Within the heart of Riviera’s state-of-the-art facility on Australia’s Gold Coast, the much anticipated 58 Sports Motor Yacht emerged for her first public reveal through a veil of theatrical fog and lights, cradled securely in the slings of a travel lift on eight December. A select group of invited owners and partners gained their very first glimpse of this exceptional yacht. Production of the 58 Sports Motor Yacht model was announced in May 2023, and the evening’s guests are the first in line for the future delivery of their new 58 SMYs. Riviera’s first Sports Motor Yacht model was the 68, launched just six years ago. Now, with the 58, the range extends to six magnificent models from fourteen to 22 meters. Riviera’s Sports Motor Yachts are uniquely specified craft that reward owners with endless adventures, enjoyed in ultimate luxury, and this new 58 offers all the Sports Motor Yacht essentials including all-water sports cockpit, walk-around side decks, foredeck lounge and entertaining zone, all-weather alfresco deck entertaining, and a spacious, luxurious saloon with internal staircase to a fully enclosed, air-conditioned flybridge and state-of-the-art helm. As an utility room, diving and fishing gear can be passed down from the cockpit via the engine room and stowed; or you can use this space as a personalised laundry with a separate washer and dryer, easily accessed via the walk-in wardrobe in the master suite. Interiors are rich in quality and style with premium fabrics, in-vogue lounges, exquisitely hand-finished exotic timber cabinetry, and the comfort of plush carpet in all three staterooms.  The Riviera 58 Sports Motor Yacht is powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pods drive propulsion,

New Model: Wally Why100

For the end of 2023 Wally ended it's fantastic year by launching the first unit of the Why100 in the beautiful Venice setting. The one hundred, an acronym for its gross tonnage volume rather then size is the small of the Why series, which debuted in 2021 with the Why200, and today features three models which start from twenty and go up to 29 meters in length.  For the WallyWhy100 Luca Bassani presented something different, a bridge to the Power series in design and target usage, offering a less volume focused product then the two other larger Why models.  A hard-top sport yacht with spacious accommodation and a re-invented and un-edited main deck layout, the Why100 is unique in this segment for the very forward helm station which extends the use of the main deck pushing the pilot house for over two-thirds of the length, and presents an exterior sun-lovers aft deck which offers the same spaces of similar sized yachts.  The design of main deck is also un-edited with a central circle dinette. Below the lower deck of the WallyWhy100 offers three double cabins with an owners full beam stateroom at midships, a VIP suite to port side, and twin berth guest cabin to starboard.  A galley with twin bunk berth crew cabin is located forward with a separate excess to port of the central helm station on the main deck.  The WallyWhy100 is powered by twin Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp engines with IPS pod drives propulsion for top speeds up to 27 knots from the large power option.

New Model: Viking 90 Convertible

Since the announcement and launch of the Viking 90 Enclosed Bridge, the model has received tremendous global attention, selling twelve units before its debut, and four more signed just after it's World presented in Miami earlier on this year. Now Viking follows the Enclosed Bridge model with the presentation of the sportier Convertible open bridge version. Her sleek design is purpose-driven and loaded with amenities while also serving as a social hub.  From first glance, it is clearly apparent that the visibility of the open bridge is excellent due to the low-profile, well-laid-out console. Both forward to the bow and aft to the cockpit and beyond to the spread, the clear sightlines provide the captain confidence while docking or backing down. The interior perimeter and seating modules have an integrated toe kick for added aesthetics and function.  A trio of Release Marine Trillion series teak ladder-back chairs adorn the console, with all three having the same size pedestal and are mounted on an elevated centreline moulded-in standing platform. Behind is an eight-rod rocket launcher on the double aft rail.  The flat panel helm has an acrylic inlay that can accommodate four 19-inch screens. Recessed port and starboard split lid radio boxes are at your fingertips while also keeping electronics protected from elements with gasketed lids and stainless-steel piston lifts.   Seating is abundant. A pair of bench seats flank the console and provide rod storage below. Aft-facing lounge seats, bookended to the bench seats include a comfy backrest. A large sun lounge is forward and offers armrests, drink holders and generous storage below. There is also a freshwater sink, large top-loading freezer and a chill box for keeping drinks and snacks handy.  Inside the Viking 90C offers an interior with living, lounging and entertaining main deck, fully equipped counter-topped galley adjacent with a five stool bar, dinette opposite, and lounging saloon on entry to port side, with a day head located forward.  The lower deck offers a five double cabins five en-suite heads layout, with a master stateroom located at midships featuring his and hers bathrooms looking aft.  A crew cabin is located aft.  The Viking 90 Convertible is standard powered by twin Cats 1925hp, and or optional Cats 2433hp, and MTU 2635hp.  Hull one of the Viking 90 which was an Enclosed Bridge optioned with Sky Bridge and the big twin MTU 2635hp reached top 38 knots speeds, and cruise at 32/33 for a range up to six hundred nautical miles.

New Model: Maxi Dolphin MD70 Power

Since launching the Power line back in 2007 with the 51 model Maxi Dolphin has teased for larger units in project form, first with an MD61 in 2008, then a 65 in 2016, and last this MD70, which was announced in 2020 and launched just before Summer 2022.  For this new project Maxi Dolphin changes design duties to Francesco Rogantin, who brings similar lines to the smaller MD51 and 53 models as designed by Roberto Starkel. Honestly if this was not told I would have assumed Roberto Starkel designed the MD70, as it is near identical looking to the smaller MD's, with slight evolutionary differences at the stern. The interior of the first MD70, is designed by Nuvolari Lenard who presented a two double cabins; forward VIP and midships master stateroom, with a crew cabin sleeping two.  As in any Maxi Dolphin light weight plays a big role in the construction of the MD70, with a carbon fibre epoxy vacuum build followed by interiors made of Nomex sandwich with all this giving a light unloaded weight of just 33 tons.  The first Maxi Dolphin MD70 Power which will have support duties to a super yacht is fitted with twin Man 1300hp engines coupled to KaMeWa waterjets propulsion for top speeds up to 43 knots and a cruise of 34.

New Model: Solaris Power 52 Open

Solaris Power continue to upgrade its walk-around line and present this new 52 Open model. A project like all Solaris Power of Brunello Acampora, the 52 Open follows the priorities of this six model line, for full length walk-around deck exterior spaces; and lower deck fully dedicated to overnight accommodation.  The Solaris Power 52 is offered in three exterior deck plans with the choices revolving around the central dinette and galley-wet-bar layout, and comes out as standard with two opposite settees called layout B, C-shaped dinette looking aft layout A with the galley becoming an L-shaped, and layout C with a forward looking dinette.  The choices of the Solaris Power 52 do not stop, with two lower deck plan choices; two cabins version with central master room, and a three cabins layout relocating the owners suite forward, and two cabins at midships.  In both versions the lower deck is fully dedicated to the cabins, no dinette or galley option available.  An optional crew cabin is available in the two cabins version, located to port side with separate entry from the main deck.  Other options in the Solaris Power 52 are the flip down bulkheads which increase deck space by about 30%, and are located in the middle of the cockpit area adjacent with the dinette.  During the Genoa boat show Solaris was telling me that the bulkhead option is ordered in like 50% of units sold, with the metallic colour chosen in like 90% of the units.  The Solaris Power 52 Open is standard powered by rather small for twenty tons twin Volvo 480hp, and or optional 600hp with IPS pod propulsion.  Speeds are thirty knots with the standard engines, and 35 knots with the optional larger 600hp engines.

New Model: Azimut Magellano 60

Azimut Magellano 60 was first presented during the twelfth Azimut Yachting Gala 2023 in Toarmina, Sicily with the official World debut following a couple months later in  Cannes.  The Magellano 60, is the latest in Azimut crossover line which debuted in 2009 with the revolutionary 74 model, a line designed for owners who want longer voyages full of adventure.  This eighteen meter yacht is also today the new entry level in Azimut Magellano explorer yacht range, presented in a new size for the line.  Sure some might say it replaces the 53 model, but if one would go onboard the Magellano 60, this new model stands out more as a smaller 66, also for the large spaces on board, generous without compromising the elegance of Ken Freivokh's lines. The cockpit is configured as a natural extension of the large lounge on the Main Deck and the stern transforms into a terrace capped with a transparent parapet that creates an Infinity Terrace overlooking the water that offers a navigation experience in complete harmony with nature and the sea. The crossover soul of the Magellano 60 is also through the efficiency Dual Mode semi-planning, now into its eight hull, which allows navigation at low speeds in total comfort but also to handle higher speeds by attenuating the impact of the waves and optimizing consumption and emissions. As is usual to Azimut looking forward never stops and the Magellano 60 was also the yacht chosen by the Italian yacht builder for the first test voyage powered by HVOlution biofuel, produced by Eni Sustainable Mobility with 100% renewable raw materials.  The tests carried out by Azimut in the summer of 2023 recorded exceptional results in terms of compatibility and performance, with a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 80% compared to a yacht of comparable size powered by fossil diesel.

New Model: Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi 440 Regina

Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi also known with the acronym of FIM has debuted in the fall of 2023 its new 440 Regina model.  A sport cruiser of over eleven meters in length the 440 Regina fills the gap in between the 340 Regina which debuted the brand in 2021 and the 2022 introduced 470 flagship model.  The FIM 440 Regina like the smaller 340 and bigger 470 models is a surprise in the market presenting itself as a hybrid between a walk around day and cabin sport cruiser.  For the 440 Regina Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi changes design duties bringing in Alessandro Lottici, a young designer from Brescia which debuted in 2018 with his aLot studio.  For the 440 Regina, Lottici brings a soft curved exterior but keeping inline with the smaller and bigger FiM models family design language. The interior is also design furnished by LDI a company from Rome, which presents a two plus two layout, with a forward U-shaped saloon which converts to a double berth, galley, head, and a spacious full beam midships master stateroom. Ocean King has in Summer 2023 launched its new Ducale 120 model, a full displacement three deck super yacht designed by Paolo Bose of VYD studio from Trieste, with naval architecture by Ginton and InNave.  The Ocean King Ducale 120 is the first model to come for the Ducale high volume long range explorer looking super yacht line, which features a smaller 96 and larger 140 models.  The Ocean King Ducale 120 offers a five double guest cabin accommodation with an owners stateroom located on the forward full body part of the main deck.  Crew accommodation is for seven guests in four cabins, with three cabins and a lobby located on the forward part of the main deck, and a captains cabin with double berth located behind the wheel house on the upper deck.  Hull one of the Ducale 120 offered a main deck pool layout which looks to be an option Ocean King is showing in its plans, although being build of steel I am sure a lot of customizations are possible.  The Ocean King Ducale 120 hull one is powered by twin Man 799hp engines for top speeds up to fourteen knots, and a range of 7,500 nautical miles at nine knots.  Ocean King is a brand of Adriatic Shipyard from Chioggia, to the South-West of Venice which debuted in the yachting sector with the Explorer 88 model in 2012. Currently Ocean King has two further 400 Doge models under construction, with the first of these set to launch in 2024.

New Model: Lyman-Morse Monhegan 42

Lyman-Morse recently launched the semi-custom Monhegan 42, the latest yacht from the long-standing and successful relationship between Lyman-Morse and C. Raymond Hunt Associates. Riding on Hunt’s time-tested deep-V hull design, the Monhegan 42 showcases Lyman-Morse’s proven method of creating series-built semi-custom cruisers and yachts. This allows owners to customize each boat to suit their needs within the existing design; and allows Lyman-Morse to provide many of the attributes of a custom yacht with far less lead time. The Monhegan 42’s power comes from twin Cummins 550-horsepower with traditional line shaft propulsion in tunnels for top speed up to 32 knots and a cruising of 28 knots.  As with every Lyman-Morse build, the Monhegan 42 combines traditional style with cutting-edge construction technology and modern amenities, such as Scrimp resin-infusion in the hull, which maximizes strength and reduces weight, Humphrey Interceptor trim tabs, and Side Power bow and stern thrusters.  The helm station of this third Lyman-Morse is custom to the owner’s specific needs, with oversized display screens. Accommodation below deck features a galley and dinette/lounge area for meal preperation and dining, a head with saparate shower staill, and primary stateroom forward. This owner wanted to be able to lie down on the settee and relax, so the team at Lyman incorporated a custom footwell into the layout to allow for optimal relaxation. Interior joinery is made from South American mahogany, with teak and wenge accents. The Monhegan 42 exemplifies Lyman-Morse’s unparalleled ability to produce bespoke, semi-custom boats that deliver unrivaled performance, safety, and convenience at sea.

New Model: Mazu 92 DS

Mazu has debuted its new 92 DS, which brings two important novelties in the Turkish builder line-up, that of a new 27 meter flagship, and the launch for its displacement series.  Build with a steel hull and composite super structure, to a design of Red Yacht Design of Cana Gokhan and Fatih Surekli from Istanbul, the 92 DS brings the unusual and original off squarish looks of Mazu's successful sports cruiser and yacht line into a displacement yacht, along with vertical bow and full height windows. One can say a lot of things about Mazu's 92 DS looks, bringing something original, and in competition with the likes of the WallyWhy and Princess's X-series  with the difference that she is build of steel.  Mazu also says its unusual looks give the volume of a yacht at least ten meters bigger.  The Mazu 92 DS offers accommodation for eight guests in four cabins with an owners stateroom located on the forward part of the main deck. Being build of steel the layout of the Mazu 92 DS can also be customized to reflect an owners need.  The Mazu 92 DS is powered by triple Volvo 800hp with IPS pods drives, the first steel hull build to offer this match up, with initial speeds giving top speeds up to eighteen knots.  Following its Cannes Yachting Festival debut the Mazu Displacement Series has started in a good start with two other 92 DS under construction, and the initial construction phase of the larger 112 DS starting at the start of 2024.
