In recent years FandS from Denver has been one of the most busy custom Sportfisherman builders. The reasons of this are many; but the variable Vee shaped hull, fast performances, and a bit of a modern take on the Carolina hull stand out. Hull number nineteen for FandS will be a 50 footer to be named Triple F. This new FandS 50 first presented as a 48 plan, is designed by Matthews Yacht Design who presented a three double cabins lower deck plan with owners room to fore, a single shower head, and the third cabin being a bunk double to port side. The engines although Volvo pods will still be positioned to midships. FandS has still not given any numbers but most of its models have always been in the forty knots max speed range. Can we imagine the same here?

New Model: Steeler NG43
Always in the lime light in the bigger super sizes, in recent times Dutch builders have also gathered attention in the smaller sub fifty foot sizes. Steeler is one of the builders coming from Holland who makes part of the resurgence in the smaller sizes. Steeler as the name of the Steenwijk located builder suggests builds of steel and the NG43 is its most recent model. A hard top sport cruiser in looks, the NG 43 offers a semi displacement hull suitable for inland waterways and sea navigation. The accommodation is a traditional four plus two layout. Two guest cabins below sleeping four and a convertible C-shaped settee in the saloon. The Steeler SG43 is standard powered by a single Yanmar 110hp, but a twin Steyr 250hp diesel engine has been the choice of hull number two.

New Model: Marlow 97 E Explorer
Marlow presents its largest build to date, with the launch of the 97 E Explorer in the fall of 2011. Marlow's flagship has already seen the hands for two owners, with hull number two delivered shorty after one. The 97 E Explorer continues Marlow philosophy of classic US looks, semi displacement efficient hulls, and spacious interior volume. Accommodation is for a standard seven double cabins layout, with three crew rooms sleeping six members. But the US company does make custom modifications as requested by clients on smaller models, so I imagine changes on the 97 are possible. The Marlow 97 E Explorer is powered by twin Cats 1760hp engines which thanks to a rather narrow beam hull at this size it can achieve a respectable 29 knots top speed. A cruise of 23 knots is possible with a range of 950 nautical miles, while a slow displacement speed of 9 knots gives a transatlantic 4000 nautical miles.

Improve-it = Tiara 3900 Convertible
Tiara adds an important new option for its 3900 Convertible model, the much appreciated mezzanine feature in the aft deck. The mezzanine is one of the most sought features in today's convertibles creating a relaxing support area to the guests, or a rest zone for the fisherman. Seeing this Tiara did well to add to the small of its two model Convertible flybridge models this option. The 4800 Convertible already features this option. The Tiara 3900 Convertible with this makes it also one of the smallest production sportfish flybridge to have the mezzanine. The Tiara 3900 Convertible is an appreciated entry level flybridge sportfish cruiser with a well laid out two stateroom layout with an owners room located to fore. The 3900 Convertible is also among the few sportfish cruiser to have a forward view on its main deck, thanks to a third part of its windshield being glassed.

Project: Grand Banks 43 Heritage Europa
Grand Banks announce a new addition to its Heritage Series. The 43 Heritage EU follows in the footsteps of the extremely successful 2007 launched 41 EU, a groundbreaking model that introduced pod drive propulsion to the trawler yacht category. It is infact its evolution in many terms with enhancements being made to the 41 to making it become the new 43, which is set for launch in 2013. The 43 EU features a larger cockpit with increased storage, and the addition of a second head to its two-stateroom layout. The new 43 will also have a larger master cabin, bigger flybridge and a number of other enhancements both inside and out. There is also the addition of new vertical shaped view windows to midships. Grand Banks have not announced engines for the 43, but the 41 is powered by a twin 380hp Cummins power with ZF pods, so I would imagine a similar set up.

Kadey-Krogen Yachts proudly announces a new model in the company's Advanced Ergonomics series, the Krogen 44 AE. Building on and inspired by the success of the Krogen 48 AE which was introduced last year, the 44 AE is highlighted by a new galley layout and an even more generously sized flybridge. The new Krogen 44 AE replaces the 44, which had 26 hulls launched. The new 44 AE is a result of a collaborative effort between owners, prospective owners and the Kadey-Krogen in-house design team lead by naval architect Dave Glasco. New, advanced ergonomic highlights include a full walk-thru cockpit boarding doors, walk-in engine room access, a companion seat next to the helm chair on the flybridge plus corner bench seating with a table perfect for entertaining, and the galley's repositioned starboard-side four-burner Viking range and an eighteen cubic foot refrigerator that opens to port for the chef's convenience. LED lighting and a new engine room ventilation system utilizing intake and exhaust axial fans headline a substantial list of technical upgrades. Owners choose from several spacious guest stateroom layouts: a den/office arrangement, a dedicated queen berth suite, or "Jack and Jill" berths for the grand kids. Kadey-Krogen provides flexible options for the guest stateroom so owners may configure the space to best fit their lifestyle and cruising plans.
