Benetti New Web Site

Benetti presents its new web site. Founded in 1873 by Lorenzo Benetti who acquires the Darsena boat yard near Lucca. Lorenzo managed the yard for forty years till 1914, building in his time more than thirty vessels; five schooners, three tartanes, thirteen brigantine-schooners, eight “navicelli” boats, and three cutters.  Lorenzo is followed by sons Gino and Emilio who rename the business to Frattelli Benetti, and in 1921 launch the St. George, which at 51 meters is the largest sailing ship to date.  The St. George is in 1952 transformed into a training ship for navy helmsman students, and today can be seen on display at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.  1927 sees more of the Benetti family getting involved in the business with Giuseppe and Virgilio; Gino's two sons succeeding him, while Maurizio and Bertani, Emilio heirs also join the company. Bertani and Emilio will in 1941 launch Maria the first diesel powered steel hulled ship.  In 1954 the yard is split into two parts; Fratelli Benetti concentrating on sailing and motor boats, and M&B Benetti yard which is dedicated to commercial vessels. In 1960 Benetti enters yachting with the semi production Delfino 18M, which with the updated Super Delfino 19 meter which arrived in 1964 will be delivered in 21 units in eleven years.  Delfino is followed by the larger Tirreno 22.40 meters in 1962.  Emilio's nephew Giuseppe take the helm in 1963, and is helped by his son Lorenzo who will become an important figure in Benetti's yachting expansion.  Benetti shows the scope of super yachting in 1965 when it launches the Mediterraneo 28 meters delivered in two units, the size expands more with the Mediterraneo 33M in 1967 delivered in three hulls in three years.  In 1978 Benetti launches Vanina, a two tonner aluminium made sailing yacht designed by American architect Kauffmann to compete in the Admirals cup, and is joined by sister-yacht Wagner the following year.  In 1980 the largest super yacht of the time and Benetti is launched for owner Adrian Kashoggi as the Jon Banenberg designed 86 metres FB116 titled Nabila at launch is delivered.  After a couple difficult years in bankruptcy Benetti is acquired in 1985 by Azimut Yachts founder and owner Paolo Vitelli.  This creates the Azimut-Benetti Group and two years into this ownership launches the first yacht, the steel built 45 meters FB202 titled Rima to a design of Terrence Disdale, which becomes a semi-custom series as it is followed by a second hull FB204 in 1988.  In 1988 a big feat surrounds Benetti with the building of FB206, the 27 meter Azimut Atlantic Challenger powered by quadruple 1850hp CRM engines with Riva Calzoni jet propulsion for speeds up to sixty knots, which makes a failed attempt to win the Blue Ribbon for the fastest Atlantic Crossing, failing because of an engine problem. Following the collaboration in 1991 for the updated second generation 45M semi custom series the Zuretti and Natucci duo is confirmed to design the 50 meters Golden Bay series, which arrived in 1997 and is delivered in seven hulls in eleven years. 1998 sees an important strategic move with the purchase of the Moschini yard in Fano completed in 2002, and the launching of the first fiberglass built Benetti 35 metre Classic, which will sell 27 units in an eight year production run.  Following the success of the 35m Classic the fiberglass line is expanded in 2003 with the 30M Tradition, and then into more models from the smallest thus far 85 Legend produced in 2006 to 2009, to the Vision 45m build in three units from 2011 to 2014.  In 2000 the 70 meter FB222 is launched, titled Reverie she is at the time the second largest Benetti in length ever built, sixteen meters smaller to FB116 but bigger in volume by 207 gross tons.  In 2003 Azimut-Benetti Group buys the Fratelli Orlando shipyard in Livorno, which will open as a hub for mega and giga yacht production over eighty meters in 2016.  In that same 2016 Benetti goes bigger to eighty meters after 36 years as it launches the 90 meters FB262, this again superseded after three years with the 108 meters FB275.  Currently Benetti offers seven yacht series; Custom, B.Loft, B.Now, B.Yond, Oasis, Motopanfilo, Class, and B.Neos. Benetti semi custom and production line offers fourteen models which start with the fiberglass build Oasis 34M and goes up to the steel build B.Now 72M Oasis Deck.  Benetti new web site takes you around with the following buttons; Home, Yacht Families, House of Yachting, Service Net, News and Events, and Contacts.  Benetti is also on social media, with bottom right links taking you to its Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Linkedin pages.

Moonen Yacht Ends Aground in Big Pass Sarasota, Florida

A 25 meter Moonen yacht with seven people aboard ended aground at Big Pass in Sarasota, Florida on a story shared sixth March on the Florida Gulf Coast Marine Services YouTube channel.  The yacht ended aground at late night on a sand-bar, and following the grounding also had one engine incapacitated.  Florida Gulf Coast Marine Services who is part of TowBoatU.S towing fleet assisted the yacht, and managed to put it into deep water.  The yacht then proceeded with it's own power but on one engine to its berth.
The yacht in this accident is a Moonen 83 as designed by Mulder and produced from 1994 to 1998 in four units.  The Moonen 83 series debuted with the one off 80 YN150 in 1992 and featured five other same platform but different sister vessels; 84 YN156 from 1992, the 82 YN159 from 1994, 86 YN168 from 1999, 75 YN170 from 1999, and 89 YN173 from 2001.

New Launch: Rossinavi 53.00 m FR052

Rossinavi launches in Pisa its latest custom yacht the 53 meters Hull FR052 titled yacht Heed. Rossinavi FR052 is designed by Alberto Mancini responsible for the vessel’s exterior design, Achille Salvagni Architetti who penned the interiors, and Arrabito for naval architecture. This Rossinavi’s latest 53-metre fast-displacement superyacht, was a close and energetic exchange with the client, combined with Rossinavi’s expertise, proved highly fruitful. The process was further supported by the Owner’s representative who carefully coordinated the designers and the construction process. Among the key features of FR052 are: beach club area featuring a pool and fold-down side platforms enhancing direct contact with the sea and expanding usable outdoor space, spacious main fully glaze saloon on the main deck ensuring uninterrupted sea views and natural light, panoramic dining area on the main deck equipped with a starboard-side fold-down balcony creating a seamless indoor–outdoor experience, forward Owner’s cabin located on the upper deck enhancing panoramic views and featuring a private outdoor area with a dedicated swimming pool, observation deck designed as an exclusive lookout point offering elevated views and a quiet space for relaxation or contemplation, and an onboard battery system allowing operation at anchor with the generators switched off enhancing onboard comfort and quietness. The exterior design of Rossinavi FR052 expresses a contemporary approach to luxury, defined by clarity, proportion, and restraint. Clean architectural lines and balanced volumes give the yacht a confident presence, ensuring it remains elegant at rest and dynamic underway, with a silhouette that is both distinctive and timeless. Reflecting the key points outlined above, the exterior design of the upper deck features a forward upper deck fully dedicated to the owner and conceived as a private outdoor space in direct dialogue with the sea. Here, a forward deck pool is positioned directly ahead of the Owner’s suite, designed not only for relaxation but also for swimming against the current. This elevated area offers privacy while maintaining openness toward the horizon. The metallic grey hull finish enhances the sculpted geometry of the super yacht, emphasizing the interaction between light and shadow across its refined surfaces. Subtle and modern, the color highlights the purity of the design and allows the yacht’s character to shift naturally throughout the day.

Project: Pershing GTX90

During the 2026 Dusseldorf boat show Pershing unveiled details of the GTX90 project.  Again a design of Vallicelli who designed the smaller GTX80 and GTX70, the GTX90 is second in size and fourth Pershing GTX range model which debuted with the Fulvio de Simoni designed GTX116 in 2023.  The GTX range is Pershing cross over range, offering near comforts to those of a flybridge yacht but in the same time sporty looks, expansive deck spaces and features which have distinct Pershing since its founding.  For the GTX90 Vallicelli brings a similar profile to the two smaller sisters, clean soft and sporty lines wrapping the looks, with differences in the aft deck layout and jet propulsion set up.  The Pershing GTX90 will feature interiors offering a social astern galley main deck, a feature rarely find in yachts of 27 meters in length, while the lower deck offers four guest cabins all served with private heads and an owners stateroom at midships.  A midships located crew cabin with two cabins and lobby completes the accommodation.  Exterior spaces abound in three distinct areas; aft deck, flybridge deck, and foredeck.  The aft deck features expanding terraces and offers a central-pad, forward settee, and then a vertical with opposite settees and coffee table lounge setting, a pattern which is again followed on the sundeck but with more spaces.  Still the aft deck of the GTX90 might prove to be one of the largest in its size.  Interestingly the expanding terraces in the GTX90 come with a few differences and are more conservatively sized to those of the smaller GTX's and serve the main deck at normal level, unlike the smaller models where these are located at the lower bathing beach club platform aft.  The Pershing GTX90 is to be powered by twin MAN 2000hp with jet propulsion for speeds up to 35 knots.

Lost Occasion

Announced as a total new model by Sunseeker, the hype was all building for the new Manhattan 56.  Hyped even more as Sunseeker did not share any information or renderings to the press and general public.  Unfortunately in the end the Manhattan 56 turned to be an improved Manhattan 55 which arrived in 2021, and was an improved Manhattan 52 which debuted in 2016.

The new Manhattan 56 is a model which is based on a ten year old platform and unfortunately for Sunseeker it is starting to show versus the competition.  The improvements to the hard-top and aft deck give it some extended life.  But is it enough?  The fore-deck which for example was never improved from the Manhattan 52 is one of the areas that needed a re think probably even more that the aft cockpit and hard-top.

The 52/55 Manhattan platform was a huge success for Sunseeker, it's best selling flybridge motor yacht with 131 hulls sold for the 52, and 103 sold of the 55.  Probably this version will extend it a life line but to what the competition advancement has come to from the likes of Absolute, Azimut, Cruisers, Fairline, Ferretti, Galeon, Prestige, Princess this is a product which is falling behind in today very innovative market.
