New Model: Benetti Class 132 Classic Supreme

The technical launch of the first Benetti 132 Classic Supreme was held on Friday, May 4th at the shipyard site in sea side town Viareggio, the new location deputed to the construction of the six composite models of the Class line, from 93 to 145 feet.  Following the customary preliminary steps, the yacht was launched into the water, a ceremony witnessed by technical personnel, workers, and all Benetti staff who oversaw outfitting and construction over the past months.  A mark of design continuity today lasting over a couple of decades, follows the new gem of Benetti's Italian style, and springs from a project with exteriors designed by Stefano Righini and interiors by Francois Zuretti who, for this first boat and following the owner’s indications to draw inspiration from a particularly contemporary style, creates a sober, elegant interplay between the oak natural shade, the warm wenge, and diamond pattern leathers and hide.  The outfitting includes the most modern navigation systems developed by the shipyard: from the innovative integrated wheelhouse to the exclusive BEST technology platform; Benetti Exclusive Sea Technology integrating all onboard electronics and systems.  The new 132 Classic Supreme, among the different design solutions, offers also a gym-area on the upper deck, carving out an exclusive space for the Owner and his guests to further relax.  The 132 Classic Supreme is not just a new model to complete the Benetti Class range; it is also the first model built and outfitted in the Lucca Dockyard, the company’s new 4200 meters squared plus facility. Located adjacent to the historic site in Via Coppino, this facility can simultaneously handle production of three megayachts of up to 140 feet, thus effectively doubling the current production capacity and concentrating production of the entire line in Viareggio.  Power for the new Benetti Class 132 Classic Supreme is twin MTU 1450hp which give a 15 knots, 14 cruise, and a 12 knots long range speed delivering a 3500 nautical miles range.

Project: Carver 36 Mariner

Carver yachts has always been into making these hybrid looking sport bridge cruiser which makes maximum use of beam inside in a wide body feature, and the 36 Mariner keeps this heritage coming. Do you remember the nineties Santego series?  The 36 Mariner features a clever single level living main deck inside offering a relaxing L-shaped sofa, dining table, and galley.  Below to fore is a roomy owners double with en-suite head facilities.  Another nice feature of the 36 Mariner which comes from larger boats is also the forward settee located on the fore deck, something not seen much in modern cruisers of this size.  The aft deck of the 36 Mariner is left free, but the sun deck area where the helm is located features three bench settees, with a table in the middle.  Power is from four choices from Crusader, Yanmar, and Volvo from 200 up to 375hp in petrol gasoline or diesel power.  The twin Yanmar 315hp is the diesel option.

Improve-it = Fiart 33 Seawalker

Fiart clients ask, and the South Italian boat builder responds.  This is in synthesis how the press release for the new central hard top option on the 33 Seawalker was introduced on the official Fiart web site.  The 33 Seawalker introduced in the 2011 fall has a size which puts in the tax free small dimension Italian legislation. But the Seawalker is a twin engine diesel or petrol gas, and has also an interior which sleeps four in a two-plus-two cabin arrangement.  In this we see Fiart follow other Italian builders in the hybrid cross over center console sport cruiser which seems to have a growing interest in Italy and Southern Europe especially in the thirty to forty feet size.

Project: C.Boat 18.70 mtr One

C.Boat is a Sicily island located Italian builder on the outskirts of the city Palermo, which started its venture a few years go with a concept mixing Italian flare, semi displacement hull shapes, and a steel construction.  The initial venture of C.Boat was so far above the 24 meters plus Super Yacht size, but now the builder presents an entry level project of just above eighteen meters in length, seventeen in waterline, six in beam dimensions called One.  Again the design as all the range is by architect Mortola and the new small One C.Boat will keep similar characteristics for a Mediterranean yacht of its larger sister with a stylish very elegant line complementing the customisable interior.  The standard plan of the 18.70 meter One is for a three double cabins layout, though fair to say customization is not an option, but part of the process when a new C.Boat is in build.

New Model: Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht

Sunseeker definitely shows a lot of innovation pursuit in this new model which was officially presented at the start year January held London boat show.  To sum it up shorty the 28 Metre Yacht by Sunseeker makes most other modern looking yachts look old.  This new pocket sized super Sunseeker yacht is innovative in many areas, you can start by the use of Kevlar materials for the upper structure, the loads of glassed window surfaces in all areas, the settee and sun bed filled fore deck area, and active fin stabilizers for stability at anchor or slow displacement speeds.  Inside Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht again show pursuit of innovation with a layout which has separate entrances for the forward located VIP suite and owners stateroom which are in the forward part of the lower accommodation deck, to the central midships two other guest cabins. Spaces abound in this new Sunseeker which makes them seem also larger thanks to the huge large windows everywhere which makes for all areas being all natural light filled.  Power is from twin MTU 1950hp which will give a 29 knots max.  But other smaller engine options are available, although Sunseeker does not say what they are.

Project: Tarquin Trader 585 Sunliner

Showed in conjunction with the 48 Signature the Tarquin Trader 585 Sunliner will be the bridge which fills a gap in the current range of this builder. The initial renderings show the 585 Sunliner as traditional to the DNA of this British company, that is as an aft cabin motor yacht, with a very big boat feel to it.  This is further shown in the huge flybridge, very wide and safe side decks, and the tender stowage up top.  Live aboard features are standard in nearly all Trader models, so you definitely will have the same in the 585 Sunliner, which will be fourth in size model behind the 75, 70 Motoryacht, and 64 of the same range.  So far Trader has not shown any interior plans, and not even mentioned engine power.  But do accept a semi displacement hull as in nearly all Tarquin Trader models, minus the recently introduced 38 Sprint.
