34 Meter Super Yacht Smashes Into Pier in Fort Lauderdale

The 34 meter yacht Determination crashed into a pier while being towed along the New River, near Andrews Avenue, in downtown Fort Lauderdale on the morning of Monday twenty July. According to the tow company, someone on the yacht bridge accidentally hit the throttle as it passed Andrews Avenue, which sent the yacht off course. The tow captains below tried to counter that propulsion, but there was nothing they could do to avoid the collision. Both the dock and the yacht sustained significant damage after the accident, with a piling lodged in the yacht's bow still visible. Despite the mess left behind and the city’s storm-water pump house damaged, no injuries were reported. City officials said a structural engineer will determine how much damage the crash may have caused to the storm-water pump station and the seawall.
The yacht in this accident is a 2016 Westport 112 Raised Pilothouse, as produced from 1993 to 2020 in 68 units.  The 112 Raised Pilothouse was replaced by the Westport 117 Raised Pilothouse.

New Model: Azimut Grande 44M

Azimut launched its new flagship and largest build to date, as it splashes the first unit of the Grande 44M. A contemporary superyacht the Grande 44M also combines Hull Vane® foil technology and carbon fibre, where lightness creates new possibilities, freeing up space to dedicate an entire Deck to the owner. Enjoyed in the silence of Mild Hybrid technology. The launch of the first Grande 44M confirms the success of the strategy that has led Azimut to achieve leadership in the superyacht segment over the years. Today, over two-thirds of the Azimut's production value is represented by models over 24 meters, a testament to a corporate vision rewarded by the market and the trust of owners. The expansion of the range culminates in the new Grande 44M, which debuts in the water with seven units already sold to owners. The new flagship marks the final leg of Azimut's journey to define the contemporary superyacht, combining the evolution of its design language created by international design excellence with continuous technological innovation. The use of carbon fiber, which accounts for more than 50% of the vessel, is the cornerstone of the project: reducing the overall weight of the superstructure allows for an unprecedented four-deck architecture that breaks with the traditional layout. The fourth deck, which houses the wheelhouse and is perfectly integrated into the sleek profile designed by Alberto Mancini, frees the Upper Deck of all technical spaces, transforming it into an entire deck dedicated to the owner with private terraces overlooking the horizon. Aft, the Grande 44M features the Mezzanine Deck with a Sea View Terrace, a defining element of the Grande Trideck, made even more iconic by the See-Through Pool: a plunge pool that plays with transparency to maintain visual contact with the sea and create caustic effects that make the beach club even more magical. The original layout allowed m²atelier architecture studio to translate the design into a manifesto of intentional living. Here, the interior balances functionality and aesthetics in environments designed to give new spaces to the owner, along with the freedom to inhabit it as they please. This is how the bow area of the upper deck is transformed: a veranda dining area for twelve, a private media room, or a space for guests. In every configuration, enormous windows break down visual boundaries and open a 180° view of the outdoor bow lounge where, around the firepit, guests gather to watch the sunset over the water. m2atelier—internationally renowned for projects ranging from elite residences to product design envisions a clear and uncompromising style for Azimut, punctuated by subtle, refined details.
