Project: Cantieri di Pisa Akhir 44

During the Cannes boating festival earlier this month Cantieri di Pisa presented the project for the Akhir 44. The Akhir line, is the most important and long standing Cantieri di Pisa series which debuted in 1972 with the 16.60 as designed by Pier Luigi Spadolini for a range which over the years expanded up to 153 feet and a designer change to Carlo Galeazzi in 2008. The Akhir series is also an important turning point in yacht design, as Spadolini presented the larger models with a modern classic imprint bringing a change to all the industry. This new Akhir 44 is designed by Antonio Luxardo, who presented a sleek and clean super yacht with an identity bonding past and present. In keeping with Cantieri di Pisa important history, Luxardo imprinted a number of distinctive Akhir features into this upcoming 44; sleek horizontal lines of the deckhouse, strip windows featured on the hull sides, “shark-like” decoration on the bow, horizontal-grid air intakes, and the black and white livery accenting the line’s identity. The first Akhir 44, is reported to have entered initial production phase, for a super yacht which will be build with a vacuum-moulded carbon fibre composite hull and superstructure. The Akhir 44 is to feature an Eco High Power displacement hull.
