Three Injured in Fairline Boat Explosion at Upton Marina

Three persons were grievously injured when a Fairline boat exploded in Upton Marina in Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire UK on 12:20 hours of Thursday 25 July.  A woman in her sixties of the three injured persons was also airlifted to a hospital nearby, with West Midlands Ambulance Service coming to the scene and treating various persons for skin burns.  The Fairline boat is reported to have had a fuel gas build up explosion, and then went ablaze. With the fire the Fairline boat untied itself from its berth and then ending on the pier in-front spread more damage to three other boats, with two of these being totaled.   Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service deployed more then thirty persons to tackle the blaze, and is working to minimize any water pollution and investigate the cause.
The boat in this explosion and fire is a Fairlne 31 Corniche, as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 1985 to 90.  The other boats hit by the fire are a mid nineties Princess 360 and a  2002 Maxum 3100 SE both of which are totaled, while a Broom 41 also received fire damage to its bow.
