive.
Searches are ongoing for Mazu yachts founder Halit Yukay, as his eleven meter Mazu sport cruiser titled m/y Graywolf was founded severely damaged and partly submerged near the Island of Marmara on fifth August.  Later it was found out that the Mazu cruiser collided with m/v Arel 7 a dry cargo vessel which operates in the area, with the captain reporting to feel an impact at around 17:00 of Monday fourth August, and after observing two pieces of wood floating in the water, stopped the vessel and here also spotting a life buoy.  The captain of the cargo vessel said he informed the ships company but not the coast guard, and was later detained on suspicion of manslaughter through negligence and has since been released under judicial supervision, including a travel ban, as the Turkish Coast Guard reportedly discovered scrape marks on the bow of the cargo ship which indicate a collision with the sport cruiser.  Yukay departed on 15:10 of the fourth August with Graywolf from Yakova, for a stop in Athens to collect his wife and child, with Mykonos reported to be a next destination.
The Mazu in this collision is the Fortytwo model as designed by the same Halit Yukay and produced since 2017.  The Mazu 42 is mostly based on the 38, with the difference that it is a walk around sport cruiser with integrated T-top.

Sudden Storm Beaches a Dozen Yachts in Komiza, Island of Vis, Croatia

Over a dozen yachts were in difficulty and some ended beached as a sudden storm which peaked fifty knots of wind and dropped air temperature from thirty to 21 degrees, hit the Komiza bay, to the West of the Dalmatian Island of Vis, Split, Croatia on Sunday third August at around 19:00 hours.  All the yachts grounded seemed to be sail yachts and catamarans from ten to fifteen meters, with the exception of the above Aquila sixteen meter power catamaran which seemed to have ended in a difficult situation, as two sail yachts ended on his bow.  Two videos on social media, one from a super yacht anchored outside the bay on what looked a safer spot, and the other from the Aquila power catamaran showed the dramatical situation as it unfolded.  One sailing yacht was reported sank from the storm, but no reports of grievous injuries were reported.
The Aquila in this situation is a 54 model as designed by the Jacep and Jernei Jakopin brothers and produced since 2021.  The 54 has been a huge success for Aquila, with one hundred units being build thus far.

Projects: Dynamiq Global 450, Dynamiq Global 550

In a private event in Monaco at Maison Moghadam on third July Dynamiq presented its road map moving forward, with the showcasing of five projects.  Two of the projects presented were the Global 450 and Global 550, as pictured above and below respectively.  Both of these super yachts are designed by Dobroserdov for exterior, with naval architecture by Vripack, with interiors by British designer Mark Berryman.  Berryman has also been given duties to re-invent the interior of the GTT135.  Both of these 45 and 55 meters super yachts will offer similar basic specification; ten guests accommodation in five suites, and a top speed of fifteen knots, with a cruise of ten knots offering a 4500 nautical mile range for the Global 450, and five thousand nautical miles for the Global 550.
Dynamiq has always been about ultra modern cutting edge looking super yachts since the debut of the GTT130 in 2016, but this new Global 550 definitely brings something fresh and unusual to super yachting.  With its aircraft carrier looking profile the 550 is so different not only to other Dynamiq's, but also to the smaller sister's of the Global Series.  This Global 550 was first presented with an interior by Zrobim, and has now been presented with a new interior by Mark Berryman.  Dynamiq did not say if any of these yachts are under construction, but noted that if a future owner wants to present a different designer for the interior, they are happy to do so.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is considered the big thing of this decade, and for some of this century, a new technology designed to make our lives better.  The impact of what is referred in short as AI, is not understood, but many say Artificial Intelligence is big as when the internet arrived in the nineties, television in the thirties, and telephone in the second half of the nineteen century.

But as humans go, we tend to make the good of inventions into bad ones, and the problems of AI are starting to show.  From looking real but fake videos, to false wrong information, which many will say it cannot be not correct because it came from Artificial Intelligence.

As yachting goes it is very annoying to see looking very real fake videos on social media, of yacht accidents, but also other false interpretations.  Browsing on Facebook some week ago, someone was marketing a flybridge yacht, using false AI photos which had nothing to do with the yacht in question.  Imagine if you contacted this seller, and then you go see the yacht for real only to see a total different vessel.  Data information, which many say an area AI cannot make mistakes, is also not so accurate.  Again a couple of yacht designers said in a post on Facebook, that half of the information AI said about them was wrong.

For new boats the AI bug has not infected the marketing rooms as yet, though I can imagine its good use to show a rendering of a new project.  Renderings as I said in the past had already reached a very accurate detail.  But it is important that AI does not replace the real thing.  A genuine raw walk around video made with a mobile phone without the professional theatrics, is still better then a fake Artificial Intelligence walk through.

Real is Real, and no Artificial Intelligence or accurate three dimension can replace it.
