Hatteras Sportfish Beached in Pensacola Beach

A twenty meter Hatteras sportfish yacht titled m/y Robin Lynn ended up beached in Pensacola Pass Beach, South of Florida on the morning of Tuesday 26 September.  According to unconfirmed speculative reports the captain slept under command during the trip, which ended with the sportfish beached in Pensacola.  The twenty meter sportfish yacht was towed away on the same evening by United States Coast Guard and taken to a yard.  A picture taken of the sportfish yacht after hauling out showed next to nothing visible damage, which indicates she was cruising at slow speeds during the grounding.
The sportfish yacht in this grounding is a 2001 Hatteras 65 Convertible Series II with the Enclosed Bridge, as designed by Jack Hargrave and produced from 2000 to 2005.  The 65 Convertible was replaced by the Hatteras 68 Convertible which followed more modern looks as introduced by the second generation 54 Convertible.

New Model: Centouno Navi Vespro 55

For the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, Centouno Navi debuted the launch of its first construction, the semi-custom sixteen meters Vespro, a very fast fifty knots plus open T-top covered sport yacht designed by Marco Arnaboldi and Manuela Lucchesi.  The two architects apart being the designers are also the owners of Centouno, a high end fast sport yacht builder presenting itself in 2022 with the 28m Forza and 39m Eterea projects, and the Vespro announced some months from the larger models, construction starting just after the announcement. The two designers for the Vespro present clean and soft curved lines, futuristic but not sharp minimal, a trend which in the renderings is followed in the larger Centouno sisters.  With this one can say that the Vespro is an open sport yacht of the future, with spacious exterior spaces and an open aft deck, which extends and doubles its size thanks to port and starboard drop down balconies, and a T-top which covers the pilot station and central area of the cockpit.  Over half of the exterior area from the helm station to aft is a wide body, meaning it uses nearly all the available beam, with two left and right stairs leading you to the foredeck sun-pad area.  Down below the Vespro offers a two cabins sleeping four layout, with saloon and galley in between. A traditional arrangement with the exception for the forward master stateroom which features a fore peak shower head in order to centralize the stateroom and using most of the beam available without being in a midships location.  The Centouno Navi Vespro is powered by twin Man 1200hp with MJP jet propulsion, a Marco Arnaboldi specialization who apart being the founder of the go-to jet powered yacht brand is also the architect or consultant for the majority of yachts and fast patrol vessels with jet power.  With Marco Arnaboldi architecting the jet propulsion it is sure not to be disappointed in the performance of the Vespro, and the first Centouno Navi reached speeds of 57 knots, an extra one knot to the declared design speed, a fast cruise of fifty, and a very economic to run six litres per nautical miles 35 knots cruise.  Nothing more to add but impressive numbers!.

New Launch: Abeking and Rasmussen 118.20m hull#6507

Abeking and Rasmussen, the renowned ship and super yacht builder founded in 1907, proudly announces the launch of their latest masterpiece, the majestic superyacht 118.20 meters in length hull number 6507 titled m/y LivaO. This iconic super-giga yacht boasts a sleek black hull that stands as a symbol of sophistication and elegance on the water. The design of the exterior and interior was entrusted to the incredibly passionate experts at Joseph Dirand Architecture from with their precise imagination they created a true icon. It was a huge challenge for the German shipyard to implement all technical necessities to be as invisible as possible in order to strictly follow the challenging aesthetic design intent. Abeking and Rasmussen 6597 employs a sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion system designed for exceptionally quiet operation during navigation and manoeuvring. This innovative approach incorporates two 2200 kW electric propulsion motors, expertly manufactured by Ramme Electric Machines Germany, backed up by a steady supply of electrical power from two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators. To further enhance its propulsion capabilities and onboard comfort, the yacht features an array of advanced components. Four Voith thrusters lend their power to the yacht's manoeuvrability, along with four stabilizer fins from SKF play a pivotal role in comfortable experience for passengers and crew alike. This comprehensive blend of cutting-edge technology culminates in a propulsion and comfort system that ensures efficiency, silence, and seamless operation. Abeking and Rasmussen new super yacht flagship presented its fair share of challenges, and the most notable was the construction of a tender garage on the lower deck fitting a sixteen-meter day tender. The second tender garage on the main deck forward accommodates not only three splendid boats, but also a Triton Submersible for up to seven guests and a variety of water toys, bicycles and dive equipment enhancing the yacht's recreational offerings. The exterior design, thoughtfully crafted to maintain the vessel's elegant black silhouette, boasts a unique approach. Instead of traditional anchor pockets, the yacht incorporates underwater anchors on the keel. This ingenious design not only adds to the vessel's allure but also enhances its efficiency and manoeuvrability. Further standout features include a Neptune Lounge offering an unparalleled underwater view through a massive four squared meters underwater window. Guests can marvel at the breath-taking world below sea level while enjoying the luxurious comfort of the lounge. Another dedicated haven for relaxation on main deck is the mobile 48 square meters pool, its floor capable of being elevated to the upper level and adorned with liquid marble, creating an illusion reminiscent of the sea's surface when raised, while the pool walls and surroundings are also luxuriously enveloped in marble. The crow's nest, positioned at the foot of the mast, promises an exceptional observation experience, giving the Owner and his family a privileged vantage point to soak in the surrounding beauty. Also, an exquisitely arranged large marble-clad fireplace complemented by a generous round sofa on the forward sundeck offers a warm and inviting ambiance for relaxation and social gatherings. Furthermore, the yacht features a fully certified helicopter pad on the sky deck, catering to the owner's discerning taste and providing easy access to remote locations.

Hatteras Sportfish Ends Aground Then Sinks

A sixteen meter Hatteras sportfish yacht titled m/y Rae Mar ended aground and then sank near Boston, in Massachusetts, on the morning of Saturday 23 September.  The cause of the collision and grounding are not reported, with the situation getting worse as the sportfish later sank, probably due to high tide coming in.  Some unconfirmed reports are saying the sportfish yacht was on a sea trial at the time of the accident.  It is a strange turn of events to what looks a visible islet.  This Hatteras sportfish yacht was advertised for sale at the time of the collision.
M/y Rae Mar is a 1989 Hatteras 52 Convertible designed by Jack Hargrave, and produced from 1982 till 1990.  who presented a two or three cabin layout choice, and a modified Vee hull closing rather flat to aft.  The 52 Convertible received a look upgrade in side windows and flybridge in 1986.  The 52 Convertible was a replacement to the 53 Convertible and was replaced by the Hatteras 54 Convertible series I.

Project: Austin Parker Mahon 80

Austin Parker present the project for a Mahon 80, a second in size model and flagship for its fully enclosed hard-top cruisers and yachts lines named to the capital city of the Island of Menorca.  As all Austin Parker onwards from 2008 the Mahon 80 is designed by Fulvio de Simoni looking similar to the Ibiza 85 flagship which launched in 2022, with the similarities stopping there.  Unlike the 85, the Mahon 80 is to be build in fiberglass and the hull is over a meter slimmer.  The Austin Parker Mahon 80 is an innovative fully enclosed hard-top which opens a lot when desired, from a patio door which fully disappears, to side windows which drop down, making the enclosed area of the main deck become rather open.  The living space of the Mahon 80 is to be located on the main deck, with a galley located astern and centrally.  The astern galley apart being something rare in this size, is also located centrally.  Another innovation in the Mahon 80 is the aft sun-pad, which is located two steps down from the main deck, becoming a part of the beach club when on anchor.  Down below the Austin Parker Mahon 80 offers a three or four double cabins layout, with two crew cabins at midships, with an option for an open dinette, or office space in replacement of the fourth cabin.  The Austin Parker Mahon is powered by twin Man 1000hp up to 2000hp in line shafts, or surface drives for the large engine option.  Speed estimates are for 35 knots top speed from the 2000hp engines with line shaft propulsion.

New Model: Ferretti InFynito 90

Since 1991 and the Buzzi designed sixty knots plus fast 48 High Performance, Ferretti has seldom went out of its comfort zone of offering something beside a flybridge yacht.  Yes we had the 2005 presented Altura range, which had an innovative Mediterrean way use of the aft-cabin debuting with the 690 and then followed with the larger 840 in 2008, but these where very much a Ferretti flybridge with a different location for the master room.  The InFynito 90 is on the other hand a different Ferretti to all that came before her, offering exploring looks in a pocket super yacht 26 meter size, and a semi displacement hull which cruises peacefully in mid-tens speed.  Designed by Filippo Salvetti, the creator of Ferretti Yacht's since 2018, the InFynito 90 is innovative in its design and use of space, offering one hundred square meters of exterior spaces, and 140 sqm of interiors.  The extra space is important here, but the stand-out feature in the InFynito 90 is its foredeck, which offers a covered outdoor space with 270 degrees views, yet in a protected environment. The InFynito 90 is also semi-custom build, offering a variety of choices from the main deck offered with two galley options and for a master stateroom option forward, to the lower deck available in four cabins as standard, or the fourth cabin replaced by a multi-purpose room.  Other options are available for the exterior, with a central sun-pad option replacing the standard free aft deck space, and the fore-deck area available in a splash-pool with wrapped around settee, or an L-shaped settee in replacement to the standard L-shaped lounger.  The Ferretti InFynito 90 is powered by standard Man 1550hp or twin 1800hp engines for speeds up to 22 knots from the the large option, and a sweet cruise in the mid tens.

Projects: Sunseeker 55 Sport Yacht, Sunseeker Predator 55

On the opening day of the Cannes Festival Sunseeker announced two new seventeen meters sport yachts to launch in 2024, the 55 Sport Yacht and the Predator 55. Both the new models are to be based on the 2023 launched Superhawk 55 platform, with an identical length and beam, and are to be powered by the same twin 725hp IPS pod drives set up for speeds up to 35 knots.  Three knots less then the Superhawk 55, which is the trade off for the weight of the extra super structure.  Beside the sport bridge which you get in the 55 Sport Yacht, both the models have five choices inside, two for the upper deck; with a galley to starboard or a sofa, and three lower deck choices all about the middle starboard side; L-shaped saloon, spacious galley, and a three cabins with head choice.  More so with the 55 Sport Yacht, I think Sunseeker has something unique here, first of all sport bridge sub sixty feet are non existent, and second the three cabins three head layout is also very hard to find.  I think in the current panorama of sport yachts in this seventeen meters size no one has this option, with a couple of flybridge motor yachts offering this choice.
The Sunseeker Predator 55 will replace the just stopped in production Predator 55 Evo, which was presented in 2020, as an evolution of the 2018 launched Predator 50.  Here the offer is nearly identical to the 55 Sport Yacht, same five total options on the main and lower deck, with a larger hard top opening replacing the mini sport bridge up top.

New Model: Maritimo M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht

In 2023 Maritimo has celebrated twenty years of boat building, and what a better way to do so then by launching not one but two new flagships, both being the largest builds to date adding two foot from the previous largest offer, which was the 2009 unveiled 73 Cruising Motor Yacht.  This new Maritimo M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht follows the S75 which debuted in Spring at the Sanctuary Cove boat show, with which it also shares hull, and offers a near identical layout with the addition of an enclosed flybridge up top.  The M75 Enclosed Flybridge is reachable via an internal stair case to port side, and offers a dinette, C-shaped lounge and an opposite helm station.  To aft of the enclosed bridge is also an alfresco area with a large C-shaped dinette, and an island standing wet-bar.  The Maritimo M75 offers a main deck with an astern galley layout while, and as most enclosed bridge yachts has no helm station here which adding space to a very large lounging dining area.  Below deck is a four double cabins layout with an owners stateroom at midships and VIP suite forward, with a fourth cabin with twin bunks.  Considering the 22 meter size a bunk guest cabin can be a let down for some, but consider also that the Maritimo 75 flagship series is very well thought on the engineering side of things, especially in what regards to efficiency, engine positioning and shaft angle. This is something not seen much nowadays. The Maritimo M75 is standard powered by twin Scania 1150hp engines with optional 1380 or 1625hp MTU engines.  Official speed numbers are not provided, but a review online of the first hull sharing S75 which was powered with the Scania's 1150hp did reach 28 knots in a very light ship set up.
